Disney World One of those changes is the upcoming hiring freeze that former CEO Bob Chapek announced in early November. We found out later that month that Bob Iger planned to continue with the freeze, but we hadn’t heard anything since. Now, Iger has commented on the upcoming freeze and what it means for the company and its employees. Back in early November, Chapek had said the company would be “limiting headcount additions through a targeted hiring freeze. Hiring for the small subset of the most critical, business-driving positions will continue, but all other roles are on hold.” He had also mentioned that they also anticipated staff reductions. Bob Chapek ©Disney In the most recent earnings call for the first quarter of fiscal year 2023, Iger announced that the Walt Disney Company would now be “reducing expenses to improve margins and returns” in order to better position the company should any global economic challenges arise. ©Reuters | Disney CEO Bob Iger Iger announced that the Walt Disney Company will be reducing its workforce by 7,000 jobs.
