Disney4me Posted September 2 Report Posted September 2 Although we were very sad to say goodbye to Muppets Courtyard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios when we closed, we are legitimately excited about what’s taking its place: Monstropolis. For the first time ever, Disney is bringing Monsters, Inc. to life through a new land in a theme park, and we can’t wait to see what the new land has in store. ©Disney Of course, you know us — we’re even MORE excited about eating in the new land, and couldn’t be more thrilled that Disney decided to bring Harryhausen’s from the Monsters, Inc. movie to life, complete with the monster sushi chef from that film. Well, we just got a close look at the animatronic sushi chef you’ll see in the restaurant, and let’s just say our minds are BLOWN. In the Pardon Our Pixie Dust: D23 Edition episode by Walt Disney Imagineering, we got to see the Sushi Chef in all his monstrous glory. And, y’all…he looks EXACTLY like the one in the movie. Just LOOK AT HIM. ©Disney By comparison, here’s what he looks like in the movie. As you can see, the two are pretty much identical, right down to the details, including the bandaged tentacles that make us think this sushi chef is a little careless with the knives. Ouch. ©Disney Walt Disney Imagineering is currently in the final stages of programming the animatronic, and they’re adding some classic gags like audio and visual media to bring him to life. Y’all. We can’t believe he’s going to be REAL. ©Disney You can see him in action here: View this post on Instagram Beyond this, Disney hasn’t revealed a LOT of details about Harryhausen’s, although as far as the menu goes, Disney has said it would feature more than sushi. The restaurant is scheduled to open in 2027 as part of the initial opening phase of the new land, so you know we’ll be there on day one to check it out. ©Disney We’ll keep an eye out for more Disney World news, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
