Disney4me Posted March 23, 2020 Report Posted March 23, 2020 Hooray for Hollywood! We just LOVE this park! Hollywood Studios There is SO much to do — from joining up with Poe and Rey at Rise of the Resistance to climbing aboard Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, there is quite a full day of fun to be had here. And since you’re getting there early to get a Rise of the Resistance Boarding Group, you’ll need to fuel up! A few Quick Service spots have recently added breakfast to their menu — like ABC Commissary or the Milk Stand in Galaxy’s Edge. But sometimes, we find ourselves craving more than just a bite on the go, and recently decided to dine at Hollywood and Vine! Hollywood and Vine is a character buffet, featuring Disney Junior Characters at Breakfast, and classic characters in seasonal costumes for lunch and dinner. Last winter we had a holly jolly time at Minnie’s Holiday Dine — you can read that review here! But would how would breakfast stack up? Keep reading to find out! Atmosphere: Hollywood and Vine is located on Echo Lake, a short walk from the entrance of the park. Hollywood and Vine Outside You’ll check in for your meal, regardless if it’s the Play n’ Dine Breakfast or Minnie’s Seasonal Dine at lunch or dinner, at a podium outside. Play n’ Dine Photo Opp Once inside, there’s a cute photo background featuring the stars of the meal (more on them in a bit!). Make sure to snag a pic of your little ones here! Column Decor One subtle thing we love is that Hollywood and Vine changes their column signs based on what meal they’re serving! Seating The decor and seating of Hollywood and Vine is reminiscent of an old diner — the kind the stars of Hollywood would visit late at night after a long movie shoot or big premiere. You’ll find a variety of booths and tables — all designed to get in and out of easily as you’ll be rubbing elbows with big stars and visiting the buffet. Table The theming isn’t over the top, but we like the subtle accents, such as the black and white tile floor and art deco light fixtures. Light Fixtures Along the walls, you’ll spot big posters advertising Hollywood! What else? Atmosphere Overall, it’s a bright and lively restaurant — a lovely setting to meet your favorite characters! Atmosphere Speaking of characters, let’s check out the stars of the show! Characters: Buckle up Disney Junior fans, cause four of your faves are coming to your table! During our breakfast we got to: Twirl with Fancy Nancy… Fancy Nancy …get a little batty with Vampirina… Vampirina …talk about stuffed animals with Doc McStuffins… Doc McStuffins …and be a little goofy with…Goofy!! Goofy As with any character meal, no one is guaranteed, but this the group you’re most likely to see. If you’ve got little ones who love Disney Junior, this is a great gang to meet all at once! Just think of all of the outdoor character lines you’re skipping — plus you’re inside eating breakfast! Eats: As we mentioned earlier, Hollywood and Vine is a buffet restaurant, serving up lots of classic breakfast eats. Like most Disney buffets, a classic beverage is included, such as coffee, tea, juice, or soda. Coffee Our server brought us a whole pot of coffee which we were VERY thankful for! You can also upgrade to a specialty or alcoholic beverage should you fancy — and remember, those on the dining plan can get one of these as an included part of their meal! Breakfast Cocktails Menu Now that we had enough coffee for the day, we decided to check in on the buffet! First up, a cold bar with a variety of items. Bread There was a variety of bread and bagels — and there is a toaster available should you want anything toasted! Cold Bar On the cold bar were fresh fruits, as well as cottage cheese, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, and spreads for your breads. Cold Bar Muesli Strawberry Yogurt Next up, a few serve yourself hot dishes — Cheesy Grits and Oatmeal. Hot Station Cheese Grits There are toppings for your oatmeal as well — brown sugar, granola, and raisins — should you want to jazz it up. Oatmeal Scooting right along we found one of our favorite sections: the Pastry Bar! Select from Raspberry Danishes… Raspberry Danishes …Apple Lattice Danishes… Apple Lattice Danishes …Cheese Danishes… Cheese Danishes …Blueberry Muffins… Blueberry Muffins …or Chocolate Muffins! Chocolate Muffins And remember — this is all you care to enjoy so you don’t have to choose just one! We also spotted some croissants, both classic and multigrain. Croissants Next up, the hot bar! The first section was full of classic breakfast eats. We spotted scrambled eggs… Scrambled Eggs …bacon… Bacon …roasted red potatoes with onions… Roasted Red Potatoes with Onions …carved ham… Ham …cheesy potato casserole… Cheesy Potato Casserole …and sausage patties! Sausage Patties While simple, we found that each of these breakfast classics were cooked well! Plus, there should be an option for everyone in the family. The next section on the hot bar brought us both a Southern and Southwestern staple. Sink into biscuits and gravy… Biscuits …or use flour tortillas provided to make a breakfast taco with these spicy chorizo eggs! Chorizo Scrambled Eggs There was a small toppings bar for your tacos as well, with sour cream, salsa, and cheese. Taco Toppings Bar These tacos turned out to be one of our favorite eats of the day! We loved the build your own aspect, plus the subtle heat from the chorizo and peppers in the eggs. It wasn’t overwhelmingly hot, but had a lot of good flavors. If you’re looking for something slightly more adventurous on your plate, we definitely recommend making one of these! Breakfast Taco Continuing with the hot eats — we still have a few more skillets to choose from! There are French toast sticks… French Toast Sticks …a corn beef hash… Corn Beef Hash …chicken sausage (which was REALLY good. Surprisingly good.)… Chicken Sausage …spoonbread casserole… Spoonbread Casserole …and a plant-based zucchini strata. Zucchini Strata Rounding out the main buffet, was a made to order Omelet Station! Omelet Station Sign Choose from a wide variety of fillings, and a Chef will make it to order! We quite enjoyed this one — stuffed with ALL the veggies, cheese, and chorizo. And if you’re on a special diet, make sure to ask — they often have egg whites available for the omelets as well. Omelet We also had to visit the Kid’s Buffet of course. (And don’t forget — anyone is welcome to grab the yummy eats off the kid’s buffet! Kids get all the good stuff. ) Kid’s Buffet Did you even go to a character breakfast if you didn’t eat a Mickey waffle? Mickey Waffles You’ll also find warm berry sauce and chocolate sauce to top them with! Chocolate Sauce Warm Berry Sauce Those warm sauces go great on these pancakes too! Pancakes Mickey Waffles and Pancakes Rounding out the kid’s buffet are tater tots — which we can agree are great any time of day. Tater Tots Speaking of tater tots — you’re probably wondering if ketchup is available. It sure is at the condiment station! Condiment Station This is also where you’ll find syrup for your pancakes and waffles (and anything else your heart desires). Pancake Syrup We spotted some cereal here as well. It may not be the most exciting breakfast choice but don’t forget — this meal is catered to young kids! And young kids love fruit loops. Cereal Milk for Cereal Also near the condiments are what every breakfast needs: DESSERT! Dessert Station Enjoy apple crisp and bread pudding — and you can top either off with a vanilla sauce! Apple Crisp Bread Pudding Vanilla Sauce Rounding out dessert — and our meal in general — was a soft-serve ice cream machine! Soft Serve Ice Cream Choose from chocolate, vanilla, or swirl ice cream, and top it off with chocolate, caramel, or sprinkles! Ice Cream Toppings That concludes the many options at the Hollywood and Vine Breakfast Buffet. WHEW — that’s a lot of eats! Everything we had was tasty and well prepared. As we said this meal is aimed at little kids, so there isn’t as much variety as other character buffets (say, Tusker House for example. You can read a recent review here!). That said, you’re going to get a good quality breakfast — plus Disney junior fans will be living their best lives. Overall: Hollywood and Vine continues to be a quality character breakfast. You’re going to get Mickey waffles, eggs, and bacon — plus a few slightly more exciting dishes. Plus soft-serve ice cream, which is very important. Of course, the main reason to dine here is the characters. If no one in your party knows who Fancy Nancy is, you’re better off saving the money and eating at a quick-service spot in the park. But if you’ve got small kids who want to meet these characters anyway, it’s a great way to avoid lengthy individual lines at the Character Meet and Greets later, all while eating waffles and being in air conditioning. Around here, we call that a win-win-win. Learn more about Character Dining in Disney World with this DFB Video!
