Disney4me Posted October 31, 2023 Report Posted October 31, 2023 One of our favorite things to do during the holiday season at Disney World is visit the amazing gingerbread creations at hotels throughout the resort. Disney’s Grand Floridian Disney announced that these gingerbread creations will be returning to six hotels this year, and now construction has officially begun on the BIGGEST of them all! We spotted Cast Members working on the first stages of the MASSIVE gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort! Working on the gingerbread house This gingerbread house is made up of over 8500 gingerbread pieces. WOAH. Hard at work Preparation for this huge house starts a full seven months ahead of time. Cast Members begin mixing the dough for the gingerbread house in May, and then the dough goes through a two-month curing process. It’s Halloween, so you know what that means? The gingerbread house is going UP in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa! pic.twitter.com/CisP2gswPN — Disney Food Blog (@DisneyFoodBlog) October 31, 2023 In the summer, the shapes are baked and decorated and then stored for construction, which is happening now! Construction will take days to complete, but this lobby smells AMAZING throughout the process! Samples of the gingerbread are also available while supplies last! pic.twitter.com/JWma8HkU25 — Disney Food Blog (@DisneyFoodBlog) October 31, 2023 Cast Members expect it to be completed within the next three days. So much gingerbread! They told us that, this year, it’ll be themed to Disney’s 100th anniversary! Construction It was so cool to see the Cast Members using GIANT icing piping bags to construct this amazing house. Giant icing bags Once this house is completed, it’ll open up as a sweets shop in the Grand Floridian lobby. You can stop by to see the incredible house and purchase treats from Cast Members working inside! (You don’t have to be staying at the Grand Floridian in order to check out the house and buy treats.) Adding the gingerbread shingles Last year, we saw treats like marshmallow lollipops, sugar cookies, brownie tree pops, gingerbread men, gingerbread whoopie pies, peppermint bark, hot cocoa bombs, and of course the gingerbread shingles. We’ll have to wait and see what comes this year! It’ll be done soon! Today, Cast Members were handing out samples to guests who’d come out to watch the construction. Samples We can’t wait to see it all finished this year, so stay tuned to DFB for more updates on the construction process.
