Star Wars play area and Disney Infinity interactive adventures come to life for kids while other treats are in store for families and adults

CELEBRATION, Fla. – New experiences and fun await guests sailing aboard the Disney Dream following a three-week dry dock in October 2015. Headlining the ship’s enhancements are two new interactive youth areas, one themed to Star Wars and another to Disney Infinity. Also new are the ever-popular Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and a whimsical sweet shop serving handmade gelato and ice cream. For adults, a new splash pool and sun deck provide an oasis for relaxing.

Here is a glimpse at what is in store for guests of all ages:

Star Wars Area Brings Force-filled Fun for Children

A newly themed area in Disney’s Oceaneer Club, open to ages three to 12, delights children with an out-of-this-galaxy experience inspired by the Star Wars saga. Kids are transported to a far away galaxy at Star Wars: Millennium Falcon, where the legendary spacecraft becomes a Force-filled play area.

The story and action of the Star Wars films comes to life throughout Millennium Falcon with special design features and experiences. Entering the spaceship, younglings join the Rebel Alliance in the epic battle of good versus evil by assisting with navigation of this powerful space vehicle. Sitting in the cockpit, children can pilot the super-cool spaceship through hyperspace and trigger lightspeed jumps to different locations around the galaxy. Nearby, R2-D2 stands ready to serve, and iconic battle gear like Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber and Chewbacca’s bowcaster are on display for inspiration.

Sitting at a holochess table, kids can express their creativity through Star Wars-themed crafts, games and activities. They can also watch episodes of the new Disney XD animated series, “Star Wars Rebels,” on a large screen or virtually join the rebellion at gaming stations featuring the series’ action-packed adventures.

There’s also an action-filled training adventure, with a Jedi Master who teaches kids how to use the Force to move objects and play Jedi mind tricks on Stormtroopers and Imperial Officers. Excitement continues during a shipboard version of the popular Jedi Training experience that invites younglings to learn lightsaber moves from a Jedi Master and face off against Darth Vader in person.

High-Tech Disney Infinity Space Adds Adventure for Kids

Also new in the Oceaneer Club, the Disney Infinity game room offers more high-tech, interactive fun for kids. They can experience a whole new way of playing together with exciting virtual experiences and immersive activities based on the popular Disney Infinity video game.

At individual and group gaming stations, customized, on-screen adventures bring to life characters and stories from across The Walt Disney Company. The area’s sleek design features wall-sized murals and sculptures of Disney Infinity figures to inspire imaginative play. The complete set of Disney Infinity character figures is also on display and available for gameplay.

Kids visiting this special room can unlock exclusive Disney Cruise Line environments like Castaway Cay and toys such as Mickey in a race-car-style cruise ship and Chip and Dale in sailor attire. They can continue to enjoy this virtual content – downloadable only on the Disney Dream – when playing Disney Infinity at home.

Special activities bring the virtual gameplay experience to life in the real world. For example, a life-sized Disney Infinity Base sets the stage where children take the place of character figures for a group gaming experience unlike any other. While standing on the interactive floor, kids are transformed into some of their favorite Disney characters like Olaf, Donald Duck and Maleficent.  They control the actions of the character that appears on a giant video screen display and compete in special challenges in the Toy Box.

Another experience gives children the chance to test their archery skills with some help from Merida and other great Disney archers. Kids can also join youth counselors in group activities like building a racetrack around the room and learning how to draw Disney Infinity characters.

Specialty Sweet Shop for Families

Vanellope’s Sweets and Treats satisfies the sweet tooth of cruisers of all ages, with handmade gelato and ice cream, an assortment of candy, and delectable novelty treats for purchase. New to Deck 11, the smell of freshly baked waffle cones and candy lingers from the specialty store’s two entrances, inside Cabanas restaurant and outside by the pool deck.

Resembling the whimsical candy land of the Sugar Rush race car game in “Wreck-It Ralph,” the sweet shop’s décor features nods to the film such as Vanellope’s race car, gas pump-style gumball dispensers and other fun details. Unique design touches bring the experience to life for guests, including an animated leaderboard showcasing the day’s most popular sundaes. Sculptures of King Candy on his winner’s pedestal and Vanellope hanging upside down in the Candy Cane Forest offer fanciful backdrops for family photographs, and a sleeping Sour Bill occasionally wakes from a nap inside a gum ball dispenser to say something sour.

More than 20 gelato and 16 ice cream flavors are served, with different options handcrafted daily. Freshly made whipped cream, sweet sauces and fruit compotes are among the wide selection of toppings. Signature sundaes include Vanellope Von Schweetz’s Race Kart Sundae, served in Vanellope’s very own race car, and Ralph’s Family Challenge Sundae, presented in a trophy cup and made with eight heaping scoops of ice cream, meant for the family to share.

Handcrafted truffles, eclairs, tarts, candy apples, cupcakes, designer cookies and specialty brownies are some of the other delicious treats offered. The shop’s colorful assortment of sweets includes mix-and-match hard candies, gummies and chocolates, plus signature lollipops atop King Candy’s lollipop tree.

Magical Makeover Salon for Princesses and Pirates

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on Deck 5 midship brings to life the storybook fantasies of young guests with pixie-dusted and piratical makeovers. This very special salon offers aspiring princesses and knights ages three to 12 the chance to transform into royalty with the help of a fairy godmother-in-training. On pirate party night this boutique becomes The Pirates League where swashbuckling pirates of all ages have the opportunity to unleash their inner buccaneer.

Cool and Comfortable Retreats for Adults

Exclusively for adults, Deck 13 forward includes a new water feature, Satellite Falls, a circular splash pool with benches and a gently falling rain curtain that provides cool comfort. Around this upper deck, adult guests can soak up the sun in loungers or relax in the shade under a canopy.

New to Deck 11 forward, Senses Juice Bar offers adults nutritious juices and smoothies to replenish after a relaxing spa treatment or invigorating workout. A customizable menu of nutrient-rich beverages are made to order using fresh fruits, vegetables and other flavorful ingredients such as almonds, chia seeds and yogurt. Located steps from Senses Spa & Salon and the fitness center, the juice bar offers an indoor retreat for adults in a comfortable, ocean-view setting.
