Is it worth a try? Let’s find out!

Menu

Over at the Flavors of America, you’ll find a variety of available items. Last year, this food booth was a salute to all-American food, but mostly hot dogs. This year, the menu focuses on some New England classics. The featured items this year are: Gulf Coast-style Seafood Roll, a New England Slider, and the returning Freshly Baked Chocolate Pudding Cake.

The beverage options are a whole new flight of beers to try: Harpoon Brewery Flannel Friday Hoppy Amber Ale, Playalinda Brewing Co. Pumpkin Cheesecake Blonde Stout, and von Trapp Brewing Natür Helles Lager.

Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s dive into the food itself!

Eats

First up, we grabbed a Gulf Coast-style Seafood Roll with warm-water lobster, rock shrimp, lobster bisque, and sherry-crème fraîche on a toasted brioche bun for $8.75.

Gulf Coast-style Seafood Roll

This was INCREDIBLE! It was so perfectly meaty, with an amazing amount of lobster for the price. The shrimp is also incredible — the dish is perfectly meaty and not fishy. The lobster bisque was very herbescent, too.

This is amazing!

The sherry-crème fraîche on top makes it feel like you’re eating the best of lobster. The brioche bun was perfectly toasted, yet so soft at the same time. This is 100% one of the best items you can get at the Festival!

We’ll get this again, and again…and again!

Next, let’s dive into the New England Slider. This dish is Slow-braised beef pot roast with spicy giardiniera, horseradish cream, and crispy fried onions on a potato roll for $6.

If you aren’t a fan of horseradish, don’t worry, this was incredible and is NOT to be missed! The potato roll was nice and soft, and the outside had an incredible crust — it gave the texture great contrast. The braised beef was super flavorful; however, it got pretty dry once you got to the middle.

This was good!

The horseradish cream was not overly strong and didn’t give you that feeling that “lights up your nostrils.” If you’re looking for a punch with the horseradish on this thing, it’s not really there. This essentially feels like you’re eating a pot roast on a roll, making it a great comfort food!

It’s a good comfort food option!

And last up from the bites menu is the returning Freshly Baked Chocolate Pudding Cake with Kentucky bourbon caramel for $5. Last year, this was our favorite dish from the booth and made it to the coveted Best of the Fest list! It was slathered in a bourbon caramel sauce, and we mean SLATHERED. So, how does it hold up compared to last year?

Freshly Baked Chocolate Pudding Cake!

The cake is really dense and super chocolatey! The Kentucky bourbon caramel is great — it didn’t stick to our teeth, and it wasn’t too thick. It’s also rich in flavor. It’s not as ooey gooey as we anticipated it to be — it’s more flour-based.

Try this one!

And now on to the drinks!

Drinks

In terms of drinks on this menu, this booth is serving up three new beers, which you can get individually or as a flight. The prices are $5.75 for a smaller pour or $9.75 for a full pour. Or you can grab the flight of all three for $12.75.

Beer Flight!

The beer options include: Harpoon Brewery Flannel Friday Hoppy Amber Ale, which was dark and rich. Hoppy is the perfect word for it; there’s a lot of hops in it that sit in the back of the throat. A lot of the flavor of the beer sits in the back of the mouth rather than the front.

The Playalinda Brewing Co. Pumpkin Cheesecake Blonde Stout. We really liked this one! It’s sweet, and the pumpkin is very subtle, more like a spice. The cheesecake gave us a little bit of a vanilla flavor coming through. You don’t need to go out of your way for this one, but it was a cool taste.

Finally, the von Trapp Brewing Natür Helles Lager. It tasted pretty much like a normal lager to us. It was light and breezy, and easy to sip on. It wasn’t super stout, which we anticipated.

OVERALL

This is a booth you 100% need to check out! It has an amazing dessert in the Freshly Baked Chocolate Pudding Cake, and it has one of our favorite foods at the festival in the Gulf Coast-style Seafood Roll. You won’t want to miss out on this!

That’s it for this booth, but there’s a LOT more where that came from!
