Disney4me Posted February 9, 2023 Report Posted February 9, 2023 We’ve seen plenty of internal changes impacting Disney workers recently. Walt and Mickey Not only is Disney moving forward with the Lake Nona project that will transplant thousands of employees from California to Florida, but the company is also undergoing a massive restructuring as Bob Iger refocuses the company’s priorities. Before his sudden departure, Bob Chapek announced that Disney would be instituting a hiring freeze following major financial losses, particularly within the streaming domain. This was then confirmed by Iger after he replaced Chapek in late November. Bob Chapek and Bob Iger © CNBC Iger is planning to combat this by focusing on Disney+ in the near future. However, that’s not all the company will be doing to improve their financial situation. Yesterday during the Q1 earnings call Iger announced the Walt Disney Company will be reducing its workforce by 7,000 jobs and job cuts would begin soon. ©Reuters | Disney CEO Bob Iger Now, we’ve heard from another Disney executive regarding these cuts. Josh D’Amaro, Chairperson of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, stated in an email to Cast Members that the workforce reductions won’t be relegated to one sector. Every segment of the company, including Parks, Experiences, and Products, will be subject to the layoffs. However, he explained that Disney anticipates those working hourly frontline roles in operations won’t be impacted. In an email to cast, Josh D’Amaro said workforce reductions will impact every segment across the company, including Parks, Experiences, and Products. However, he said the company does NOT expect it to impact hourly frontline roles in operations. pic.twitter.com/rQYJ7ABG4l — Scott Gustin (@ScottGustin) February 9, 2023 Our thoughts go out to those Cast Members who will be affected by these job cuts.
