Pixar Play Zone at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is a dream-come-true for kids. This all-things-Pixar kids club has only been open three months but it is already on the list of must do’s for Disney’s littlest guests. It’s a Pixar lover’s delight with toys galore, tasty treats, themed crafts and games. According to insiders, these three things top the charts for wee ones: The dance party with Mr. and Mrs. Incredible is epic. Youngsters love the chance to rock out with their fave characters in an cozy environment. Kids can earn a sheriff’s badge and sing along with loveable cowboy Woody and Jessie the yodeling cowgirl during Woody’s Roundup. Cars fans won’t want to miss the Radiator Springs Racetrack where they can build a racecar and compete in a mini Piston Cup Derby race. These can’t-miss experiences will have your little one begging to go — allowing you the chance to have a relaxing date night. This nightly getaway is offered to kids ages 4-12, and is open from 5-10:30 p.m. Programming will run from 6-10:15 p.m. for a fee of $65 per child (plus tax). Children must be fully toilet-trained. Let’s say you’re in Disney Springs and you really want to try some of the wine and cuisine at Wine Bar George. Learn About: The Basket at Wine Bar George Downtown Disney Disney World Restaurants But you’ve only got a limited amount of time to spend in Disney Springs. That’s where The Basket at Wine Bar George comes in! The Basket offers a Quick Service component to Wine Bar George — the new wine bar in Disney Springs headed by none other than Master Sommelier George Miliotes. This spot boasts everything you could want to create a picnic “basket” inspired by a Master Sommelier… including wines on tap served by carafe or by the glass! Let’s find out what’s in The Basket! Atmosphere The atmosphere is… well, quite simple! The Basket The Basket is essentially a Counter Service window, tucked right underneath the upstairs outdoor terrace seating of Wine Bar George. Upper Terrace at Wine Bar George with The Basket below Just like an actual picnic basket, everything is presented with the intention to go and enjoy wherever you’d like, be it at one of the outdoor tables dotting Disney Springs or back in your Resort perhaps to enjoy on your balcony. Food on display in the window Foods are displayed behind a window front-and-center, so let’s take a closer peek! Eats The headliners on the menu are the Picnic Baskets made for two or four guests. The Basket for two ($80) includes olives and hummus, a cheese and charcuterie box, two chocolate chip cookies, a baguette, and a carafe of selected wine. The Basket also includes two Govino glasses and a carafe! Picnic Baskets sign The Basket for four has similar components, but with a choice of two cheese and charcuterie boxes, one sandwich, four chocolate chip cookies, a baguette and carafe. And, of course, the Govino glasses and carafe. Of course, if you’d rather create your own picnic, you can do so starting with a selection of European-style sandwiches. Options include Goat Cheese, Fig, Arugula, and Ficelle. Goat Cheese and Fig Sandwich Also available are Ham and Gruyere on Ciabatta, and Prosciutto, Brie, and Olive Salad on a Baguette. Ham and Gruyere Sandwich Prosciutto and Brie Sandwich Bites and Boxes feature Olives and Hummus and Calabrese, Brie, Honey, and Crackers. Calabrese, Brie, and Honey Box Chorizo, Manchego Cheese, Almonds, and Crackers and Sopressata, Cheddar, Fig, and Crackers are the other two choices. Chorizo, Manchego, and Almonds Box Sopressata, Cheddar, and Fig Box Crispy Mac & Cheese Bites are also available at The Basket! These were one of my very favorite things at Wine Bar George, so having such easy access to them will provide a huge temptation the next time I’m in Disney Springs. Crispy Mac and Cheese Bites at Wine Bar George Cookies, of course, are the perfect picnic dessert, and your choices are chocolate chip or Rose All Day. And you can get FROSE ALL DAY, if you’d like, too! Frose Something really neat, I think, about the menu is that it has an evident sense of fun with items like Frose and the Rose All Day Cookie, further emphasizing that Wine Bar George is a spot that’s welcoming to all guests — you needn’t be a wine sommelier yourself to enjoy the spot, and wine novices or those wishing to learn more are very much welcome. Speaking of wine… Wines on Tap feature a range of to-go glasses from $9 – $15 (or $40 to $64 by the carafe). Selections include Adraga (Portugal), Sabine (France), and Vezzi (Italy) for $9, MacRostie Chardonnay (California) for $14, and Bonny Dune (California), Argyle (Oregon), and Halter Ranch (California) for $15. The Basket Menu Beer and Cider round out the drink selections. Bottled Beverages Bottled Beverages Overall The Basket is such a fun option! It manages to combine a splurge on specialty items with a laid-back to-go feel, and seems like it could provide a really fun and memorable night in back at the Resort, or just a chance to enjoy some of the higher-end flavors of Disney Springs even if your shopping plans don’t allow much in the way of taking time to dine indoors. Tonight’s “After Dark” image was snapped at Tokyo Disneyland, which is in the middle of celebrating “Tokyo Disney Resort 35th ‘Happiest Celebration!” The celebration includes the new “Dreaming Up!” parade, enhancements at “it’s a small world,” limited-time food and beverage and more. Confusing title? Yeah…lil bit. Those of you with a sharp eye may have noticed that the Mickey Check nutrition program has a new name. You will now find the Disney Check instead of the Mickey Check on kids’ menus and menu boards in Disney World and Disneyland. The emblem appears to be remaining the same with the green check mark, yellow Mickey, and purple border. The Disney Check program works to develop kids’ meals that meet Disney Nutrition Guidelines and make them easily identifiable on kids’ menus. The Mickey Check emblem started appearing on menus in 2013 as part of a larger nutrition program launched in 2006 by Disney with the goal of providing nutritious food choices for kids. Kids Menu & Desserts Menu at Disneyland’s Tomorrowland Terrace Each Disney Check meal aims to deliver three or more nutritious food groups, including vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein. They also use recipes and ingredients that incorporate less sodium, sugar, and saturated and trans fats. So, you’ll still find nutritious meals for your kiddos, like the Mickey Meatloaf at Be Our Guest Restaurant, it’s just that they’ll be under the Disney Check name instead. Disney California Adventure Park Drive on down to Radiator Springs to Flo’s V8 Cafe to grab one of Flo’s Classic Shakes available in vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry with “Road Gravel” cookies and cream crumble topping. There’s also the Supercharged Creamy Orange Shake available for the limited-time Pixar Fest. What’s even better? You can even get any of these shakes in a cool souvenir mug! If you’re over at Pixar Pier, you have to stop by Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats, where you can get non-dairy “It’s Lemon!” soft-serve in a cone! We have always thought of EPCOT’s Restaurant Marrakesh as one of Disney World’s most interesting restaurants. It has taken great pains to make authentic Moroccan food appealing to guests with any palate. They are continuing in this tradition by adding some unique Moroccan specialties to their menu. Marrakesh Sign and Menu Book Their first introduction is Pan-Seared Lamb Loin Medallions and Hummus Rosemary Pancakes. This dish comes with zucchini, olives, and toasted garlic au jus. In our “Disney Doodle” series, different Disney artists take turns imagining what different Disney characters would do or see first if they had the chance to visit a Disney park. In today’s Doodle, artist Ashley Taylor imagines what the Blue Fairy from “Pinocchio” would do if she could visit Magic Kingdom Park. In the film, the Blue Fairy makes Pinocchio’s wish of becoming a real boy come true, after he proves himself worthy, of course! So naturally, she’d seek out an attraction where she could meet lots of little ones and make dreams come true. “The Blue Fairy loves helping dreams come true,” Ashley said. “It’s easy to imagine her riding ‘it’s a small world’ and trying to grant as many wishes as possible!” View the full article

Lots and LOTS of changes are taking place at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort! Though the current construction of a tower — which will bring 500 additional guest rooms and rooftop dining to the Resort — will deliver the biggest transformation, there are other subtle and not-so-subtle changes taking place, too. Coronado Springs Resort Tower Construction One of those not-so-subtle changes is the addition of an on-the-water lounge, which guests will be able to visit by way of a series of bridges from various areas of the Resort. And now, this upcoming bar and grill has a name: Villa del Lago! Villa del Lago Concept Art ©Disney Villa del Lago will serve “cold drinks and light fare” in what appears will be a uniquely lovely setting. Look for this spot to seat 60 guests, while designated group areas will be able to seat 90 more. It will open alongside the 15-story tower in 2019! Unicorns are everywhere at the Disney Parks these days, and there’s no better place to find them than atop a cupcake! Most recently we visited this sparkly beauty from the BoardWalk Bakery! Unicorn Cupcake at Boardwalk Bakery And before that we found them at Gasparilla Island Grill, where the unicorn trend met the rose gold trend in full Disney food trend fashion! The Rose Gold Unicorn Cupcake at Gasparilla Island Grill And now unicorns have landed at Disneyland Resort’s Jolly Holiday Bakery! Thanks to our forever Disney food friend Heather Sievers (@DiningInDisney!) we’ve got the details on this towering sugary beast! Unicorn Cupcake The base of this cupcake is confetti cake — colorful and sweet and trend-worthy! The frosting? Holy mountain of rainbow buttercream, Batman! Unicorn Cupcake Totally awesome for frosting lovers (like us!). The unicorn’s horn is crafted from chocolate, and the filling of the unicorn cupcake is mango — sweet and tart and fun for summer. Filling It’s not an over-abundance of mango filling, so you’re still getting plenty of that traditional confetti cake flavor, but with the super sweet frosting, the filling works! The Monte Cristo Sandwich at Woody’s Lunchbox in Hollywood Studios’ Toy Story Land has become the first “blink and you miss it” item in this new Land. The Monte Cristo is no longer available on the Lunch/Dinner menu. Woody’s Lunch Box Initially we were excited to see this on the menu thinking about the signature must-have Monte Cristo in Disneyland’s Cafe Orleans. However, we found this did not measure up to the Disneyland sandwich as it was more a grilled sandwich with a side of raspberry jam. Olaf isn’t the only one who loves summer! We do too, but sometimes the heat can be a bit intense and we have to get creative when it comes to staying cool at the Disneyland Resort. To help you beat the heat here are some extra “cool” tips from the Disney Parks Moms Panelists to ensure you get the most out of your trip. For Cathy, the key is staying hydrated. She recommends placing water bottles in your hotel’s mini-refrigerator the night before you go to the parks. The cool bottles will no doubt help you get through the morning hours, but to survive the afternoon, she recommends grabbing a complimentary ice cold water at almost any of the quick service dining locations throughout the resort. Guests can also cool off by taking on one of Disneyland park or Disney California Adventure park’s water attractions, but watch out as you never know if you’ll get a little splash or completely soaked! We recommend grabbing a FastPass in the morning for either Splash Mountain or Grizzly River Run so your return time takes place when the day is at its hottest. Linda recommends taking a break in the shade by visiting the Disney Animation Building in Disney California Adventure park. Inside the Animation Building, you can visit the Beast’s Library to find out which Disney character your personality resembles, take part in Animation Academy, or chat with some of your favorite characters from “Finding Nemo” at Turtle Talk with Crush. “Ant-Man and The Wasp” celebrated its European debut at Walt Disney Studios Park this weekend! Fans welcomed actors Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas and Hannah John-Kamen, as well as director Peyton Reed and producer Stephen Broussard, who made an unforgettable red carpet entrance in vintage cars. The cast stopped to take photos and sign autographs before joining 900 lucky audience members for a screening at the Studio Theatre. The ench-‘ant’-ing premiere is one of many highlights during the resort’s Marvel Summer of Super Heroes. Now through August 30th, guests can suit up with Iron Man, Captain America, and Black Panther – just to name a few – for a Super Hero-packed summer. When the Disney Magic returns to Northern Europe next summer, one special sailing will transport guests to storybook locales in and around Fredericia, Denmark, for the first time.
