Walt Disney World Following a battle with Governor Ron Desantis, the Reedy Creek District was transformed into the current Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, whose Board of Supervisors has been appointed by Desantis himself. But now, one member of the oversight district might have to resign, according to a statement made by an ethics lawyer today. According to the Orlando Sentinel, Glen Gilzean, who is currently serving as Florida’s ethics commission chairman and the administrator of the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, might have to resign from one of his roles. ©Orlando Sentinel | Glen Gilzean, left, and board member Ron Peri, right Steven Zuilkowski, the ethics commission’s general counsel, has stated that according to state law, public employees are not permitted to serve on the government watchdog panel. “[I]t appears that your position as district administrator for the district is public employment,” Zuilkowski expressed in his statement. ©Central Florida Tourism Oversight Board Gilzean was appointed to the Disney World oversight district on May 10, 2023, where he earns a salary of $400,000 as the district’s administrator. He began his other role, chairman of Florida’s ethics commission, in August 2019, and his current term expires in June 2024.
