News and Review: Disneyland Tomorrowland Skyline Lounge

Recommended Posts

In case we haven’t already mentioned it: Happy 40th Anniversary to Disneyland’s Space Mountain! But what to get for the mountain who’s got everything? How about a groovy, above-the-action, nighttime lounge for Disneyland guests?

What? That sounds like a gift for us? Good — because it is! May 26th marked the first ever Tomorrowland Skyline Lounge Experience, a super-cool celebration of the out-of-this-world mountain (and land!) that has become a Disney icon!

The Tomorrowland Skyline Lounge Experience gives guests a chance to hang out in a futuristic, glowing lounge; munch on tasty experience-themed treats; and (when the weather cooperates!) watch the fireworks from a vantage point above Tomorrowland. How sweet is that?

And lucky for us, our new Disneyland buddy Sabrina (@everythingdisney.55) was able to get in on the action! Now, for starters, you have to know: this Experience is $45 per guest over three years old, and you’ll definitely want to book it ahead of time. But on the evening of your booking, make your way to the check-in across from Star Traders.

The Experience lasts from 8-10PM, and Disney requests that you check in 15 minutes ahead of the lounge opening. Once you’ve checked in, you’ll get a wristband that allows you access to the Lounge, as well as reentry to the Lounge should you choose to come and go during the two hour block.

You’ll also get a lanyard, which we think is pretty awesome. It’s got a great pic and is a fun souvenir from your time in DL!

Included in the price of the Experience is — of course — the view overlooking Tomorrowland, the Hub, and the castle and the opportunity to really relax as you wind down your Disneyland day. And the Lounge is made for slipping into your retro cool, laid-back, vibing self. You know it’s in there.

Two words: Glow. Tables. They remind us of massive glow cubes (and you already know how we feel about glow cubes!). But, in fact, there’s lots of cool, unobtrusive lighting. Cool, unobtrusive neon lighting. Because #tomorrowland.

Ooh — but since it’s still 2017 actually, and our cell phone batteries don’t last indefinitely (Humbug! Future, where are you?!), there are handy charging stations all over the place. Now you can really relax.

Besides those low, Mad Men-style white couches, you’ll also find these psychedelic light-up tables. Which we totally love. Also: more neon.

But the best thing about a lounge — lighted tables or not — is kickin’ back with your buds. And the Tomorrowland Skyline Lounge Experience has got you covered. You’ll find board games — yes, like with no buttons or batteries! — like Jenga and Connect 4.

Plus there’s a Star Wars bubble machine and lightsabers. Juuuuust in case any dark forces try to steal your lounge mojo.

So, once you’ve achieved maximum chill and had some fun, you’re gonna want snacks. And this partay has got you covered. Guests each receive a box of goodies.

The standard snack box has lots of tasty options squeezed inside its plastic, resealable container self! Center stage, of course, is the main mouse himself — in cake form! It’s the Mickey Cloud Cake, and it’s delicious in its simplicity.

It’s a cream-filled sponge cake — nothing fancy, but it’s Mickey-shaped and has something atmospheric in its name, so. Obvs it’s perfect for a party in space-tastic Tomorrowland!

Other sweet treats include the chocolate-covered chocolate cake called (wait for it) the Chocolate Eclipse, a miniature cherry Planetary Pie, and a sponge-and-strawberry confection called the Coconut Comet.

There’s one solid savory choice: Moon Rocks, a combination of Boursin, shredded cheddar and Jack, and cream cheeses topped with bacon and pimentos. Oh, and there are grapes. :p

Allergy-friendly boxes are available, so make sure you let the cast members know if you need one!

Guests can also choose a hot or cold beverage, including canned soda, bottled water, hot chocolate, or coffee.

You’ll also find tea, honey, sweeteners of all types, and individual creamers. And since it can get a tidbit chilly in Anaheim at night, a warm drink might be just what you need!

But if you need a little more warmth, cast members are ready with Star Wars-themed blankets for you to use during your stay in the Lounge. How helpful is that? (Sadly, you don’t get to keep ‘em.)

And as the party winds down, Mickey and Minnie Mouse arrive! It’s always fun to see them out and about — and it added a festive element to an already-fun night.

Now, when Sabrina visited, fireworks were, sadly, cancelled due to high winds. Ultimate sadface! But when the weather is more accommodating, the Lounge will offer a terrific view of the show. And in case the view isn’t compelling enough, you’ll be up, up, and away from the crowds (and full of cake).

The Tomorrowland Skyline Lounge Experience is an awesome way to spend two hours in Walt’s park. Photopass photogs will be milling around to capture the memories, and we think you’ll be glad to have pics to remember this special night.
