We might be stuck at home, but we’re taking ya with us on a virtual trip to the Caribbean (cost free )! Banana Cabana Pool Bar Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort finished a BIG multi-year renovation a few years back AND the Skyliner Gondola System was added as a direct transportation line to the hotel. This helped the resort garner a lot more attention from guests, including us! So, as a little get-away, we’re taking you with us to Barefoot Bay to kick back and relax in the recently redesigned rooms at Caribbean Beach! In 2015, the standard rooms were changed from their previous appearance to a more modern look. On top of updating other spots around the resort, like a new lobby and the addition of a new Joffrey’s Coffee, the refurbished rooms were meant to breathe some life back into Disney’s Caribbean Beach. Joffrey’s Coffee and Tea at Caribbean Beach The hotel was looking a little rough compared to the other Disney World resorts, so the renovation pulled out ALL the stops to give the atmosphere some much-needed changes and updates. We’re talking about a fresh take on restaurants, pool bars, and a design that helps you really feel like you’re in paradise. Centertown Market While we can’t visit in person right now, we’re still taking you with us on a tour of one of the recently redesigned rooms to make you feel right at home at the resort! When you enter your room, you’re transported to a beach-y Caribbean atmosphere with rattan-feel accents atop beige walls. A terra cotta-colored square patterned carpet matches the walls and looks kind of like sand (except you’ll have to go outside to build a sandcastle ). Entrance to the Room Plus, just LOOK at those coral curtains!! They’re just as fun and bright as the Caribbean itself. You can also sit on updated contemporary blue furniture that reminds us of the beautiful ocean water surrounding the islands… Curtains …while you get a lovely breeze from the A/C vent next to it. A/C Vent But, you can set your little oasis to whatever temperature you want (we like to keep it COLD!). Thermostat The TV stand has a simpler design with the brown wood and rattan looking fronts similar door design. It has a small coffee maker with a stash of Joffrey’s Coffee packets, tea… TV Stand …and a bright green ice container that adds a pop of color to the room! Ice Tray Just below, you can also pull open the front of the TV stand to find a mini fridge… Fridge …so you can store all the goodies that you buy in the parks to enjoy as a late-night snack later! Note that there’s nothing that even pretends to be a freezer area in here, just FYI. Fridge Shelves While the beds previously has floral covers, the standard room has been updated with a sleeker (read: plain) bed design. Rest Your Weary Feet!! A dark carved headboard and a light fixture sit directly above it. Doesn’t the colorful light fixture look FUN?! Headboard and Light Fixture But note that the light fixture is your only “bedside light,” so if you have little ones who go to sleep before you do, remember to bring these little beauties. Each room is equipped with a standard Disney room phone with direct access to everything you could need while there (don’t forget to set a wakeup call from Mickey!). Room Service, Anyone? While the room has a sleeker look with less theming, you can still spot some artwork with a colorful picture of a Caribbean island. It kind of looks like Neverland to us, don’t you think?? Below it is where you can set up your suitcase! Before you leave the bedroom to go into the vanity area, you can close the wooden bathroom dividers behind you (for some privacy away from the kiddos)… Will This Become Your New “Clothes” Chair? …before getting yourself ready for the day or night! The darker bathroom vanities from before have been exchanged for a brighter version with light-colored tops, double sinks, and orange fronts. The bathroom tile has also been switched from a more rustic design to a smoother pale version. Vanity Area You can use some of the H20 products available… H20 Products …iron out your outfits for the week… Ironing Board …and hang up any clothes or jackets! Hangers The bathroom is classy with a streamlined design and a SUPER CUTE shower curtain with tropical blue colors and orange feather (maybe Orange Bird paid a visit?). The neutral colors accented with the bright pop of color looks great, doesn’t it? You also have a full-length mirror on the door here. Look at That Snazzy Curtain! You can hop in the shower or take a nice bath… Bathtub and Shower …using the newer shampoo, conditioner, and body wash canisters that have started to be put in the resorts. Shower Canisters Just like any of the Disney Resorts, there are pros and cons to staying in the refurbished standard rooms at Caribbean Beach. With all the renovations, there are some great spots to grab a bite or a drink like Banana Cabana (we love chilling by the pool with a cocktail in hand!), dig into some seafood at Sebastian’s Bistro, or even snag a quick breakfast at Spyglass Grill. Sebastian’s Bistro The main pool is a wonderfully family-friendly spot with waterfalls, waterslides, water canons, and a children’s play area so you can take a break from park-hopping. It looks like taking a dip in a scene from Pirates of the Caribbean! Plus, there’s even a sandy beach close by at the resort!! Caribbean Beach Pirate Pool Caribbean Beach also has easy access to transportation with the bus system (which takes you anywhere in Disney World) and the Skyliner that directly connects to Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Riviera Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. The hub of the Skyliner system is housed at Caribbean Beach making it an ideal spot to access locations on the Skyliner routes. Caribbean Beach Resort Skyliner System Note if you’d like to request a room CLOSE to the Skyliner, request rooms in Barbados and Jamaica to be close to the Caribbean Beach Resort station, and rooms in Aruba to be close to the Riviera Resort Skyliner Station! Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort also has themed rooms like the Pirate Rooms, but they’re an added upgrade of almost $50 extra per night, like the Royal Rooms at Port Orleans Riverside. Pirate Room It’s worth noting that the guest rooms in two-story buildings at Caribbean Beach Resort do not have elevator access, so if you’re mobility impaired or will have a stroller with you, consider requesting a first-floor room to avoid the stairs. If you’ve ever been to Caribbean Beach, you’ll also know that it’s a HUGE resort. It can take a good bit of time to walk across the resort or to common areas. And there is an internal bus loop, which can add time on to your commute to the parks. Caribbean Beach Resort views from the Skyliner and the Riviera Resort in the Distance In fact, some sections like Aruba and Martinique are actually situated closer to Disney’s Riviera Resort, and like we said, it might be more feasible to walk to THAT resort for food or Skyliner access. The Martinique and Barbados sections are closest to Old Port Royale (the main building housing Caribbean Beach’s amenities), and the Jamaica section is closest to the Skyliner Hub. We really recommend closely checking the maps of the resort beforehand to figure out which section makes the most sense for your group to stay in. Caribbean Beach Skyliner Station Regardless of the pros and cons of the resort itself, the updated standard rooms are very streamlined and appear more spacious than before. But, we definitely miss some of the theming and use of color!! Go on a tour with us of the renovated Animal Kingdom Lodge rooms here! Have you stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort before? Disneyland Resort remains closed until further notice in response to the current global situation. Looking forward, though, guests are currently able to make reservations for Disneyland Resort as bookings for future vacations are currently being accepted for dates starting July 1st. River Belle Terrace in Disneyland That said, we are keeping an eye on other areas of the Disneyland website including Advance Dining Reservations for restaurants around the Resort. And — at press time — the Disneyland website is showing no times available to book dining in July. Until last week, we were able to book dining in July without a problem. But for the last several days we’ve not been able to book any reservations for July. New Orleans Square in Disneyland For instance, here is a screenshot for an attempted — but unavailable — reservation for Café Orleans. Café Orleans reservations screenshot And here is another for Naples Ristorante in Downtown Disney. Naples Ristorante reservations screenshot Do note, though, that we ARE still able to see hotel availability for July. So, is the unavailability for dining reservations a glitch, or is it intentional? As we research this developing story, we’ll be keeping you updated. In the meantime, you can find out more about the current status of Disney Resorts around the world by clicking here or visiting any of our links below. It’s been a while since we’ve checked in on the renovated McDonald’s location at Disney World! So, we thought it would be great to check-in on the construction progress today! McDonald’s Construction Back in January And as of today, it looks like the construction has come a long way! Check out how the new Mickey D’s is stylin’ and profilin’ now! As you’ll remember, the old McDonald’s closed back in October of 2019 and was completely demolished to make way a big, shiny new restaurant! It looks like the new McDonald’s has really taken shape while we’ve been away! In fact, the building resembles a giant “M!” McDonald’s Construction (Present Day) The golden arches are finally up making this ultra-modern building instantly recognizable as a McDonald’s restaurant — albeit a very classy and sleek-looking one! It even appears to have a “living wall” comprised of plants on the side of its entrance which is very en vogue at the moment! McDonald’s Construction (Present Day) The new McDonalds was originally scheduled to be done by March of this year. While it is not open due to the closures, construction has certainly come a long way! We can’t wait to see what it looks like inside. We have been keeping track of all of the restaurants that will be welcoming guests in Walt Disney World’s Disney Springs when the shopping and dining district begins its phased reopening on May 20th. City Works Outdoor Bar in Disney Springs And though City Works Eatery & Pour House has not announced an official reopening date just yet, the location — which just hit the Disney Springs dining scene in February — is providing a peek at what we can look forward to when the sports bar and restaurant welcomes guests again! City Works shares — via Instagram — that they are planning their return with NEW menu items, including a Rigatoni dish of Italian sausage, roma tomatoes, basil, peas, goat cheese, tomato cream and rigatoni. ©City Works US Noting that it was “an old favorite” at some of their other locations, they’ve decided to bring it back to all City Works locations! (It’s also noted that a gluten free pasta will be available upon request.) See our review of City Works Eatery & Pour House in Disney Springs here! City Works invites you to “stay tuned” for reopening dates for their locations! And while we await an official announcement, you should know that City Works Eatery & Pour House is one of several Disney Springs locations that are currently accepting Advance Dining Reservations starting June 1, 2020, on the Walt Disney World website or the My Disney Experience app. Find out more about restaurants in Disney Springs that are reopening soon with our updated list here! Mayor Buddy Dyer announced in a press conference yesterday that the city of Orlando’s Fourth of July fireworks display is being canceled this year. Epcot Forever Fireworks A pre-recorded version of Fireworks at the Fountain, the annual show held at Orlando’s Lake Eola Park, will be televised instead. “Based on everything that’s been happening with COVID-19, the City of Orlando in conjunction with our partner News 6 has decided to hold a virtual Fireworks at the Fountain this year rather than the real thing,” the Mayor said. “It’s a pretty easy decision really, I can’t imagine the CDC guidelines would suggest that we had a gathering of 120 to 150,000 people to watch fireworks in July, which is only about 60 days away I suppose.” Heavy Fireworks Crowds Now, when it comes to Disney fireworks, Shanghai Disneyland reopened on Monday with several modifications and new safety measures in place. We know that while testing was being performed on the park’s fireworks show prior to reopening, at this time no fireworks or parades have resumed in an effort to keep large crowds from gathering. Happily Ever After Currently, Disney World is accepting reservations beginning July 1st. But Thomas Mazloum, Disney World Senior Vice President, has shared that this does not mean that this is when the parks will reopen. Shanghai Disneyland Fireworks Testing As of right now, Disney World has not shared their specific plans for shows once the parks reopen. They have however stated that, “Upon reopening, theme parks, Disney Resort hotels, restaurants, attractions, experiences, and other offerings may be modified and will be limited in capacity and subject to limited availability or closure, based on direction from health experts and government officials to promote physical distancing.” We will continue to monitor the situation as it unfolds. Disney has shared information regarding a phased reopening, capacity limits, and virtual queues. Read all about that here. How are you planning to spend the 4th of July? Governments around the country are continuing to make decisions on when to stay closed and when to open up. Disneyland Main Entrance – Closed We’ve been keeping a close eye on the states that Disney parks are in and there have been some interesting developments. Despite California moving through their phased reopening plan, Los Angeles County (just next door to Disneyland’s Orange County) has stated that stay-at-home orders will likely be extended for the next three months. According to the LA Times, the Los Angeles County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer mentioned to a Board of Supervisors meeting that stay-at-home orders will be extended for the next three months “with all certainty.” Though this is not an official announcement or extension of the order, it seems likely that LA county will be staying home for a little bit longer. Disney California Adventure Main Entrance — Closed LA County is immediately next to Orange County, the home of Disneyland Resort. At this time Orange County has not shared information regarding a three-month extension. The neighboring county isn’t the only Disney-adjacent area making some long-term concessions. Also according to the LA Times, California State University (less than a 30-minute drive to Disneyland) is canceling most in-person classes for the fall semester to offer instruction online instead. Soarin’ Over California This decision comes in response to the fact that CSU is a place where 500,000 teachers, staff, and students gather in proximity. The administration just doesn’t think it is safe. In comparison, Disneyland Resort’s in-park capacity is below 100,000. We will be keeping our eye out for more information on Orange County and Disneyland’s decisions. Click here to learn more about California’s phased reopening plan. Oh, Disney snacks and drinks, how we miss you!! Mickey Pretzel Since the parks have been closed, we’ve been having some MAJOR withdrawal from all the amazing restaurants in Disney World. From simple Mickey Pretzels at the food carts to the HUGE Kitchen Sink at Beaches and Cream, Disney hands-down has some of the best treats to indulge in when you’re at the parks. Buuut, that doesn’t mean they’re all hits! There are still snack and drink flops, even in the Most Magical Place on Earth. Since menus switch things up so frequently, items come and go. And, while the eats and sips might be gone, they’re TOTALLY worth remembering as some of the biggest menu bombs in Disney World! Pop Tart Sandwich HEAR. US. OUT! Normally, something like this would be EVERYTHING to us. But the reason it bombed is NOT the one you THINK.. . Y’all, it doesn’t matter how old we get… Pop-Tarts are STILL our jam. Whether you toast them, eat them plain (does anyone else refer to them as “raw” this way like we do?!), or freeze them, the sweet pastries are a great way to start your day or a fantastic midnight snack. Even though we love Pop-Tarts, Disney’s Pop Century Resort rolled out a sandwich that was seriously so weird, we’re still not sure how to feel about it. Pop Tart Breakfast Sandwich The breakfast sammie had some pretty regular morning eats like egg, bacon, and cheese. But, the ringer was that they were layered between two frosted strawberry Pop-Tarts. Now we STAN an innovative food idea, so even though we were like whaaaaa?? we were still all in at this point. The sandwich was toasted so the strawberry filling melted onto the rest of the ingredients as you took each bite. Strangely enough, though, it wasn’t the Pop-Tart that we didn’t like in this morning snack. The frosting and filling actually added a sweet twist to the savory ingredients. Pop Tart Breakfast Sandwich — Up Close But the egg layered in between was like a flavorless patty instead of a fresh, fried egg. It had a slightly rubbery consistency, which did not fit with the yummy crunch of the bacon. Plus, this thing was a HOT MESS to try and eat! Each bite seemed to make the Pop-Tarts collapse even more into a sticky mess of crumbles. Pop Tart Breakfast Sandwich — Cross Section This was…UNIQUE! And like I said, we LOVE a creative food idea, so props to you Pop Century for adding yet another interesting idea to your men! But we couldn’t get past that crazy egg. Let’s try a diff Pop Tart sammie next time — there’s potential there! Read our full review of the unique Pop-Tart Sandwich here! Chicken Corn Dog Nuggets We are very, VERY big fans of Corn Dog Nuggets from Casey’s Corner (especially with lots and lots of plastic cheese!!). They’re practically a Magic Kingdom staple and a must-have if you’ve never grabbed them before. But, things went totally awry last year when the hot dogs in the counter-service’s famous snack were switched for chicken for a short time. Casey’s Corner Corn Dog Nuggets And, yes, it was just as weird as it sounds. The chicken flavor wasn’t horrible, but it was heavily overpowered by cornmeal so the flavors were off-balance. Plus, we don’t know about you, but biting into a yummy nugg and finding something white staring back at us instead of that familiar pink was…odd. Since there were a LOT of complaints about the change, the original Corn Dog Nuggs were soon reinstated (much to the relief of many fans). Corn Dog Nuggets But, even though the chicken version is gone, we will never forget that fateful day that our nuggets were changed… . Check out the Chicken Corn Dog Nuggets for yourself here! Tomato Plum Cocktail The Epcot Festival of the Arts is one of our FAVORITE times of the year with food, drinks, and events inspired by visual and performing arts! And, while we bring the Best of the Fest to you each year, last year’s festival had one of the WEIRDEST things we’ve had in Epcot. The Painted Panda in the China Pavilion had a Tomato Plum Cocktail as their signature sip that year, and BOY was it strange. Tomato Plum Cocktail The plum wine had plum infused tomatoes floating in the drink (we did NOT know how to feel about tomatoes bobbing in our drink!). It kind of tasted like a red jolly rancher will all the plum wine, but the tomatoes inside gave it a SUPER weird texture. The best way we can describe it is honestly like giant boba balls with slimy insides! Tomato Plum Cocktail Thankfully, it didn’t come back for the 2020 festival’s booth, and it was switched for the MUCH more satisfying Sea Butterfly instead. Sip the Tomato Plum Cocktail along with us at the Painted Panda! Beet Margarita La Cava del Tequila is a FANTASTIC spot to kick back and grab a few drinks while you are making your way around World Showcase. The bar in the Mexico Pavilion serves 100% agave tequila in its drinks and has even introduced sips made by celebrities like Neil Patrick Harris! Although we usually LOVE the cocktails we get at La Cava, (and the queso. Our hearts belong to their queso!) there’s one infamous drink that we are sooo glad has disappeared from the parks. Beet Margarita Back in 2016, the Beet Margarita (whose name should be just as daunting as it sounds) was introduced as a new drink on the menu. It was made with ginger liquor, fresh lime, agave nectar, agave tequila, and BEET JUICE. And while a hint of beet juice may have been fine for color, it tasted like you were literally drinking liquid beets. Poblano Pepper Salt Rim So, unless you’re Dwight Schrute, it was pretty unappealing to sip on compared to the other STUNNER margs and cocktails at La Cava. Other veggie margs have worked well (we’re looking at YOU Jalapeno and Avocado Margs) but we quickly shied away from the beet. Take a peek at the very unusual Beet Margarita here! Even though we weren’t the biggest fans of these eats and sips, there are SO many other amazing things to try in Disney World! But, some of the weirdest snacks can also be the best, so keep an open mind when it comes to tackling new things in the parks. You might find a REALLY unique new favorite!! We’ve got the BEST things to eat in Disney World during 2020 here! What are the worst snacks and drinks you’ve had in Disney World? Let us know in the comments below! Shanghai Disneyland reopened after its lengthy closure just this past Monday. However, all other Disney Parks around the world — including, of course, Walt Disney World and Disneyland — remain closed until further notice in light of the current global health situation. Shanghai Disneyland That said, Disney has shared some of the health and safety measures being considered for the eventual reopening of all the parks. One measure is limiting guest capacity in order to promote physical distancing. This has already been implemented with the reopening of Shanghai Disneyland, which — during this initial phase — is requiring the advance purchase of theme park tickets assigned to a date, as well as required reservations for Annual Passholders. And now we have learned of another theme park brand implementing required reservations for entry: Six Flags. None of the Six Flags theme parks — with locations throughout North America including, but not limited to, California, Illinois, New York, Texas, and beyond — have an official reopening date set at press time. ©Six Flags However, the Six Flags website is already preparing guests for their eventual return with information regarding the new Guest Reservation System that will be implemented upon the parks’ reopening. (Note that reservations are not currently being accepted.) Six Flags website screenshot As seen in the screenshot above, Six Flags shares: “To facilitate limited occupancy scenarios and avoid guest disappointment at the front gate we are, for the time being, planning to require all guests to make an advance reservation prior to their arrival at the park. The reservation process is quick, easy, and will provide a safer, more fun experience for everyone.” The page also states that guests will be required to select not only the date they wish to visit, but also the time as based on availability. Guests will only be permitted to enter during the time period they selected when making the reservation. Six Flags website screenshot Six Flags has also provided a list of FAQs including topics such as cancellation of reservations (noting no penalties for canceling any time before 8:00 AM local time on their scheduled day), required pre-payment for parking, and more, including a section detailing how the process will work. Six Flags website screenshot Additional information is also provided for Six Flags Members and Annual Passholders. You can read about the Reservation System and see the FAQs in full by visiting sixflags.com/reserve. With the Disney Parks closed around the world, Disney+ has been our go-to while we’ve been staying at home (with lots of popcorn included, of course). AMC Theater in Disney Springs Now that Disney owns 20th Century Studios and Searchlight Pictures, there are a BUNCH of movies coming soon from outside of the Walt Disney Studios, as well as tons of updates to schedules for Disney’s upcoming slate of Marvel, animated, and live-action films. We’re here to give you the ultimate list of when all the MUST-SEE films are coming to theaters in 2021! Maybe you can make a few cocktails inspired by your favorite films and snacks to go with them to prepare for all the new releases!! Before we dive into 2021 releases, let’s take a look at what Disney-owned movies are coming out this year! Mulan Just a little bit longer, friends!! We’ve been waiting to see Mulan’s journey as a part of the Imperial Chinese Army since the movie was moved from March 27th to July 24th of this year. ©Disney We can’t wait to see our favorite warrior bring honor to us all on the big screen! Empty Man On August 7th, you’ll be able to watch the supernatural horror story of The Empty Man. ©20th Century Studios This story follows an ex-cop that makes a discovery that changes his life forever. The One and Only Ivan Based on Katherine Applegate’s book of the same name, The One and Only Ivan will follow the story of a gorilla who befriends a baby elephant when it premieres on August 14th. ©Disney He realizes that he wants life outside his glass cage and dreams about being in the wild where he came from. The Beatles: Get Back We’re ready to “Twist and Shout” when the new The Beatles documentary (ROCK-umentary?) directed by Peter Jackson comes to theaters on September 4th. ©The Beatles It will show studio footage from 1969 and 1970 of the band, including some never before seen clips. The King’s Man Heads up, fans of the Kingsman series! ©20th Century Studios The King’s Man will be the third movie in the series, and this prequel will debut on September 18th. Death on the Nile If you enjoyed Murder on the Orient Express, you’ll love this next movie based on Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile. ©20th Century Studios Will you be able to guess whodunnit on October 9th?? The French Dispatch Wes Anderson’s newest movie will bring together stories from a group of journalists that work for an American-made magazine located in France. ©Searchlight Pictures While the movie was originally supposed to come to theaters on July 24th, it was bumped to October 16th instead. Everybody’s Talking About Jamie Get ready to SING! ©20th Century Studios Everybody’s Talking About Jamie will be a musical spectacular about an English teen who dreams of being a drag queen when it premieres on October 23rd. Black Widow We’ve been ANXIOUSLY waiting for more of Nat’s story since Avengers: Endgame (what is the Budapest story?!). Although the movie was moved from April 24th to November 6th, you’ll be able to learn about Black Widow’s origins in the prequel film! ©Walt Disney Studios This film will officially kick off the fourth chapter of the MCU. We’ve got a few other Marvel flicks moved to next year coming up on the list that will follow Black Widow! Deep Water Based on Patricia Highsmith’s novel, Deep Water will follow a rocky relationship between a husband and a wife on November 13th in theaters. ©20th Century Studios This is a dark tale of a husband and wife that leads to murder! Soul On a MUCH lighter note, ever wondered how your soul is made? The newest Pixar movie will answer the question of what it means to be human when it premieres on November 20th instead of June 19th. ©Walt Disney Studios/Pixar Plus, TINA FEY is in it, you guys!! Free Guy On December 11th, you can go on an interesting adventure as Guy the bank teller finds out that he’s a background character in a video game. ©20th Century Studios Instead of sitting idly by, he decides to confront the game’s inventor and prevent the game from being shut down. West Side Story The hit musical West Side Story has been beloved by many for generations. ©20th Century Studios You can watch the Jets and Sharks battle it out once again when the new adaptation of the show premieres on December 18th. The Last Duel If you love knights and epic battles, then we’ve got a flick for you! The Last Duel featuring King Charles VI and Jean de Carrouges the knight when the movie comes to the big screen on December 25th. ©20th Century Studios The New Mutants Finally, this last flick actually doesn’t HAVE a concrete release date yet — it’s still tentatively listed as 2020. The New Mutants will be a new chapter in the X-Men films (and yep, technically part of the MCU!). The New Mutants ©20th Century Studios The director stated in March that the film is totally completed, so they’re just waiting to announce a good release date! Now, let’s get to the 2022 films, shall we?? Disney While we were at the Walt Disney Studios Panel during D23 last August, we got a sneak peek of SO many new movies (even an early look at Dark Rey from The Rise of Skywalker). While many of the movie schedules of the films being released over the next few years have been moved around, we’re still wayyy excited to see some of live-action, animation, and musical events coming to the big screen. ©Walt Disney Studios Jungle Cruise Although Jungle Cruise has been moved from July 24th, 2020 to July 30th, 2021, the movie based on the hit parks’ attractions will take you on “the adventure of a lifetime” aboard the La Quila. ©Disney Don’t worry — it looks like you will still get to spot the backside of water! Cruella If she doesn’t scare you, the new Cruella film will (or not)! ©Walt Disney Studios The movie will tell the backstory of the famous villain during the 1970s in London with a pop-rock soundtrack when it comes to theaters on May 28th, 2021. Raya and the Last Dragon We’re traveling to the land of Kumandra, inspired by Southeast Asia’s culture, to see some dragons!! Raya and the Last Dragon will follow Raya as she finds a way to reclaim Sisu the dragon’s powers alongside a band of misfits so her home can be protected by dragons again. ©Disney While this Disney Animation film was originally slated for November 25th, 2020, it’s been bumped to March 12th, 2021. Hamilton Although the hit Broadway show Hamilton isn’t a Disney musical, Disney will be putting the pro-shot version of the show with its original cast up on the big screen on October 15th (look around at how lucky we are to be alive right now!!). Avatar Sequel It took over a decade, but soon you can catch the sequel to Avatar making its way to the big screen. Pandora Although the movie was originally supposed to come out winter of this year, it’s been pushed to December 17th, 2021. Marvel Honestly, we are so excited about Avengers Campus coming to Disney California Adventure with foot-long candy bars, all the Marvel characters you can imagine, and AWESOME ride technology. ©Disney It has us even more excited for the rest of Phase Four in the Marvel universe!! Spider-Man 3 Now that Disney and Sony have settled their differences, Spider-Man 3 will be swinging into theaters on November 5th, 2021 instead of its original July 2021 release. Spider-man: Far From Home ©Disney ©Sony We’re happy to get to see another Tom Holland Spider-Man film in the MCU! Eternals Eternals is bringing us an entire group of new superheroes that promises to rock your socks off! ©Walt Disney Studios Although it was originally going to premiere November 6th, 2020, the film will now be debuting on February 12th, 2021. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings On top of all the other Marvel films planned over the next few years, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will showcase a multi-talented hero on May 7th, 2021. ©Disney/Marvel It was previously slated to hit theaters on February 12th, 2021. 20th Century Studios After Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, they switched the name around so it was a little more brand-friendly. Ron’s Gone Wrong Along with the other 20th Century Studios films whose schedules have been moved, Ron’s Gone Wrong will be coming to theaters on February 26th, 2021. Bob’s Burgers the Movie Bob’s Burgers the Movie will be coming to theaters on April 9th, 2021 instead of July 17th, 2020. ©Disney We cannot wait to see all of these movies on the big screen! Usually when I’m taking photos around Disneyland park, I keep my lens focused “inside the berm,” as we say around here, which means everything that’s inside the wooden berm that surrounds the park. On occasion, though, our guest experiences – particularly the taller ones – give a glimpse beyond the berm, yet they still blend seamlessly with the natural wonders around us here in Southern California. In February 2019, after a heavy rain at Disneyland Resort and snowstorm in the San Gabriel Mountains (about 50 miles from here), I thought it might be neat to see what Matterhorn Bobsleds looks like against the San Gabriels. I determined that my best chance to get the picture was from a Pixar Pal-A-Round gondola all the way over at Disney California Adventure park. A 400mm lens compressed the distance between the attraction and San Gabriels nicely. My focus point was Matterhorn Bobsleds, so while this picture shows a world beyond the berm, it’s still grounded in Walt Disney’s Fantasyland. If you didn’t know better, you may not even realize this is a photo of Disneyland! This is just one of many #DisneyMagicMoments I’ve had in my career photographing The Happiest Place on Earth. Experts might know their way around Disney World a little better than your average park guest, but that doesn’t mean they don’t run into their fair share of problems! Hello from the Magic Kingdom! Speaking from experience, we still encounter SEVERAL issues at the parks, and we’re here all the time! But luckily, we know how to deal with these situations when they inevitably occur! That’s why we’ve put together some of our best advice just in case you run into any of these common problems on your next trip to Disney! All the Best FastPasses Are ALREADY Booked Up Annual Passholders or folks who are planning a quick trip to Disney World often miss out on FastPasses for popular rides such as Pandora’s Flight of Passage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom or Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom. These attractions tend to book up months in advance! Even with the best planning, sometimes those FastPasses for popular rides seem to vanish into thin air! Animal Kingdom’s Pandora So what do you do if you still want to get your banshee flight on, but there are no FastPasses available? Luckily, it’s not totally impossible to snag a FastPass on the fly for some of these rides — especially if you keep checking your My Disney Experience app with diligence. ©My Disney Experience Sometimes guests run late to their FastPasses because they’re busy enjoying a meal or have a change of heart, and when they cancel these FastPasses, you or some other lucky person can be the first to swoop down and get ‘em! Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Sign It’s not always possible, but it’s definitely worth a shot! And this is also a good reminder to always do your fellow man the favor of canceling any FastPasses you won’t be using so someone else can pick them up! Slinky Dog Dash Forewarning, this gets harder to manage the larger your group is, so if you’re not having luck looking for a party of six, maybe try one or two. For some families, it’s better for SOME of your group to experience a sought-after ride than NONE of your group. And remember — if you want to avoid being glued to My Disney Experience, you can always rope drop the park (meaning getting there right at or before a park opens in the morning) and hop in line for popular rides you didn’t get a FastPass for while the line is still relatively short! Not Getting the Dining Reservations You Really Wanted Just like those super hard-to-score FastPasses, sometimes your favorite Disney World restaurant is also a lot of OTHER people’s favorite, too! Be Our Guest Restaurant Read our review of the prix-fixe dinner at Be Our Guest Restaurant here! But just like those highly-prized FastPasses, you might catch a lucky break! Dining reservations sometimes pop up last-minute and you might be able to book a popular spot on the day-of, even if it was booked solid months prior! Again, you’ll have to keep refreshing your My Disney Experience app and you’ll probably have to be pretty open to whatever times are available. ‘Ohana Check out our review of ‘Ohana’s character breakfast here! We find that usually starting a week out from when you’re looking to eat, guests will often begin to drop dining reservations they no longer want (some may do it sooner or later too!). The day before (so outside that 24-hour cancellation window where guests will be charged $10 per person to cancel) can also be a good time to find dropped reservations. On the day you’re looking to dine, you might have great luck too — it really is the luck of the draw! Breakfast at Cinderella’s Royal Table And if you can’t get a reservation no matter how hard you try, see if there are other options available at the restaurant you’re trying to get into. While you might have a tough time scoring a dinner reservation at Be Our Guest Restaurant, you might have better luck at breakfast or lunch! If you’re flexible, you stand a better shot at getting into a location you have your heart set on. Can’t Send or Receive Messages Disney World’s Wi-Fi can be a little spotty (ok, A LOT spotty!), so if you wanna stay semi-reachable at the parks consider upgrading your plan to 5G, if available. That way, you should have an easier time getting through to the outside world. We Use Our Phones ALL the Time in Disney World! Simply put, 5G is FASTER and more reliable. It doesn’t bog down the way 4G or other cell connections can, which is incredibly useful in the parks. For us, having 5G capability helps reduce some of the stress over having the Disney Wi-Fi drop out while we’re trying to reserve a Rise of the Resistance boarding group! We’re already anxious enough without any added phone drama! Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance 5G also works great for refreshing the My Disney Experience app! That way you can scan for those FastPasses or dining reservations super-quick and snatch them up before someone else does! Recently many buses at Disney World have been Wi-Fi enabled as well, which is super nice to use while you’re on the way to the park (but again, not always the most reliable)! So consider checking with your phone provider to see if this is an option for you before you go. Battery-Life is Critically Low Another phone drama we often encounter is the dreaded DEAD battery! We drain our batteries all the time because of how many photos we’re taking or opening up the My Disney Experience app to look for those FastPasses to magically appear! Magic Kingdom That’s why we definitely recommend bringing a rechargeable back-up battery. It’s way more convenient than bringing a charging cable and finding somewhere to plug in your phone (and having to wait!). Instead of being glued to the outlet while your device charges, you can charge on the go! Tree of Life Garden You can buy a portable battery ahead of time or pick one up at the parks. Disney World sells a brand called FuelRod which you can also find in some malls or airports (sometimes for slightly cheaper than at Disney World!). FuelRods are especially handy because after you pay for one, you can keep swapping them out for free each time you need a fresh battery (this temporarily changed last year but thankfully was reversed to remain free!). FuelRod Station FuelRod Power Stations are usually at the gift shops in the very front of the parks, so it’s always a good idea to buy them there or swap them out before you start your day! You don’t want to be in the waaaay back of the park when your battery finally decides to go kaput! Click here to see other ways to get your phone a charge while in the parks! Getting Stuck at Disney World Being trapped at the Most Magical Place on Earth doesn’t sound that bad until it happens to you! Then it can be really frustrating trying to figure out how to get back home if all the flights are canceled due to blizzards in the winter (up north — Florida isn’t necessarily known for its blizzards! ) or tropical storms during hurricane season! Magic Kingdom on a Rainy Day Florida’s hurricane season might be extra active this year! Read more details here! Not to mention you might have to make arrangements to stay another night or two. We’ve even had our flight canceled after we’ve already checked in at the airport when bad weather strikes! Magic Kingdom Our advice is to set up your phone to receive flight alerts and keep tabs on the weather, both back at home as well as at Disney World. Some airlines might let you switch your flights in advance if bad weather is expected — the more advance notice you have, the better. Disney Springs Balloon Tied Down For an Incoming Storm If you know before you head to the airport that you might need to plan on staying at Disney World for another day, you’ll save yourself a lot of time and aggravation. Your Disney World hotel will be happy to arrange for you to stay another night — or if there isn’t a room, they’ll help find you a different resort with availability and get you moved over. Walt Disney World Hurricane Clouds Here’s what you’ll need to know if a hurricane threatens Disney World! If you need to leave Disney World early because a hurricane is coming, ask the front desk about a refund for any partially used park tickets. And while Disney World does have a hurricane policy, they do not have a winter storm policy, so consider purchasing trip insurance if you’ll traveling during those cooler months and your home area is known to receive snow. Mickey Balloons As magical as Disney World is, sometimes it doesn’t go all as planned. But if you keep a level head and work around the problems, you can still make the most of it and have a great time. We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that your next Disney World trip goes off without a hitch, but now that you know what the experts know, we bet you’ll be tackling these problems like a pro from here on out!
