Disney4me Posted December 9, 2020 Report Posted December 9, 2020 We found out less than a month ago that Park Hopping will soon be returning to Walt Disney World. EPCOT Monorail With this change comes the return of park-to-park transportation and a whole host of new planning challenges — especially with the Disney Park Pass system still in use! With Park Hopper tickets costing more than regular tickets (some single day tickets are over $200), is this upcharge really going to be worth it? We asked our readers to find out what they think. “When Park Hopping Returns in 2021, Do You Think the Extra Cost of a Park Hopper Ticket Will Be Worth it?” We posted the question to our Instagram story, and over 11,000 of our followers responded to the question. Here’s a chart of what they said: Will Park Hopping Be Worth the Extra Cost in 2021? More than 4,700 people voted “yes”, that Park Hopping would be worth the cost, but more than 6,200 people voted that it wouldn’t be worth it. Let’s break down their responses. “Yes,” Park Hopping Is Worth the Extra Cost Of the 43% of people who said that Park Hopping would be worth it next year, we got several interesting responses. Many of our readers love the flexibility that Park Hopping allows. Some of our readers said that they didn’t really care to spend entire days in each park, with one saying “Not even 3PM at Animal Kingdom and we’re done. Would be great to hop over to another park for the evening.” Animal Kingdom Another reader shared that he and his wife don’t like to spend a lot of time at Magic Kingdom, so Park Hopping works well for when they want to enjoy a few extra hours in the other parks. One person even said that they didn’t realize how much they missed Park Hopping until Disney took it away! (Which we totally understand!) “No,” the Cost of Park Hopping Isn’t Worth it However, the majority of people (57% to be exact) had some different things to say. One reader shared that they didn’t think Park Hopper tickets would be worth the price until Disney returns capacity to 100%. They said that since the hopping between parks depends on capacity, it simply wasn’t worth the risk of not getting into your desired park. Toy Story Land With some Disney parks (especially Hollywood Studios) filling up in advance on the weekends and holidays, we see where this could be a challenge for some. With restrictions on the new Park Hopping system like not being able to change parks until after 2PM, there could be some hurdles to jump for those that like to keep their planning open-ended. “It Depends” And a Variety of Other Responses Not all of our readers fit simply into the “yes” or “no” categories though. We had a few send in responses that depended on certain scenarios. One reader said, “Depends on the hours and how they will communicate which parks have what capacity.” We’ve had similar thoughts…what if you leave one park to go to another, but by the time you arrive the park is full? We’ll likely have to wait until Park Hopping returns to get some of these questions answered. Magic Kingdom Another follower shared that they would ONLY buy the Park Hopper tickets if park hours return to normal. Since COVID, we’ve seen decreased park hours, and even though they’ve increased a bit for the holiday season, it looks like they’ll go back to being shorter in the new year. With less time to enjoy the parks, it could potentially make Park Hopping a bit stressful. EPCOT entrance With several unanswered questions about the technicalities of the new system, we may just have to wait and see how we feel about the new Park Hopping system.
