Okay, when it comes to food, we cannot deny that Disneyland goes HARD. Not only with all the amazing seasonal snacks, but also with the year-round snacks and restaurants. Yep, we are BIG fans of Disneyland food.

Atmosphere

You’ll find Lucky Fortune Cookery in San Fransokyo Square. It’s one of several outdoor dining spots in the area, and of course, is themed to the area.

You can either walk up to the main window to place your order, or you can place a Mobile Order and pick it up at the Mobile Order pick-up window. We like the lanterns above the pick-up windows.

We will note that San Fransokyo has a huge seating area shared by all the restaurants here, but when it gets busy, it can be hard to find a table. But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?!

Menu

The food and drinks at Lucky Fortune Cookery are inspired by Asian flavors, although you’ll find some items that are mash-ups of Mexican meets Asian. So while you can get Teriyaki Chicken here, you can also Beef Birria Ramen. This is also the home of the Baymax Macaron. Drinks include a variety of teas, as well as a few alcoholic beverages

And now, onto the main event — the food!

Eats

First up, we grabbed the new Honey Walnut Shrimp Wrap for $13.99. It’s Fried Shrimp tossed in Sweet Honey Sauce, White Rice, Candied Walnuts, Slaw, Green Onions, and Sesame Seeds. Although it’s called a wrap, it’s sized more like a burrito. The shrimp is like a tempura breaded shrimp with a nice sweetness to it. The rice is well-cooked, but what blew us away was the sweet honey sauce. We also liked the crunch from the walnuts. The wrap comes with a side of garlic chips, and they were okay. The garlic taste is faint, but they’re otherwise flavorless. The texture gives us pork rind vibes.

The Beef Birria Ramen is $15.99 comes with Consomé and is served with House-made Birria, Soft-boiled Egg, Monterey Jack, Cilantro, Roasted Corn, Onions, and Radish. We really wanted to like this because almost all the birria we’ve had in Disneyland has been STELLAR. But this was just way too salty. However, the meat was moist and flavorful, and the noodles were cooked to perfection.

The egg was soft-boiled to perfection. We also appreciate the portion size for the prize. But it’s just off, and the saltiness was just too much. This generally gets great reviews from guests, so we could’ve gotten a bad batch or something.

Great noodles

The Pot Stickers are Vegetable and Chicken Pot Stickers for $8.99. We would just like to say that they’re the perfect savory snack. For starters, the crispy pot stickers have a lot of tasty filling. However, the sauce is also AMAZING with its zesty flavor. This is a snack we’d highly recommend if you just want to grab something to go.

Of course, we’re not going to leave here without grabbing the Baymax Macaron. This adorable snack is filled with Chocolate-Hazelnut Spread and Buttercream for $7.79. And it never disappoints. On a scale of one to ten, we’re giving this an 11.

Baymax Macaron

The buttercream and hazelnut spread is SO good, like Ferrero-Rocher good. The macaron as a whole also has the right amount of sweetness.

Drinks

To drink, we picked up the Passion Fruit-Orange-Guava Punch for $7.29.  It’s POG juice punch, so we were already pretty sure we’d love it. It’s so refreshing with the passion fruit and guava the most forward flavors of the drink. We’ll be honest…we could not stop chugging this.

We’re going to need more of this ASAP, and we’re starting a petition for everyone to try it.

Nosh or Not

This Disneyland restaurant is a must-visit if…

  • You want a quick bite to eat. This is a great spot to get food quickly, so when that hanger comes on, you can satisfy it. Using Mobile Order can make it even faster.
  • You want something beyond regular theme park food. The flavors here are not your standard theme park flavors. This is Asian-inspired food that’s a step up from hamburgers and hot dogs.
  • You like Asian flavors. This is Asian-inspired food, after all, so those flavors are all here.

You should skip this Disneyland spot if…

  • You want a guaranteed place to sit. We’ve dined in San Fransokyo Square often, and we find ourselves having to search for a table every time.
  • You want a table service experience. This is a quick service spot, so you’re not going to get the kind of service you would find at a table service restaurant.
  • The weather isn’t great. If it’s cold, hot, or raining, you’ll be stuck eating outdoors. Although the tables in the area are covered, you might not want to eat outdoors.

Overall

Overall, we liked most of what we tried here, save for the Beef Birria Ramen, and being that it’s popular, we might have just visited Lucky Fortune Cookery on the wrong day. But everything else was a stand-out for us, and we will always come back for the Baymax Macaron and the POG punch.

In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disneyland and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!
