You’ve heard about the undeniably HIGH prices for this experience, and how it’ll have blue shrimp and Star Wars characters and all kinds of other stuff. You’ve heard about these things and maybe even seen the concept art. But what is it REALLY like? What food is available? What does lightsaber training actually look like? Well, friends, you’re in the right place. Before we dive into the details and experiences onboard, let’s first cover what exactly makes Disney World’s Star Wars hotel unique. The Galactic Starcruiser is a brand-new resort experience in which guests “board” the Halcyon (aka the Star Wars ship) for a two-day, two-night adventure. The easiest way to think of it is to compare it to a cruise where guests arrive and depart in the same time block and stay at the hotel throughout the entire experience (aside from a “planet” excursion). Star Wars Hotel Entrance During their stay, guests will be immersed in their very own Star Wars story and are able to select from a variety of activities, dining experiences, and more. Atrium And, it’s more than just your average Disney World hotel food and entertainment — Disney has described the experience as “part live immersive theater, part themed environment, part culinary extravaganza, part real-life role-playing game—and yet so much more.” Cost Of course, it’s not free to travel to space — in fact, it’s pretty pricey. What’s Included Because the Galactic Starcruiser is most similar to a Disney cruise rather than your average Disney World hotel stay, the cost for the experience includes a lot more than just your room. Star Wars: Datapad Once onboard, your key to navigating the Starcruiser lies in the Star Wars: Datapad. This is available through the Play Disney Park app and includes maps of the Halcyon, your personal itinerary (which is available in the app 30 days prior to your departure date), and more. ©Disney Disney recommends downloading the app and signing in prior to your arrival at the Starcruiser. This is also where all of your missions will be sent! Missions are part of the interactive storyline, and you may be called upon to help out certain characters or perform tasks around the ship. Your itinerary will be on your datapad In addition to the datapads on your phone, there are also consoles around the ship that you can scan into using your MagicBand. You scan into these when you first get on the ship, and that’s what officially begins your mission! Starcruiser Console This is also where you’ll scan your band so that characters can give you access to certain rooms during missions. For example, if you were doing a mission that gives you access to the cargo hold, the character will tell you on your datapad to find one of these consoles and scan your band so they can grant you access. You also might get a code sent to your datapad during missions that you have to insert into the consoles on the wall. It will be from a character with instructions on what to do. Ship Console Basically, you need your datapad in order to go on missions and be completely immersed in the experience. Datapad Make sure to keep your phone charged! Galactic Starcruiser Map Not sure how to get around once onboard? The Star Wars: Datapad in the Play Disney Park app will be your new best friend! In the app you can find a FULL MAP of the resort so that you don’t find yourself lost in space. The map includes an overview of each deck… Different decks …and you can get a closer look at the decks when you click them. You’ll come to find that most of the activities on the Starcruiser take place on Deck 4 and Deck 6. Deck 4 is where you’ll find the Crown of Corellia Dining Room, the Engineering Room, Lightsaber Training, and the Cargo Hold… Deck 4 …and Deck 6 is where you can find the Atrium, Bridge, Sublight Lounge, Launch Pod Dock, and The Chandrila Collection. Deck 6 If you don’t have your phone handy and find yourself wandering the Starcruiser, you’re not out of luck — you can find maps on screens throughout the ship too! Two-Night Itinerary The Star Wars: Datapad is also where you’ll find the FULL itinerary with all of the activities going on throughout the entirety of your stay. Keep in mind that this is available in the app 30 days in advance of your “voyage” so you can start getting excited and planning ahead for what you’ll want to participate in well before your stay. Here’s a look at the schedule of events for our stay at the Starcruiser. Day 1 All guests must arrive at the Starcuiser anytime between 1PM to 4PM to board a Launch Pod that takes you from Earth to the Halcyon in “space.” And, because there is such a big arrival window, the afternoon activities are a bit more flexible. For example, our schedule started off with a lunch buffet in the Crown of Corellia Dining Room and there was also time to explore the Halcyon, learn about the Datapad at Datapad Orientation, and meet fellow passengers at the Galactic Social. Here’s what happens when we first arrive. Want to learn more about what each activity entails? Just click it in the app to expand and find out more details! For example, here’s a closer look at the Lunch Buffet and Exploring the Starcruiser. We can’t wait to explore the ship! Once everyone is onboard the real happenings begin! All guests are required to attend the Ship Muster in the Atrium on Deck 6 (more on that later), and there’s a Captain’s Reception before Dinner Service begins. Next up on our list… After dinner, there are even more things going on including Sabaac Lessons. Day 1 Itinerary You can pick and choose the activities that you participate in, so don’t feel like you absolutely have to do it all on Day 1. But be aware — usually if you see an event where people gather in the atrium, story elements WILL happen. Day 2 Day 2 is the only full day of the 2-night stay, and saying that the day is packed would be an understatement. The morning begins bright and early with both buffet and grab-and-go breakfast options, and then you can hop on a transport to Batuu (aka Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios) as early as 8:10AM. Starting off Day 2 right Prefer to stay onboard the Starcruiser instead of head to Batuu? Not a problem — there’s still plenty to do onboard including a Lunch Buffet, Cantina Chronicles, Droid Racing, and more. What’s next? All guests need to return to the Halcyon by 4PM. Evening activities include dinner, A Halcyon Starcruiser Celebration (that’s the “fireworks” show!), and some late-night Sweets & Treats. Time for dinner! Just keep in mind that past 11PM you can still explore the ship, though all of the Star Wars characters will only wander around until midnight. Day 3 Day 3 is all about waking up and leaving. Disembarkation begins at 6AM and lasts until 9:45AM, when you’ll board a Launch Pod back to the terminal. Before you leave you can grab breakfast starting at 7AM as either a buffet or grab-and-go. The last day. Sample Itinerary Like we’ve mentioned before, your stay on the Starcruiser is entirely what you make it — nothing is required (aside from Ship Muster on Day 1). So, each passenger’s schedule will end up looking a little bit different! Well, your first stop will be the Galactic Starcruiser Terminal! Transport Ship Terminal If you choose to drive to the terminal, you’ll be able to access complimentary valet parking. If you’re staying at a Disney Resort hotel before (or even after) your stay, Disney should provide transportation both to and from the hotel for free. Note that this is subject to change. Launch Pod Signage Once inside, you’ll board a Launch Pod where you get to watch as Earth disappears and the Starcruiser comes into view! You’ll need to take a Launch Pod to get between the Halcyon and Earth Passenger Cabins and Suites Standard Cabin The Standard Cabin room sleeps four to five adults, with one queen bed, two bunk beds, and a pull-down bed. Plus, you’ll also find a pull-out (very, very tiny) table, two ottomans for seating, and a window with a view out to space! Welcome to our crib! The bunk beds are big enough to fit fully grown adults (believe us, we tried!) and they really add to the ambiance of the room, making you feel as though you’re on a real starship. That said, the mattresses are very firm, and feel a lot like cheap futon mattresses. They’re not luxurious by any means and are wrapped in vinyl. There are also no sheets on the bunk beds. The blanket they give to you is basically a sleeping bag. So be prepared for that. And another concern — there are no USB ports or outlets inside the bunk bed areas, so if you want to charge your device and have it near you while you’re sleeping, you’ll need to plug it in via an outlet next to the queen bed. A hassle for sure. The bunks are pretty iconic. Each room comes with a split bathroom. You’ll have the main room with a sink and shower, while a sliding door separates the toilet in case multiple people need to use the facilities at once. And the bathroom comes with many of the amenities that we’re used to in regular hotels, including Disney’s H2O brand of products — shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, hand soap, and more. Except here, they’re all stored in very Star Wars-y refillable containers. First look at the bathroom One bonus thing you’ll find in the toiletries area are bubble masks and face wipes — presumably to help with all of that costume makeup you’ll be wearing! Foaming Bubble Mask And each cabin comes with a control panel where you’ll find a phone, a thermostat, and a video screen for chatting with your room’s droid (the droid’s name is D3-O9, but we called her Dot, obviously). The control panel has a bunch of helpful features. You will WANT your droid to talk to you all the time, but she won’t. She’s not a “concierge” droid. She’s just a communication droid — only available to chat when she wants to relay something to you. Hey D3-O9 Other amenities found in the Standard Cabin include: Mini refrigerator Hairdryer In-cabin safe Interactive TV multiple storage areas A glimpse into the second closet. Galaxy Class Suite The Galaxy Class Suite is a LOT larger and features an “integrated seating area.” The room sleeps up to four people with a queen bed and two pull-down beds and you’ll also find a double vanity bathroom, a bar area, and two windows with outer-space views inside. They have an entire living room! Other amenities found in the Galaxy Class Suite include: Mini refrigerator Hairdryer In-cabin safe Phone with voicemail messaging Interactive TV H2O Plus spa, bath, and shower products Bathroom in the Galaxy Class Suite If you’re looking for something bigger and more luxurious, this may be the choice for you. The kitchenette is a great touch for those who want their cabin to feel a little more “homey” during their stay. And you get TWO space windows! Grand Captain Suite The biggest cabins onboard the Halcyon are the Grand Captain Suites. These sleep up to eight passengers and include two-bedroom rooms (with two queen beds, two bunk beds, and two pull-down beds), a seating area, a double-vanity bathroom, a second bathroom that has a single vanity, a bar area, and three windows for viewing outer space. ©Disney Other amenities found in the Grand Captain Suite include: Mini refrigerator Hairdryer In-cabin safe Phone with voicemail messaging Interactive TV H2O Plus spa, bath, and shower products ©Disney Keep in mind that these are also the most expensive of the three options, so you’ll be shelling out a pretty penny to stay here. Food Most meals are served in the Crown of Corellia Dining Room. This restaurant is located on Deck 4 of the “ship.” (The exceptions are the Sublight Lounge, which has drinks and some snacks, and the Grab-and-Go breakfast, which is also located at the Sublight Lounge.) Crown of Corellia Dining Room The dining room is one large room with tables and chairs as well as booths. A host will direct your party to a table during dinner, but it’s open seating for breakfast and lunch. Table at Crown of Corellia Dining Room The tables have utensils wrapped in cloth napkins already at your seat. Once you unwrap them, you’ll see that forks, knives, and spoons look a little different in space! Space utensils For breakfast and lunch, the meals are served buffet-style. You can head up to the buffet line for your food as many times as you’d like. Buffet area There is a separate area for drinks, which has various soft drinks, blue and green milk on tap, water, and coffee. Drinks station Dinner is served family-style, so a server will bring the food to your table. You can still request additional servings of any food that you want. Let’s take a look at each meal here. Remember that we have full reviews for all of these meals as well, which we’ll link in their respective sections. Breakfast Breakfast is available from 7AM to 11AM on Day 2 of your visit and from 7AM to 10AM on Day 3. Ready to eat? As we mentioned before, this meal is served as a buffet. Once you’ve been seated, you can head up to get your food. First, you’ll need to grab a tray. Each dish is plated individually, so you’ll grab whole plates instead of just the food. You can arrange the plates on your tray like little blocks. It’s basically food tetris. Breakfast is a little different on days 1 and 2, although some offerings remain the same. Some of the breakfast options include a Compressed Fruit Plate… Compressed Fruit Plate …Pastry Boards, which include a sample of various pastries… Pastry Boards …Whipped Eggs (one of the most unusual-looking dishes on the buffet menu)… How unusual …and (one of our favorites) the Crispy Tuber Waffle. Crispy Tuber Waffles There are also Chandrila Waffles! No Mickey Waffles here — the iconic breakfast food on the Halcyon has the image of the ship’s symbol on them instead. Chandrila Waffles And if you want some more familiar dishes, you can get a side of eggs and sausage with your waffle. Eggs and Sausage The eggs are called Rolled Omelets, and the sausage is just Roasted Sausage. If you’re intrigued by this buffet, click here to check out our full review! Grab and Go Breakfast The buffet is a great option if you’re looking for a filling sit-down meal. But if you don’t love big breakfasts or just want something quick to eat before you go explore the ship some more, you can also get a Grab-and-Go breakfast. Grab-and-Go Head to the Sublight Lounge to pick up a to-go box and some drinks. Easy to take with you There are pastries, a serving of Palmfruit Yogurt, and whole fruit options (like bananas and oranges) available here. Oranges The drinks station has coffee (black and decaf)… Coffee and Hot Water …hot water and various teas… Teas …and orange juice. Lunch On Day 1, lunch is served from 1PM to 4PM, so you can grab some food as soon as you board the ship. On Day 2, lunch is served from 11AM to 4PM. So many things! Remember, Day 2 is also the day you can take an excursion down to Batuu, so you can also eat lunch there if you so choose. An entree and a drink (both non-alcoholic and alcoholic) from Docking Bay 7 are included with the price you paid for the hotel. But, you can also get this meal from any of the quick service restaurants in Hollywood Studios. Docking Bay 7 Lunch is also served buffet style and it’s all-you-care-to-enjoy! There is a mix of comfort foods with a twist and some more unique offerings, so there should be a little something for everyone. On Day 1, you can try things like the Fire Melted Cheese Takeaway with red fruit soup dipper… oooo this looks interesting …the Pork and Cheese Takeaway with black-spice spread… A little different than the ham and cheese sammies we’re used to! …the Nori-crusted Redfish with Mushrooms and Red Cabbage… This fish looks familiar …or the Tikka Tip Yip Chicken with Paneer Cheese flatbread! Pizza pizza There are also desserts available, including the Choco-whip with Hibiscus Meringue. Choco-whip with Hibiscus Meringue Day 2 has different lunch offerings! You can get items like the Red Fruit Burrata with balsamic pearls and red fruit jelly… Balsamic pearls are something we never knew we needed …the Kaadu Rib Bites with a sweet-and-sticky glaze and spicy slaw… Just a couple little ribs …the Blue Foccacia and Sausage Takeaway with red fruit jam and ahi aioli… Definitely colorful! …and the Bantha Vinegared Herb-sauce Coti-cheese flatbread! This was delicious! Dessert is available during Day 2 as well — like this colorful Salted Caramel Chocolate Cake. Pretty, but how does it taste? Dinner Night 1 Dinner on Night 1 gives you the chance to sample some unique eats while being entertained by the one and only Gaya (and Ouannii too!). Crown of Corellia You might see all kinds of story moments play out during dinner on night 1, so keep those eyes peeled! What’s Going On?! In terms of the actual menu, night 1 includes a variety of different things served family-style, for those in your group to enjoy. Things start out with the Bento Experience, which has 3 different pan-seared steamed dumplings. These are also served with 4 different sauces (Kaadu Cream, Melahnese Curry, Batuu Spice, and Barbecue-style) as well as a Flora Noodle Salad. Bento Experience Next, dinner continues with the Chandrila Chef’s Selections. This includes Bantha Beef Tenderloin… Bantha Beef …Tip Yip Chicken… Chicken …and the Stewed Shrimp. Stewed Shrimp Also included in the Chef’s Selections is a Green Herbed Fluffy Rice with a Puffed Rice Crisp… Fluffy Rice! …and Surabat Spiced Flora (a.k.a. Vegetables with Harissa Spice). Time for Some Veggies For dessert on night 1, we got to try the Jogan Fruit and Caramel Whip. So Pretty! There were also a number of specialty drinks available to purchase. Dinner Night 2 Unlike dinner on night 1, dinner on night 2 doesn’t feature Gaya or that level of performance entertainment (or, at least, it didn’t during our time there). When we visited the Crown of Corellia Dining Room on night 2, things were a bit quieter — though we did see some characters pop in and interact during our meal. AND things got quite exciting right near the end of dessert, when a big event started to unfold around us (no spoilers though!). Tables in the Dining Room Dinner on night 2 is a “Taste Around the Galaxy” meal, so you’ll get to try different foods inspired by various worlds in the Star Wars universe. A Look at the Dinner Menu The meal started off with Mustafarian Spread and Breads, which features assorted breads with Pima-cheese, dried redfruit spread, apricot relish, and roasted Chando dip. The names might sound out-of-this-world, but it was basically bread service with pimento cheese and other items for dipping. Bread Service Then you hit the course with the one dish that you’ll SMELL before you see. It arrives on a smoking plate (due to dry ice in the display stand), and it’s not like anything you’ve laid eyes on before. Did you guess what this is already? It’s the infamous blue shrimp! Definitely bizarre We’ll go into more detail in our review (yes, we have a full review for just these shrimp — they needed it), but we can tell you right now that blue shrimp is not for the faint of heart (and especially not for those who don’t like shrimp cocktail). While these might not have been a favorite of ours, blue shrimp might be your dream come true! You never know until you try! Yikes. Needless to say, we’re not exactly anxious to taste this dish again. But they certainly hit the mark in terms of looking like they’re from another world! And again, they might be a total hit for you. If they are, you’ll definitely have to drop us a comment and let us know. Click here for our full review of the BLUE SHRIMP. Next, we move on to the entrees. On night 2, these entrees included a Braised Bantha Short Rib with rich fig fruit demi-glace, tuber-tumeric puree, and nightshade flora. Braised Bantha Beef We also got to munch on the Seared Kashyyyk Whitefish, which came with greenpod puree, Jekka seed, cornseed relish, and yellowfruit buttercream. Whitefish Also available upon request was some Tip Yip Chicken that comes with herbed porridge, roasted flora, and red onion vinaigrette. For dessert on night 2, we were pleased to find a cake inspired by the logo of the very star line operating the ship we were sailing on — the Chandrila Star Line. (Guests on the Star Wars Hotel are “sailing” on the Halcyon, which is a ship operated by the Chandrila Star Line.) The Chandrilan Air Cake featured chocolate, cream of Jogan fruit, and terateak fruit jelly. So Neat! As a special treat, we were also given some extra sweets during night 2 — a set of cookies! Warm cookies do appear on the kids menu, though it’s unclear if these are the same cookies that are on the kids menu. We had, however, seen these cookies available during other meals on the Halcyon, so be on the lookout for them. Cookies! The cookie flavors were ube (purple), crinkle cookie that was basically a sugar cookie (yellow), and chocolate chip. Captain’s Table If you’re looking to take your dining at the Star Wars Hotel to the next level, you can look into the Captain’s Table experience. While regular meals are included in your Star Wars Hotel stay, dinner at the Captain’s Table will cost you $30 per person for the experience for just 1 dinnertime meal. What’s so special about the Captain’s Table? Well, for starters the number of guests at this table is limited (but note that you will be seated with guests from other parties). The Captain’s Table itself is located in the center of the Crown of Corellia Dining Room — making it a PRIME location for all of the entertainment that takes place in the space. Captain’s Table Those at the Captain’s Table may also get a special visit from the Captain or other characters on the ship. The Captain! Additionally, those seated at the Captain’s Table get to enjoy special dishes and courses that other guests do not get included in their meal. We dined at the Captain’s Table on night 1 of our stay. Keep in mind that the Captain’s Table experience can vary depending on what dinner time you’re at (late or early), what night of the trip you get to dine there, and other factors. During our experience, those at the Captain’s Table got to enjoy the following things which are NOT included in the standard dinner service: (1) a First Taste course; (2) an Intermezzo; (3) an Additional Meat during the Chandrila Chef’s Selections (ours was scallops but from our understanding, it may be lobster or something else in the future); (4) an Additional Dessert (called Decadent Finale); (5) complimentary Champagne for the Captain’s Toast; and (6) a Red or White Wine Pairing. Full Captain’s Table Menu Our First Taste was the Red Fruit Pillow, which was a Soy-Ginger Cured Tomato, Avocado, and Wasabi Crema. Red Fruit Pillow The Intermezzo we got to try was the Miso Shooter, which is a Warm Miso Broth with Crispy Tofu. Miso Shooter Our additional meat option during the Chandrila Chef’s Selections was the Lee Romay Seared Scallop, which had a creamy sauce and sesame seeds. Scallops Our additional dessert (or Decadent Finale) was the Umi-Yumi Chocolate which featured Caramel and Yuzu. Umi-Yumi! And here’s a look at our white wine pairing… White Wine Pairing …as well as our champagne for the toast! A Toast! Kids Dinner Menu Traveling with younglings or just looking to sample some kid’s menu items? The Star Wars Hotel has you covered. During nights 1 and 2, kids have a special Younglings Menu. Younglings Menu From what we understand, kids may be able to sample several different items off of the menu (even within the same category). And adults may also be able to try whatever kids’ menu items they want to try! Of course, the Star Wars Hotel might not always be able to accommodate that request, but it appears that they will generally try to make that happen whenever possible. Another Look at the Menu The kid’s menu is essentially the same on both nights, except for the dessert. In terms of appetizers, there is a Flora Greens Salad and a fruit cup. There are also Flora Rice Paper Rolls, which are vegetable summer rolls with sweet-and-sour sauce. Kids Rice Paper Roll In terms of kids’ entrees, there are a number of selections including Grilled Tip Yip Chicken Swords with sweet-and-sour sauce, Fried Tip Yip Chicken Chunks, and Cheese Pizza. For sides, there are steamed green beans, buttered noodles, steamed carrot spirals, and a fruit cup. Kids Menu Items Also available are the Chedd-Cheesy Beef Spiral Dumplings (read: CHEESEBURGER PODS Y’ALL!!!!) and Crispy Fried Waffle Fries (side). CHEESEBURGER PODS?! IS THAT YOU?! Kids also get a featured dessert, a fruit salad with a baked masa-flatbread cone and vanilla yogurt, or warm cookies and white milk. Drinks Throughout your stay at the Star Wars Hotel, you’ll generally find water available, and you can also get all of the blue milk and green milk your heart desires. Blue and Green Milk on tap Soda and other select drinks are also included in your stay. Water But, in addition to those drinks, you can also get select specialty alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks during your voyage. These are an additional cost, so that’s something to keep in mind! Drinks Menu There are also generally wine and beer options. Specialty Drinks Menu Some of these drinks may appear on the menu for lunch or dinner in the Crown of Corellia Dining Room or on the menu at the Sublight Lounge. Some drinks may be on all 3 menus. And some might not be specifically listed on the menu, but may still be available. We’re including the drinks that we saw or that you might see available at several places on the ship into one big category here. If you ever have a question about what you can or cannot order at a particular place, just be sure to ask the Cast Members! In several spots, you’ll find that the Dagobah Vimlet is available for about $15. This drink is a take on a vodka gimlet and features vodka, herbaceous orange liqueur, lime, and peppercorn. Dagobah Vimlet Also available at a few different places is the Pod Chaser, which is a take on an Old Fashioned. The drink is generally around $15 and is made with bourbon, bitters, and orange zest. Pod Chaser In terms of non-alcoholic drinks, you’ll find the Blue Milk Citrus Fizz available during dinner and also during a special tasting event at the Sublight Lounge called the Cantina Chronicles. When not part of the tasting event, it typically costs $8 and is made with lychee, lime, lemon-lime soda, and blue milk sorbet. Blue Milk Fizz! Available at dinner in the Crown of Corellia Dining Room and in the Sublight lounge is the also non-alcoholic Muja Twist for $8. This drink is made of watermelon, herbal garden blend, mint, and sparkling bubbles. Muja Twist During dinner on night 2 at the Crown of Corellia Dining Room, we also grabbed an Espresso Martini. Espresso Martini Though this might not be specifically listed on the menu, be sure to check and see if it’s available during your dinner service and/or at the Sublight Lounge. Snacks So what if you get hungry between mealtimes on the ship? Well, later in the evening you can head to the Sublight Lounge (we’ll get to that in just a moment), but there are also some quick snacks available at a little stand in the Atrium. We saw these snacks out on both days from early afternoon to around dinner time. Snacks The snacks were different on both days. On Day 1, there were options like Parmesan Cheese Crisps… Parma Cheese Bites …Double Chocolate Cookies… Double Chocolate Cookie …and Gormaandas Cake Bites (basically cake pops). Cake Pops Day 2 had Dried Fruit… Dried Fruit …Cheesy Popcorn… Popcorn …and rice krispie Asteroid Balls, in addition to other snacks. Rice Krispie Asteroid Balls On both days, you could find whole fruit and some serve-yourself options like Trail Mix. Whole fruits These snacks were unlimited, and the takeaway containers they were served in made them easy to grab on the go. The serve-yourself snacks had little containers next to the dispenser. Click here to see our full review of the snacks! The Sublight Lounge If you’re looking for a spot to hang out and truly feel like you’re one of the space folk, head on over to the Sublight Lounge! Sublight Lounge This unique spot has some seating throughout… Seating …as well as some more booth-like areas. It’s sort of dark and mysterious, but also bright and full of neon lights and cool things to look at. AND you never know who might walk in to chat with guests there! Where Would You Sit? One of the big things at the Sublight Lounge is the holo-Sabacc table. This is the only holo-sabacc table on the Starcruiser and can be a popular spot! Not sure how to play Sabacc? Don’t worry! The Cast Members can teach you and you can even play on tables in the lounge or atrium with regular Sabacc cards. Sabacc! At the Sublight Lounge, you can also find some grab-and-go breakfast items (which we mentioned above), lounge snacks, and drinks. In terms of the drinks, the menu features specialty cocktails (alcoholic and non-alcoholic)… Sublight Lounge Menu …as well as wine and beer. You can also ask the staff to make you a different drink depending on what they have available. More of the Menu At this lounge, we were able to try the Fiery Mustafarian, which is served with lava extract! This drink is priced at $17 and features Anejo tequila, mezcal, stone fruit, lime, chili, and black salt. Fiery Mustafarian If you’re looking for something bright in terms of color, you could try the Hoth Icebreaker. This drink is priced at $18 and features rum, lemon, pure cane sugar, and vanilla-lemon foam. Our Drink! Also available at Sublight Lounge is the Cloud of Bespin drink. This is priced at $15 and is made with rum, lemon, orgeat (almond), passion fruit, and falernum-lemon foam. Bespin Drink But the Sublight Lounge is so much more than just Sabacc games and drinks. There are also some great snacks here and (spoiler alert) we absolutely LOVED most of these snacks (some of them were even favorite items of ours across all of the things we ate at the hotel). Sublight Lounge Food Menu On the snack menu, you’ll find Smoked Redfish Littletubes (Felucian gardenleaf and redfish roe)… The Littletubes …Mustafar Tuber Chips (dusted with sriracha and charcoal vinegar)… Chips …Crispy-dried Green Beans (served with a creamy green pearberry dip)… Green Bean Time …a Little Flatbread (with pepperoni and herb-vinegar sauce)… Flatbread …Smoked Cheese en Cloche (which comes with white cheddar with bacon and jalapeno crusted in dried cheddar, black goat cheese crusted in pumpkin seeds, and smoked gouda with crushed pistachios) has an incredible presentation (if you smell smoke in the lounge, it’s likely because someone’s ordered the Smoked Cheese)… What do you think? …Hummus and Quinoa “Meatballs” (featuring pepper stew with chickpea bites)… Our “Meatballs” …and Felucian Snack Bites. Snack Time Which of these snacks are must-gets? We’ve got it all broken down for you in our review. Click here to see the FULL Sublight Lounge review Activities Ship Muster Get ready for some drama! What started as a normal muster drill with Captain Riyola Keevan and Cruise Director Lenka Mok quickly devolved into an evening of adventure. Our Cruise Director Different characters got involved, and before we knew it, we were deep into an immersive story. The First Order barged in! You never know who you might see onboard, and most activities are more than meets the eye. Just know that any big activities that take place in the Atrium are probably going to contain pivotal plot moments, so it’s a good idea to attend those! The Bridge Bridge Training was a 45-minute experience that ended up being pretty exciting. To start, guests were assigned to four different stations (systems, weapons, shields, loaders). From there, everyone rotated around to each station as a crew member told us where to go. Our training started out pretty simple. What an experience! We started with little interactive games; first on the small screens in front of us, following the instructions as we went. We started on these little computers Then, once we had a little practice, we got to test our skills out in space! Then we got to try it in space! This involved a lot of button-pressing and general computing. Until… We became experts (sort of)! …the Captain arrived! Captain Riyola Keevan informed us that she needed our help. She talked to her computer for a bit, at which point we found out that our assistance was needed to save a rescue pod. The Captain needed our help! Using the skills we just learned in our training, we helped save the rescue pod, which had a very important character on board! We had to help save someone! That’s right — one minute we’re on a relaxing cruise, the next we’re saving Star Wars heroes from imminent danger. The Engineering Room The Engineering Room was actually one of our favorite activities on the Starcruiser. Lots of guests are directed to this room on missions early on in the story, so you’ll likely get to it soon after you arrive if you start doing missions right away on your Datapad. Engineering Room Since a lot of people head there early on, it can get pretty crowded on the first day of the cruise. So if you’re hoping for more time to play here, head to the Engineering Room around mid-afternoon on Day 2, when more people are on their Batuu excursions. There will likely be a lot fewer people! Solving a Puzzle But what exactly happens in the Engineering Room? This area has all kinds of buttons, levers, dials, and gears, and you can go to different stations to play with them. Sometimes it’s as simple as pulling a lever to set off some smoke or turn on lights. But other stations require you to solve more complex puzzles. For example, we had to follow lines to see which letter in Aurebesh (a Star Wars language) was lighting up. We combined the letters to crack a code. Puzzles The room kind of reminded us of a science museum — there was a lot to do all around the room, and it was very interactive. This is a great place to go if you just have some time and want to play around! Sometimes there will be Cast Members or characters in here, and they’ll probably ask you for help to fix a problem in the room. Cast Member There are activities for all ages, so little kids can enjoy playing with all of the buttons and seeing what they do while adults work on the puzzles and codes. Lots to do here! Oh, and we’ve got a secret about this room. You didn’t hear it from us, but there’s actually a little door that goes from the Engineering Room to the brig! And that means you can break someone OUT of the brig through this door if you need to. We’re not saying this will definitely happen, but that knowledge might come in handy… . Lightsaber Training Pod This is something Star Wars fans dream about, and we were lucky enough to try it out; we learned how to wield a lightsaber! We’ve been waiting for this! The room was pretty small and dimly lit, which really set a dramatic mood. The pod Once inside, our instructor gave us the rundown, explaining how to follow the light while holding a lightsaber. She showed us the way! Basically, those little boxes shot out a beam of light, and using your lightsaber, you would aim accordingly. The training was set up so that there were four people in the front row with lightsabers and four people in the back with shields. Each person would rotate positions so that everyone had the chance to use both the lightsaber and the shield. We followed the light! If a guest had their lightsaber or shield in the right spot, the light would blink. As everyone continued to rotate, the movements became harder. It got progressively harder About halfway through, though, our instructor became a little emotional at the sight of our work. We used the force! We built up our skills until we were ready to rely on the force instead of the lights. It was an emotional time, apparently In the unexpected event that the lightsaber training goes down, crew members may activate an extra late-night training session. Keep in mind that the schedule is flexible, though, and nothing is guaranteed. Outer Rim Regalia On the evening of the first day, there’s a Star Wars Fashion Show! So if you came prepared with a stellar space outfit, it will not be in vain. You can head to the Atrium and sign up to be part of the show. Did someone say fashion show?! Cast Members will ask you to announce your name and where you’re from, and then you can perform your best model walk down the carpet while a PhotoPass photographer (and probably a ton of adoring fans) takes your picture. It’s called Fashion. Note that these PhotoPass pictures are not free — you’ll have to pay extra if you want to download them after the show or buy Memory Maker for unlimited downloads during your trip. Droid Racing Kids and adults alike can participate in droid racing, where you’ll compete against other guests with remote-controlled droids. Droid Racing You can bring your own droid if you built one at Galaxy’s Edge or use one that the Starcruiser provides for this event! Sabacc Tournament The popular Star Wars game Sabacc is a big deal on the Starcruiser. You can head to the Sublight Lounge to play on the one-and-only Holo-Sabacc table, which is also where the Sabacc Tournament takes place. The Sublight Lounge If you don’t know how to play, no worries. Cast Members explain the rules to guests, and it’s a pretty simple game! You can also ask for help during the game. A Stormtrooper helped us win a hand, so basically we’re on the Dark Side now. During the tournament, Cast Members keep track of the winners and fill out a bracket. Guests compete and are eliminated when they lose until a single winner emerges! Holo Sabacc Table There’s only one Holo-Sabacc table, which means there may be a lot of people wanting to use it. During our stay, we found that most guests were good about hopping up after their game and letting others take a turn. There were also Cast Members nearby monitoring the game. But if you’re hoping to play at a less-busy time, you can try visiting during the afternoon on Day 2 when other people are off on Batuu. Anyone Up for a Game? And even if the hologram version isn’t available, you can play normal Sabacc (with physical cards) anywhere in the lounge or Atrium. Sabacc Cards Just ask a Cast Member for cards, and they can bring you some and explain the rules of the game. Porg Detection Drill You all know what Porgs are — they’re the adorable little creatures in Star Wars that look kinda like tiny orange-and-white penguins. Porgs During the Porg Detection Drill, kids can head to the Engineering Room to solve puzzles and perform other tasks in order to find all the escaped Porgs. A Cast Member told us that this activity was for “younglings,” which is Space-language for little kids. Random Character Interactions There are all kinds of character interactions onboard the Starcruiser. We won’t give away too much here, but just know that you’ll run into several Star Wars characters during your stay — some new and some familiar. Gaya and the First Order Lieutenant You may help smuggle a character on board or hide another character’s luggage. Or maybe someone will send you on a secret mission to transport coordinates or input a code in the Engineering Room. Ouannii We interacted with the characters a lot during our visit, and they worked hard to learn our names and build a relationship with us. The interactions felt very involved and meaningful, which made the whole experience feel incredibly immersive. Everyone took the time to get to know us! Keep in mind that what you get out of these interactions will depend on what you put into them! If you seek out characters and initiate more conversations, you’ll get to know them better and become more involved in the story. Participation makes the whole experience a lot more fun! Entertainment The REAL Lightsaber Remember a while back when Disney announced that they had built a REAL lightsaber? They later revealed that the lightsaber would officially debut at this hotel, although we weren’t given many details. Josh D’Amaro with a lightsaber at Destination D23 Well, we can confirm that this lightsaber made an appearance during our visit to the Starcruiser! Without giving away too many spoilers, we’ll just say that Rey used the saber (Disney announced previously that it was her lightsaber) during a big finale scene in the story. Rey with the Lightsaber And no, guests cannot use this lightsaber during the lightsaber training (in fact, guests cannot use this lightsaber at all). As skilled as we are with the Force, we’re actually kind of glad that we weren’t asked to handle a real-life lightsaber. A Halcyon Starcruiser Celebration On night 2 of our voyage, we ended up in the Atrium after some very exciting developments in the story (no spoilers here!). Once the situation was resolved, all of the guests moved to the bridge to look out into space for the “special pyrotechnic display,” AKA space fireworks! Space fireworks! There are a bunch of different kinds of fireworks during this show, from colorful explosions… Pretty! …to giant golden spheres. Whoa! This isn’t your average fireworks show, folks! In fact, it’s very different from normal fireworks because these actually take place on a large screen instead of in real life. What planet do you think this is? So there aren’t actually any REAL fireworks, although the show was still very fun to watch. Click here to learn more about the fireworks show on the Starcruiser. Batuu (aka Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge) Excursion The excursion to Batuu started bright and early! We received a special pin to indicate that we were Starcruiser passengers. We got a special pin! From there, we were taken to the transport vehicle. Keep in mind that currently, masks are still required on enclosed transportation vehicles. Crew members will give you a mask if needed. To Batuu! After we arrived, a friendly guest services Cast Member let us know that we could use the Lightning Lane to ride the Galaxy’s Edge attractions, including Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. We were also informed that any packages we purchased could be brought back to the Cast Member at the Starcruiser entrance, and they would take them back to the ship or our cabin, depending on our preference. This is where we entered Batuu! On Batuu, guests can grab lunch at any quick service restaurant, and the meal is included in the cost of your stay. This quick service credit gets you one entrée and a drink (including alcoholic beverages). Food and drink! You may be asked to complete certain missions in Batuu as well, or you can just take the time to explore this land and go on some rides. Secret message from Oga’s Cantina — OOOH In the event that Rise of the Resistance is down during your excursion, you may be able to get a Lightning Lane for another day. Keep in mind that the recovery process may vary, but you can talk to Guest Services onboard if necessary. Click here to learn more about the Batuu excursion. Guest Costumes Get ready to “don your galactic best” because unlike a visit to the Disney Parks, guests onboard the Galactic Starcruiser are able (and even encouraged) to dress in costume! While this is certainly not mandatory, there’s no better time to throw on your Jedi robe than during your stay. First Order Lieutenant And, if you don’t have a costume to wear, Disney has you covered! The Chandrila Collection is a “stylish boutique” (aka merchandise store) onboard the starcruiser that features “galactic attire” including costumes! Costumes Just keep in mind that there are some limitations to what you can wear. Here are Disney’s guidelines for costumes onboard the Starcruiser: Costumes that may distract from the experience of other Guests are not permitted. All Guests may dress as their favorite character, but they may not pose for pictures or sign autographs for other Guests. Costumes must be family-friendly and may not be obstructive, offensive, objectionable or violent. Costumes may not contain any props or accessories that resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon. Costumes may not contain sharp objects, pointed objects or materials that may accidentally strike another Guest. Layered costumes or costume props that surround the entire body are strongly discouraged and may be subject to additional security screening. Acceptable accessories include transparent wings, plastic lightsabers, toy swords and tutus. Costume headwear may be worn as long as it does not cover the face. Guests ages 13 and under may wear some costume masks; masks may not cover the entire face and must provide unobstructed peripheral vision at all times with openings that allow the eyes to be fully seen. Costume masks of any kind may not be worn by Guests ages 14 and older. And, here are the costume guidelines for guests during their excursion to Batuu: Costumes, like full-length robes, may not reach or drag on the ground. Capes may be worn if the length does not go below the waist. Additionally, all guests must abide by the theme park attire policy. Merchandise Need to buy some souvenirs of your time in space? Head on over to The Chandrila Collection onboard the Halcyon to grab some stylish gear, costumes, jewelry and more! You can even get a Twi’lek Headpiece to become an alien during your time on the ship. You could be a Twi’lek You can also grab apparel worn by your favorite Star Wars characters, including the iconic Princess Leia Dress seen in Return of the Jedi. Be like Princess Leia Or wear a Captain’s Jacket like Captain Keevan. Captain’s Jacket If you’re a Lightsaber fan, you might want to pick up the EXCLUSIVE Lightsaber Hilt that’s only available here. Legacy Hilt There are also many more clothing items, pins, patches, mugs, and other souvenirs to help you remember your time on the Galactic Starcruiser. The address for the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Terminal is: 201 South Studio Drive Bay Lake, Florida 32830 Only guests who have an active reservation will be permitted at the terminal and will need to arrive between 1PM to 4PM on the first day of their voyage. Valet parking is included in the cost of your stay and according to the website, Disney should also provide transportation to/from a Disney World Resort hotel if you’ll be staying at a hotel before or after your voyage. What if I have special dietary needs or allergy-friendly requests? According to Disney’s website, guests with special dietary or allergy-friendly requests will need to visit the Crown of Corellia Dining Room for a consultation once they’ve boarded the Galactic Starcruiser. During this consultation, guests will meet with a Chef or Crew Member trained in special diets to discuss and plan for each meal onboard. This must be done between 1PM and 4PM on the first day of the voyage. Those that require pureed meals, adhere to medically restricted diets (like very low-protein diets), or prefer a kosher or halal meal, will also need to email Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com between 7 and 14 days before your trip. Keep in mind that if you’re looking for plant-based meals that are made without meat, eggs, dairy, or honey, you will NOT need to attend the consultation on Day 1 because these options are already available on the Halcyon. Disney notes that for guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel before or after their stay aboard the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, transportation to or from their Disney Resort hotel will be provided and included in the cost of their stay. This wasn’t being offered during our media stay here — so we will keep you posted. What Quick Service restaurants can I eat at when visiting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge? The cost of your stay includes a meal at ANY Quick Service location in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. However, if you’d like to stay immersed in the Star Wars story during your excursion to Batuu, Disney suggests that you dine at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo. What if I get claustrophobic? There aren’t any windows onboard the Starcruiser (aside from the ones that offer views into space, of course), so Disney has created a unique solution for those who might experience some claustrophobia! Right beside the spot where you can hop into a Launch Pod, you’ll find the Climate Simulator. Climate Simulator This is woven into the Star Wars story as an outdoor garden simulator, but it’s basically an outdoor courtyard that you would find at any other hotel where guests can go to get some fresh air and sunshine. Do I need to tip Crew Members during my stay? Gratuities for food service are included in the cost of your stay at the Galactic Starcruiser, however, gratuities for valet parking, cabin or suite cleaning, and other services are not. If you would like to provide a tip for these, you will need to tip at the time of service as gratuities will not be asked for at the end of your stay like they would on a cruise ship.
