Did you know there’s a Tiana’s Palace just like the one in The Princess and the Frog movie?!

Tiana’s Palace in Disneyland

You’ll find the restaurant, inspired by Tiana’s DREAM restaurant in Disney’s The Princess and the Frog, in New Orleans Square at Disneyland! We recently went there to try some popular eats, and we had some thoughts that we had to share with you.

We stopped by Tiana’s Palace to get a few things, four to be exact, and we’re going to break them down one by one. Starting with the House Gumbo, which was $17.49. This house gumbo was absolutely delicious! It’s honestly a treat to have this type of New Orleans-style food at Disneyland. They have rare flavors that don’t contain shellfish, which is hard to find. The gumbo was very meaty with the sausage and the chicken, and the chicken was super tender.

House Gumbo!

The gravy and the sausage both had a little bit of a kick to them. We feel like there is a difference between Disneyland spicy and Disney World spicy — and this was spicy! If you enjoy hot, this will be great for you. We also liked the scoop of rice that came with the dish. We think this could be shared if you aren’t starving, which makes it a decent price for the portion you get!

We loved this!

We also grabbed the Buttermilk Cornbread for $3.99. It’s a pretty sizable square of cornbread, almost like getting two regular-sized corn muffins in a muffin tin. The portion is solid, and we found the bread to be nice and moist and warm and filling — all the things we want in a cornbread!

Buttermilk Cornbread!

It was flavorful and not too sweet — just the right amount of sweetness. It falls apart easily, so eating this with a fork makes the most sense. It was a good contrast of flavors, dipping this in the gravy of the gumbo.

Cornbread dipped in gravy!

We also got the Side Muffaleta Salad for $8.49. The salad is available in an entree size and as a side; we just went for the side size. It has romaine lettuce, ham, salami, cheddar cheese, olives, and then some croutons made out of the cornbread. We really enjoyed this salad!

Muffaleta Salad!

Every bite had a piece of meat and cheese, offering a wide variety of flavors. It’s mixed in altogether very well; nothing is separated. We would come back and get this as an entree in the future!

We really enjoyed this!

For dessert, we got the Classic Beignets for $6.49. Not to be harsh, but we’re struggling to see why they’re even still serving these. They are clearly made to be fillable, they literally have a big hold when you bite into them. It’s like empty nothingness, with no layers — which is not a beignet. They are filled with a little bit of honey and have powdered sugar on top. Tiana would NOT approve.

Classic Beignets!

These aren’t worth it for us! Not worth the money, nor the wait for them. You can find the Mickey Beignets very close to this spot (at the Mint Julep Bar), so we don’t know why there’s a difference between the two. You can walk 20 steps and get better Mickey Beignets — DO THAT instead.

Sorry…don’t get these

Despite the lackluster beignets, we would 100% recommend a stop at Tiana’s Palace. If you’re lucky, you may catch the jazz band playing on the patio here. There is enough variety on this menu to please everyone. There are many things on the menu that we liked, and you really can’t go wrong with anything (except the beignets).

WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! How do you choose (we don’t want to choose but will blow our budget on Day 1 otherwise)? We’ve got you covered! We have reviewed nearly EVERY snack available at Disney World, and we’ve written a series of DFB Guides about them! Check out our DFB Guide to Walt Disney World Dining + Snacks Bundle for all the details you need to plan your snackin’ and spending. You can even download them to your smartphone – it’ll be like we’re right there with you in the parks!
