It might be hard to believe, but it’s been 40 years since Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back arrived in theaters.

A 40th anniversary is a lot to celebrate, so Disney decided to go big or go home! So it’s bringing Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back BACK to the big screen!

Although D23 recently hosted a showing of The Empire Strikes Back at the Rose Bowl as a drive-in movie, that pretty much left out anyone who doesn’t live in the Los Angeles area.

But now, on September 25th, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back will return to theaters across the country! And tickets are now on sale on the Fandango website. This is a once-or-twice-in-a-lifetime chance to see the movie as it was intended: on the big screen!

Of course, you can always just watch it at home on Disney+, too! Disney+ is the streaming home to Star Wars, including the final film in the Skywalker Saga, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which landed on the service in May.

Disney+ is also home to the Star Wars series The Mandalorian (aka “The Baby Yoda Show”) — that show’s second season arrives in October.

There are plenty of other ways to celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back, too. We’re constantly finding new 40th-anniversary merch, including t-shirts, a backpack, and a special MagicBand!

And of course, you can just wander all over Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and pretend you’re Han Solo on a special Rebel mission (no, we’ve NEVER done that!!! 😜). We’re looking forward to celebrating this milestone with the Star Wars universe!

We’ll also keep our eyes peeled for any other The Empire Strikes Back 40th-anniversary merch and events. So stay tuned and May the Force be with you!
