The new live-action version of the Disney classic The Little Mermaid is releasing soon, and there’s a ton of news surrounding the highly-anticipated film.

Recently we got our first peek at Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, the evil sea witch and Ariel’s main foe! Disney also announced they are searching for lookalikes to portray Ariel in the parks. Halle Bailey, the actress starring as Ariel in this remake, just showed us another (mini) lookalike — a brand-new doll inspired by the film!

The actress shared a video with her followers on Twitter where she revealed the design and gushed over how much she loves this latest item! The doll portrays Ariel in her mermaid form, with her iconic flowing red locks down to her shimmering tail. Bailey pointed out all of the details they managed to capture on the doll, right down to the beauty mark on her forehead! You can tell how excited she is in the video, and Bailey even shares that it’s incredible for her to see herself as her favorite Disney character.

She didn’t mention if the doll were one-of-a-kind or whether it will be available for purchase soon, but we’ll be watching for updates.

Bailey was first announced as the latest leading actress to take on the iconic Disney role back in 2019. It’s been a long four years waiting for the film to finally come out, but we are excited to watch the new live-action The Little Mermaid when it premieres in theaters on May 26th, 2023.

The film also stars Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Javier Bardem as King Triton, and Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric. This is just one of many remakes, reboots, and sequels in the pipeline for Disney. Just last month the company announced several new upcoming projects, including another Frozen film and a sequel to Zootopia. We can’t wait to revisit these stories with our favorite characters!

Can’t wait for the doll’s release? To hold you over, you can buy these new Little Mermaid Ears!
