Disney4me Posted March 13 Report Posted March 13 If you’re planning a vacation to Disney World, you might already be dreaming of Mickey bars, churros, and Cheeseburger Spring Rolls, but you need to know that not all Disney food is good food. Pizza at Pizzafari When you visit Disney World, food is a big part of the experience. From iconic snacks to fan-favorite quick service meals, there are plenty of dishes that are worth your time and money. But let’s be honest, not every meal at Disney is a winner. While we’ve found some incredible eats across the parks, every now and then we stumble across something that makes us wonder… how did this make the menu? So in the name of science (and curiosity), we decided to try one of the most notoriously disliked items in Magic Kingdom We’re talking about the plant-based “cheese” pizza at Pinocchio Village Haus. You’ll find this quick-service spot tucked into Fantasyland overlooking “it’s a small world,” and among its menu options is a plant-based pizza designed for guests avoiding dairy. Sounds simple enough: a classic pizza topped with tomato sauce and plant-based cheese. But as we quickly discovered… simple doesn’t always mean satisfying. Pinocchio Village Haus At first glance, this pizza looks like a pretty standard theme park slice. It’s got sauce, melted cheese, and a thin crust. Nothing about the appearance really prepares you for what comes next. The dairy-free cheese used here is made by Follow Your Heart, a brand many plant-based eaters might recognize from grocery stores. It’s relatively easy to find and commonly used as a vegan alternative in recipes. However, once it melts, the texture tends to be very different from traditional cheese. Plant-based “Cheese” Pizza Instead of the stretchy, gooey melt you expect from mozzarella, the consistency is closer to warm cream cheese. It’s soft, thick, and gooey in a way that dairy cheese normally isn’t. If you’re already used to plant-based cheese alternatives, you might not mind it, but if you’re expecting a classic pizza experience, the difference is very noticeable. Unfortunately, this pizza leaned heavily into that texture. A slice We tried to give this slice a fighting chance. To boost the flavor, we loaded it up with red pepper flake packets and even added some barbecue sauce. But the problem wasn’t just the taste, but it was the overall texture. The crust was thin and chewy rather than crisp, which, combined with the creamy plant-based cheese, created a texture that was, frankly, hard to handle. The whole thing reminded us a lot of a microwave pizza, and not in a nostalgic way. In fact, after a few bites, it was safe to say our gag reflex was definitely triggered. Not great Unless you already know you enjoy this specific style of plant-based cheese, we wouldn’t recommend ordering this pizza. The texture alone makes it a tough sell, and even with extra toppings, we couldn’t save it. There are simply too many better dining options in Magic Kingdom to spend your money here. Does this look appetizing to you? This plant-based pizza at Pinocchio Village Haus just didn’t work for us. The unusual texture, chewy crust, and cream-cheese-like melt made it one of the most difficult Disney dishes we’ve tried recently.
