It’s summertime at the Disneyland Resort, which also makes it the perfect time to cool off at some of the hottest attractions. To remind you of some of our favorite ways to beat the heat, we are sharing cool facts about cool places.

Since it’s Olaf’s favorite season, let’s first head to the Hyperion Theater in Disney California Adventure park to catch the icy tale of “Frozen – Live at the Hyperion.” The dazzling theatrical interpretation of Disney’s global film phenomenon “Frozen” brings Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Sven and everyone’s favorite snowman, Olaf, to life in daily, hour-long performances.

Here are five “cool” facts about this dazzling stage spectacular, where the only thing warm will be your heart:

  1. Elsa’s magic is created through the use of dynamic effects, including 20 plumes of CO2, along with liquid nitrogen and evaporating snow throughout the stage and auditorium – in addition to scenic, lighting, video and audio effects.
  2. Many scenic elements, such as the snow mounds, are battery powered and move about the stage autonomously, using laser scanners and reflectors as their guide.
  3. Kristoff’s sleigh is built on a motion base platform similar to a flight simulator.
  4. Elsa’s staircase of ice is an automated set piece designed to swing the performer out into and over the first several rows of the audience. To create the staircase, Disney collaborated with partners who have engineered mega-spectacles for major concert events around the world.
  5. Elsa’s chandelier is made up of 60 individual ice shards and has more than 500 points of light.
