Atmosphere

The Hearthstone Lounge is at Disney’s Grand Californian resort. It’s known for its dark and cozy vibes where you can curl up with a drink by the fireplace.

The fireplace!

It also has large windows and a big walk-up bar where you can grab a quick bite or a drink to go. It’s not a huge dining area, but it’s chatty and lively without being overwhelming.

Seating

Some of the seating is a traditional tabletop, while other options include couches or booth seating. Each table has warm, subtle lighting with dark, glossy tables to keep the atmosphere cozy.

But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?!

Menu

When it comes to the menu, Hearthstone offers hearty appetizers, artisan pizzas, and desserts. You can also find craft cocktails and specialty beverages, as well as bottled mineral water.

In addition to the starters and pizzas, you can also find salads, sandwiches, and hearty entrees like the New York Prime Steak, Truffle Mac and Cheese, and the Slow Roasted Prime Rib.

And now, onto the main event — the food!

Eats

First up, we grabbed the Chorizo Poutine for $24This is made with seasoned steak fries, chorizo gravy, white cheddar curds, and sweet & hot peppers!

The Chorizo Poutine

This thing was huge! It was easily our favorite of the night. The steak fries that weren’t covered by the toppings were nice and crispy. The chorizo had a decent spice to it, which we appreciated. It wasn’t overwhelming, but if you don’t like spice, it might be too much.

A look at the fries!

The chorizo has a nice pork flavor as well, which adds some great depth. The peppers were sweeter than hot. It was all topped with sharp cheddar cheese, but because of all of the flavors, it didn’t stand out too much.

Some cheese and chorizo!

For our main entree, we tried the Short Rib Lasagna for $36! It has spinach pasta dough, braised beef short rib, bechamel, a trio of cheese, mascarpone, and tomato ragu.

It’s gorgeous!

Luckily for us, the short rib was tender with a rich and savory beefy flavor! It was overly cheesy, which might be too much for some people (like it was for our reporter.) The ratio of short rib pasta and cheese wasn’t as even as we would have liked it to be.

A look at the inside

The short rib was the best part of this dish to us, so we would’ve liked for it to shine a bit more. The sauce was more so chunks of tomato and a very more for more of a liquid base, which made it hard to get lots of tomato flavor with each bite. We can see this one being a great way to warm up on a cool evening.

Have a bite!

For a little something sweet, we grabbed the Cookie Butter Crème Brûlée for $15.

Wow!

It’s made with vanilla crème brûlée, chantilly cream, and cookie butter biscotti. We are big creme brûlée fans, and this was no exception. It was really just a traditional crème brûlée with a slight caramel flavor. The vanilla was perfectly rich, and the chantilly cream made it even lighter and fluffier.

We would recommend scooping the crème brûlée with the biscotti to make it even better.

Drinks

To wash it all down, we grabbed the 70th Celebration Cocktail for $22. It’s made with Michter’s American Whiskey, Domaine Canton Ginger Liqueur, lemon juice, honey syrup, ginger ale, and bitters.

The 70th Celebration Cocktail

This was essentially a Moscow mule but with whisky! There wasn’t any actual mint in the drink, but they used mint leaves as a garnish, which added hints of fresh mint with each sip. This was sweeter than a traditional mule, thanks to the honey syrup.

A closer look at the mint!

There were hints of toffee and caramel from the whisky as well. If you’re a fan of Old Fashions or Moscow Mules, we would recommend this! It’s here to celebrate Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary, so it won’t be around forever.
