Disney4me Posted March 4 Report Posted March 4 There’s perhaps no more beloved area of Disney World than EPCOT’s World Showcase, the World’s Fair-like collection of recreations of various countries around the world. Fan from Japan Pavilion Each pavilion celebrates the culture of the country it represents through attractions, architecture, cuisine, and –– our focus today — souvenirs! These country-specific items allow guests to bring home a part of the culture of the pavilion it’s from. Engraved Perfume Bottle Beginning in France, guests who purchase perfume at the Plume et Palette shop can have their bottle engraved, giving the classic gift a personal touch. Plume et Palette You can also have perfume bottles engraved at Italy’s Il Bel Cristallo, though availability is more limited. Ta-da! Incense Japan’s Mitsukoshi – the only current North American outpost of the large Japanese department store chain that traces its origins to the 1600s – offers a large selection of Nippon Kodo incenses. Each box contains at least 25 sticks of incense, with scenes including Lotus, and our personal favorite, Aqua, which bears a striking resemblance to the distinct smell of Pirates of the Caribbean. Aqua incense Pearl Experience Remaining in Mitsukoshi, we can’t ignore the ever-popular Akoya Pearl experience. For this experience, you get to choose your own oyster to be opened by a Cast Member, and pull out your pearl! While there is some mystery as you don’t know the color, size, or even quantity until it’s opened, every shell is guaranteed to have at least one pearl. The Cast Members will help measure it and polish it after a quick drumming ceremony, and you can even have your pearl set into jewelry, or you can just take home the pearl. Freshly cracked open shell and pearl Trolls Traditional Norwegian trolls have been a major part of the Norway pavilion from the start, and while we can’t see them on the ride anymore — RIP Maelstrom — you can still pick them up in the pavilion’s gift shops. Trolls Hoptimist However, trolls aren’t the only iconic product in Norway. You can also find Hoptimists, the funky bobblehead-esque figurines that we can’t help but smile at every time we see them. Pickle Ornament Day of the Dead Skulls The Mexico pavilion offers a litany of handcrafted items on sale in the Plaza de los Amigos marketplace, including wooden figurines, clothing, musical instruments, and our personal favorite: Colorful glass skulls celebrating Dia de los Muertos, AKA the Day of the Dead. Quite a selection.. These are just a few of the fantastic souvenirs you can find shopping through World Showcase. Stay tuned to DFB for more on Disney’s merchandise offerings.
