A lot has changed since the first steam engines were invented. These days, travelers can zip from place to place in the blink of an eye, thanks to high-speed bullet trains all over the world. It’s pretty incredible if you stop and think about it. We’ve come a long way! Speaking of coming a long way, have you ever traveled in a bullet train? After reading this news, you might be tempted!

The East Japan Railway Company, or JR East, announced a collaboration with Oriental Land (owners of Toyko Disneyland) in honor of Tokyo Disney Resort’s 40th Anniversary. To celebrate the park’s anniversary, JR East will run the special ‘Magical Dream Shinkansen’ starting December 22nd, 2023. “Shinkansen” is better known in English as a bullet train. Below, you can take a look at the new designs!

The train carriages will be all decked out with our favorite Disney characters, and the onboard song will change to some Disney-themed tunes celebrating the 40th anniversary of Tokyo Disney Resort. How fun!

The 10-car train will run between Tokyo and Sendai stations on the Tohoku Shinkansen line. From Sendai, it is about a two-hour train ride to Tokyo Disneyland, and the first train, known as ‘Yamabiko 132,’ departs Sendai at 9:44AM and arrives in Tokyo at 11:48AM. Note that this special service is scheduled to run until the end of March 2024, so keep that in mind if you’re planning a trip.

Additionally, the Disney Resort Line (which is Tokyo Disney’s monorail system) provides transportation between JR Maihama Station, the closest station to Tokyo Disney Resort, and major destinations within the resort. You know the old saying — guests traveling to Tokyo Disney really can use planes, trains, and automobiles to get there!

If you can’t get enough of Tokyo’s unique transportation, be sure to ride the Resort Liner during your visit. It provides access to tons of places around the resort, plus it looks FUN!
