If you ask my mother what I do for a living, she would say, “You make television.” And when you boil it down, she’s right! I’m lucky enough to work with some incredible partners at ESPN, Disney Channel, Freeform and ABC to bring their programming to Disney Parks. One of the highlights of my 2016 was working with the team at ABC on their hit show, “black-ish.” And what does “black-ish” do after they’ve been nominated for three Emmys? Go to Disney World of course! If you were visiting Walt Disney World Resort during the week of Aug. 22 you may have caught a glimpse of the cast around the parks taping their season premiere. They taped at Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park over four days. In between takes, managing the heat and drinking lots of water, the cast posed for photos with guests, met some of their favorite Disney and Pixar pals, and even got to check out a few things. If you follow the cast on social media, you saw that Marsai Martin (Diane) live-streamed the Festival of the Lion King show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom; Miles Brown (Jack) visited Cirque du Soleil’s “La Nouba” at Disney Springs and Marcus Scribner (Andre Jr.) had an out of this world dinner at Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Creating a half hour show is hard work and takes a village and it is a great feeling to be a part it. Check out the behind scenes video below to see a sneak peek of the taping. Don’t forget to watch the “black-ish” season premiere Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 9:30 p.m. ET on ABC. Tune in and follow along with the social conversation using the hashtag: #blackish.
