  7. A few days ago we got some insight into the state of Disney parks — such as the reopening of Shanghai Disneyland — during the Walt Disney Company Second Quarter Earnings Call. ©Disney Now, it appears that a very early step in the process of resuming operations in Disneyland is being put into motion. Disney is working with California government and health officials to reinstate limited teams for “essential work” on Avengers Campus and Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. According to the Orange County Register, construction will periodically be performed in regards to Disneyland’s two upcoming attractions, as well as a few others to protect the projects. This is resuming as the resort remains closed. Disneyland Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Concept Art ©Disney Specifically, the “skeleton crews” will be weather protecting Avengers Campus and receiving steel deliveries for Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. The crews will be made up of Disneyland employees, Walt Disney Imagineers, and third-party contractors. ©Disney Avengers Campus So far, work has not resumed on the Disneyland refurbishments that were underway during the closure including Haunted Mansion, Snow White’s Scary Adventures, and King Arthur’s Carrousel. Third-party companies have resumed construction at two Downtown Disney locations — Sanuk sandal store and Starbucks. “Mickey Mouse in Perfect Picnic” ©Disney Disneyland placed a halt on construction shortly after the closure of the theme parks. According to the earnings call, they paused $900 million in construction projects. Avengers Campus, originally set to open July 18th, is now listed as “Coming Soon” on the Disneyland website. Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway has maintained its projected opening of sometime in 2022. Click here to learn more about the upcoming Avengers Campus! 8. There are few things we enjoy more than looking through old family photos and seeing what Disney World used to look like. 1985 Magic Kingdom Almost like a time capsule of sorts, these photos give us a glimpse into what Disney World was like back in the ’90s, ’80s, and even ’70s! We also get a fun reminder of what fashion and hairstyles used to look like as well. Pluto! We had our writers and staff send in old family pictures and the results were AMAZING. We hope you enjoy looking through this digital album as much as we did! Revisiting the Park Icons Over the Years! While the Disney parks “will never be complete,” the park icons have (more or less) remained the same throughout the years! Here’s a photo we found of Cinderella Castle from 1980, less than ten years after the park first opened. Cinderella Castle from 1980! No matter where we visit from, our family photos have the same, beautiful castle in the background. Cinderella Castle In the past, we may notice that Main Street, U.S.A. seemed a lot “quieter” than it has been in recent years. Look at how empty Main Street was! Well, for every ‘quiet’ Main Street photo, we found a ‘busy’ photo to match! Here’s Main Street, U.S.A. from 1985, looking awfully similar to Main Street crowds these days (with the exception of a few different hair and fashion choices). Main Street U.S.A. in 1985 There was one MASSIVE, noticeable change in 1996, however! Do you remember the castle’s complete transformation into a giant cake for Disney World’s 25th Anniversary?! Who remembers the Castle Cake from Disney World’s 25th Anniversary!? Speaking of anniversaries, here’s a picture we dug up from Disney World’s 15th Anniversary! Way back from Disney World’s 15th Anniversary! Here’s a facade that has seen some changes over the years, but to this day still stands: the replica Chinese Theater at the entrance of Hollywood Studios (although when this picture was taken, the park went by a different name…let us know in the comments if you know what we’re talking about)! From back when Hollywood Studios went by a different name… And here’s a snapshot from Animal Kingdom’s earliest years, in front of the iconic Tree of Life! The whole family out in front of Tree of Life in its earliest years! Meeting Beloved Characters For the First Time We recently shared the “My First Disney Character Challenge,” in which fans are invited to share their earliest moments with some of their favorite Disney characters! We found tons of these special moments! Here’s an adorable moment with Snow White. (Yep, she’s wearing a watch! That’s a super sweet backstory where one of our photographer’s family members gave Snow a Snow White watch and she wore it for their photo!) Two young princesses! We all remember meeting Mickey Mouse, but Donald Duck might have a bone to pick if you don’t remember meeting HIM for the first time! Donald Duck! And here’s Friar Tuck from Robin Hood meeting one of his youngest admirers! Also, check out this old-school stroller… . Friar Tuck! And obviously we can’t forget including at least ONE photo of an early meet-and-greet with Mickey and Minnie Mouse! We’re obsessed with Minnie’s flower hat! Minnie and Mickey! In fact, meeting Mickey back then was a pretty different experience than meeting him now. Who else remembers character interactions being a bit of a “free for all?” We swapped a couple of stories regarding the number of character photos we have in our collection with folks NOT from our family! Check out this photo as an example. These two aren’t related at all! Meeting characters back in the day was a free-for-all! And of course, meeting Goofy is always a special occasion, no matter how old you are! Does anyone else still have that 90s Daisy baseball hat? Or is it just us? Goofy! And here’s a fun parade moment for ya! Anyone else remember Mickey’s Street Party Parade from 1985? Mickey’s Street Party Parade from 1985 Even MORE Amazing Photos Taken Throughout the Parks! Whether it’s getting on a classic Disney World ride or sitting down to eat, we found a lot of one-of-a-kind photographs from past vacations. One staff member found a duo of Dumbo photos, taken one year apart at both Disney World AND Disneyland (and no, the coordinating yellow Dumbo was NOT planned)! Can you tell which Dumbo is from which park? Two Dumbos! Anyone remember 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea? We certainly do! 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea And here’s a blast from the past: our beloved Garden Grill Restaurant used to be called The Land Grille Room! It was super fancy and amazing and had MICKEY SHAPED BUTTER STATUES. Who remembers when Garden Grill was called The Land Grille Room!? One of the greatest gifts these photos give us every time we look at them is a stark reminder of the fashion trends and style choices we all made back in the day. Smile! Whether it was the clothes we chose to wear or the way we styled our hair, we were certainly not afraid to make some bold choices. We think we looked pretty fabulous back then if you ask us! And peep that fab Epcot merch bag! Our FABULOUS 1980’s look at Epcot! Here are some wonderful 80s hairstyles on Jungle Cruise! LOTS of hair happening on Jungle Cruise. We even gave those street performers a run for their money with our style choices! One word: style. But at the end of the day, fashion trends come and go, but we’re still reaching for our shades and Mickey Ice Cream Bar with our napkin bib on. We had the MOST amount of style back in the day. We hope you enjoyed our brief trip down Disney World Memory Lane! Over the years, much has changed (from the rides to restaurants to our hair and outfits), but a lot has remained the same: our love of Disney parks! Want to share your earliest Disney World memories? 10. The Disney Cruise Line fleet is made up of four ships: the Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, and Disney Fantasy. Disney Wonder Disney Cruise Line has cancelled sailings into June and July for the fleet to promote guest and crew safety amid the current global health situation and in light of the CDC’s current “No Sail Order” for cruise ships. As we follow the status of the ships, Port Canaveral has shared a unique view of three of the four ships currently docked there on the port’s Facebook page. The images (which Port Canaveral shares via a video) show the Disney Fantasy, the Disney Dream, and the Disney Magic docked together. Screenshot of video ©Port Canaveral on Facebook And Port Canaveral shared the following message to accompany the video: “MICKEY HAPPY FACE: Port Canaveral had the honor to receive three Disney Cruise Line ships at once, so we decided to put them all together – the Magic, Fantasy and the Dream. It will just be a matter of time before happy passengers are embarking on their new journey.” Screenshot of video ©Port Canaveral on Facebook The Orlando Sentinel shares that the Disney Wonder remains near San Diego, making regular stops in the port to resupply. The article also reminds that Disney Cruise Line has three new ships on order — the first of which is the Disney Wish. ©Disney Though the Wish was originally slated to arrive in late 2021 (with guest sailings to begin in January 2022), it is noted that “the company said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that there may be some delays in construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.” Disney CEO Bob Chapek and CFO Christine McCarthy recently addressed the status of Disney Cruise Line in an earnings call, sharing that the cruise line will likely be the last of the company’s travel-oriented businesses to come back online, but also expressed confidence in an eventual return to normal, noting the line’s high ratings among customers. We’ve got the whole world to cover — so let’s get started! First Up, Disney World! As of yesterday, reservations are now being canceled through the end of May and the Disney World website still says the parks will be closed “until further notice.” Cinderella Castle At the time of writing, you can still book a Disney World vacation starting June 1st, but Disney hasn’t announced if the parks will be open at that time. Click here to read the do’s and don’ts of canceling your Walt Disney World trip! And Now Disneyland! Tokyo Disneyland We’re still waiting on word from Toyko Disneyland, which has remained unchanged for some time. Currently, their website is still stating an update will be announced by mid-May! Hong Kong Disneyland And mums the word so far from Hong Kong Disneyland… Mystic Manor at Hong Kong Disneyland …although a character meal did recently reopen at one of the hotels, Hong Kong Disneyland Park remains tight-lipped and closed until further notice like the rest of ’em! 12. Mickey and Minnie are the most inspirational Disney couple we know (and we know A LOT of Disney couples!). They even have their own RIDE! Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway But if you’re thinking about asking out that certain-someone who’s slid into your DMs or caught your attention IRL, there are a few things you should know before taking them on a date to Disney World! From “Who’s Paying?” to “How to Recover From Looking Like You Just Peed Your Pants on Splash Mountain” (actually, on second thought — you’re on your own with that last one!), we’re going to cover all the bases of why Disney World is a great place to get to know someone on a first date — as well as reasons why it might not be a good fit! YES!!! Disney World is a Great First Date IF: You’re Both Big Disney Nerds — Or at Least Seem to Have an Equal Appreciation for All Things Disney Odds are you have something in common with this person you’ve got designs on, otherwise, you probably wouldn’t be embarking on a first date! But Disney World as a FIRST date could be potentially hazardous if one of you is a bigger fan than the other! Think about it this way — is your date going to understand waiting in a loooong line to hug Buzz Lightyear? What if you always cry during the Happily Ever After fireworks show at Magic Kingdom. Is that going to make it weird? Don’t Forget to Ask Your Date a Few Screener Questions First, Like “What Are Your Thoughts on it’s a small world?” What if they — GASP! — don’t like Pineapple Dole Whip? Would you turn and walk away right then and there? Or what if that person refuses to go on “it’s a small world” and keeps calling it the creepy doll ride? Your love might not survive a first date to Disney World! Many New Relationships Have Started and Ended Over Pineapple Dole Whip! You’ll have to figure out if you’re park-hopping compatible before making a big commitment to spend your first date at Disney World as a couple! If you still have to hide your “Disney crazy” with this one, though, best NOT to choose Disney World as that first day together. You Both Have Tickets Already Or Are Cool With Splitting Costs Disney World is a pretty expensive first date — it costs right up there with going to a major sporting event! That’s a pretty big financial burden to put on someone who doesn’t know you’re totally worth it yet (and you thought deciding if you should split the check at a normal dinner was a tough decision!). Snack Money Pouch If you aren’t planning on going dutch, it would be a lot easier on your date if you both had Annual Passes or park tickets already! If not, maybe consider going to Disney Springs instead! You don’t need a costly ticket and you can avoid some of the potentially awkward situations of going halfsies while still getting a healthy dose of Disney! That way, your date only has to spring for a movie or dinner — which sounds much more chill and flexible as well! You’re Not Weirded Out By Linking Your My Disney Experience Accounts Or are Fine with Doing Disney World More Spontaneously Going to Disney World can require quite a bit of forethought — some people set aside a full year for planning for their perfect trip to Disney World! Chances are, your date doesn’t want to wait around that long, so if you can make up your mind about the stuff you want to do together spur of the moment (which might not include some of Disney World’s most-popular restaurants and attractions since they probably booked up months ago), no problemo! You could, however, rope drop Hollywood Studios to get a Rise of the Resistance boarding group (maybe you’re both morning people?)! Rope Dropping Hollywood Studios for Rise of the Resistance Boarding Groups on a First Date Would Be TOTALLY INSANE, But We’re Totally Down! And if you want to make FastPass reservations together, then you’ll both have to link your accounts on the My Disney Experience app. Maybe this sounds like a BIG step in your relationship and more commitment than getting down on one knee at this early stage! With this Mickey and Minnie’s Railway MagicBand, I Thee Wed — Don’t Worry! It’s Not Legally Binding! Either way, you can always just have a fun, light-hearted, and more spontaneous day at the parks than you’re probably used to by just walking around talking, seeing shows, jumping in shorter lines, taking photos, and eating lots of SNACKS! You Want to Go with a Group Scared of going it alone? Disney World is a great spot for a group date! You can bring your friends along and make it seem totally natural! Also, if you’re planning on spending the ENTIRE day at Disney World, that’s a very LONG first date! You might need some reinforcements to help you get through it! Squad Leader Shirt During the day, you can vibe off your buddies and let them do some of the conversational heavy-lifting. Then later in the day, maybe go off and do your own thing! Go have a nice, private dinner somewhere and then watch the fireworks afterward — without your friends staring at you making kissy faces. Ah yes, but they mean well! Happily Ever After If that all sounds like a dream come true, enjoy your perfect (and possibly exhausting!) first date! But now, you sweet little lovebirds, you, let’s examine a few reasons why maybe you should AVOID Disney World as a first date spot AT ALL COSTS! NO!!! Disney World is NOT a Good First Date IF: The Weather Isn’t Looking Too Good Florida’s weather can be really unpredictable and a little too much to handle sometimes! Although you’ll be inside buildings for rides, meals, and shopping, most of your first date will be spent hoofing it outdoors! You don’t want to get caught in a downpour over in Epcot’s World Showcase or in the back of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge running for shelter! Will Your Love Survive Hurricane-Like Winds and Storm Clouds??? Better Not Chance It! When the day finally comes and you know what the weather is supposed to be like, ask yourself — is this really a good idea? A not-too-hot, not-too-cold day that’s partially cloudy would be ideal, but let’s be honest — that’s rarely in the cards. More likely it will be a bajillion degrees Fahrenheit and your make-up will be melting off your face not to mention sweat will be pouring from every inch of your body! If you want to show your new love interest the REAL you, Disney could be a good trial by fire! Do You Like the Idea of Sweating in Front of Each Other ALL DAY in the Magic Kingdom? A cloud burst could also have disastrous consequences on your budding romance. We like piña coladas, but NOT getting caught in the rain! Rain in the forecast can mean a deal-breaker day for many, but maybe you’re inclined to think something magical might happen! It’s possible some folks just don’t appreciate what a good frolic in the rain can do for a relationship! You’re Not 100% Really Sold on This Person More than likely, you’ve only just met this person, and there’s no quick ‘n easy escape if the two of you aren’t really working out. You don’t want to be stuck waiting in a 2-hour line for Peter Pan’s Flight when you suddenly get the feeling things are going a little pear-shaped! If You’re Looking to Jump Ship on This Relationship During Peter Pan’s Flight, You’re Outta Luck! Our best Disney World relationship advice? Save the parks for someone who’s really special — and who you know you’re gonna want to spend A LOT of time with! I didn’t go on my first date to Disney World until my honeymoon! You DON’T have to wait THAT long, but still — Disney World is a special place, so make sure you visit it with special people! Have you ever gone on a first date at Disney World? 13. Disney World is constantly bringing in new updates. Just look at Epcot’s Future World right now! Construction wall central! Future World During Flower and Garden Still, some of the oldest parts of Disney have a good dose of charm to them that we just can’t pass up. Today, we’re taking a look at seven outdated things at Disney World that we’re TOTALLY cool with! Check them out! 1. Country Bear Jamboree Ok look, it’s not a huge stretch to say that Country Bear Jamboree is a wildly outdated attraction, but you know what? That’s OK with us. The audio-animatronics are an interesting mix of cute and kinda scary and the dialogue is SO outdated yet charming! Country Bear Jamboree Like a glimpse into a bygone era, it actually fits pretty perfectly in its Frontierland setting. Plus, the Jamboree was one of the very last attractions that Walt Disney personally helped develop! It was originally planned for a never-built Disney ski resort in California. NEAT! Click here to learn about Country Bears Jamboree and MORE opening day attractions! 2. Tom Sawyer Island Next up, we’ve got Magic Kingdom’s Tom Sawyer Island! This attraction is based on the classic Mark Twain book, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, that inspired the 1973 Disney film, Tom Sawyer. This island, located across the water from Frontierland, is brimming with creative theming and many kids love exploring here. Tom Sawyer Island Guests of all ages can take a raft over to the island to explore a lost era of forts, dark mining caverns, and more. It’s basically a giant playground with interactive elements like a waterwheel, a barrel bridge, and plenty of rocks to crawl on! Plus, it makes for a great escape from the crowds! If you’re visiting Disney World during a crowded day, take a trip over to Tom Sawyer Island for a nice respite. If Aunt Polly’s is open (the seasonal restaurant on the island is typically only open at Disney World’s busiest times of year) you can even grab a yummy biscuit slider or a root beer float! Click here to learn more about Aunt Polly’s! 3. Enchanted Tiki Room Over in Adventureland, we gotta give some love to the totally outdated Enchanted Tiki Room. Experiencing this attraction is like stepping into a time capsule from the days of early audio-animatronics. The animatronic birds were one of Walt’s earliest visions for the audio-animatronic technology he helped pioneer. And, yes, WE LOVE THOSE ROBOTIC BIRDS. Not only is this an opening day Magic Kingdom attraction (it was called Tropical Serenade when it first opened), but we’ve seen it get a huge change in the past that PROVED that we prefer the Tiki Room as is. Enchanted Tiki Room Remember Enchanted Tiki Room (Under New Management) with Zazu and Iago? Maybe you’ve blocked it out of your memory (no judgment!). It was a very unique take on our beloved way to hear the “birds sing words,” and a large number of fans were not in favor of the change. This version lasted from 1998 to 2001 when a fire closed the ride, leading Disney to reopen the attraction in its original form, which fans welcomed back to the park. We’ll take our outdated Tiki Room just like it’s always been, please! Take a peek at the new Enchanted Tiki Room Minnie Mouse merch coming soon! Click here! 4. Character Costumes in Beauty and the Beast — Live on Stage! Hollywood Studios might be the park with the NEWEST stuff right now, like the amazing Rise of the Resistance in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, but it’s also got some seriously outdated gems. One of these is the Beauty and the Beast — Live on Stage! show on Sunset Boulevard. ©Disney Obvi the story of Beauty and the Beast is timeless, but those character costumes are CERTAINLY not. They’re pretty big and clunky compared to the representations we see in other spots in the parks, like Enchanted Tales With Belle in Magic Kingdom. It’s true, Chip, Mrs. Potts, and Cogsworth could probably stand for a little bit of an update, but we like them the way they are. 5. Future World Music You might not KNOW that you’ve heard this outdated thing before but if you’ve been to Epcot, you certainly have! We’re talking about the music in Future World! Seriously, listening to the speakers in the front half of Epcot is like taking a trip back to the ’80s. Future World And…we love that. The tunes are really iconic and fun synthesized versions of classic Epcot tunes. Listen closely and you’ll hear bits of “One Little Spark” (from the original Journey Into Imagination), “Golden Dream” (from the American Adventure), The original theme from The Living Seas (now The Seas With Nemo and Friends), and even the theme from Honey, I Shrunk the Audience! Next time you’re navigating the maze of construction at the front of Epcot, slow down and appreciate these classic tunes. You’re hearing early Epcot at its finest. We’ll have to see if this nostalgic music survives the Epcot Transformation! Love Disney parks music? Click here! 6. Muppet*Vision 3D Next on the list is Muppet*Vision 3D over in Hollywood Studios. We will NEVER pass up an opportunity to check out this show even if it is starting to show its age a bit. The theater feels a bit older, the 3D is outdated by today’s standards, and the animatronics are definitely on the earlier side when compared to newer technology like Hondo Ohnaka just steps away in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Muppet Vision 3-D Still, this show is a TON of fun — especially when Sweetums comes out and bubbles start flying! We’ll go see the Muppets anytime we can. Can you blame us? They rock! Click here to learn about the Muppet*Vision 3D refurbishment and reopening! 7. Journey Into Imagination with Figment Queue Ok this one might be one of our favorite outdated things in Disney World. The queue for Journey Into Imagination with Figment is FILLED with the movie references of yesterday. Walking through the Imagination Institute, you’ll see reference to Robin Williams as Professor Brainard in Flubber and Rick Moranis as Wayne Szalinski in Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, plus references to The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes and other Dexter Riley films! 2020 Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival Kids of today probably haven’t seen or even HEARD of many of these films. Still, keep your eyes open in the queue and you’re sure to be delighted by some of these outdated references. (There’s even a hidden Buzz Lightyear figure. Can you find him?!) We may miss the original version of the Figment attraction, but this fun and short queue make up for it slightly! Click here to learn why we think there should be an in-ride photo on Figment! So you see, newer isn’t ALWAYS better. Sometimes, give us those oldies that have stood the test of time! If you need us, we’ll be heading over to Tom Sawyer Island. 16. As Mother’s Day approaches, treasured memories of mom warm the heart like no other time of the year. And earlier today, Walt Disney World Ambassador Marilyn West grabbed our attention with a heartwarming memory of her own from a magical Disney visit with mom years ago! With the uplifting photos, Marilyn also challenged her friends on Instagram to post a similar Disney memory of a special mom in their life – and we’re loving what’s been shared. Disney super fan Emily Sims from Magical Kinda Mama accepted the challenge and shared a touching photo of a favorite Disney memory with her children at Disneyland Resort. Disney memories with mom can span generations like with cast member Lisa Mendillo. Lisa accepted the challenge and posted a heartfelt photo with her mom as well as with her new daughter surrounded by balloons and happiness. For Betsy S. of the Disney Parks Moms Panel – her Disney memory with a special mom is with her grandmother during an unforgettable visit to EPCOT at the Walt Disney World Resort. And this Mother’s Day, other members of our Disney Parks Moms Panel are sharing inspiring memories to mark the occasion. 18. Bacon, and eggs, and Mickey waffles, OH MY! Breakfast Skillet Does anyone else find themselves craving breakfast food constantly? Just us?? Well, we’re so dedicated to “the most important meal of the day” that we decided to do some digging to see if there’s a place in Disney World that serves breakfast all day! So put on your stretchy pants and let’s go on a (scrambled) egg hunt! Let’s start by getting the obvious out of the way — Disney World doesn’t have any breakfast-themed restaurants à la IHOP or Waffle House. The restaurants that DO offer breakfast menus will begin to change over to lunch around 10:30-11:00AM. And that goes for both quick service and table service locations! So, as far as an all-encompassing, all-day breakfast eatery, sadly, that option is OUT. But let’s see what we can dig up instead. Now, let the sleuthing begin! Weekend Brunch Options at Disney World Brunch is becoming an increasingly popular trend, as is evident by countless Instagram photos of omelets and mimosas probably all over your feed! And some locations at Disney World have gotten in on the action as well! In our searching, we found several restaurants with brunch offerings that will at least get you breakfast a little further into the afternoon — spoiler alert, most of them are at Disney Springs! Disney Springs Now, we admit that the brunch menus we found definitely come with some limitations. First, each of these places only serves brunch on the weekends — with some offering it on both Saturday and Sunday, and others sticking just to Sunday. Also, the brunch menus aren’t served all day — but they are available past the typical 10:30-11:00AM breakfast cut off, so we’re getting closer! Disney Springs So, where can you get your brunch fix? At Disney Springs, STK Orlando, Homecomin’: Florida Kitchen and Southern Shine, House of Blues, and Raglan Road Irish Pub serve brunch on both Saturday and Sunday. You’ll also find Sunday brunch at Maria & Enzo’s Ristorante. Hush Puppy Benedict at Homecomin’ Outside of the Springs, you can grab Sunday brunch at California Grill, located in Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Fair warning, this is a hard (and pricey — brunch is $95 per adult!) reservation to snag, so you’ll definitely want to try for an Advance Dining Reservation when the window opens 180 days ahead of time (but butter-poached Lobster Benedict and all you can eat sushi for breakfast? Worth it!). Lobster Eggs Benedict at California Grill So, we haven’t found all-day breakfast yet, but at least we’re getting closer! Check out our review of the Rise and Shine Southern Brunch at Homecomin’! This Restaurant Has Unofficial “Brunch” Options Every Day of the Week Looking for some brunch on a weekday? Well, even though they don’t offer a “brunch” menu, Grand Floridian Cafe has an identical menu for both breakfast and lunch, so we’re considering them an unofficial brunch location! Grand Floridian Cafe Dining Room Their lunch menu includes some more “basic” items like Avocado Toast, Banana Foster-Style Steel-Cut Oatmeal, and Fruit and Yogurt. But here’s where we really start to get excited about the “breakfast-y” options — they offer Eggs Benedict during lunch! They serve three different styles — Traditional Eggs Benedict, Lobster Benedict, and Spicy Chorizo Benedict. Can’t decide on just one?? Us either! Which is why we love the Benedict Flight, which includes a tasting of all three options! Benedict Flight The lunch menu also includes an entrée called The Grand Breakfast, with bacon, eggs, sausage, and cheesy hash brown casserole. Plus, you’ll find pancakes, french toast, and waffles. Including one of our all-time favorites — the Buttermilk-Fried Chicken and Waffle! This incredible meal includes Hand-Breaded Chicken Breast and an Applewood-Smoked Bacon Malted Waffle topped with Sriracha-Honey Drizzle. So, it’s the perfect mix of sweet and salty, with a little kick of spicy to really bring it home! Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Waffles The menu does switch over for dinner, so we can’t get these yummy breakfast options alllll day. But at least we can get them through lunchtime any day of the week! Should you do dinner at Grand Floridian Cafe? Click here to read our review! Disney World Restaurants with Breakfast Items All Day Okay, so we established that there are no strictly breakfast-focused restaurants in Disney World. BUT, there are some places with “breakfasty” items that are offered all day — you just won’t have a full breakfast menu to choose from! The spot with the most choices is Sleepy Hollow Refreshments in Magic Kingdom! Sleepy Hollow Refreshments For those of you who haven’t enjoyed a delicious treat at Sleepy Hollow, this quick-service spot in Liberty Square is known for their waffles! You’ll find a handful of breakfast options here all day, including the Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich, the Sweet and Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich (that sounds like breakfast to us!), and, of course, the iconic Mickey Waffle! Fresh Fruit Nutella Waffle Sandwich from Sleepy Hollow While we’re on the subject of sweet options, there are a number of places in the parks you can find pastries and baked goods all day! In Disney’s Hollywood Studios, stop by The Trolley Car Cafe for a selection of bakery treats (and Starbucks coffee!). We also love the bakery case at Sunshine Seasons in Epcot. Pastries and baked goodies are pretty easy to come by, so there’s a silver lining in our breakfast food search — at least when it comes to sweet options! Flower Pot Cupcake at Sunshine Seasonscodep003 Epcot also has a few savory breakfast items offered in the World Showcase all day. You can snag a Ham and Cheese Croissant or a Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Croissant at Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie in the France Pavilion. Or, stop by Kringla Bakeri og Kafe in the Norway Pavilion for a Salmon and Egg Bagel! Toasted Croissant from Les Halles If you’re looking for a savory breakfast option after those AM hours have passed, Epcot is your best bet as far as the parks go! Click here to see what we think about the iconic School Bread at Kringla Bakeri og Kafe in Epcot! Late Night Breakfast We also found a few places that serve breakfast options on their late-night menus — in case your need for bacon is keeping you awake! Over in Disney Springs, you can still snag the Clothesline Bacon appetizer at The Edison! This is one of the few items offered on their late-night menu, so you can indulge in this salty treat up until midnight from Monday-Thursday! DB ‘Clothesline Candied Bacon’ There are three quick-service spots at the resorts that are open 24-hours a day — Gasparilla Island Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, Picabu Buffeteria at the Dolphin Resort, and Captain Cook’s at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. They don’t have any made-to-order breakfast options on the late-night menus, but they both offer assorted baked goods like bagels and muffins. Plus Gasparilla Island Grill also has cereals, yogurt parfaits, and fresh fruit. Gasaprilla Island Grill It may not be gourmet, but if you’re looking for some late-night breakfast bites, it’s better than nothing! Check out our official DFB Monorail Crawl!! Where Did We Find the Most All Day Breakfast Options?? Alright, now for the big finale! Where did we find the widest range of breakfast options available all day?? Brace yourself for this answer Disney fans because our big winner is…McDonald’s! Yup, we’re serious, there is a McDonald’s on Disney property — it’s near Disney’s All-Star Resorts! And even though this location is currently closed for remodeling, it’s open 24/7 when it is operational! McDonald’s Construction McDonald’s offers a limited breakfast menu all day, so this spot will give you a variety of options to choose from! Plus, since it’s open 24 hours a day (again, when it’s not under construction!), you won’t have to worry about making it there before they lock the doors on you. McDonald’s Hey, it might not be the most glamorous option, but we’ll take what we can get! McGriddles ALL DAY, ERRYDAY! Well, it’s been a long and delicious journey, but we’re glad you could join us on the hunt! And the next time you’re in Disney World, check out one of these spots to satisfy your breakfast cravings outside of the AM hours! We hope the rest of your day is sunny-side-up! 22. Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is FULL of incredible food. There are so many options for great eats, in fact, that it can lead to some tough decisions! There are even some food options you may not know even exist, making your choice on what to eat even TOUGHER! Cinderella Castle There is so much more to Magic Kingdom than just burgers and chicken nuggets, and that’s why we’re here! If you’re struggling to decide what to order next time you’re in the Most Magical Place on Earth, let us help! Go To Be Our Guest Restaurant for LUNCH instead of Breakfast or Dinner We think the main appeal of dining at Be Our Guest Restaurant is the chance to eat INSIDE Beast’s iconic castle. The food (ranging from good to why would I eat that?) kind of takes a backseat to the over the top gorgeous atmosphere you’re dining in. And you know what? It’s a pretty awesome restaurant to eat in! We love it, BUT we don’t love the price. Entrance into Beast’s Castle Our biggest issue is with their breakfast. For what you get, it’s incredibly overpriced if you’re paying out of pocket (we’re talking close to a whopping $30 per entree for breakfast!). Sorry, but a cronut with half a banana, some stale pastries, and a tiny bowl of fruit doesn’t cost 30 bucks, guys. Be Our Guest Croissant Donut Dinner has received a major price upgrade from the initial menu available when the restaurant opened in 2012. Back then, dinner only cost one table service credit on the Disney Dining Plan. But recently they upgraded to a prix fixe 3-course meal costing 2 table service credits per person or a whopping $62 for adults and $37 for kids out of pocket. This meal is fine flavor-wise…but costly. Here, you’re partially paying to meet the Beast, which you can only do at dinner. Roasted Pork Tenderloin Entree From Prix Fixe Dinner Here’s where lunch comes in. You get the most bang for your buck if paying out of pocket — most adult entrees are around $15-19 dollars. Better yet, if you’re on the Disney Dining Plan, lunch and breakfast inside the Beast’s castle are considered fast food meals, even though they’re served on real plates and brought to you at a table, so it will only cost you 1 quick service credit! (This is true for breakfast, too, so if you really want to eat the breakfast food here — or if you really want to score the best possible deal for your Disney Dining Plan quick service credit — then go for it; but ONLY when you’re using a credit, IMO.) Lunch for the Table at Be Our Guest Lunch at BOG is easily one of the best quick service options out there. You get to dine in the Beast’s castle AND have great food in a sit-down atmosphere. Win-win. Check out our latest review of lunch at Be Our Guest Restaurant here! Go to The Crystal Palace for BREAKFAST instead of lunch or dinner! While we recommend you wait until later in the day to eat at Be Our Guest Restaurant, when it comes to The Crystal Palace, the earlier you can get in, the better! This character dining experience offers buffet meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you’re paying out of pocket, breakfast is considerably cheaper; your morning meal will come out to $42 per adult and $27 per child, whereas lunch and dinner will cost you $55 per adult and $36 per child. Crystal Palace You still get to meet the same bunch of characters at breakfast as you do at lunch or dinner — typically Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, and Eeyore. You can also dine on a few Crystal Palace specialties only found here during breakfast — Pooh’s Breakfast Lasagna and Puffed French Toast! The former is basically just a really good excuse to get in a healthy serving of fresh fruit covered in creamy custard, and the Puffed French Toast is like if a fresh cinnamon sugar donut and french toast had a baby! Both are delicious! You Want This Puffed French Toast in Your Life On top of being a better value, snagging an early morning breakfast dining reservation can also get you into the park early (breakfast typically begins before the park is open to the public for the day, but guests with reservations are allowed in early!), offering some great photo opportunities sans crowds in front of Cinderella Castle! Click here for a review of breakfast at Crystal Palace! Get a hand-scooped ice cream sandwich over a pre-packaged one! We get that many people consider those Nestle ice cream sandwiches sold at carts around the park iconic, but you’re selling yourself short if you don’t go for a delicious hand-scooped sammie! Hand-scooped ice cream sandwich! Yum! In our opinion, the Main Street Plaza Ice Cream Parlor is THE best place to go for hand-scooped ice cream — they have unique flavors and toppings, including peanut butter sauce (YUMMMM!). If you opt for a hand-scooped sandwich, you’ll get two freshly made chocolate chip cookies sandwiched with your choice of ice cream flavor. BUT…if you feel like getting crafty, you can even DIY the perfect ice cream sandwich yourself. Our Ice Cream Sandwich Food Hack Components! Sleepy Hollow Refreshments also serves yummy hand-scooped ice cream sandwiches. We recently had to bid a sad farewell to the churro ice cream sammie — but you can still get a classic hand-scooped cookie sandwich at this spot! Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich Regardless of where you choose to get your hand-scooped ice cream sandwich, you’ll pay $6.99 for these sammies. The pre-packaged varieties around the parks are slightly cheaper at $6 but trust us, the extra buck is SO worth it! See what other recent menu changes we’ve spotted while the parks are closed! Don’t eat breakfast at Starbucks! Go to Joffrey’s instead. Sometimes the best breakfast option out there is ALSO the most convenient option. While we know many of you out there LOVE your daily dose of Starbucks, there are other great coffee options to consider at Magic Kingdom with MUCH more manageable lines! Joffrey’s Revive Joffrey’s Coffee is a small chain that is local to Tampa, FL. But for a lot of you readers who may be less familiar, Joffrey’s has kiosk locations throughout Disney World, and offers specialty coffee, tea, pastries (including awesome local Donut King donuts!), and other beverage options! Joffrey’s Unicorn Donut Next time you’re in Magic Kingdom, skip Starbucks on Main Street (where the line is probably a mile and a half long), and head to Tomorrowland where you’ll find Joffrey’s Revive! Try one of their Donut King donuts (trust us – you’ll thank us later!). And get to the rides THAT much faster! Learn how to make some of Joffrey’s signature drinks at home here! Beware of the pre-packaged snacks! Head to Main Street Confectionary for the fresh stuff! Like we mentioned with our hand-scooped ice cream sandwiches, in general, if there’s a snack you’re craving at Magic Kingdom, chances are you can find it fresh instead of pre-packaged if you look around! The Confectionary Whether you want cotton candy, Rice Krispie treats, or hand-dipped apples, Main Street Confectionery will have plenty of snacks that were made that day (sometimes RIGHT in front of you!). Red, White, and Blue Krispie Treat for 4th of July You can watch cotton candy being freshly spun, apples being dunked in caramel, and so much more. Ask what treats are being prepared fresh that day and pick a winner! It’s tough to go wrong with any of their freshly prepared sweets! Find specialty snacks you can ONLY get at Magic Kingdom, instead of the snacks offered resort-wide! Our last tip is a big one, and it’s sort of a “catch-all” for the many tasty snacks you can find throughout the park. Magic Kingdom has no shortage of churros, Mickey Mouse pretzels, and Dole Whip. However, all of those items can be found elsewhere throughout Walt Disney World (those Mickey Mouse pretzels will follow you everywhere you go, trust us!). Mickey Pretzel The first snack we recommend you try instead of your traditional Dole Whip is a specialty Dole Whip Float! One of our faves has got to be the Kakamora Float from Aloha Isle. This seasonal-turned-regular menu item is coconut soft serve over pineapple juice, with blue curaçao syrup and a fun chocolate cake pop! Magic Kingdom is currently the ONLY spot to find this magical flavor! Kakamora Float Next up, instead of your typical churro, grab a Cheshire Cat Tail instead! This fan-favorite snack at Cheshire Cafe is a Chocolate Danish Twist, decorated with stripes of purple and pink icing that mimic the look of that sneaky Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. Cheshire Cat Tail To rinse that Cheshire Cat Tail down, head to Sunshine Tree Terrace in Adventureland for some FOMOsa! This fun beverage is sparkling apple cider topped with Dole Orange soft-serve in a champagne flute! Honestly, Sunshine Tree Terrace has LOTS of unique float options in a variety of fun flavors, so there’s sure to be at least one that strikes your fancy (We’re still fond of the new I Lava You Float!). FOMOsa! While you’re in Adventureland, shuffle over to the Spring Roll Wagon for sone of our FAVORITE snacks! These are some of the BEST snacks in Magic Kingdom, so much so that it always comes up in conversation when we tell folks where to find the best snacks each year. From Philly Cheesesteak to Pepperoni Pizza to classic Cheeseburger, we’ve been obsessed with this rotating menu of deliciousness! Be warned though — these crispy treats aren’t Disney Dining Plan snack credit eligible, so you’ll have to pay out of pocket if you want to chow down! Pizza Spring Rolls Finally, for dessert, we’re heading back to Sleepy Hollow for our beloved Nutella Waffle Sandwich! This has been a DFB fave for years and is a colossal snack that’s more like a magical dessert taco, loaded with fresh fruit and ALL the Nutella on a fresh-baked waffle. Fresh Fruit Nutella Waffle Sandwich You can call it whatever you want — we love it and you GOTTA try it! If you’re missing an iconic Disney World frozen snack right about now, learn how to make it at home here! With so many delicious options around Magic Kingdom, we want you to know all the BEST ways to max out your snackage in the park! Mickey Premium Bars and Churros are fine and all, but you can do BETTER, and we want to help make sure that happens. What is YOUR favorite thing to eat at Magic Kingdom? Let us know in the comments! 23. A lot like the world is has been shut down in response to the global health crisis. Disneyland Main Entrance The Disney Parks weren’t the only theme parks to shutter up for the safety of guests! Theme parks around the world have seen lengthy closures and some, like Disney Parks around the world, have remained closed longer than they ever have before. Now, many of these parks are starting to reopen or at least develop a plan to do so. As Disney looks to reopen Shanghai Disneyland likely followed by the other parks, what can we learn from the measures that non-Disney parks are taking? We’re taking a look at four different theme parks and their choices when it comes to protecting the health, safety, and trust of their guests. Six Flags Magic Mountain Six Flags Magic Mountain is a popular, large-scale amusement park located in California. According to the Themed Entertainment Association’s 2018 Theme Index, it ranked as the 16th most popular theme park in the country. ©Six Flags We’re taking a look at Six Flags Magic Mountain because its teams have published reports of actions they plan to take upon reopening — which makes them a rarity in the U.S.. Though we’ve heard some considerations from Disney and Universal, nothing concrete has been announced from the larger companies on their domestic parks. According to CBS Los Angeles, the reports from Six Flags Magic Mountain detail a health and safety plan for reopening that includes face masks, temperature checks, and constant sanitization. As we have heard Disney consider, the park will also be limiting the number of people allowed in line for each ride to promote physical distancing. ©Six Flags Six Flags Magic Mountain maintains the statement that they plan to reopen in mid-May or, “as soon as possible thereafter.” However, per the New York Times, this statement was posted on March 30th so it’s possible that this information is outdated as they will be limited by the California government’s reopening plan. Theme parks fall under Phase 4 of the plan which could potentially be months away. To read some of the health measures that Disney is considering, click here! Fantawild Parks On the other side of the globe, Fantawild parks in China have begun a phased reopening — just like Disney Shanghai plans to do. According to Attractions Magazine, parts of the Fantawild theme parks began opening in April. With over 30 locations primarily in China, Fantawild has a pretty massive reach, and the way they conduct their reopening could show some indication of what is possible for Disney parks. ©Fantawild Fantawild has chosen to cap total daily attendance at 50% of maximum capacity and to limit the number of people within the park at any given time to 30% of maximum capacity. To garner entry into the park, guests need to make an advance appointment online where they will be issued an assigned entry time that is staggered with other guests to control capacity. ©Fantawild Once at the parks, guests must wear face masks, participate in touchless temperature checks, and remain 1 meter apart from one another. It’s unclear how Fantawild is enforcing this and what happens to guests who don’t comply! Beyond that, there are significant cleaning protocols that have been introduced. Cleaning personnel use disinfectant frequently to sanitize all public areas and employees disinfect seats, armrests, and 3D glasses after each use for indoor attractions. In the restaurants of Fantawild parks, all utensils are disposable and tables have been spaced out to promote distancing. ©Fantawild We have been curious to see how Disney will handle distancing measures on attractions, so it’s of note that Fantawild parks ARE staggering seating on rides. All seats immediately beside and behind every guest remain empty, leaving attractions operating at 50% capacity. Click here to learn when Disney Shanghai is set to reopen! Holiday World Large-scale theme park companies aren’t the only ones that may have telling policies that we can apply to Disney. Holiday World, a theme park in Santa Claus, Indiana (yes, really!), is a small family-fun amusement park that has made some waves for being one of the first theme parks in the US to announce an official opening date. If all goes to plan, Holiday World will open its gates on June 14th in line with the Indiana state government’s plans. ©Holiday World Holiday World has yet to release full guidelines as to how guests can expect the park to be different, though they did mention readily-available hand-sanitizer, regular sanitization of rides, and potentially limited park attendance. ©Holiday World What’s especially noteworthy about Holiday World, though, is that June 14th opening date. That gives us a window of the earlier days that theme parks could potentially begin to open in the United States. This could be telling for Disney parks, especially as a Senior VP for Disney World mentioned that just because they’re taking June 1st reservations, doesn’t mean that they’ll be open by then. San Diego Theme Parks Now, as we mentioned above, the Reopen California plan suggests that theme parks will reopen in Phase 4 of the plan, which could be months away. However, San Diego theme parks including Legoland, Sea World, San Diego Zoo & Safari Park, and the USS Midway, have managed to craft procedures that will allow them to open in Phase 3 of the plan — still a while away, but still sooner than Phase 4. ©San Diego Zoo According to the Orange County Register, the coalition of San Diego theme parks has agreed on an extensive list of protocols that takes them from Phase 4 up into Phase 3. Some of these measures include health screening, distancing, sanitization and disinfection protocols, signage and communication, food & beverage measures, and water park protocols. ©Legoland Now, what this implies is that Disneyland could possibly take actions that would allow them to open earlier in the scope of the Governor’s plans if they chose to pursue that course. Governor Newsom did not specifically mention theme parks in the phases, so it’s possible Disney could have a bit of flexibility. If Disney employs enough health measures in their parks, they may be able to open in the penultimate phase of the plan instead of having to wait until all sanctions are lifted. But this hasn’t been mentioned publicly by any Disney representative. Want to know the most recent developments of the Reopen California plan? Click here! So When Will Disney Parks in the U.S. Reopen? The big question is still when it is that the domestic parks will reopen. There is still little visibility about this. With Shanghai Disneyland’s reopening we can see potential domestic park policies. And Disney’s Chief Medical Officer gave some insight into what the parks are considering, like virtual queues, distancing measures, and capacity limits. Epcot But though Disney World is currently taking reservations for June 1st at its resort hotels, we still don’t have a confirmed reopening date. Regardless, Disney execs have assured that the parks will open again — we just have to wait until it is safe for them to do so. In the meantime, we’ll be keeping a close eye on any news of what health measures Disney will be using in the parks. They’ve even already started suggesting some steps they could take! Until we know the official Disney parks reopening dates, stay safe! Click here to read about how Disney may use virtual queues in the reopened parks!
