Disney4me Posted January 2, 2022 Report Posted January 2, 2022 If you’re celebrating the new year by heading to Disney World in January, you might want to know what’s going to be closed in the parks and hotels. Splash Mountain There are a few closures — including a couple of MAJOR rides — happening next month. Find out which attractions, rides, transportation, and hotels will be closed in January. We’ll start out by looking at the rides and attractions that have scheduled refurbishments in Disney World. Magic Kingdom Magic Kingdom has a couple of big attractions that will be closed for at least part of January. Splash Mountain Splash Mountain is closing for a scheduled refurbishment from January 10th through February 10th. Splash Mountain This ride usually gets some updates during this time of the year. This is not the big refurbishment that Disney announced, which will turn the attraction into a Princess and the Frog-themed ride. ©Disney Princess and the Frog concept art Disney hasn’t set a date for that update, so we’re not sure when that will happen. For now, we’ll probably just see some routine maintenance. Splash Mountain Walt Disney World Railroad The Walt Disney World Railroad is also still closed in Magic Kingdom, and this ride doesn’t have a reopening date yet. Walt Disney World Railroad The attraction closed for some refurbishments and also because of construction happening in Tomorrowland on the upcoming TRON: Lightcycle Run roller coaster that interrupted the train tracks. TRON Construction The railroad probably won’t fully open until TRON construction finishes, and we’ll keep you updated with any news about the timelines for those two attractions. Expedition Everest This ride takes guests on a journey through the Himalayas in search of the yeti. But during its closure, you can check out some other popular rides in Animal Kingdom like Kali River Rapids, Avatar: Flight of Passage, and Kilimanjaro Safaris. To the mountain Finding Nemo: The Musical Finding Nemo: The Musical is also still closed in this park, and it’ll return sometime in 2022 (although we don’t have a specific date yet) with a few updates. Finding Nemo: The Musical The new show will be based on the timeline from Finding Dory, and it will keep some fan-favorite songs from the original show.
