Tons of Disneygoers love to collect pins and trade with Cast Members and other guests. There’s a true thrill in building a collection of pins featuring your favorite Disney things. We love pin trading! Of course, with an activity this popular, you’re going to get a variety of different things. That could include how people pin trade, how people feel about certain methods of trading, or how traders may interact with each other. Recently, there’s been some buzz online about a certain trend at EPCOT that completely “sucks the fun” out of pin trading. As we mentioned before, when it comes to a popular activity like this at Disney World, you’re going to get many different thoughts, opinions, and feelings. What’s really been popping up on social media are guests’ thoughts on pin trading at EPCOT’s breezeway. Pin trading at EPCOT The breezeway is an unofficial hub where Disney pin trading enthusiasts gather to trade pins, show off their collections, and meet with fellow collectors and enthusiasts. It’s located right between Connections Cafe and the Creations Shop. As cool as it is for fans to come together like this for just the love of a tradition, it has sparked a lot of controversy lately. Especially coming after a busy day when EPCOT’s Food and Wine Festival kicked off. Pin trading at EPCOT Some Disney guests have been vocally upset about interactions they’ve had with the traders at the breezeway. We’ve seen comments online about traders at the breezeway being rude to guests looking to trade with them. This looked like refusing to trade because pins were “not valuable” or asking guests to go buy something they want (like clothing) and use that to trade for a pin. Trading at breezeway You can see some of these stories in the comments of a TikTok video that was posted by @abigailfaithfoster. In fact, @abigailfaithfoster mentioned in the caption of her post that another guest refused to trade with her because she didn’t know the prices her pins were going for on eBay. You can check out the post below! @abigailfaithfoster Me to the person who said if I didn’t know the value of my pins they wouldn’t trade me and proceeded to eBay search each one of them on her phone for the price (pin trading was literally part of my job for a year). It literally sucks the fun out of it as a guest & a collector. After today catch me being the first one to sign a petition! The breezeway can get pretty crowded, and it can get chaotic when trading is taking place. After all, it is between the most popular quick-service restaurant at EPCOT (Connections Cafe) and the most popular store in EPCOT (Creations Shop), while also being a pathway to the most popular ride at EPCOT (Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind). Not to mention, Club Cool is also there! It can get crowded! We saw someone point out in the comments on the TikTok above that it’s “not even completely about them being rude or nice. It’s also the fact that they take up every single table and bench. It was pouring rain, and I had food and didn’t want to sit inside because it was cold, but I couldn’t sit in the [breezeway] because they had all their pins there. It’s inconsiderate imo.” Trading at breezeway It’s important to remember that everyone’s experience is different! You’re going to have bad interactions, and you’re going to have great interactions. Some people have a problem with this pin trading trend, while others absolutely adore it. There’s something special in Disney fans coming together for something like this, but we all need to be mindful of other guests at Disney World. We’re all there for the same reason — we love Disney!
