  1. Not all Disney World snacks are created equally. In fact, some even have a cult following (we’re looking at you, cheeseburger spring rolls). Cheeseburger Spring Rolls So, when new versions of classic Disney World snacks come out, we feel it’s our job — our duty — to try them out and tell you everything you need to know (maybe because it actually IS our job here at DFB!). Over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, a new lunch box tart has debuted and we’re checking it out! We headed over to Woody’s Lunch Box at Disney’s Hollywood Studios to grab the brand new The Clawwww! Lunch Box Tart for $4.99. This is a key lime curd-filled pastry topped with marshmallow fondant, sugar candy, blue sprinkles, and purple crispy pearls. This sounds like it could be a winner… but was it? The Clawwww! Lunch Box Tart First of all, this might be one of the cutest lunch box tarts we’ve ever seen here — it looks like one of the green Aliens from Toy Story and we love it! But, that might be where our love for this treat ends. We really had to search for that key lime taste, which is usually pretty tart — but we didn’t get any of that here. It was very, very sweet and we wish there had been more of that classic, tart key lime flavor. It was extremely subtle, and we mostly just tasted the pastry and sweetness from the marshmallow fondant along with the sugar from the key lime curd — which was more just like a sweet citrus curd without the sourness. Like a little Green Alien When we broke the tart open, we could hardly spot any real filling on the inside. This could have just been the one we got, but the ratio was definitely off here. If you’re a fan of the lunch box tarts at Woody’s, you might want to give this one a try just for fun — but ultimately, we think it’s probably something we’d recommend skipping. 2. There is a lot going on in Disney World right now. Pop Century Resort From permanent closures to ride updates and new shows, there’s been a lot to keep up with! Now it seems like there might be something that makes the end of your Disney vacation just a bit easier and gives you less to keep up with. It’s never easy leaving Disney World when you’re trip finally ends, but one Disney World resort is testing out something that might make it a bit easier. Before you get too excited, no, the Magical Express isn’t returning. (We know, we’re sad too.) Over at Pop Century Resort, guests who are flying with Southwest can now check their luggage at the resort! Disney’s Pop Century Resort Guests can take their luggage to the luggage assistance desk to drop off their luggage before heading to the airport, so there’s one less thing to lug with them as they depart from their vacation. The trial started today, March 31st, according to Cast Members we spoke with. Although we don’t know if it will be permanent, the Cast Member we spoke with expects it to be a permanent change and to be expanded to other value resorts soon. The luggage assistance desk! This service is free to guests staying at the resort, but there are stipulations. Disney can only take checked luggage so you will still be in charge of your carry-ons. If your flight leaves before 1PM, you must check it the day before. If your flight leaves after 1PM, you must check it at least four hours before, and you must check it by 1PM for same-day flights. MCO Luggage Drop-Off Check-in for luggage starts at 7 AM, so if your flight leaves at noon, you will need to check your luggage the night before. If your flight leaves at 2 PM, you will need to check in by 10 AM the day of your flight. If your flight leaves anytime after 5 PM, no matter the time, your luggage will need to be checked by 1 PM. Luggage Disney can take bulkier items like golf clubs, strollers, or wheelchairs if they are packed and secured properly. You won’t have access to your checked bag until it arrives at your final destination, so make sure you don’t pack anything you will need. Baggage claim at MCO! This will allow guests to bypass the baggage check counter at MCO and could save tons of time at the airport, especially during the busy season. If you want to utilize this service, you must be checked in for your Southwest Flight already to check your luggage at the hotel. After that, your luggage is secured in a van and driven to the airport for processing. Pop Century Resort Lobby Check-In For now, there is no signage for this new offering, so you will need to be aware of the service to utilize it. Cast Members have been alerting guests if it comes up through “normal guest interaction.” When Southwest starts charging for bags, you will have to pay for your bags with the airline to use this service. You won’t be able to add a checked bag and pay for it at the luggage services counter at Pop Century. Disney’s Pop Century Resort This service was previously offered before covid so we’re excited to see it’s potential return. While it’s no Magical Express return, this is great news for anyone flying Southwest and looking for more convenience. We hope to see this expand to other resorts and airlines. 4. A 5-year-old girl watched in wonder as the Mad Tea Party’s swirling teacups at Magic Kingdom went round and round. In awe of the magic, she asked her grandfather, “How does this ride work? Who created this?” These two questions sparked little Stephanie’s dream to become a Disney engineer. From Disney Dream to Reality: Stephanie’s Engineering Journey Stephanie Petty first visited Walt Disney World on a childhood trip with her grandparents. Riding attraction after attraction, she fell in love with Disney and grew curious about how such thrilling rides were brought to life. Her grandfather, an engineer himself, explained how cast members work behind the scenes every day to design, build and maintain iconic park attractions. TOP: Stephanie and her brother at Disney’s Contemporary Resort on a childhood trip. BOTTOM: Stephanie’s children recreating the photo. “I just thought it was so cool that there were people whose whole job was to make rides for other people to go on and make them happy,” Stephanie explained. “That trip is what made me want to become a Disney engineer.” Stephanie took her first steps towards this dream in 2009 on the Disney College Program. After completing her program, she met her husband and took on a new role of mom before returning to her studies and completing her degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2020. “All of the years, the hard work, the late nights studying, waking up early for my children … It was tough, but the one goal that fueled me through it all was getting back to Disney and becoming an engineer,” Stephanie said. “It’s all I ever wanted.” Stephanie Achieves Her Disney World Dream Stephanie was hired as a Disney engineer in 2024, accomplishing that goal she had since she was five. “For me, becoming a Disney engineer was the equivalent of how some people feel about getting into the NFL,” she said. “There were some days that it felt like a long shot, but I knew it was going to work out.” One of Stephanie’s areas of focus as Disney engineer is working on our free modes of transportation across Walt Disney World. This includes Disney Skyliner, monorails, watercraft vehicles and more. “My kids think it’s so cool that I work with the monorails and Disney Skyliner,” Stephanie said. “I remember riding the monorails when I was a kid, and my daughter’s favorite ride when she was little was the parking lot trams. It is surreal to me that now I get to work on those and help make magic for other guests.” Inspiring The Next Generation of Engineers To Stephanie, one of the greatest things about working at Disney is sharing the magic with her children. Her daughter is fascinated with Disney just like she was as a kid and her son wants to be an engineer one day, too. “I’m thankful every day that I get to live out my dream and show my kids that anything is possible. I want them to know that there are few things that can stop you if you put your mind to it,” Stephanie said. And the inspiration that Stephanie instills goes beyond just her own kids. She’s living proof to other aspiring engineers that — just like her — they can go from a young girl watching a magical attraction in awe at Disney World to engineering that magic themselves. “It makes me so happy to know that there are other little girls out there who want to be a Disney engineer,” Stephanie said. “It’s unbelievable that I’ve accomplished that after all these years and can be a source of inspiration for children and other women in STEM.” Interested in starting a career at Disney like Stephanie? 5. For more than 50 years, Walt Disney World has been in the business of fun. At almost twice the size of Manhattan, the Resort’s nearly 30,000 acres is a vacation destination that’s hard to replicate anywhere else. At a panel with a mix of media on Tuesday, Disney World executives shared an inside look at the art and science of how listening to guests is at the core of Disney’s culture of hospitality, and what it all means for helping families find value in unforgettable vacations now and in the future. Why the Disney Bubble Means So Much A Disney vacation can be the culmination of a dream for many guests. In what’s known as the “Disney bubble” to fans, guests embrace nostalgic memories and create new ones from arrival to departure. It’s the idea of having an all-encompassing experience while guests are here, allowing them to visit the parks, stay onsite, dine, shop and use transportation without ever leaving property. “I think I first heard the term from our guest voice when we would ask them, ‘Why are you booking? Why are you coming back?’” Alison Armor, Vice President of Resorts Operations, said. Armor oversees nearly 29,000 rooms at 25+ Resort hotels, and previously led the Resort’s integrated transportation system, so she’s acutely aware of how high the stakes are for a first-class guest experience. “It’s the anticipation and the expectation that they’re going to live in the magic. And that’s what they walk away with, the feeling of immersion in our story from beginning to end,” she explained. “To do that really requires all of us united to make that happen.” Chelsea Filley, Vice President of Customer Experience and Commercial Strategy shared that demystifying the planning process, especially for first time visitors, is key. Guests want to feel confident about their choices so they can enjoy themselves when they arrive in the bubble. “You can truly do everything here,” Filley said. “The bubble is what makes the magic, and you want that magic to feel like ‘I’m making the most of my time here.’” The Transformative Power of Listening With a fan base that is as passionate as Walt Disney World guests, these leaders know that no change — big or small — goes unnoticed. That’s why leaders need to balance both the art and the science of guest feedback. Jason Kirk, Senior Vice President of Operations for the four theme parks, shared that his team is in the parks every day, directly interacting with guests. Paired with data from the Industrial Engineering team, they can resolve simple concerns and find options to address more complex ones. “We have to try to make the best decision for all our guests,” Kirk said. Filley spoke about the challenges of operational complexity during the COVID-19 pandemic. Disney heard loud and clear how those decisions impacted guests, and as a result, the customer experience (CX) team was born. Filley said the team holds the responsibility for understanding the drivers of complexity and looks for meaningful solutions to alleviate it during a customer’s planning and booking process. “We have never been more well positioned to hear from our guests and really act on it,” Filley shared. Putting Families at the Forefront Disney World has a way of creating lifelong memories that are hard to replicate anywhere else. This summer, key initiatives are set to make Disney World vacations even more memorable for young families. Why focus on summer visits? “An interesting fact we heard from them is that this is the time that’s easiest for them to plan,” Filley said of families with young children. Filley shared that Disney World’s summer 50% offer on kids tickets is a new option for families to visit and save. Another fan favorite offer for a free dining plan is returning for the summer months. “We want to have these great offers for our guests because we know it’s a great time for them to come and they’re telling us they’re going to have a wonderful experience when they’re here,” Filley added, noting summer offers the least expensive average ticket prices of the year. At the parks, Kirk said guests can expect added kid zones, fun entertainment, and more character interactions daily, including a Goofy takeover of CommuniCore Hall at EPCOT for an ultimate game party and play space. “We’re being very intentional and really celebrating the family experience,” Armor said. “Guests tell us one of the best-kept secrets of staying at a Disney Resort is all the activities available. We’re creating programming for the resorts so guests can plan both their day at the parks and their day at the resorts and can prioritize what they want to do.”  Armor shared that on day one of testing scheduled appearances at resorts, it was clear that families seeing characters for the first time felt the magic from the moment they arrived. “It’s been transformative.” Each panelist noted how key initiatives to bring more to the experience for families this summer has meant so much for them on a personal level. “I know I speak for all five of us, we are Disney parents who have spent a whole lifetime planning these trips with our own children, and it’s so important that we do right by Disney families,” Armor said. “We’re continuing to ideate and create ways that they can have moments and memories that will keep them coming back to property every time they come back to Walt Disney World.” On a similar note, Kirk told the group there’s a balance with the long-term and near-term experiences. “Most of you here in the room are very familiar with our product, right? But we have to be about all of our guests. Not everyone visits this often.” Kirk shared that roughly one third of domestic visitors have not seen Pandora – The World of Avatar. “Think about that: they haven’t seen Pandora, Toy Story Land, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, TRON / Lightcycle Run, right? So, when they come here, all of those experiences will still be new to them,” he said. “But at the same time, we have to continue to have fresh new experiences for the guests who come more often.” Continuing the Legacy with Buzz and Beyond Revealed at the panel, a fan favorite (and Kirk’s own family favorite) Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is getting a major upgrade this year, including brand-new handheld, more reactive blasters that younger riders will love. Kirk noted that since Walt Disney opened Disneyland in 1955, adding new experiences and refreshing existing favorites is what they’ve always done. “At Walt Disney World, we’re just continuing that legacy.” “This is us going back and saying, ‘You know what? This experience needs some love. It’s the OG,” Michael Hundgen, Portfolio Executive Creative Producer, said. “This is a great update to a classic attraction at Magic Kingdom.” As the largest and most visited theme park in the world, Magic Kingdom is slated to be a centerpiece of the upcoming investment and expansion for the Resort, with the biggest expansion in the park’s history. The new Villains Land coming to Magic Kingdom will feature fan-favorite Disney Villains from popular Walt Disney Animation Studios films and two new attractions. “Decades ago, I had developed an idea for a Villains theme park at Walt Disney World,” Hundgen said of his own high school marketing project that recently surfaced. “To fast forward all these years later and to know we’re building a Villains land at the Magic Kingdom, who would have thought?” Kirk described training and developing the next generation of Disney World leaders and cast members as a point of pride as he looks to the future. “I’m optimistic because I know they’ve got this; they have the passion that we had, and we’re set for decades and decades of this amazing guest service that our guests have all come to expect.” The post Disney World Leaders Share How Guests ‘Live in the Magic’ appeared first on Disney Experiences. 9. With over 150 ways to shop, dine, and play, Disney Springs is home to a vibrant community where small businesses and entrepreneurs thrive. Some of the most inspiring stories come from women who have turned their dreams into a reality in a place fueled by magic and creativity — just like these three trailblazing entrepreneurs. Maneet Chauhan: eet by Maneet Chauhan With a love for authentic flavors and cultural storytelling, Maneet has always shared her cultural heritage through food with a twist. “When I think about what it means to ‘eat,’ it evokes memories and emotions that tie us all together, all around the world,” she explains. Maneet’s journey has been about more than just redefining cuisine; she’s been breaking barriers throughout her career. Growing up she was often the only girl in school who dreamed of becoming a chef, so instead of following a conventional career path she forged her own. Adriana Carrig: Little Words Project For Adriana Carrig, spreading kindness isn’t just a mission — it’s a movement. Inspired by her mother’s words, ‘Querer es Poder,’ meaning ‘If you want it, you can achieve it,’ Adriana launched Little Words Project to inspire self-love and build community through friendship bracelets. “The fact that Little Words Project is at Disney Springs is absolutely insane to me, but also very exciting; it’s such a wonderful thing to have the Disney stamp of approval” she shared. With each bracelet Adriana spreads positivity, one Little Word at a time. “I’ve always said keep going… even when it gets hard, even when you’re stuck in the messy middle when most people would quit, if you keep going you will get to that ultimate destination because you won’t let anything stop you.” What began as a small project has since grown into a celebrated brand, with Disney Springs as her most popular location and an exclusive Disney Parks line that can be found across the Resort. “I love the ‘Home’ bracelet that has the castle on it. I just think it’s the sweetest concept, and for me and so many others, Disney does feel like a home away from home. To see my brand next to that magical castle… it really is just a pinch me moment.” Jenn Clark: Wondermade For Jenn Clark a simple idea turned into something sweet — literally! Just miles from Walt Disney World, Jenn and her husband, Nathan, first began making handcrafted marshmallows in their home kitchen. Now at Disney Springs, they share their delicious desserts with millions of guests every year. “Interacting with people from all over the world has been an amazing opportunity” Jenn shares “and this year is special with our new Marshmallows Across America line.” The collection features 50 unique flavors, each inspired by a different U.S. state — a concept that came from her experience interacting with guests at Disney Springs. “Being a local, small business we’re able to connect with people on a personal level because they get to know who we are and what we’re creating.” It’s not just about sharing her creations but encouraging young entrepreneurs to have a support system, “over the years there’s been women who’ve worked alongside me in this journey and it’s important to have a network of people you can lean on… you have to be willing to work hard but know you can’t do it all on your own.” More than just businesses, these women are building communities that connect us all. 12. A NEW land is coming to Animal Kingdom…but why is it taking SO long? ©Disney At the 2023 D23 Expo and the 2024 D23 Ultimate Fan Event, Disney talked about a new land that would be coming to Animal Kingdom. The new land would be themed to the Tropical Americas, specifically built around a fictional town Pueblo Esperanza. However, don’t make plans to see the new land anytime soon. While Tropical Americas is confirmed to be coming — as Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro put it at the D23 event, “Dirt is moving. I just want to be clear about this: We are doing everything you’ve heard here tonight” — the land isn’t going to be open for at least two more years, with Disney giving a preliminary timeline of 2027. So, why is it going to take so long? Well, for starters, Tropical Americas is not being built on previously empty land (therefore it’s not technically an “expansion” at Animal Kingdom). Instead, it is replacing — and in some cases repurposing — DinoLand U.S.A. In other words, everything already in DinoLand has to close and be removed before work on Tropical Americas can begin. DinoLand, U.S.A. The first phase of DinoLand — including TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures — had their final operating day on January 12th. However, as of now DINOSAUR, The Boneyard, Restaurantosaurus, Dino-Bite Snacks, and Trilo-Bites will all remain open, with Disney intimating that these offerings won’t be “going extinct” until the end of 2025. Dinosaur Once all of DinoLand is closed, Disney will need to transform the area, as the new land is described as according to Disney, the space will be “lush and sprawling, featuring a large fountain in the center where the villagers like to gather and tell stories. Additionally, a woodcarver has created a giant working carousel featuring his favorite animals from Disney stories.” Pueblo Esperanza Carousel Concept Art ©Disney Furthermore, the area will feature massive attractions based on Encanto and the Indiana Jones franchise. The former will be a ride-through attraction featuring the Madrigal family. According to Disney, “inside the Casita, Antonio has just received his special gift — the ability to communicate with animals — and his room has transformed into a rainforest. It’s time to go explore alongside him, and you never know what member of the family you might bump into…” A new attraction themed after the Walt Disney Animation Studios film “Encanto” follows Antonio the day after he received his magical gift – the ability to communicate with animals and is situated in the new Tropical Americas land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The Indiana Jones attraction is assumed to be reusing the DINOSAUR infrastructure — an interesting full-circle moment, as DINOSAUR itself is a reskin of Disneyland’s original Indiana Jones Adventure. According to Disney, “In this new venture, the man with the hat has recently discovered a perfectly preserved Maya temple, and that can only mean one thing: it’s time to explore it. He’s heard rumors about a mythical creature deep within the temple — and he’s got to see it for himself. So, he brings us along on the adventure… but will there be snakes? We’ll just have to wait and see.” ©Disney Disney has confirmed that it will have a different storyline than the Disneyland Indiana Jones Adventure ride, but either way, with work on the ride not starting until DINOSAUR closes, Disney is likely going to need to reach deep into 2027 to get the land ready for opening. The timetable for Tropical Americas fits into Disney World’s general approach to construction timelines, which — to the consternation of some — can often be measured in years. It also fits with the rest of Disney World’s upcoming projects – – Villains Land and Cars in Frontierland, at the Magic Kingdom, and Monsters, Inc. and the rethemed Muppets Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios. @Disney Tropical Americas is coming to Animal Kingdom, but it’s still going to be a while. Check out Amorette’s Patisserie Disney Springs at Disney World has so many good spots for tasty treats. We like to try all the food we can, so we can let you know what’s worth it and what to avoid. We recently went to Amorette’s Patisserie, and we wanted to share our thoughts with you. Amorette’s Patisserie is celebrating Womans History Month with the Minnie Mouse Petit Cake! This cake is a vanilla chiffon cake with green tea-lemon syrup and berry mousse. This was a tasty cake, but we don’t think we would go out of our way for it again. Especially for its price of $22. Minnie Mouse Cake To start, it was a gorgeous-looking cake! We were quite impressed with how many layers were inside of it. The cake’s main flavors were lemon and raspberry with some green tea. The cake and fondant definitely had a vanilla flavor. The vanilla chiffon cake was light and fluffy, and you could really taste the lemon and raspberry in the syrup. We didn’t get much green tea flavor, but we feel like that’s a hard flavor to get — considering it would have to stand out amongst the raspberry and lemon. Look at this pretty cake There was a berry mousse layer between the cake — although we’re not sure we would really call it a mousse, it was more of a light jam consistency. Don’t get us wrong, it was tasty with the vanilla cake, but it just wasn’t very “moussey”. So pretty Our main complaint about this cake was the fondant. It was chewy and took away from the rest of the cake in our opinion. However, it did have a good thickness and wasn’t overly gummy (that’s it though). Against the fluffy, lightness of the cake, the fondant sticks out in the wrong way. It makes the cake look finished, but we ended up eating around it to really enjoy the cake. Minnie Mouse cake We don’t hate this cake, but we probably wouldn’t get it again. Especially for it’s price of $22, which feels very steep. 15. One of our favorite Disney stars and Broadway legends just went to Disney World! Magic Kingdom Fireworks Jordan Fisher went to Disney World with his wife, Ellie, and their son, Riley. OMG, you have to see these adorable pictures. If you don’t know who Jordan Fisher is, you definitely know his voice! Fisher is one of the singers in the theme song for Happily Ever After. You know, one of the best nighttime spectacular fireworks songs ever. @jordanfisher It looks like he had a great time with his family in Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios. @jordanfisher We got to see pictures of the family at The Crystal Palace, having fun with Pooh, Piglet, and Tigger… @jordanfisher …and on the Jungle Cruise. We have to know, do you think Jordan Fisher is an expert at dad jokes? @jordanfisher To answer the question we know you’re dying to ask, yes, the Fisher family did watch Happily Ever After at Magic Kingdom. I think we can all agree that he deserves a special VIP, permanent fireworks viewing spot. Actually, if we wanted to watch from inside the castle, we think he should be allowed to do that, too. @jordanfisher We love seeing our favorite celebrities in the parks and having normal experiences just like us! 16. One of the best parts of EPCOT is the four festivals that rotate throughout the year. From the Festival of the Arts to Flower and Garden to Food and Wine and the Festival of the Holidays, EPCOT almost always has a festival happening. EPCOT We love these festivals, but there are three things EPCOT festivals need to bring them to the next level. 1. More tables With all the food and drinks you want to try, you’ll want to sit down for a moment to fully enjoy your food. Unfortunately, there are not many tables and chairs to relax in. Some even turn to eating on top of trash cans to have some sort of table! Standing tables We love the new CommuniCore Hall, which has indoor tables and chairs to sit and cool down with our food, but we really wish there were more options around the World Showcase. CommuniCore Hall 2. Better menus in the Italy and Morocco Pavilions Yikes. Italy and Morocco are always at the bottom of our Best of the Fest lists, and honestly, that’s sad! We love their permanent restaurants like Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria and Spice Road Table, but festival booths have not been a favorite. 2024 Italy Booth at the Food and Wine Festival We would love for these booths to get all-new menus with some foods that we’re excited to eat! Instead of bringing back the same food every year (like Tangierine Cafe) or not updating the quality of the food (hello, Italy), a whole overhaul would be awesome for these booths. Tangierine Cafe menu 3. A Food Pass All the way over at Disneyland, there are festivals including the Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival, which offers this amazing Sip and Savor Pass. For around $63, you can purchase a lanyard with eight redeemable coupons for select food and beverage offerings (or grab four coupons for $32). It doesn’t include alcohol or souvenir items, but the ability to go from booth to booth without pulling out our wallets is awesome! Sip and Savor Pass Since EPCOT festivals are usually a lot bigger, they could offer bigger passes or more tiers with a different number of redeemable coupons. Whether you’re going to the festival one day or multiple throughout the season, this convenience would make our EPCOT trips so much easier. 2024 Lunar New Year Sip and Savor Pass If we were in charge of EPCOT festivals, these are the changes we would make right away! At Disney Food Blog, we go to every festival to bring you the best details, so make sure you’re following us for the best festival experiences. 17. There are plenty of places to grab a quick snack in Disney World, and it’s no secret we have some of our favorites. Anaheim Produce In Disney’s Hollywood Studios, though, great snacks are a little harder to come by, but in a pinch, we’ll make a meal out of Totchos and we’ll never turn down a Carrot Cake Cookie. However, there’s a little sorta’ hidden snack spot in Hollywood Studios you may not know about: Anaheim Produce. So we stopped by to grab some snacks and try them out. And now, we’re here with an honest review (maybe even a little TOO honest). Anaheim Produce is pretty much a basic snack stand where you can grab drinks and snacks. The menu is pretty basic. However, this is one of many places where you can get a Mickey-shaped Pretzel served with Plastic Cheese for $7.99. Now, if you’ve had a Mickey pretzel, you’ll know these are a little denser than other pretzels and they’re nice and salty. It’s not super fresh (it’s been sitting in a warming box all day), but it’s good with that plastic cheese. However, we wouldn’t go out of our way to get a Mickey pretzel here as they are available ALL over the park. Mickey Pretzel Next up, we have to talk about the sorry state of churros in Disney World. However, we still got the Churro for $6.99 here, and yep, we were disappointed. If you’ve been to Disneyland, you might expect those super fresh churros that practically melt in your mouth. This is not that. It’s a stale churro that tastes like it’s been sitting outside forever with hardly any doughiness. They’re tough and the only good thing about them is the cinnamon sugar coating. Even the chocolate sauce we got with it was VERY thin and runny. This is why we never order churros from quick service spots in Disney World. Ever. Sad churro But we’re going to sing the praises of the boozy drink we discovered here. It’s Frozen Coca-Cola with Jack Daniel’s Whiskey for $15.50 and it is a MUST if you like the taste of Jack and Coke. It’s a refreshing take on that classic drink and you definitely get the flavor of the Coke and Jack Daniels. Be sure to give it a good mix, though, before you start drinking it because the alcohol ends up on the bottom. It does melt fast, but it’s still good melted. This is the perfect hot drink for a cold day. Refreshing! Well, one out of three ain’t bad, we guess. But this is really a spot you only stop at if you’re standing in front of it and need a drink and a quick snack. Stay tuned to DFB for more. WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! 18. A Disneyland show has permanently closed! ©Disney Just months before the resort is set to kick off festivities celebrating its 70th anniversary, an attraction at the Anaheim resort has surprisingly shuttered forever. The Disney Junior Dance Party, a “high-energy dance party show, filled with favorite Disney Junior Characters and music!”, has run in California Adventure’s Hollywood Land for the last several years. However, the show’s run has ended with no announcement or fanfare. The Disney Junior Dance Party has played its last show. As of March 24th, 2025, it will no longer run at Disney California Adventure. The show’s information has been removed from Disney’s website, and we confirmed with Disney that the show’s run had ended and were told to “continue to check the website for any more updates for a new show.” @Disney The Disney Junior Dance Party featured a DJ playing songs you know from Disney Junior shows, and appearances from Sofia the First, Doc McStuffins, Timon, Kion and his animal pals from The Lion Guard “live via satellite from the Pride Lands”, and the stars of Mickey and the Roadster Racers— Mickey and Minnie Mouse. ©Disney California Adventure’s Disney Junior Dance Party has unexpectedly closed at the Disneyland Resort to make way for a new show. 19. One of our favorite spots to get a sweet treat in EPCOT is tucked back in the France Pavilion over in World Showcase. L’Artisan Des Glaces L’Artisan Des Glaces is a great place to grab some ice cream or sorbet on a warm day, but you can also grab macarons and their iconic Croque Glacés as well. Now that spring is upon us, there are some returning seasonal flavors that just arrived on the menu, and you know we had to check them out! There are several flavors available at L’Artisan Des Glaces, which we love because it means there’s something for almost everyone! This season, there are two special flavors you can try — Yogurt & Blueberry and Pina Colada. We got single scoops of the two flavors which cost $7.95 each. Time for some ice cream! The Pina Colada, which is a sorbet, is nice and smooth, but it’s more tart than it is sweet, so you’ll want to prepare yourself for that. You’ll really have to enjoy sour things because it certainly is more zingy and tangy than some people may be expecting. We could see where it might have some people puckering their faces a little bit, especially if they go in unaware. Pina Colada Now the Yogurt & Blueberry Ice Cream is exactly what it sounds like, and we honestly think it’s like a slap in the face with how on point it is with that flavor! It tastes just like Greek Yogurt, that plain yogurt taste, and then those blueberries are what really bring out that flavor. We love that they use REAL blueberries instead of just blueberry syrup or jam! Yogurt & Blueberry Now, this does mean that there were some grittier bits to the ice cream since it was real fruit, so keep that in mind if you’re sensitive to textures. We think this is a great choice for those who love yogurt and blueberries because again, this flavor is spot on. We really don’t think there’s any sort of fault in either of these flavors — both are very good if you know that their flavor profiles are something you’d enjoy! Choosing one might be the hardest decision you make in the France pavilion right now, but luckily, you can get a double scoop for $9.95 and try both! More Recent Reviews! 20. What’s Disney up to on their private island? Disney’s Private Island Castaway Cay Castaway Cay, which has been part of Disney Cruise Line itineraries since the line’s inception, was revolutionary for the time. It was the first private island in the industry to feature direct docking, which allowed guests to disembark without being tendered to land. With its beaches, including the adult-only Serenity Bay, and activities like bicycle rentals, personal watercraft rentals, massages overlooking the ocean, snorkeling, parasailing, volleyball, and basketball, the island has long been a favorite of Disney Cruise line passengers. Now, it looks like Disney may be cooking up something new. Recently reader @danielstaten shared some photos of construction on Castaway Cay with us. @danielstaten The photos indicate a slew of new cabanas being added to the island. @danielstaten They also lend some credence to the rumor of a potential new adult-only dining pavilion expansion, perhaps to Serenity Bay. However, there’s no confirmation of anything at this time. @danielstaten Additional construction of Castaway Cay is somewhat unsurprising. The island, which was known as Gorda Cay until Disney purchased a 99-year lease from the Bahamian government, is still largely undeveloped. Approximately 55 of the island’s 1,000 acres are developed, and given the growing popularity of the Disney Cruise Line and in turn the expansion of the fleet, it stands to reason that the island will be further developed in the coming years. ©Disney Construction is underway on Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. 21. Disney World is the Most Magical Place on Earth! Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort And one of the best ways to stay even closer to the magic is to stay at one of the many Disney World Resort hotels! As a guest of a Disney World hotel, you can take advantage of tons of perks like advance Lighting Lane reservations, a free water park visit on your check-in day, Early Theme Park Entry, and free transportation! Although all of this is so nice, sometimes weird things go down at Disney World hotels. We asked you, our amazing readers, to share stories of nightmarish things you have witnessed at Disney World hotels, and let’s just say we hope we never have to see what some of you all saw! Resort lobby at Coronado Springs’ Gran Destino Tower Over at All-Star Sports, a reader shared that they found a cockroach in their bathroom and a horrible sewer smell by the pool. The good news is that they had a great experience at All-Star Movies and Music and would stay at an All-Star Resort again! All-Star Sports Another reader shared a crazy experience they had while staying at the All-Stars as well. They said that the room was kept up poorly, curtains were falling off, and only a few electrical outlets worked. But the story gets even worse; their blow dryer caught on fire and ended up burning a hole through the wall. Disney sent someone to replace the outlet, but they were not able to move rooms. Unlike the reader above, this reader doubts they will ever stay at an All-Star Resort again. All-Star Resorts One reader shared that two years ago when they arrived at their hotel room after checking in, they noticed that blood was smeared on the wall. Disney did end up moving their room, but they were still shocked that it was not cleaned prior to them checking in. Over at Animal Kingdom Lodge, a reader’s daughter got into bed for the night and realized that her bed was wet. Grossed out, they found out it was urine and that the housekeeper only changed the top sheet and not the mattress pad. It took over an hour for new sheets to be delivered and changed. Savanna View Room at Animal Kingdom Lodge Although this reader did not share which resort they were staying at, their hotel room did not have any running water, and it took someone over an hour to fix the problem. A similar plumbing issue happened at Old Key West about 15 years ago, as a reader told us that their toilet got backed up around 6 PM. They were told no one could come and fix it until the morning. Old Key West Resort | Deluxe Studio Room If you did not know, Old Key West, the original Disney Vacation Club resort, sits on a golf course. A reader told us that every morning during their “vacation” at Old Key West, mowers started to run loudly between 5:30 and 6 AM, which obviously would wake them up each morning. They called to see if they could move to the side of the resort without the course, but they were told no. Lesson learned: if you are a light sleeper, avoid staying at a resort with a golf course. Balcony at Old Key West On their very first trip to Disney World in 2012, this reader’s hotel had issues locating their luggage. When they returned to their resort from the parks at 10 PM, two pieces of luggage still could not be found. It was not until midnight when all of their luggage finally arrived. Luggage The Grand Floridian is known as one of Disney World’s nicest resorts, as it is a Deluxe Resort that overlooks the Magic Kingdom. Unfortunately, a reader shared that when they stayed at the Grand Floridian, they experienced black sludge bubbling from the faucets and shower. Bathroom at the DVC Villas at the Grand Floridian Over at the Cars section of Art of Animation, a reader had to deal with cockroaches coming out of the kitchenette area of their room at nighttime. Art of Animation PHEW! That is a lot of nasty stories! But probably the scariest of them all was shared by a reader who said that the most nightmarish thing that they ALWAYS experience at Disney World is the car service pulling up to take them back to the airport at the end of their trip. It sends shivers down our spines! There is nothing worse than the Disney blues! Orlando International Airport Things happen at Disney World hotels, just like they do at any hotel. 22. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: not all Disney World restaurants are created equally. Some are worth singing about from the rooftops, while others are more of a one-and-done. Planet Hollywood This brings us to Planet Hollywood at Disney Springs — a restaurant we find generally so upsetting, that even the Terminator himself couldn’t save it (okay, that might be dramatic — but you get it). While there are some redeemable dishes on the menu at this spot, the most recent meal we tried certainly wasn’t one of them. Located in Downtown Disney’s West Side, Planet Hollywood is a three-tiered observatory full of dining. And, while it’s certainly not our favorite restaurant at Disney Springs, there is a large menu with a wide variety of options that will likely please even the pickiest of eaters. We recently stopped by and grabbed the Bird is the Word chicken sandwich for $18.99 and are bringing you our thoughts! Planet Hollywood Menu This sandwich is made with a crispy fried all-natural chicken breast, buttermilk ranch dressing, pickles, cheddar, slaw & honey hot sauce on a brioche bun served with seasoned fries. This sounds like a pretty classic — and delicious — chicken sandwich, so what could go wrong? Bird is the Word sandwich This was… not good. The chicken was not seasoned and the sandwich itself lacked flavor overall. Not only that, but the selling point for us, which was the hot honey sauce, was not even hot honey. It tasted and looked and smelled exactly like buffalo sauce (OUTRAGEOUS). Very disappointing. We did like the one pickle spear the sandwich was served with, but for $18.99, we don’t think this sandwich is worth getting again. Not our favorite We’ve had better chicken sandwiches at Disney World — and even at Disney Springs! If you’re after a really delicious chicken sandwich, you’ll want to head to Chicken Guy! instead. We also really enjoy the fried chicken sandwiches from Connections Eatery at EPCOT. This just goes to show that there are plenty of good eats in Disney World — as long as you know where to look! 23. Disney’s iconic Napa Rose restaurant, which is located at the Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and serves “refined California cuisine,” is set to get a makeover! Napa Rose at the Grand Californian Hotel Disney dropped a TON of announcements about some upcoming changes at its hotels, and we’re expecting some fun new dining options along with a whole new look to this space. An official closing date for this renovation has not yet been revealed, but we think we may have spotted a hint on the Disneyland calendar! Soon, Napa Rose will temporarily close while Disney updates the restaurant — we just don’t officially know when yet. Disney revealed that Napa Rose will be remodeled with a new interior and patio, and based on what we recently spotted on the Disneyland website, it could be closing as soon as April 5th! ©Disney We spotted this update on the calendar listing for Napa Rose, which appears to show no availability beginning on April 5th, and continuing as far as the calendar goes out, which is 60 days. Disney has still not made an official announcement about when exactly Napa Rose will close, but this might be a pretty safe bet. Of course, we’ll let you know once things have been confirmed by Disney. ©Disney Disney previously explained that the restaurant “will have a rustic elegance and will be a tapestry of California’s storied history of wine and winemaking, using natural textures such as reclaimed French oak flooring and columns (a type of wood used to make wine barrels), hand-pinged artisan metals, leathers, deep colors of cabernet, and an eye-catching chandelier inspired by California’s Mission grapevines.” Napa Rose Dining Room Imagineers will expand the counters where guests can watch the action at the restaurant’s exhibition kitchen. Additionally, the patio will be updated to add more seating, and two new fireplaces will be installed. That way, you can dine outside even when it’s a little chilly out! How cute! The restaurant is expected to reopen in fall 2025. Look out for a new menu, too! Luckily, Disney confirmed Napa Rose will still serve fan favorites like the Smiling Tiger Salad and will still offer an impressive wine collection of more than 1,500 labels. Smiling Tiger Salad Disney also noted, “To make way for these enhancements, there will be temporary updates to dining offerings at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.” In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. Don’t end up paying high prices in the small grocery section at your Disney World resort gift shop; instead, utilize Kroger’s Grocery Delivery! Kroger has tons of experience in delivery to Disney World resorts, so you can trust that your groceries will be delivered safely! Although we love this service, there is one problem that you may run into on the last day of your trip. Ordering groceries through Kroger Grocery Delivery is super convenient, especially if you don’t have your own car to shop off-property. We especially like ordering easy, on-the-go breakfast foods for early morning rope drop days. We like to have snacks for late-night cravings and even order water bottles and soda to have in our room. Groceries Step-by-Step Guide to Ordering Kroger Grocery Delivery to Disney World You can get all of this and more conveniently delivered right to your resort, and you can watch your delivery process through the Kroger app. Don’t worry if you can’t be there right as your groceries are delivered. They can be held at your hotel’s front desk or Bell Services desk for a small additional fee. Kroger Delivery Sounds easy enough, right? Well, while you are enjoying your Disney World vacation, you may end up wanting to eat more in the parks and try all the delicious snacks around the property. Don’t worry; we totally get it; we love Disney food here at the Disney Food Blog! The problem is that toward the end of your trip, you may notice you have a ton of groceries to get through, which is totally normal! This happens all the time! Kroger Delivery Rather than worry about what to do with all your leftover groceries as the clock ticks to 11 AM on your checkout day, plan ahead before you order your groceries. Think about all your dining reservations, your park days, and how much time you will spend away from your room. Kroger Delivery Those staying at a Disney Vacation Club Villa may get more use out of their groceries as some rooms have a full kitchen. Just make a game plan of what will work best for you and your party, and think about a realistic amount of groceries that you will go through beforehand to avoid leftovers on your checkout day. Kitchen at Copper Creek Kroger Delivery is a great tool and super helpful while you are on vacation, so the next time you visit Disney World, make sure to download the Kroger app before you arrive and make a game plan for what groceries you need to order.
