“Aisle Lice” Are Causing Chaos in Disney World Restaurants, and We Need To Talk About It

You might remember us talking about aisle lice a while back. They are typically found on airplanes, but now we’re starting to notice them creep up into Disney World restaurants.

What are aisle lice? Luckily, they’re not as gross as the term implies. These are simply people who, when boarding a plane, jump up and clog the paths to the jetway long before their boarding groups are called. This makes it difficult for flight attendants to manage the line and for passengers with earlier boarding groups to get through.

So how are “aisle lice” affecting Disney World restaurants? Well, in a different way, they are, and its having similar effects on others trying to dine at the restaurants.

If you’ve been to Disney World, you might be familiar with Mobile Order. It’s a VERY useful feature in the My Disney Experience app. At many counter service restaurants, you can place your order in the app and select a general time frame that you want to pick it up. When you’re ready for it, you’ll let them know, then you’ll get a notification when your food is ready. It’s a great way to skip the line, continue enjoying the park, and ensuring your food will be ready for you need it.

But here’s the problem: “aisle lice” are beginning to crowd the Mobile Order area of these restaurants.

The people who hurry to stand in the usually small area designated for mobile order just to stand around and wait are who are referring to as “aisle lice” at Disney World restaurants, and it’s causing a lot of congestion. These crowds make it difficult for people who get notified their order is ready to actually get to the counter to pick it up.

Instead of clogging up these small areas, we recommend finding a shop, or a bench outside, or continuing to enjoy some form of entertainment nearby while you wait for your food to be ready. It’s okay if the food sits at the counter for a couple of minutes while you make your way to the restaurant. Of course, we don’t mean be a 30-minute walk away, but five minutes is probably okay. This will help the congestion actually making it a smoother process for everyone, including you.

We definitely recommend using Mobile Order throughout the parks and hotels! It’s a very convenient tool to help you continue enjoying your day without standing in more lines. And since the purpose is to avoid waiting in line, don’t make yourself stand around waiting the same as if you were in a line.
