Disneyland Resort is ready for love, offering several Valentine’s Day treats (both savory and sweet!) that will steal your heart. And there’s perhaps no treat as quintessentially Valentine’s as a Rose Cake Pop. Rose Cake Pop for Valentine’s Day We’ve seen these cleverly crafted sweet treats before — when Beauty and the Beast released in March of 2017. We enjoyed the Rose Cake Pop then, and it’s very nearly identical now. Rose Cake Pop for Valentine’s Day The rose shape comes from a swirl of sour ribbon candy beneath that thin layer of white chocolate (tinted red because Valentine’s), and we can’t say enough about how lovely this is to look at. (PS: It’s totally Instagrammable, too!) And this incarnation — unlike the first go ’round — features a subtle dusting of gold. Rose Cake Pop for Valentine’s Day You can see the gold dust better from this angle. It’s a nice touch, but it’s so subtle that it’s barely noticeable. The chocolate cake within, however, is dense and fudgy. We stopped by Animal Kingdom this week to check out all the new eats around the park. Hope you’re hungry because we have some exciting additions for you! Tree of Life New Appetizers and Entrees at Tiffins Tiffins has added a Thai Curry Mussels appetizer with yellow curry, fennel, crostini and Nam Phrik. They’ve also added a Butter Chicken entree that comes served with a Chickpea-Rice Croquette, English Peas, Cauliflower, and Pickled Onion. Tiffins New Menu Updates Other updates include the option to substitute Wagyu for the Tamarind Braised Short Rib entree, for an additional charge, and the Chicken and Waffles entree has been removed from the menu. Nomad Lounge Switches Up Their Truffle Poutine Our go-to spot for some relaxation and great cocktails, Nomad Lounge, has updated one of our favorite menu items: the Truffle Poutine. This poutine debuted in August of 2018 — click here to check out our original review. The most recent iteration included beef, but it seems that Nomad Lounge has swapped back to the original Truffle Poutine — Truffle Tremor Cheese, French Fries, crispy Onions, and Black Truffle Salt. Nomad Lounge Menu Updates Creature Comforts Cupcake Update We checked in at Creature Comforts to see the current cupcake lineup and — much to our dismay — the Lion King Cupcake is missing! You can check out the super cute Simba Cupcake here — and LUCKILY, they’re still available at Pizzafari. Creature Comforts Menu Updates Current cupcakes are Caramel Mocha and the Lotus Blossom. Mr Kamal’s Brings Back the Chicken Dumplings Chicken Dumplings have been added to the official menu over at Mr. Kamal’s. They are the same Chicken Dumplings they had when the Tasting Sampler was available at Christmas time — you can check out what we thought of them here. Mr. Kamal’s Chicken Dumplings These fried dumplings have a really great crunch to them — we’re SO happy to see them back! If you love Disney collectibles, get ready to step up your game! The powerhouse collectible company Mondo has announced a partnership with Disney and gave us a sneak peek at the first items to come from this collaboration. New Enamel Pins from Disney/Mondo Partnership ©Mondo Mondo is well known for its limited edition collectible items like movie posters, vinyl film soundtracks, apparel, enamel pins and more. For this Disney collaboration, fans can expect new pins to be released monthly. Mondo is kicking things off with a Sorcerer Mickey and a 90th Anniversary Mickey enamel pin, with pins inspired by the large collection of Disney films and TV shows to follow. Walt Disney World pastry chefs are always conceptualizing new cupcakes to wow their guests, and the Disney Parks Blog shared two brand new princess-inspired cupcakes that we just had to show you. In Landscape of Flavors at the Art of Animation Resort, guests can now pick up the Mermaid Tail Cupcake. This is a vanilla cupcake filled with pineapple compote and topped with a swirl of coconut buttercream. Garnishes include a glitter-dusted white chocolate mermaid tail (a la Ariel, of course!), crispy pearls, and graham cracker crumbs. B.B. Wolf’s Sausage Company, a food kiosk located in Disney World’s Disney Springs, is known for a menu of — what else! — sausages! And recently the menu was overhauled to include a few brand new sausage options. B.B. Wolf’s Sausage Co. We tried versions of a couple of the new options way back when B.B. Wolf’s first opened (click here to see: they were just Three Little Pigs at that time!). We just had to get back here to see how the newest menu items stack up! B.B. Wolf’s Sausage Company Menu Of course, we had to get a little of this and a lot of that — and top it all off with a “side” of edible cookie dough. More on that after we dig into some meat! B.B. Wolf’s Sausage Company Eats! The new menu items are all variations of a sausage sandwich and include flavors from all over the world! The Hawaiian Island Dog, Texas Chili-Cheese Dog, and New York Pastrami Reuben are specialty dogs, and they’re available in both full size and as a trio of Three Little Pigs. Three Little Pigs In case you were wondering, the Three Little Pigs aren’t so little. It would be a challenge to finish these as a solo diner, but if you’re at B.B. Wolf’s with a partner (or two!) who are also interested in trying them, this sampler is the perfect dish for you. Three Little Pigs That trio is such a fun way to try a variety of flavors (that’s what we did!). But if you already know what you love, link up to the full size! Three Little Pigs The Hawaiian Island Dog is the most unique of the three specialty options. It’s comprised of an All-Beef Hot Dog that’s topped with Grilled Pineapple Salsa, Spam, and Teriyaki Sauce on a House-Made Roll. The Grilled Pineapple Salsa is a great foil to the salty Hot Dog, and if you love a Hawaiian-style burger or even Hawaiian pizza, you’ll enjoy the Hawaiian Island Dog. The Spam was diced and hidden under the salsa. It’s a fun additional hit of salt with the added bonus of imparting a little more texture, too. The Hawaiian Island Dog was our favorite of the day! Hawaiian Island Dog The Texas-Chili Cheese Dog is another great choice and one that will sound a lot more familiar to people. This is an All-Beef Hot Dog topped with Chili, Cheddar, and Corn Chips on a House-Made Roll. The chili and cheese are good, of course, but we really love the use of corn chips. These add some awesome crunch and another layer of flavor. Texas Chili-Cheese Dog The New York Pastrami Reuben Dog also features that ubiquitous All-Beef Foot-Long Hot Dog. This time it’s topped with Shaved Pastrami, Swiss Cheese, Sauerkraut, and Russian Dressing on a House-Made Roll. Again, it hits all the right flavor notes… plus hot dog! The pastrami is meaty and salty (although we wish there was more of it…), the Swiss lends some creaminess, and the sauerkraut is a major flavor bomb. The Russian dressing adds some moisture and flavor, making this dog a little messy but a lot delicious. New York Pastrami Reuben Dog The Lamb Sausage is a completely new addition to the menu, and it’s a distinctive menu item — no hot dog bun in sight! Lamb Sausage This one is served on a pita, and it really works with the Mediterranean inspiration of the dish. Tomato Chutney, Yogurt Sauce, and Arugula add some sour, creamy, and spicy notes. Lamb Sausage The star here is the sausage itself, which is flavorful and slightly herbaceous. Lamb isn’t our favorite, so we didn’t love this as much as the dogs used on the Three Little Pigs. Lamb Sausage Overall, we liked this one, and it fills the need for a sausage option that isn’t in a massive, thick roll. But it was the least impressive option we tried. (However we think guests who love lamb will probably enjoy this more than we did…) Lamb Sausage We also wanted to try the new Vegetarian Bratwurst. Truth be told, the sausage in this dish is indistinguishable from meat — it’s so flavorful and moist! It’s topped with sauerkraut, German mustard, and lots of scallion bits. Vegetarian Bratwurst If you’re a fan of vegetarian sausage — and even if you’re not but you’re looking to supplement your diet with plant-based options — this is a great option! Note: the Vegetarian Bratwurst is served in a pretzel roll. It’s a lighter color than other pretzel rolls we’ve had, but it was still tasty. Vegetarian Bratwurst You might’ve noticed, curiously, that there are only two sides on the B.B. Wolf’s Sausage Co. menu: Potato Chips and Maple Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. We’re okay with eating cookie dough as a side if you’re okay with it. Maple Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Click here to read our first review of the Maple Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough! Our first foray into this sweet treat was that the bacon was too salty. It overwhelmed the other ingredients and rendered the maple to obscurity. Sadly the maple still didn’t shine on this go ’round, but at least the bacon was properly candied and sweeter, which made it more enjoyable this time. Maple Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough With tons of dining options in Disney Springs, it can be hard to know where to go. But if you’re a sausage fan and in the mood for a quick and filling meal, B.B. Wolf’s is actually a really good choice! You can try a traditional bratwurst or Italian Sausage, of course, or spread your sausage-y wings and go for a specialty dog. You really can’t go wrong! The former Little Mis-Matched store in Disney Springs is now a pop-up location for The Art Corner, after being a Greg McCullough gallery over the holidays. This is an interactive experience offering digital caricatures, name art, artistic marbling, and coffee art! The Art Corner Pop Up Location in Disney Springs You’ll recognize the caricatures, name art, and artistic marbling from various locations around the parks and resorts as they, and the new pop-up location, are run by the Artistic Talent Group. Take a tour with us of this new location! The first thing you’ll notice is how big and open the space is, and each offering is their own section or area, without the space feeling chopped up. The Art Corner In Name Works you get to turn your name into art work. There are several themes and options to choose from. Pretty soon you’ll have your own, very personal work of art! Name Works in the Art Corner I actually had one of these done for my son at the Festival of the Arts and it’s amazing how creative the artists can be! He and I both loved it. Name Works in the Art Corner If you want a fun portrait of yourself try out the digital caricatures that are offered here. Instead of drawing your caricature with markers on paper, this new option has the artist drawing your caricature on a screen and printing it out for you digitally — as the sign says they are “Caricatures of the Future!” Digital Caricatures If you’ve been to the Epcot Festival of the Arts you may have seen this fun way to decorate fabric there. There’s an area of the Art Corner dedicated to Artistic Marbling. Artistic Marbling in the Art Corner Artistic Marbling in the Art Corner You can choose to do some of the marbling yourself, or have an artist do the marbling for you with colors you choose. The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort has announced the dates, menus, and seminars for the 10th Annual Food and Wine Classic. Mark your calendars for Friday, November 8, and Saturday, November 9, 2019! The Food and Wine Classic also coincides with the 2019 Epcot Food and Wine Festival. And once again, the Food and Wine Classic will include both Seminars and The Causeway. Want to know what else you can expect at the 2018 Food and Wine Classic? Here’s a run down! The Causeway The central attraction of the Classic is the more than 40 tasting stations featuring dishes from the resort’s 17 restaurants and lounges as well as more than 30 wineries on the Causeway. Check out the Menus page for an idea of what you can expect! Swan and Dolphin Food and Wine Classic This year’s menu features returning favorites including Dynamite Rock Shrimp, Late Season Zellwood Corn, Wasabi Foam, Matsutake & Japanese Eggplant, Crispy Lotus Root from bluezoo, and Shake & Bake Style Southern Fried Chicken, Black-Eyed Pea Puree, White Cheddar Fondue, Bacon Infused Roast Garlic Gravy from Picabu. New items for 2109 include George’s Bank Sea Scallops, Wild Chanterelle, Cashew Romaesco, Navel Orange Beurre Blanc from Garden Grove and Brown Butter Poached Maine Lobster on a Toasted Brioche Bun with Lemon Aioli and Frisee from bluezoo. In Carnival Corner, guests can indulge in dressed up fair food! We’ve delighted in Hand Dipped Corn Dogs, Kettle Corn, and Fried Oreos in years past. Funfetti Fried Oreo Chinatown joined the line up in 2016 and returns again this year, and the food is incredible. Crispy Duck I’ll be lining up for seconds of their Crispy Duck and Shanghai Dumplings this fall! The Pig & Poke is a new Hawaiian Luau-themed area that debuted in 2018, where guests can indulge in new menu items including Traditional Earth Baked Kalua Pork, “Tuna Poke,” and Shave Ice. Tuna Poke The Beer Garden The Beer Garden, first introduced in 2014, makes its way back again this year. Look for lots and LOTS of craft beer and cider, both local and national. Terrace Beer Garden Entrance In addition, the area offers guests tasty dishes, like Jager Schnitzel and returning this year, a Berliner Doner Kabab featuring Split Roasted Strauss Farm Veal, Garlic & Parsley Yogurt Sauce, Red Cabbage and Onions, Buttered Warm Flatbread. I absolutely LOVE anything cookies and cream, so when I heard that our chefs tested a recipe for the Cookies ‘n Cream Bread Pudding at Disney California Adventure park, I couldn’t resist sharing it! This special dessert is currently being offered at Pacific Wharf Café for Get Your Ears On – A Mickey and Minnie Celebration at Disneyland Resort. It’s the perfect sweet ending to any meal, and I know I’ll be making it tonight! Cookies ‘n Cream Bread Pudding Pacific Wharf Café at Disney California Adventure Park Serves 12 INGREDIENTS Bread Pudding: 1 lb. loaf day-old Italian bread 5 large eggs 1 ½ cups sugar 4 cups half and half 1 tbsp vanilla extract 24 chocolate sandwich cookies, quartered Topping: ½ cup heavy whipping cream 1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk 12 chocolate sandwich cookies, crushed FOR BREAD PUDDING: Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray 9×13-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside. Cut bread into one-inch cubes and place in large mixing bowl. Set aside. Combine eggs, sugar, half and half, and vanilla extract in a medium mixing bowl. Whisk until fluffy. Pour over cubed bread, stirring gently to mix. Set aside for 15 minutes and allow egg mixture to soak into bread. Gently stir in chocolate sandwich cookies. Pour bread pudding mixture into prepared baking pan and spread out evenly. Bake for 45-50 minutes, until top has set and a thermometer placed in the center reads 165°F. Cool for 15 minutes. TO SERVE: Whip heavy whipping cream in bowl of an electric mixer fitted with whisk attachment until medium peaks form. Cut bread pudding using Mickey Mouse-shaped cookie cutter and place on a plate. Drizzle with 1-2 teaspoons of sweetened condensed milk. Top each serving with 2 tablespoons whipped cream and 1 tablespoon of crushed chocolate sandwich cookies. View the full article

Joffrey’s is known for their giant Donut King donuts — but guess what we found there today: MINI Donuts! Yep, Joffreys did it! They now they offer some super fresh, amazing looking, and yummy mini-donuts. New Joffrey’s Mini Donuts We found these delightful mini donuts on their very first day being offered at Joffrey’s Tea Traders in Disney Springs. You’ve got to see these, because with names like Love Bug, Unicorn, Cookies & Cream, Snickers, and more you know they will be something to see (and try!). Look at these cuties! You get to choose 4 of them from the new line of 8 mini-donuts. We had a hard time choosing just 4 — so we went with all 8! Let’s introduce these new donuts to you! Mini Donuts at Joffreys! We’re guessing the Unicorn will be one of the more popular donuts in this new line. She’s got a little pink cheek, beautiful pink mane, and rainbow horn! The Unicorn is a vanilla donut topped with vanilla buttercream. Our favorite two minis were the Snickers and M&Ms. We were really happy to find even the Oreos on the Cookies and Cream mini were fresh, since when used as a topper Oreos have a tendency to feel damp or stale. As far as the Unicorn’s buttercream frosting, we couldn’t really tell a difference between that and the icing used on the other minis. We’ve heard from many fans of Beaches & Cream Soda Shop ever since we posted about the popular spot’s planned three-month long refurbishment. Most of you (and us) wanted to know “when will it close?” and we think we’re getting closer to an official date. Beaches and Cream Beaches & Cream is the super popular, super hard to get a reservation for, home to fun sundaes and treats including the Kitchen Sink, the No Way Jose, and now those Over-the-Top Milkshakes (which, as of yesterday, were no longer being served…we think because they ran out of the plastic serving cups…so they’ll likely be back soon). On our current search for reservations in August, we’re finding no more availability for Beaches and Cream after August 5th. Beaches and Cream Refurbishment August 5 is 178 days from today. Since you should be able to get ADRs up to 180 days in advance, the fact that nothing is coming up on the 6th or 7th is informative. In addition, operating hours are listed for August 5, but not for August 6 or 7. When we called Disney World Guest Services for confirmation, we were told that no set date has been made public for the closure. We’ll keep working on confirming the closing date for you, but in the meantime, it’s looking like August 5th has potential as the final day the ice cream shop will be open. As always, we have to say that it’s not unprecedented for Disney to close off reservations for a location for weeks or months, only to open them up again a few days later. So there’s hope for those of you headed to Disney in mid-August. Beaches and Cream Kitchen Sink While Beaches & Cream is closed for refurbishment, a “satellite ice cream parlor” will be opened at either the Yacht Club or Beach Club Resort — there is no word on if the sundaes and milkshakes will be offered at this temporary location or not. With the addition of Pixar Pier, Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Breakout, and now Marvel Land coming to the park, there’s so much to enjoy and to anticipate! But today we wanted to celebrate this enterprising little park by sharing some of our favorite treats — old and new — to get at the snack locations and shops around DCA! Hot Link Corn Dog and Cheese Stick Corn Dog — Corn Dog Castle It’s not a visit to Disneyland Resort without stopping for a corn dog, and one of our favorite spots is Corn Dog Castle! Sweets, sweets, and more sweets are bringing sugary happiness Walt Disney World Resort this month, and I can’t wait to take a bite out of all these treats. Want to get in on the sweetness yourself? If so, I’ve got all the info you need right here with the February edition of Walt Disney World Resort Sweet Treats. First up, we’re trekking to Disney’s Animal Kingdom to try the beautiful Purple Lotus Flower Cupcake. Available at Creature Comforts and Restaurantosaurus, this yellow vanilla cupcake is filled with strawberry mousse and topped with a blooming purple buttercream lotus flower (which goes PERFECTLY with those new purple headbands, don’t you think?). In addition, we’re celebrating Disney’s “The Lion King” with a tasty tribute to a little guy who just can’t WAIT to be king – the Simba Cupcake is a yellow vanilla cupcake filled with yummy white chocolate mousse and topped with buttercream, an edible piece featuring Simba, and a fierce mane of orange and yellow icing. If you’re hunting for this dessert, you’ll find it prowling around Isle of Java and Pizzafari. And at Tusker House Restaurant for breakfast, I’ve heard that the waffles are now themed to Simba and Nala! Speaking of princess-inspired cupcakes, splash on over to Landscape of Flavors at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort to try this ADORABLE Mermaid Tail Cupcake. You’ll definitely want this vanilla cupcake to be part of your world, because it’s filled with pineapple compote and topped with coconut buttercream, crispy pearls, graham cracker crumbs, edible glitter, and a white chocolate mermaid tail. I love this next dessert so much, I just can’t let it go! If you’re in the Norway pavilion at Epcot, why not stop by Kringla Bakeri og Kafe to try Sven’s Apple Cheesecake? This apple-shaped cheesecake is filled with apples and isn’t just for reindeer, it’s for people too! Find your inner-artist with this special Epcot International Festival of the Arts Dessert at Sunshine Seasons. This multicolored vanilla cake is splattered with color and topped with peanut butter buttercream and a little paint brush. It will be available through the end of the festival on Feb. 25th. Last up is a special new offering at Disney Springs. Amorette’s Patisserie known for their incredible dome cakes, often themed after popular Disney characters such as Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, and Donald. The pastry shop recently added a new dome cake design – the Mickey Premium Bar Dome Cake! Isn’t it the cutest thing you’ve ever seen? Preschoolers can go under the sea and meet the whole gang from the timeless film “Finding Nemo” at The Seas With Nemo & Friends located in Future World at Epcot. A playful clownfish and animated sea turtle take center stage in the fun-filled adventure just right for tykes. Adorable clam-mobiles transport you on a quest to find Nemo thru a vibrant coral reef and underwater mines with encounters with Nemo’s pals along the way. Bruce’s Shark World play area is super fun too with interactive touch screens and a life-size replica of the great white shark, Bruce, who loves to show off his pointy teeth. Yikes! Around the bend, there’s loads of laughs and a little head scratching at Turtle Talk with Crush, where kids can actually converse with Crush and learn a little dude-speak. And curious preschoolers are mesmerized by the 5.7 million gallon aquarium filled with clownfish, sharks and exotic fish. Tonight’s “After Dark” image was snapped at Tokyo Disneyland, where the park’s lovely Cinderella Castle glimmers in the evening. On the exterior, Tokyo’s castle is very similar to the one found at the Walt Disney World Resort, however, at Tokyo, guests can enter the castle to view paintings, dioramas, and other artworks that help tell Cinderella’s story. Actor John Stamos and his wife, Caitlin, commemorated their recent first wedding anniversary at Disneyland park today. I’ve always loved exploring World Showcase at Epcot and discovering more about each of the countries represented. Today we are very excited to announce that starting March 6, the tender story and vibrant music of Disney•Pixar’s “Coco” comes to the Mexico pavilion, courtesy of the incomparable Mariachi Cobre. The immensely talented musicians of Mariachi Cobre are joined by a pair of Folklórico dancers to tell the tale of Miguel Rivera, his love of music, and his journey to find what matters most – his familia. The dancers perform to the music of the film, pulling everyone into the celebration, and Miguel himself appears in the form of a whimsical, hand-crafted puppet. This new “Coco”-inspired show expands the repertoire of Mariachi Cobre, who will also continue enchanting guests at the Mexico pavilion with performances of traditional mariachi music. Disney just announced that the new Riviera Resort, opening this December, will feature a lounge that honors Walt Disney’s travels through Europe. Disney’s Riviera Resort © Disney The new lounge will be called Voyageurs’ Lounge and according to Disney will offer guests an “an artful little gathering place” to relax and share vacation memories. Voyageurs’ Lounge’s decor will be inspired by the books that Walt Disney collected and by Walt’s 1935 European “Grand Tour,” and will showcase some of Disney’s connections to Europe — which is the inspiration for the entire Resort’s decor.
