Disney4me Posted February 16, 2020 Report Posted February 16, 2020 Flo’s V-8 Cafe in Cars Land at Disney California Adventure can help you travel back in time to enjoy the sights and tastes from decades ago. The interior has plenty of vintage car detailing, and the menu is packed with comfort food that puts a twist on some old favorites. Flo’s V-8 Cafe Our visits to Flo’s Cafe have left felt like a rollercoaster of highs and lows, so how have all the changes shaken out recently? We’re here to see if Flo’s is worth a pit stop! We used to love Flo’s tasty menu (see this review with some delicious eats!), but when the menu changed last spring, we were a biiiiiit disappointed. Check out our review right after the new menu dropped when we found dry fried chicken and pot pie that just didn’t work for us. Flo’s V-8 Cafe So we’re back to give Flo’s another try, this time with Flo’s Famous Fried Chicken and the Ka-Cheeseburger. Ka-Cheeseburger and Flo’s Famous Fried Chicken The Ka-Cheeseburger (it’s ka-chow for mealtime!) is a 1/3-pound Angus beef patty topped with cheddar cheese, 1000 Island dressing, and caramelized onions. It was served on a sesame seed bun with a side of steak fries. Ka-Cheeseburger There was iceberg lettuce and a slice of tomato on the side so you could build it up a bit if you’re so inclined. Ka-Cheeseburger The burger patty itself was fairly standard — a little overcooked and dark. But the flavor of the patty itself was fine. The toppings were actually where this sandwich shined. The caramelized onions were terrific, and we wanted to get some in every bite. The dressing was good, too — slightly tangy and a nice bit of moisture for the burger. Ka-Cheeseburger We enjoyed this, despite the dry burger. It was a flavorful combination and satisfying overall. Ka-Cheeseburger We speculate Flo’s Famous Fried Chicken is famous for two reasons: one good, one not. Flo’s Famous Fried Chicken The real positive here was the side of garlic mashed potatoes. These were rich and awesome (Note: you can sub out the vegetable side for a second helping of mashed potatoes! We totally think this is the way to go.)! The vegetables are seasonal, and we had some lightly seasoned broccoli and baby carrots. These didn’t rev our engines, but hey: vegetables! Feeling healthy! Flo’s Famous Fried Chicken The fried chicken’s claim to fame (on this visit and past trips) is that it’s famously dry. The exterior is a nice golden color, for the most part, but it definitely felt overcooked. Flo’s Famous Fried Chicken This was disappointing, as we know fried chicken can be done really well at the theme park (see: Plaza Inn Fried Chicken!!). Perhaps the quick service nature of Flo’s makes it harder to manage the cooking time. Whatever the reason, that’s two strikes for the Famous Fried Chicken. Flo’s Famous Fried Chicken So the moral of the story: we recommend going to Flo’s for some garlic mashed potatoes and stay for a burger with caramelized onions. Of course, despite this ho-hum experience, we’ll be back to try Flo’s again, hopefully with better results. We believe in you Flo! Check out one of the newest snacks we found in Cars Land HERE!
