It’s the opening day of Avengers Campus!

Pym Test Kitchen

We’ve been live from this brand-new land ALL day long, giving you an up-close look at food, characters, and more. And now, we’re stopping for a bite to eat at Pym Test Kitchen, the new Quick Service spot!

We were here this morning for breakfast, but we’re back for lunch!!

Atmosphere

At Pym Test Kitchen, everything’s a wacky size — and that includes the space where you’ll dine! This restaurant is inspired by Ant-Man and The Wasp’s ‘Pym Particles,’ which means everything around you will be shrunken or grown.

Check out those GIANT soda cans!

We already gave you a FULL tour of the restaurant, so we’re going to head straight up to the counter to grab all of our goodies.

And now, friends, it’s time to EAT!

Menu

On the menu, you’ll see some entrees (aka Blue Particle Specials), like that $100 Family-sized Pym-ini Sandwich

Menu

This is a Mobile Order location, so we placed our order using the Disneyland app and then headed to the designated pick-up spot.

Time to pick up our eats!

Then it was time to get tasting!

Drink

We got the Pingo Doce, which is a reference to Bruce Banner’s time in Rio de Janeiro! You can get this drink from the Coke Machines!

Pick Your Drink!

The drink was not overly sweet and kind of reminded us of the Guarana Kuat drink that used to be at Club Cool in EPCOT.

Eats

You better believe we ordered LOTS to try. We started off with the Atomic Fusion Pretzel for $10.49. It’s served buffalo-style and LOADED with chicken. It also comes with hot sauce, ranch dressing, blue cheese crumbles, celery, and dill-pickled carrots!

Atomic Fusion Pretzel

The hot sauce added a great kick to this eat. Not that adventurous? Try the Quantum Pretzel instead! It’s a Bavarian-style pretzel with a sharp cheddar cheese-beer sauce, and it’s $12.99.

Quantum Pretzel!

And trust us. That cheese-beer sauce is goooood. You can purchase this as a side for only $0.89 more. And it’s totally worth every cent!

Cheese-Beer Sauce

Onto the entrees! Of course, you KNOW we had to try that $100 Family-sized Pym-ini. It comes with salami, rosemary ham, provolone, and sun-dried tomato spread on toasted focaccia bread. You’ll also get marinara dipping sauce, potato bites, and an arugula salad!

It’s the $100 Sandwich!!!

This tasted JUST like a meat-lovers pizza in sandwich form — kinda like an Italian sub but in panini form! It’s also huge — the menu isn’t lying when it says it can fill up 6-8 people, easy.

Would You Order This?

If you’re not in a big group (or you want a sandwich ALL to yourself), you can also opt for the regularly-sized Pym-ini. It has all the same toppings and costs $14.49.

Pym-ini Sandwich

The Not so Little Chicken Sandwich is kinda comical: it’s a MASSIVE piece of chicken on a teeny-tiny bun and is served with potato bites. The sandwich itself has a fried chicken breast, teriyaki and red chili sauces, and pickled cabbage slaw, all served on brioche! It’s $15.49.

Not So Little Chicken Sandwich

Again, this had a little zest to it! We really enjoyed it. And how can you NOT take a picture of its wacky proportions?! Our biggest critique is that bun. We love ourselves some bread…and there simply isn’t enough bun for ALLLLL that chicken. We know it’s to keep with the theme of the restaurant, but we need more bread.

Let’s Dig In!!!

Next up, we tried the Caesar Salad and Colossal Crouton, which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like! It wasn’t our favorite — it was really just a big slice of romaine with a sparse amount of dressing — but the best part by far was that garlic crouton. It was seasoned really well! You can grab it for $12.49.

Caesar Salad and Colossal Crouton

The PB3 Superb Sandwich, at $12.99, was a standout eat for us. It’s got peanut butter, candied bacon, and banana and is paired with a Micro Banana Smoothie and Crispy Potato Bites.

PB3 Superb Sandwich

This was GOOD, but you’ve got to be into all those flavors meshing together! It totally tasted like a late-night snack. A bit of sweet. A bit of savory. What more could ya want?! And I mean it’s covered in Bacon!! 🤤  Kiddos will love this eat, too! And the blue is one of those Pym Particles. We know the blue is a bit offputting.

2021-disneyland-dca-avengers-campus-open

This was tasty!

The tots are kinda lame. Just some standard tots and nothing to write home about. The Micro-Banana Smoothie was the best part of the dish, and we would absolutely snag it in its regular size.

Micro Banana Smoothie

For our last entree, we tried the Impossible Spoonful. That’s rigatoni and ditalini pastas with plant-based meatballs, tomato sauce, and dairy-free parmesan! It’s $8.99 and comes with a mandarin, coconut milk yogurt, and a choice of low-fat milk or water. At first bite and glance, we weren’t able to tell that this is plant-based. The cheese and even the meatball were flavorful.

Time to Eat!!

You will notice a difference in texture when it comes to the meatball, but if textures don’t bother you, this is a solid plant-based option.

There are a few kids’ meals up for grabs, too. The PB&J Flavor Lab lets kids build their OWN sandwiches! They’ll get smooth peanut butter, strawberry jelly, and Pym particle bread…and they’ll assemble (get it?) their masterpiece themselves. It comes with a mandarin, yogurt, and either low-fat milk or water on the side! The whole thing costs $7.99.

There’s also a kids’ version of the Impossible Spoonful, for $8.99.

Mini Pasta and Impossible Meat-balls

And the last eat on the kids’ menu is the Subatomic Chicken Sandwich, at $9.99! It’s just crispy breaded chicken on a soft roll, and we found it to be very dry. We ended up dipping ours in that delicious beer cheese sauce, which helped out a lot!

Subatomic Chicken Sandwich

Here you can also get a side of Arugula Salad, Slaw, or load up on more of those tasty sauces (because who DOESN’T need more beer cheese when it’s THAT good!?). But, we bypassed those items since they were already served on the side with a few of the dishes we tried and opted for the Candied Bacon instead for $3.79. And, let us tell ya, this lil slab of bacon is super candied. It was sugary and gooey and not too heavy on the bacon — just something to keep in mind if you’re not a fan of overly sweet eats!

Candied Bacon

For dessert, we grabbed the Celestial-sized Candy Bar: Choco-Smash CANDY Bar, which is just as big as it sounds. It’s made with dark chocolate, peanuts, caramel, nougat, and chocolate brownie!

2021-disneyland-dca-avengers-campus-open

Look at how HUGE it is!

All those ingredients mix together to make a candy bar that is a Snickers, Three Musketeers, and a Reese’s all smushed together in one. And, the mere size of it makes it a great value for a Disney dessert coming in at $7.99 for this shareable eat (though this is SO good, we kinda don’t want to share)!

YUM.

You can also snag the Glowing Pym Particle Disc which can be used as light a light-up coaster.

Glowing Pym Particle Disc

And you can get the Glowing Pym Particle Capsule. Both of these are $5.49. Honestly, we thought these were made a little cheap and weren’t worth the price.

Pym Particle Capsule

And don’t forget that you can also find the Pingo Doce Sippper here for $22.99. This can be filled with Pingo Doce or the drink of your choice.

Pingo Doce Sipper

So, now that we’ve got all that rolling around in our stomachs, is Pym Test Kitchen worth all the hype?

Nosh or Not

Stop by and try these creative eats if:

  • You’ve got a lot of people to feed in your party. The menu features a wide variety of options, plus there’s that giant sandwich to share!
  • You’re a big Marvel fan! There’s no doubt that these eats are highly themed and great for those who know all about the Pym Particles.
  • You want to try foods that you won’t find anywhere else in Disneyland.

Check out some other superhero spots if:

  • You don’t want the stress of having to order hours in advance and make it into Avengers Campus in time for your pick-up window.
  • You’re looking for more plant-based options. There’s only one here and it’s really just your basic spaghetti and meatballs.
  • You like to have dessert with your meal. That giant candy bar is good and all, but it’s your only option.
  • You are looking to branch out. These eats are pretty basic and bland in most cases. There is better food at Disneyland Resort. But it’s always fun trying something new.

Overall

All in all, if you’re looking for the full superhero experience at Avengers Campus, then this is a place that you definitely don’t want to miss. The atmosphere screams Marvel and Disney found a way to put a unique spin on classic dishes that most park-goers will enjoy. We thought that the peanut butter sandwich was the real standout here, but we weren’t turning our nose up at anything on the menu — it was all tasty! We will certainly be back for more in the future and we’re excited to see what the “experiments” they come up with!

And, don’t forget that we also gave breakfast a try here, so you can check out how the meals compare in our review here!
