Disney4me Posted 8 hours ago Report Posted 8 hours ago If you’ve visited Disney’s Hollywood Studios recently, you’ve probably noticed quite a bit of construction happening in the park. First, Animation Courtyard is being reimagined into The Walt Disney Studios, although part of that project has already opened to the public. Then, the old Muppets Courtyard is being reimagined into Monstropolis, a Monsters, Inc.-themed land. ©Disney Well, if you’ve been getting excited about Monstropolis, it’s time to get even more excited. We’ve got a construction update from the construction site itself! The last time we checked in, we noticed a lot of cranes on site, doing all the things that cranes do. Well, that hasn’t changed, meaning that work is still well underway on the land. Crane on the construction site We also noticed scaffolding on a lot of the existing structures, and that is also still the case, meaning that the exteriors of these buildings are about to undergo some MASSIVE changes. LOTS of scaffolding There are also scrims now attached to some of the scaffolding, which we assume will come down once the major parts of the exterior work begin. Disney doesn’t want to reveal Monstropolis too early, after all! So we imagine that this view might change soon. There are scrims on the scaffolding There’s also still scaffolding around the water tower, as Disney preps to turn it into something that blends in better with the new land. It’s still seen in the concept art, so we don’t expect it to be removed. A lot of Monstropolis is being built on the bones of what was once Muppets Courtyard. Work on the water tower Monstropolis will feature two attractions, including Disney’s first-ever suspended roller coaster based on the doors scene from the first Monsters, Inc. movie, and yes, that scene has ALWAYS been something that a lot of folks (ourselves included) wanted to see turn into a ride. And it’s REALLY HAPPENING. ©Disney There will also be some sort of show in the Glob Theater, although Disney has not yet said what kind of show or entertainment this building will house. At this point, we’re really only assuming it’s a show, but it being a theater suggests that’s what it is. ©Disney We’ll continue to keep an eye on construction on Monstropolis, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
