Ahoy! There’s an opening date in sight now for the Beak and Barrel, the pirate-themed tavern floating into Magic Kingdom.

Walt Disney World says the establishment — which will serve food alongside alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages — will open Aug. 29.  The company will start taking reservations as of Aug. 14.

The pub, located in the theme park’s Adventureland near the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, has a backstory as being a place where swashbucklers of all ages gather. The place, as the Disney story goes, is run by Capt. Meridian “Merry” Goldwyn alongside her first mate/talkative parrot partner Rummy.  The place is themed out, according to the Disney Parks Blog, including miniature ships in bottles that “come alive and engage in a fearsome battle,” an overhead anchor holding candles, a skull-shaped stern and salvaged parts of a shipwreck.

The full menu (and prices) are now posted online at disneyworld.com.  Eye-catching edibles include Kraken’s Catch, a cold salad with octopus tentacles ($18), and cook’s corn griddle cakes ($12. Add chipotle chicken and it’s $14).

On the liquid side, offerings include Siren’s Whisper (white run, blue curacao, peach liqueur, $20) and Salty Seas mARRRgarita, also $20. There’s Plunderer’s Punch (black spiced rum, blackberry, lime and vanilla) in souvenir pirate skull mug for $46.  There are wine and beer selections plus a couple of reserve rum options that go for $45.

The two non-alcoholic specialty drinks are Cursed Treasure (coconut milke, cookie crumbs) for $7.75 and Treasure Trove (ube, lemon, cococnut with vanilla cake plank, chocolate cannonball and popcorn) for $13.75.

In the fine print: The website indicates Beak and Barrel will be available during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.  Advance reservations are recommended, and space is limited.  There will be a maximum of two drinks per guest, and a time limit of 45 minutes per party.

Beverage- and beauty-forward Epcot lounge, Geo-82, opens Wednesday

The pirate place first was announced at a D23 event in September 2023. It will be the second theme park lounge to open recently at Disney World. GEO-82, an adults-only spot incoporated into the lagoon side of Epcot’s Spaceship Earth, debuted in June.
