Disney4me Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago An iconic amusement park in California will officially be closing its gates next year. That’s right: after over 50 years in operation, Six Flags has confirmed a closing date for California’s Great America. ©Six Flags Here is everything you need to know about this official closing date and what guests can expect from the final “Farewell Season” at this beloved park. Six Flags officially shared in a Press Release that California’s Great America will be closing on September 6th 2027, after celebrating one final year and a last Farewell Season. Six Flags explains that this final season will honor “more than 50 years of memories, traditions and iconic attractions. Throughout 2027, Bay Area guests will have a final opportunity to revisit favorite attractions, spend time with family and friends, and celebrate a destination that has been part of so many family outings, celebrations, and milestones.” ©Six Flags The farewell season is set to pay tribute to the legacy of this iconic park and will begin in March 2027 and end on September 6th, 2027. Dave Vosejpka, the park manager of California’s Great America, has shared, “For more than five decades, this Santa Clara theme park has brought people together, created family traditions, and served as the backdrop for unforgettable memories. The Farewell Season is an opportunity for generations of Bay Area guests to return, spend time with family and friends, and revisit the attractions and traditions that have made the park in Santa Clara, California, such a meaningful part of the community.” ©Six Flags In addition to the celebrations happening in the park, the legacy of this park will also be honored by experiences and stories from guests being shared across both their digital and social channels throughout the Farewell Season. We know that Santa Clara locals will be sad to see California Great America close, but we are glad to see that Six Flags is creating a space where the legacy of this park will be honored and guests will be able to experience all the fun during the Farewell Season one last time before the gates officially close. ©Six Flags We will continue to bring you news from Six Flags, Disney, Universal, and so much more!
