  1. To help you get ready for the holidays, we’ve developed a series of recipes featuring favorite holiday sweets from Disney Parks from coast to coast. To kick off the season, I’m sharing the coveted Gingerbread Cookie recipe from the Bakery at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. The Grand has long been a favorite place to visit during the holiday season. The gingerbread house in the lobby of the resort has been a Walt Disney World holiday mainstay for the past 18 years, with the aroma of freshly baked gingerbread calling to visitors. Bring home a taste of a holiday tradition by making this recipe for your loved ones. View the full article

  6. This time of year, many of us are planning our outfits for special holiday gatherings – and this was the inspiration artist Ashley Taylor had when designing today’s Disney Doodle of Cinderella. “I love the iconic scene where Cinderella’s dress transforms into a ball gown,” Ashley said. “I thought it would be sweet to have the Fairy Godmother add a little more sparkle to Cinderella’s dress for the holidays.” Ashley has depicted the two of them here, in front of Cinderella Castle, putting the last few touches on her white gown, which she wears in the “Once Upon a Christmastime” parade at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. 9. I love visiting during Holidays at the Disneyland Resort and being immersed in the festive holiday spirit. This year, guests have been celebrating the season with a variety of special happenings including Festival of Holidays at Disney California Adventure park, or by experiencing fun, holiday-themed attractions like Haunted Mansion Holiday in Disneyland park. If you will be visiting this month, here is a look at some commemorative merchandise created especially for Disneyland Resort. At the Festival of Holidays, guests can celebrate holiday festivities inspired by cultural traditions at Disney California Adventure park now through January 8, 2017. Look for short- and long-sleeved apparel along with a logo hat. There is also a t-shirt for this event that is only available to Disneyland Resort Annual Passholders. To celebrate Disney ¡Viva Navidad! in Paradise Pier at Disney California Adventure park, we have released two limited edition pins. The hinged-logo pin has an edition size of 3,000, while the jumbo-sized pin with José Carioca has an edition size of 500. Haunted Mansion Holiday in New Orleans Square is one of my favorite things to see during the holidays at Disneyland park. This year, guests will find several commemorative pins including a spinner pin that has an edition size of 3,000. On December 8, we will release a limited edition pin and ornament set for Disneyland Resort Annual Passholders featuring Jack Skellington and Zero (edition size 500). We are also releasing a new limited edition pin collection on December 8 that salutes classic Disneyland park attractions. Titled “Sounds of the Season,” each pin in this four-pin collection will have an edition size of 3,000. Finally, guests sailing on the world-famous Jingle Cruise this holiday season at Disneyland park will find a limited edition logo pin (edition size 3,000). 17. We are thrilled to see audiences are enjoying Moana. The film debuted in theaters with the second-largest five-day Thanksgiving opening of all-time! In the film, Moana encounters enormous challenges, impossible odds, a demigod named Maui… and sea turtles! Like Moana, sea turtles face many challenges. The Disney Conservation Fund and Disney’s Animals, Science, and Environment team are working with the University of Florida to help address these challenges and reverse the decline of sea turtles. Did you know that Florida is an extra-special place for sea turtles? Our sandy beaches offer nesting areas for more of these majestic animals than anywhere else in North America. At Disney’s Vero Beach Resort in Florida, guests can join a Disney team of sea turtle conservation specialists who survey the beach during the nesting and hatching season, May through October. Throughout this year’s season, specialists at the resort were on the beach each morning to carefully mark nests for protection. And the payoff? … more than 100,000 hatchling sea turtles entering the sea! Many of these tiny turtles set off on their grand journey buoyed by cheers from our guests. What a thrill! Guests also took part in counting the eggshells that hatchlings left behind in nests. These counts revealed that hatching success was high this year. It was good luck that Hurricane Matthew passed after most of our nests had already hatched. Love sea turtles? Come join us! Guests at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort learn how sea turtles live, what threatens them and what we can all do to help them survive. Our specialists meet guests on the beach each sunrise of the season, and kids get to take part in Turtle Tracks, a program that helps kids explore the amazing world of sea turtles. Perhaps the most awe-inspiring sea turtle experience our guests have at the resort takes place on summer nights in June and July. On these Sea Turtle Night Walks, guests have the opportunity to explore the beach at night with a sea turtle specialist and – if they are lucky! – experience an up-close encounter with a 300-pound mother turtle as she lays her eggs in the sand. The guided experiences spark curiosity, wonder and emotion in our guests, and most of our guests report a renewed interest in conservation actions that help these amazing animals. To learn more about our findings this summer, check out the infographic below on the awesome sea turtles of Disney’s Vero Beach Resort. For more information on sea turtles and how Disney is helping this species in the wild, visit www.DisneyAnimals.com. Mahalo! View the full article

In celebration of the upcoming film release, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, 400 Disney Parks Blog readers gathered at Epcot this week to watch as the park’s Spaceship Earth attraction was temporarily transformed into the Death Star. The after-hours event was full of surprises as well, as attendees heard about the latest Star Wars entertainment offerings from Entertainment’s Michael Roddy and got the first look at new merchandise inspired by Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, with Merchandise’s Steven Miller. The biggest surprise was an appearance by actor Mads Mikkelsen who plays Galen Erso in the film. Our meet-up attendees also celebrated by wearing their best Star Wars-inspired outfits. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story revolves around a rogue band of resistance fighters who unite for a daring mission to steal the Death Star plans and bring new hope to the galaxy. Being a long-time Star Wars fan, I’m counting down the hours until the film is released in theaters on December 16, 2016! Here is a look at several products guests will find this month at Disney Parks. You may recall we released Rogue One merchandise at the end of September 2016. Many of these items, such as apparel, pins, toys, home décor and more, are available today in select merchandise locations at Disney Parks. In early December, we will release several new character designs to the D-Tech on Demand stations at Disney Parks. At these stations, guests can create and personalize phone cases for select mobile phone devices. On December 16, we will release several new products to celebrate the film’s opening day. Guests will find a limited release Vinylmation mystery set. There are 11 known characters in this series and one mystery chaser figure. You can either purchase individual mystery boxes containing one randomly selected figure each, or you can purchase an entire tray. A new limited edition retail MagicBand 2 inspired by Director Krennic will also be released on opening day. This retail MagicBand will have an edition size of 2,000 and will be packaged in a decorative box. Guests should also look for two jumbo-sized pins in select merchandise locations. The hinged Death Star pin (top image) will have an edition size of 3,000, while the Rogue One character pin (bottom image) will have an edition size of 1,000. Finally, guests can personalize four new nametags by having their names written in Aurebesh, one of the alphabets used in the Star Wars universe, starting December 16. Two nametags – Darth Vader and Imperial logo – are limited release items created for Rogue One. We also made two nametags exclusive to Annual Passholders (a valid Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World Resort Passholder ID or Premiere Pass and a photo ID is required to purchase). Look for these nametags at Tomorrowlanding in Disneyland park and Gone Hollywood in Disney California Adventure park in California, or at Star Wars Launch Bay in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Merchant of Venus in Magic Kingdom Park in Florida.
