Disney4me
We went on a Disney cruise recently, where we learned something really cool about DOLE Whip! Pineapple Dole Whip DOLE Whip is an iconic treat in the Disney theme parks. At Disney World, we usually head to Aloha Isle in Magic Kingdom or Pineapple Lanai at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort to get the tasty, tropical soft-serve treat. At Disneyland, The Tropical Hideaway is our go-to. You can find DOLE Whip on the Disney Cruise Line ships, but there’s one place you might be able to visit during your cruise that has tons of RARE DOLE Whip flavors! Where To Find DOLE Whip on Disney Cruise Ships Although the DOLE Whip you can get on the ships isn’t what we’re talking about here (the spot we’re talking about is actually located at one of the cruise ports!), we think it’s important that you know where to go if you need a DOLE Whip during your next cruise. Disney Wish Here’s where you can get DOLE Whip on each Disney Cruise Line ship: Disney Magic: Frozone Treats (Deck 9) Disney Fantasy: Frozone Treats (Deck 9) Disney Dream: Frozone Treats (Deck 11) Disney Wonder: Sulley’s Sips (Deck 9) Disney Wish: Wheezy’s Freezies (Deck 12) Wheezy’s Freezies There hasn’t been a DOLE Whip location announced for the new Disney Treasure cruise ship yet, but we’re wondering if there might be some fun DOLE Whip-inspired concoctions at the Jungle Cruise lounge on board this ship! ©Disney We’ll be sure to let you know if we hear any updates about that new ship. Beware: It’s Not Quite the Same as in the Parks Although DOLE Whip IS available on the cruise ships, in our experience, it’s not the same as what you’ll find in the theme parks. It’s usually part of a drink — like a cocktail or mocktail — and even on its own, it’s more like a smoothie than soft-serve ice cream. DOLE Whip Cocktail So although the flavors will be familiar, the texture of DOLE Whip might come as a surprise on the ships. Read our review of a DOLE Whip drink on the Disney Wish here! The GOOD NEWS about DOLE Whip on Certain Disney Cruises OK, we’ve held it in long enough! It’s time to tell you the really cool thing we learned on our recent cruise aboard the Disney Dream. You can find some delicious and RARE DOLE Whip flavors in Nassau! Our cruise itinerary included a stop at Nassau, Bahamas, and when we got off the ship, we walked through some cute, colorful shops that were located just to the right of the entrance to the port. Shops While we were strolling along, we noticed that one shop was selling DOLE Whip, and they had LOTS of flavors. DOLE Whip Shop The flavors listed on the menu included Pineapple, Orange, Raspberry, Strawberry, Lemon, Lime, Cherry, Watermelon, and Pomegranate. Lots of flavors! The Pomegranate flavor caught our attention, but unfortunately, they were out on the day we visited. Instead, we tried a combo of Mango and Lime. DOLE Whip! We thought this combo was delicious! The tart lime balanced out the sweetness from the mango, and both were bright, tropical flavors that fit perfectly with a Bahamas vacation. Mango Lime DOLE Whip This treat was definitely closer to the Disney parks’ DOLE Whip than the cruise ship variety, but it was still not quite as creamy as the DOLE Whip you’ll find in Disney World and Disneyland. It was more like sorbet than soft serve. More like sorbet Still, it was really fun to get a taste of the parks while we were on our cruise, and it was a great bonus to have a huge variety of flavors to choose from! Yum So if you’re sailing to Nassau soon — whether you’re on a Disney cruise or not! — make sure to stop by this spot and grab a treat. Here’s the Catch… There was just one problem with the DOLE Whip in Nassau: It was PRICEY. Disney World’s DOLE Whips are usually around $6 for a cup, but this one was DOUBLE that, coming in at $12. We did get two flavors, but the size was about the same as the Disney World treat. Very expensive We expect high prices from touristy places like this (and this stand was super close to where everyone was disembarking their ships, which makes it extra touristy), but we wanted to give you a heads-up before you visit.
