We’ve got the tips you need to make wearing a face mask in Disney World more comfortable! Magic Kingdom With the reopening of locations like Shanghai Disneyland, Disney Springs, and Universal Orlando CityWalk, it’s become a common practice to require guests to wear masks. And since this is new for many Disney guests (including us!) the new accessory might take some getting used to. Here are the top tips our team has picked up from exploring the newly reopened locations in our masks! Bring Lip Balm! One unexpected consequence of wearing a mask — our lips got super chapped! We found that having lip balm on hand was a real lifesaver for us. Be sure to throw this in your park bag even if it’s not normally on your list! Face Mask If you happen to forget lip balm on your trip, you can check for it in the hotel gift shop — or place an order to be delivered to your hotel! Click here to learn more about getting packages delivered to your Disney World Hotel! Protect Your Ears! In our experience, we’ve found it’s way more comfortable to secure our mask around our head instead of behind our ears. But since most masks are designed with ear loops to keep them in place, we’ve had to get creative! Try investing in an ear saver that will allow you to hook the mask behind your head and take the pressure off of those poor ears! Vera Bradley Face Masks Using one of these handy tools allowed us to safely modify our standard masks to make them more comfortable! You might not think THIS is important on your Disney World vacation… But it is! If You Have Long Hair, Wear It Up! This tip has helped us on a few levels. First, with the straps and ear savers on our masks, wearing our hair up reduced the amount of tangling. And, since the mask has made the shopping experience a bit hotter, having our hair off of our neck has helped us stay cool! Cast Member with required face mask Whether you prefer a soft hair tie, or a sturdy coil design, as long as you have something to keep your hair out of the way of your mask (and the back of your neck!) you should be set. Check out our tips for beating the heat in Disney World! Don’t Forget to Wear Sunscreen! Just because your mask will cover part of your face doesn’t mean you can skip the sunscreen! Be sure to apply sunscreen to your face, shoulders, arms, legs — any exposed skin! Wearing sunscreen will also help reduce the potential “face mask tan” you could end up with if you have extended exposure to the sun (this one is “sweat proof”). Don’t forget your sunscreen! We’ve seen sunscreen for sale in the parks before, but we recommend bringing your own to make sure you’re prepared and have your preferred brand (this one comes in a non greasy stick so you can apply easily). Check out our ultimate Disney World packing list! Bring a Personal Fan! It’s no secret that Disney World can get pretty hot, and wearing a mask can make you feel a little bit warmer. So, it’s more helpful than ever to carry a personal fan with you in the park! Having some extra airflow from a handheld fan can make a huge difference. And while there are some battery powered versions, we’ve also found rechargeable fans which means more space in our suitcase! Cooling Fans This is another product you might be able to find around Disney Springs if you’re in a pinch. But bringing your own will probably be cheaper — and that way you won’t have to sweat it out until you can find one! Here are some things we learned the hard way from our Disney World disasters! Buy Your Child a Mask That Fits Well! While children under the age of three are exempt from wearing masks in Disney Springs and CityWalk, everyone aged three and older is required to wear a face covering. And it can definitely be difficult to encourage the kiddos to keep the masks on! But one thing that does help is to make sure you buy a mask designed for children — that way the fit is designed for them and it will be both more comfortable and more effective. Disney-themed Cloth Face Masks ©Disney Plus, if your child has a face mask with a cool design that they enjoy, it can become more of a fun experience and encourage them to stick with it! Here are the cutest Disney-themed face masks we’ve found! Avoid Wearing Glasses if Possible! Wearing a face covering can cause glasses to fog up pretty quickly. So, if you need corrective lenses and you also have contacts available, we suggest opting for the contacts so you don’t have to deal with the fogging effect with your glasses! Heart-Shaped Sunglasses Of course, sometimes glasses are unavoidable. Whether they’re corrective lenses or sunglasses! If you do need to wear glasses on your visit, be prepared for the fogging and be sure to pack a microfiber cloth to wipe down your lenses regularly. Planing a Disney World vacation? Here are some things you might be forgetting. It’s definitely been an adjustment for us to get used to wearing a mask around Disney property. But we’ve these tips to make the experience much more comfortable! Be sure to keep these things in mind when wearing a face covering around Disney World to make things easier for yourself and the rest of your family! Shanghai Disneyland has been re-opened for almost two weeks (can you believe it??). ©Disney While the hotels and parks have been welcoming guests again, Shanghai Disneyland has implemented multiple health and safety protocols to keep guests and Cast Members safe — including Health QR Codes, physical distancing, mask requirements, and more. However, when the parks re-opened, there were a limited amount of attractions available to guests. Shanghai Disneyland Parades and fireworks have been halted for the time being, along with play areas and theater shows. However, Shanghai Disneyland has still brought magic to the guests with the Mickey and Friends Express character processional several times during the day. They have also managed to promote social distancing while hosting the Evening Magical Moments — which lights up the Enchanted Storybook Castle and plays music at dusk daily. ©Disney But, since the parks have been open for a few weeks now, Shanghai Disneyland has started to slowly reopen other guest experiences. Although the park announced that they would be doing distanced character shows and entertainment, @gourmetdyy has been giving us a look at things available in Shanghai Disneyland currently! Alice in Wonderland Maze at Shanghai Disneyland Custodians at Shanghai Disneyland are bringing joy to guests through their water art, incredibly detailed paintings, and much more! While Disney World and Disneyland may not be open open yet, Shanghai Disneyland’s health and safety protocols have allowed them to already progress their reopening in under two weeks. At this time, the only Disney attraction open in the U.S. is Disney Springs, but Disney World is set to propose a reopening date by next week. We will continue to keep you updated on Disney Parks news here! Check out all the ways Shanghai Disneyland’s opening may predict what Disneyland and Disney World will look like! Although Disney World began a phased reopening with Disney Springs, Disneyland still hasn’t released a statement about when it plans to start reopening the Downtown Disney or the parks. An empty Downtown Disney While there are currently no reservations available at Disneyland Resort until July 1st, Disneyland may be one small step closer to its own phased reopening plans with California’s recent announcement. Since Orange County has met the required criteria, the surrounding area has been approved to transition into Stage 2 of California’s reopening plan, according to the Orange County Register. Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle This will allow for “in-person dining reservations, retail shopping with social distancing and curbside pickup, manufacturing, offices when telework isn’t possible, outdoor museums, and other limited services.” Marcelines Confectionery Orange County Vice President, Andrew Do, stated that they will “ensure that [reopening is] done in a safe manner” with “proper guidance, documentation, and safety precautions” to make sure that everyone is kept safe. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland The Health Care Agency has also set up guidelines for businesses to reopen, detailing that locations should: Perform a detailed risk assessment and implement a site-specific protection plan. Train employees on how to limit the spread of COVID-19, including how to screen themselves for symptoms and stay home if they have them. Implement individual control measures and screenings. Implement disinfecting protocols. Implement physical distancing guidelines. You can take a look at Orange County’s full announcement here. Each Disney snack has a special place in our hearts, buuuut you voted and ranked Dole Whip at the top of your lists! Pineapple Dole Whip Although we could eat three of them in the parks AND you can even make them at home from scratch, Dole Whips tend to see new twists throughout our time Disney. We’ve seen the Kakamora Float, lime Dole Whip, and even a Tajin Dole Whip (Spicy pineapple, anyone??). But, we spotted a new Dole Whip trend at a restaurant by our houses. Whether Taco Bell is your go-to spot for a late night snack or you’re a MEGA Quesarito fan, you’re going to want to hop in your car and go there ASAP. While Taco Bell has rolled out the Pineapple Freeze Slush, now they’re mixing up the Pineapple Swirl Freeze Slush (AKA a Dole Whip Slushy). Pineapple Whip Freeze And, of course, we had to put this new version to the test (we’ll have a Dole Whip in any capacity right now). The Pineapple Whip Freeze is mixed up with pineapple slush on top and condensed milk on the bottom. We found it is actually pretty similar in taste to a Dole Whip, but the texture might throw you off a bit. Dole Whip Slushy The slushy part has a bite to it similar to a Baja Blast. While it’s a bit sweeter than Disney’s Dole Whip, the texture of Taco Bell’s frozen slush isn’t quite as creamy as the Disney treat. Pro tip: if you mix up the slushy and condensed milk parts of the drink, it helps a bit to make it smoother (we had to pop off the top and really get in there to mix it well). But, you’ll need to give it a little stir between sips, because the parts started to settle and separate after a bit. Dole Whip Slushy Although it might not be what we normally would expect from a Dole Whip (but how do you beat Dole Whip??), Taco Bell’s Pineapple Swirl Freeze is a great option when you’re really missing the famous pineapple treat! And, running to Taco Bell to get one of these slushies is just another excuse to stock up on a bunch of tacos while you’re at it. Find out how YOU can conquer the ultimate Dole Whip Challenge when Disney World re-opens! What is your favorite kind of Dole Whip in the Disney Parks? Let us know in the comments below! The NBA has confirmed that they’re in talks with the Walt Disney Company to potentially finish their season in Orlando. ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex While the NBA season was previously suspended in response to health concerns, the league is now considering potential locations where they could finish the season at a single site. We previously reported that Disney World is a potential frontrunner, and the NBA has now confirmed that Disney is one of the locations being considered. The NBA is currently considering resuming its season in late-July at a single site. The league is in talks with the Walk Disney Company to potentially hold games at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, which is located on Disney World property in Orlando. ESPN Wide World of Sports Grill According to NBA spokesman Mike Bass, the conversations are still exploratory, but in this scenario, the site would be used for games, practices, and housing. This would eliminate the need for travel, thus reducing potential health concerns. Bob Iger also met with NBA owners earlier this year to discuss their plans for potentially resuming play. Disney Springs re-opened its third-party restaurants and stores, and we’ve been taking you all around property with us to get snacking! Buffalo Fries with Freaujolais We’ve visited one of the Happiest Restaurants on Earth (AKA Wine Bar George) to check out its new procedures AND stopped by its quick service spot, The Basket, to try one of their new Fries and Frozen drink pairings. But, if you think that our love for fries stopped there, think again! We are back for another round of the new fries that The Basket at Wine Bar George has recently rolled out. Each basket of fries is $8 and comes with an entire pound of crispy treats. Wine Bar George Menu So that means we totally ate three pounds of fries for breakfast — just to review them for you guys! ;D But, don’t worry — we used the plastic forks so our hands didn’t get too messy! Wine Bar George Fries We’re starting off with our favorite out of the three, because why not?? The Queso Fries (!!!) were loaded with queso and peppers so they’re the ultimate form of cheese fries. Queso Fries The queso was house-made with a blend of 4 different cheeses (the cheesier, the better). While the queso wasn’t that spicy, the peppers added a GREAT kick to each bite! While we could totally indulge in three pounds of the Queso Fries alone… Queso Fries …we’ve got more fries to review for you! The California Fries were made with avocado cream and bacon — and they were just as good as they sound. California Fries The avocado cream was lighter than the queso, so the dish wasn’t as heavy. But, there was still plenty of flavor from the sauce and the bacon bits. While some bacon tends to get a little too crispy on fries, the bacon on the California Fries was wonderful and added a hint of smokiness to the taste. California Fries Last, but not least, the Togarashi Fries were topped with sesame seeds and a chili sauce! Plus, there was a lime wedge so you could mix a little zest into the flavors. Togarashi Fries Although the first couple bites of the Togarashi Fries weren’t all that spicy, the kick snuck up on us as we were eating them! However, we do wish that there had been more chilis in the sauce to make the fries spicier. The sauce was just that awesome that we could have used more! Out of all three of the fry baskets we tried, the Togarashi Fries had the most flavors going on in the dish. Who knew that fries could be spicy and tangy? Togarashi Fries Wine Bar George, you’ve done it again! The fries in each of the baskets were super seasoned and salty (our favorite). And, since each basket comes with a pound of fries, you could definitely share these with a friend or family member. Or, you can treat yo’self, you know! Click here to check out which frozen drink Wine Bar George recommends pairing each of these fries with! What is your favorite thing to get at The Basket or Wine Bar George? Disney Springs began its phased reopening on May 20th to welcome guests back to its third-party restaurants and stores. Morimoto Asia Since there are plenty of new health and safety procedures in place across Disney Springs, restaurants are limiting capacity and implementing social distancing measures. And, while we gave you ALL the details on dining in Disney Springs, we’re back again for more food! But, this time, we’re heading to Morimoto Asia for some Japanese cuisine. Check In When you first arrive at the restaurant, there are is a line for guests with reservations to the left, with distancing stickers on the ground. Morimoto Asia Line And, there’s a separate line for drop-in guests to the right of the restaurant. Morimoto Asia Distancing Signs Atmosphere Every time we walk into Morimoto Asia, we can’t get over how BEAUTIFUL the atmosphere is! It feels like you’re walking into a magical fantasy with its string light chandeliers (which fit right into Disney World!). Morimoto Asia Although we noticed that the cocktail bar and sushi bar were both closed, you can still order both of them at your table! So, don’t worry — you can get that Sake with your meal! Morimoto Asia Sign Annnd, you’re going to want to pull out your phone to check the menu since Morimoto Asia is only using a QR menu for the time being. Morimoto Sign If you don’t have a compatible device, notify your servers and they will be able to assist you! But know that Morimoto Asia is operating with a limited menu, so your favorite meal might not be available at this time. Drinks As we were deciding what to get, our server told us that two new drinks were debuting at the restaurant! Forbidden Highball and Sparkling Belvedere The Sparkling Belvedere is Morimoto’s twist on a Cosmo made with belvedere vodka, yuzu, cranberry, and topped with sparkling rosé for $18. Just like a regular Cosmo, the Sparkling Belvedere was delicious and SUPER refreshing. But, the most unique part of the cocktail was the citrusy yuzu — which added some tartness to the otherwise sweeter flavors! Sparkling Belvedere The Forbidden Highball is a simple combination of Toki Japanese whiskey and soda water, but don’t be fooled — it packs a lot of flavor! We were actually surprised that the drink was made with whiskey since it is so light. Our server told us that Morimoto is actually one of the few restaurants in the United States that sells Toki. So, in order to make the Forbidden Highball, Morimoto had to get a special machine called the Toki Highball to mix the drink properly. Forbidden Highball You can grab the Forbidden Highball for $16! Eats After we ordered, we were given disposable plastic silverware and chopsticks to use. We started our meal off with the Cauliflower and Cheese Spring Rolls for $16, which actually surprised us by how much of a treat they are! Cauliflower Spring Rolls While most restaurants with Asian cuisine might leans towards a more traditional Spring Roll, Morimoto’s unique twist was extremely good with plenty of cheese packed into the flaky rolls. Inside the Cauliflower Spring Rolls The Cauliflower and Cheese Spring Rolls also came with a side of Buffalo Beer Cheese Sauce, which is SO GOOD. We won’t pass up an opportunity for some extra cheese with a spicy kick! Buffalo Beer Cheese Sauce After all that cheesy goodness, we decided to try the Buri Bop and Beef Lo Mein for our main courses. And, if you have never had Buri Bop, it’s basically a little show as it’s prepared in front of you for $36 ! Iron Chef Morimoto actually won Japan’s Iron Chef Competition with this recipe, so it’s one of the restaurant’s favorite things to serve up. (We stan an iconic dish!) Buri Bop Being Made! The chef started with raw Japanese yellowtail and a raw egg with rice and veggies (including chili curls that look BOMB). It was presented in a 550 degree hot bowl (!!!) and the chef seared the fish on it while he stirred the other ingredients and cooked the egg. Anybody Else Super Hungry Now?? If the show doesn’t sound interesting enough, the flavors of the dish were AH-MAZING. Even if you aren’t normally a fan of fish this Buri Bop might just change your mind! Yellowtail Fish The bowl was packed with flavors of ginger and soy in every bite of the yellowtail and rice. Since the Buri Bop sat in the hot dish, the rice at the bottom got all crispy, which was a great texture contrast to the other soft ingredients. Buri Bop And, believe it or not, our meal got even better since the Beef Lo Mein was also incredible! The dish was made with stir-fried noodles, beef tenderloin, napa cabbage, carrots, bean sprout, mushroom, and scallions for $25. Beef Lo Mein Although it may seem like a more typical meal to find at a restaurant like this, it was a stand-out against other lo meins that we’ve had! The beef tasted like very good quality and was cooked well. The flavors of the mushrooms and scallions added to the tender beef. Plus, that beef and veggie to noodle ratio was ON POINT, so you get enough of each part when you take each bite! Beef Lo Mein Noodles The only thing that could have made our meal better was dessert. BUT, Morimoto Asia isn’t serving dessert right now since the company that makes their ice cream hasn’t opened yet. Overall Morimoto Asia is one of those spots in Disney Springs that consistently serves up amazing food, even if you’re just trying the Street Food quick-stop outside! Morimoto Asia If you’re looking for a place to have traditional Japanese cuisine or try something new, check out Morimoto Asia the next time you’re in Disney Springs. Plus, that Buri Bop turned our dinner into dinner with a show! Check out what it is like to dine at other reopened restaurants in Disney Springs here! Have you eaten at Morimoto Asia before? While you may collect Minnie Ears, Disney memorabilia, or other things from the parks, some of us have an entire attic full of old toys (guilty). Coral Minnie Ears And, even though it might seem easy to sell them during a garage sale, you might want to double-check how much those toys are worth! Although it might feel like all your old Disney barbie playhouses and stuffed animals are simply nostalgic, some of them are worth a LOT of money nowadays! And, the next time you’re spring cleaning, you might want to check if you have these 6 valuable Disney items! Original Buzz and Woody Toys When Toy Story first came out, people were blown away by the CGI animation style that hadn’t been done before. Of course, we’ve come a VERY long way since then (you can literally see the fuzz on Mr. Incredible’s shirt in The Incredibles 2, you guys). Since the movie was such a hit, the toys practically flew off the shelves and to infinity and beyond. ©eBay But, if you just so happen to be one of the lucky people that owns the original toys, you might be able to make BANK. The original Buzz with a utility belt and Woody with dangly legs has recently sold for up to $130 for Woody and $300 for Buzz (!!!). ©eBay Do you know how many grilled cheeses and Lunch Box Tarts we could buy with that kind of money?! My Size Talking Ariel Doll Look at this stuff, isn’t it neat? Wouldn’t you like to make your collection complete? When I was a kid in the late 90s, I had some of those life-size talking Barbie dolls you could dress up (iconic, I know). But, if you have the Ariel version sitting around somewhere, she’s worth a CRAZY amount of money. We spotted the My Size Talking Ariel Doll selling anywhere from $515 on Amazon to $1000 on eBay. ©Amazon However, we’ve heard that she could even be worth $1,700 (talk about buried treasure in your attic). Original VHS Tapes Although you can buy VHS tapes for anywhere from a few dollars to $150 (if they’re a bit rarer) like we’ve recently seen, those tapes can apparently be worth THOUSANDS. Since retro is totally in now, people have this nostalgic feeling of wanting to collect VHS tapes — even if they don’t have a VCR. Toy Story VHS Notebook Particularly, people are after the Black Diamond Edition of Beauty and the Beast, which has sold for up to $10,000 (!!!) just in the last year. And, we only expect them to be worth more as the years go on! 101 Dalmatians Giga Pets Tamagotchi, Nintendogs — those pet games were must-haves growing up in the ’90s! And, even though they seem pretty pointless now with the level of video games we currently have (Animal Crossing has our hearts), the 101 Dalmatians Giga Pets can earn you a pretty penny. ©eBay Right now, the game is selling for $90 on eBay — so that means you can pick out a new video game or two just from selling one of the old ones you don’t use anymore! Disney Barbie Gift Sets Now, you may need to do some extra research on this one, folks. Depending on what year your Barbie is from, if she’s been taken out of the box, and what condition she is in, you might have a huge dollar item! As we were researching, we found out that the Mattel Hercules Meg Gift Set is selling for $150 right now and that the Sun Colors Pocahontas Gift Set is selling for $100. ©eBay So, that’s definitely a reason to tell your mom that yes, you definitely needed all those Barbies growing up now that they’re worth so much! Aladdin Genie Plush This one is a little on the rarer side, BUT if you happen have it… get ready to rake in the cash, friends!! When Aladdin was released, Disney also put out a limited edition Genie plush. The catch was that it was MASSIVE (like 40” tall) compared to the Genie plushes you can find in the stores today. ©eBay While we were researching, it was actually difficult to hunt this toy down. When we found him, we were shocked to see that he is selling for $800 on eBay. You ain’t never had a friend like Genie, you know!! And, these six items only scratch the surface! Once you pull out all that Disney merchandise from your storage, check online to see how much your items are worth BEFORE you give them away! You might have a big payday hiding in some old boxes in your attic! Anybody else excited to clean for once now?? Speaking of retro, check out these outdated things in Disney World we LOVE! Disney Springs has finally re-opened to guests so they can enjoy dining and shopping locations all around the property. Disney Springs While we’ve taken you with us LIVE to check out the reopening, given you the deets on new health and safety procedures, and our overall experience, it can be a little bit confusing to navigate Disney Springs right now. Since stores, restaurants, and the property in general have put up distancing signs and stickers, it’s a lot to take in (especially since it’s so new!). We totally understand that things can be a bit tricky to figure out when every place has their own way of promoting distance! There’s no set method for how signs or stickers should look quite yet, so it’s not as simple as hopping from one restaurant to the next and expecting the same stickers. Disney Springs Even though we know it can be a bit overwhelming to see all the new procedures, we’re here to help you navigate Disney Springs like a pro by giving you a guide to the new distancing measures! Please Stand With Your Party Here Many locations across Disney Springs have been using stickers on the ground to indicate where guests should and shouldn’t stand while they are waiting to enter an area. We’ve spotted a lot of different restaurants and stores using these pretty standard red and white indicators that ask guests to stand with their party on the stickers. Pizza Ponte But, a couple places like The Polite Pig… Polite Pig …and Basin have their own special stickers. But the concept is the same. Basin Reopening Group your part together, stand on a marker, and wait for the sticker in front of you to clear before you move forward. Please Stand With Your Party Behind This Line However, a couple of locations around Disney Springs are using social distancing indicators that ask guests to stand behind the safety line instead of on it! These are typically placed at the start of a line and ask you to stand behind the line before the next register or temperature check station are cleared for you to approach — or to remind you to leave distance between you and the Cast Member assisting you. Distancing marker Some of the places we’ve noticed this at include Wolfgang Puck Bar and Grill, 4 Rivers Cantina Barbacoa Food Truck, Sunshine Churros, and Häagen Dazs. Sunshine Churros Marker Just be sure to keep an eye out for the difference between the “please stand here” and “please stand behind this line” stickers as they look very similar! Behind the Line? How Far Behind the Line? Since Disney Springs is making sure to keep guests and Cast Members safe, it’s important to remember to distance yourself 6 feet apart from another person! And when a sticker says “stand behind this line,” guests could use a little direction about how far back they can actually stand while keeping distance from the party behind them. So Disney is also using markers to clarify where NOT to stand while you’re in Disney Springs. World of Disney When you first enter Disney Springs, the temperature check areas will have some of these signs to distance the guests waiting from the guests going through the temperature checks at the time. You’ll make your way through the line hopping from one “please stand here” sticker to the next, but right before you have your temperature checked, you’ll leave your “please stand here” sticker and walk forward until you reach a “stay behind this line” marker. You will pass over a “do not stand here” marker on the ground that reminds the guests behind you not to approach the temperature check until yours is complete. New Protocols to Enter Disney Springs Don’t be nervous, the “do not stand here” signs aren’t hot lava — you can walk over them. But please be respectful to other guests and make sure you’re not camping out on them or breathing down someone’s neck in line. There are other forms of “do not stand here” stickers like at the Amphicars at The Boathouse. You are free to observe, but make sure your party stays outside of the “do not stand” zone to give other groups enough space. The Boathouse Amphicar Do Not Stand Markers Restaurants like Blaze Fast Fire’d Pizza have their own methods to show where visitors shouldn’t stand. We’d like to note that, during our visit, we perceived some of the “X” patterns on the ground as social distancing indicators. However, there might need to be some clarification to guests about what the safety protocol means and how to enforce it. We imagine the extra tape on the ground is to encourage guests to leave space between themselves and the sneeze guard for some extra protection. Blaze Pizza But in a case like Blaze Pizza, if the stickers don’t give explicit instructions, you may be better off asking a Cast Member for direction or defaulting to a little game of Frogger. Specialty Directions Since there is no set standard for how stickers should look, a few spots around Disney Springs have specialty indicators specific to their stores. At Joffrey’s Coffee and Tea, there are coffee beans on the ground for each party to stand on. One party is allowed to stand on each of the 6 bean spots in the coffee shop and must stay there until the bean in front of them has cleared. Note that guests can’t stay inside Joffrey’s to drink their coffee, though! Joffrey’s Coffee Bean Distancing Markers Blaze Pizza also used similar stickers, but with little flames to go along with their “Fast Fire’d Pizza!” Guests were asked to do the same as Joffrey’s by standing on a flame until the one in front of them cleared. Blaze Pizza Line We also noticed specialty stickers at Chicken Guy!… Chicken Guy! …and Earl of Sandwich. So when in doubt, hop on a sticker like these. Earl of Sandwich While Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC may not have cute little cookie stickers (suggestion, maybe??), the store is practicing a different form of distancing by only allowing one party into the bakery at a time. Guests are asked to stand behind the red tape and inside the square boxes while they wait for their order. Erin McKenna’s Tape on the Ground Physical Distancing Reminders Since many guests are excited to be back in Disney Springs, it can be easy to forget to distance yourself when you’re walking through an open area. Stores and restaurants throughout the property have reminders on the ground to stay 6 feet apart whether you are waiting in line or not. Pizza Ponte Distancing Stickers Ron Jon Surf Shop The restrooms across Disney Springs also have signs out front that ask guests to keep the minimum distance between themselves and others. Restroom Sign Social Distancing may not be the firs thing on your mind as you’re roaming the open air pathways around Disney Springs. That’s why the dining and shopping district has put some arrows on its bridges to show the flow of traffic. Instead of risking bumping into opposing traffic, each side of the bridge has a marked direction to walk as you’re crossing. Disney Springs Bridge In short, treat it like you’re driving (in the U.S., that is), stick to the right side of the road! Table Distancing As a part of the social distancing measures in restaurants, seating and capacity have been limited. While the Cast Members have been trained to know where guests can go, there are also reminders on the tables about which spots are currently unavailable — in case you’re at a seat-yourself location (like Blaze Fast Fire’d Pizza). Blaze Pizza Table Stickers Wolfgang Puck Note that seating at some to-go dining locations, such as The Basket at Wine Bar George, has been removed and reclaimed for dine-in guests of Wine Bar George restaurant only. The Boathouse is even using black and white tablecloths to show which tables are open! Guests are seated at the white covered tables, while the black tables are off limits for the time being. The Boathouse Reopening Interior In summary, we know you are very capable of following basic directions…but once you actually get to Disney Springs, it can be a new experience and might take some getting used to. Know that everyone around you is also getting used to it at the same time, so it’s okay if you need to ask a Cast Member for extra guidance (there are plenty of them scattered all throughout Disney Springs). Most spots are using some sort of “please stand here” marker, whether it be little feet, dots, or rectangles. But be sure to steer clear of the big “do not stand here” rectangles and give the Cast Members a little extra space once you get to the front of the line. Remember to “be safe” and “be kind,” friends! Also, be sure to let us know if you still have questions about the reopening of Disney Springs or about the new distancing stickers! Since Disneyland and Disney World originally opened, snacks have seen some MAJOR changes. Mickey Ice Cream While treats have come and gone, some of the most iconic snacks have stuck around for a while (thank goodness!). But, while you might recognize these treats as some of the best-known items in the Disney Parks, they have a bit of history you probably weren’t aware of! And we’re here to tell you some of the wacky and wonderful details about Disney’s most famous snacks! Mickey Pretzel Dole Whip Originally sold in 1986 Although that sweet, swirled pineappley goodness may seem like a staple nowadays, Disney didn’t always have Dole Whip in the parks. When Disneyland’s Tiki Juice Bar opened next to the Enchanted Tiki Room in 1968, it didn’t originally sell Dole products. In 1976, Dole become a sponsor, but the Tiki Juice Bar only sold pineapple juice and pineapple spears (wut!!). But, the famous Dole Whip and Dole Whip Float started being sold in 1986 and quickly became a hit. Dole Whip After seeing the popularity, Kent Precision Foods Group licensed Dole Whip in 1997. The mix started being distributed as “Dole Soft Serve” to other theme parks and food locations. Pineapple Dole Whip Although it previously had dairy, the treats were made vegan starting in 2013 with non-dairy creamer. Anybody else super craving a Dole Whip now?? Learn how to make your own authentic Dole Whip at home with this recipe! Mickey Waffle Originally made in the 1980s Did you know that Mickey Waffles didn’t start as waffles? The origin of the waffles started with round Mickey pancakes in the parks. However, Disney started experimenting with their batter supplier and some irons in the 1980s to discover if they could make Mickey-shaped waffles (of course, they did). Maybe you can make your own Mickey Waffles! Imagineering even helped out to mold the perfect design so the waffle stayed intact with Mickey’s face after being cooked! Disney breakfasts have been more magical ever since! Mini Mickey Waffles from Roaring Fork! Mickey waffles have gone on to see different iterations (brb daydreaming about those Loaded Mickey Waffles) and even been offered as a plant-based breakfast option, starting in 2019. You can make your own EXACT Mickey Waffles at home with this recipe! Mickey Bar Originally made in 1985 Although it’s become arguably one of the most iconic treats in the parks, the Mickey Premium Bar wasn’t one of the original opening day treats in Disney (GASP!). Nestlé helped bring the bar into the parks in 1985 and has continued to make changes to it over the years. The original Mickey Bars weren’t even Mickey-shaped, but just regular ol’ ovals at first. However, they changed in the 1990s to the iconic Mickey shape we know and love today. The BEST Mickey Bar!! The ice cream has also been switched in the Mickey Bars. The original had a chocolate and vanilla ice cream combo, but now the treat is just vanilla ice cream with a chocolate coating. “Mickey Bar” Krispie Treat While the Mickey Bars are an iconic staple of the parks, Disney brought a similar version of the treats to grocery stores in 2019 for Mickey’s 90th birthday! Mickey Bars at Home! So, while you’re missing the parks at home, you can snack on this iconic treat from the comfort of your couch!! Find out where you can buy Mickey Bars near you here! Churros Originally sold in 1985 Okay, who here went to Videopolis in Disneyland during the 80s before it was changed to the Fantasyland Theatre?? When Videopolis was scheduled to open, Jim Lowman was asked to come up with some treats to add to the food and beverage offerings in the park that would bring guests in. And, boy, did he come up with a FANTASTIC idea!! Sleeping Beauty Churros After attending the Long Beach Grand Prix in 1985, he spotted a churro booth with a small warming oven (and the origin story begins). When he saw that the box stated the churros were from J&J Snack Foods, he contacted them to work with Disneyland. However, Lowman got J&J to change their original 6-inch churros to the 12-inch versions we see in the parks now. Apple Cinnamon Churro Before fully bringing them into all of Disneyland, he tested them at the Mark Twain Riverboat exit to see how sales would be. People literally followed the cart down the street! Toffee Churro Sales were so great that TWO churro carts were put inside Videopolis and later moved to the rest of the park. Create your own DIY Disney Churros from your kitchen here! Turkey Legs Originally sold in 1989 We’re here to put the rumor to rest! The Turkey Legs in Disney Parks are NOT made of Emu, you guys! While we usually see most “normal” turkey legs, like the ones you eat at Thanksgiving, from female turkeys, the reason the Disney snacks are so big is that the legs come from male turkeys. Jumbo Turkey Leg Back when Food and Beverage Executive Dave Jarrett was looking for new items to bring into the parks, he spotted the giant turkey legs at a fair when he was traveling for Disney. Although management originally didn’t think that the snacks would fit into the park, they became a success after the team tried them and agreed to sell them in the parks. The Turkey Legs were finally put into Disney World in 1989, and they’ve remained a fan-favorite ever since! Turkey Leg at Disney — Up Close Take a look at the PERFECT Dooney & Bourke Bag for all you Disney Turkey Leg fans out there! Okay, yeah, we’re totally hungry right now. We might need to crank out some of those Disney recipes in the meantime before the parks reopen!! Any snacks we missed that you’re dying to know the exciting backstory on?! Here at DFB, we love sharing all our tips and tricks on how to make your Disney World vacation extra magical. Walt Disney World’s Epcot But, even though we’ve practically become pros now, we’ve experienced a LOT of mishaps over the years. While part of the fun is the learning process, there are definitely some decisions we regret making during our own trips to the parks! We’ve changed the way we visit Disney World by learning some pretty valuable lessons. And, we’re sharing our top picks with you so you can become an expert Disney vacationer too! Standing in Line Instead of Using Mobile Order Sometimes you’re just REALLY craving those corn dog nuggets, and you’ll do anything to get them. Yes, you’ll even wait in a super long line (oof). But, chances are, most of the spots you might be waiting at probably use Disney’s Mobile Order system, which can save you LOADS of time. Corn Dog Nuggets In case you’ve never used this handy dandy feature, all you have to do is open up the My Disney Experience app, find your preferred location, pick food or drinks you’d like to order, and pre-pay for your items (it works with the Disney Dining Plan too!). Then, instead of wasting your valuable ride time waiting in line for food and drinks, Mobile Order can save you from standing around for your snacks! Bay 1 Mobile Order If you’re a fan of popular foods like Dole Whips or Ronto Wraps, this is an especially great tool for places that normally have a loooong line like Aloha Isle in Magic Kingdom or Ronto Roasters in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Plus, many of the Disney resorts even offer Mobile Order so you can grab and go before heading to the pool or back to your room after a long day. Click here to learn some of our best tips for Mobile Order Not Taking Advantage of Resort Delivery Although we’ve shared our ultimate packing list of what to bring to Disney World, sometimes it’s easy to forget a thing or two when you’re packing for your entire family AND yourself. But, instead of overpacking your suitcase or risking leaving behind some valuable items, you can actually get things delivered directly to your Disney resort! Animal Kingdom Lodge You can ship packages to your resort and have anything from groceries to diapers and even medication delivered. This saves plenty of time and packing space when you’re getting everything together. Polynesian Lobby Just make sure, whether you’re doing a grocery delivery or shipping packages from home or Amazon, to get just what you’ll need for the length of your trip! Otherwise you might be like us, standing in our room on check-out day wondering what to do with three boxes of Go-gurts we thought our kids would DEFINITELY eat during our trip! Click here to learn more about having packages delivered to your Disney Resort! Pushing Everyone in Your Party Too Hard We’ve BEEN THERE before — waking up at the crack of dawn to get a boarding group for Rise of the Resistance, hopping on all the rides in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, running to make our Advance Dining Reservation in Epcot on time, and ending our night with fireworks in the Magic Kingdom. Cut to us the next morning (ready cram in another full day) and our kids just WILL. NOT. WAKE. UP. It’s EASY to push your family (or yourself!) too hard at Disney World. Rise of the Resistance While there are so many things to see, it’s important to try and pace yourself. Remember the whole “it’s a marathon, not a sprint” saying? Assuming you’re going for more than a day or two, that applies to Disney World too! Whether you take a well-needed nap (or let the crew miss breakfast and sleep in!) or a tag along with your kiddos for a pool break, recharging is essential to having a good time with your family and friends. There’s no need for the fights and tears from being overly tired! Luna Park Pool at Disney’s Boardwalk If you’re traveling with kids, a day playing at your resort can go a long way after they’ve seen so much in a short period of time. And, adults, listen up! There are SO many spots outside the parks to have a chill afternoon. Take a moment to visit Disney Springs for a date night or try a new restaurant around the property! Welcome to Wine Bar George! It is SO easy to burn out going too hard and too fast, so forcing yourself to slow down can save you (and your family!) massive headaches. Want to try something new? Check out 36 things you didn’t know you could do in Disney World! Not Packing the Right Things Florida weather can be pretty unpredictable, so you’ve got to pack for the worst! Since rain can come and go while you’re in the parks (we’ve been stuck in MANY torrential downpours before), keep a pair of sandals (waterproof — with a back strap!) and a rain poncho in your bag to avoid waterlogged shoes and soaked clothes (come to think of it, maybe throw a dry shirt in there too!). Pack some Ponchos! Although the Florida sunshine and humidity seem like typical defaults for the weather, cold nights aren’t unheard of in Disney World during the winter months. Make sure to bring along a warm jacket and check the forecast before you head out for the day! If the temperature drops, that extra layer can be a lifesaver as you watch fireworks. Snoap at Sunset Seasons Greetings Also, make sure to wear…logical…clothing during your visit! We know that those rompers can be super cute in photos, but the moments you have to fully undress in a bathroom…not so magical. Check out the 6 things you SHOULDN’T bring with you on your next Disney vacation here! Exiting the Park Right at the End of Fireworks After a long day, we get that all you want to do is go back to your resort to crash for the night. But, remember — everyone else has the same idea that you do! At the end of fireworks, it’s SO easy to get caught up in the massive swarm of guests leaving all at once (and don’t forget the fear of losing a member of your party!). However, there are a few ways to avoid some of the crowds as you’re exiting! Heavy Fireworks Crowds If you don’t mind hanging out in the park til the VERY end of the night, you can jump in usually short lines for popular rides just before park closing. You’re allowed to get in line up until the minute the park closes, so this can help buy some time for the park to clear out while you get in one last ride! Under the Sea – Journey of The Little Mermaid Although, you could leave before the grand finale of Happily Ever After, we think seeing the end of the fireworks is also one of the best parts. So, if you want to see the FULL show, wait until it finishes then make your way to the shops on Main Street, U.S.A. and browse for a little bit as most of the guests exit. Cinderella Castle The shops stay open an hour after the park closes, so you have plenty of time to look around while the crowds thin. Plus, you can also grab some great nighttime shots without all the people around! Cinderella Castle at Night Also, in case you haven’t stayed in the park after the fireworks, Magic Kingdom has what they call a “Kiss Goodnight” where the castle puts on a small show before Mickey thanks you for coming to the park that day. Not a lot of people know to stick around for this, so it’s a wonderful moment to share with your family and friends! Take a look at all the ways you can watch fireworks in Disney World here! Although we’ve made a few mistakes along the way, we’ve lived and learned the best ways to conquer Disney World! Whether it means showing some restraint, slowing down, or figuring out the most stress-free way to exit the park after a busy day, we’ve been there, done that and lived to tell the tale so you can learn from our experience! With Disney facing a super weird summer and fall (most likely), we’re thinking the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival will look different than it has in previous years. Epcot Food and Wine Festival Since its inaugural year in 1995, the Epcot Food and Wine Festival has continued to grow in size and popularity. It’s an annual event that many Disney fans (us included!) look forward to exploring year after year. But it seems likely that the festival will undergo some changes this year. We’ve seen the health and safety measures that were implemented with the reopening of Shanghai Disneyland and Disney Springs. So, how might the Food and Wine Festival be different? While we’re still waiting on an official announcement from Disney regarding the kick-off date for the Food and Wine Festival, in years past, it has started in late August. Here are some of the changes we could see at the festival this year. Changes to the Ordering Process at Food Booths If you’ve been to Epcot during the Food and Wine Festival, then you’ve seen first-hand how crazy-long the Food Booth lines can get — and guests are packed into those queues tight! If physical distance is still a focus by the time the festival begins, then Disney will likely need to adjust the process for ordering at the booths. One solution that might be used is line spacing like we’ve seen throughout Disney Springs locations, which shows guests where to stand. Disney Springs Distancing Measures We could also see the use of mobile order expanded to the Food Booths. While many of the counter service restaurants in Disney World allow guests to mobile order from their phone without waiting in line, it hasn’t been used at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival booths before. BUT, the festivals at Disney California Adventure DO utilize the mobile order system already, and it seems to be pretty successful. So, Disney World could opt to go this route as well to cut down on the need for queues. Click here to learn more about mobile order in Disney World! Festival Cutlery In previous years, forks, knives, and spoons have been available in self-serve dispensers near the booths. Since this is a high-touch point for guests, there’s a chance the self-service cutlery system could be adjusted this year. Instead, Cast Members may hand out utensils to guests along with the menu item they ordered. 2019 Booth We could also see Disney encourage guests to bring their own reusable flatware. We’ve seen bamboo utensils offered as part of the Festival merchandise last year, so it’s possible this could be expanded this year. That way, there wouldn’t be a need to touch cutlery that had already been handled by someone else. Want to see all of our favorite menu items from the 2019 Food and Wine Festival? Click here for our Best of the Fest list! Tables Tables are a hot commodity at Epcot festivals — it already feels like there aren’t enough of them and we often see guests using trash cans as make-shift tables (VERY guilty of this too!). If distancing requirements still keep people six feet apart, we could see even fewer tables at the festival this year — or none at all! Australia Booth Spread Tables would be a high priority item for constant cleaning and sanitizing. With that in mind, more custodial Cast Members would be needed in order to closely monitor and sanitize the tables after each use. Across all of Epcot, that could equal a LOT more custodial Cast Members! New to Food and Wine? Click here for our Festival 101! Contactless Payments In Disney Springs, many locations are encouraging their customers to use contactless payments, including Wine Bar George in Disney Springs. Mobile order would allow for easy contactless payment, as guests are charged through the credit card tied to their account. But if cash registers are still utilized, we’ll likely see guests encouraged to pay using their MagicBand, or another touchless payment method. Food and Wine Festival Sign On the other side of the transaction, we could also see a shift towards emailed receipts. Many retailers offer the option to email a receipt to their customers, so Disney could consider a similar measure to remove another point of contact (plus, less paper waste!). Check out the full list of Food Booth menus (and photos!) from the 2019 Epcot Food and Wine Festival! Festival Special Events and Seminars The Food and Wine Festival also gives guests the opportunity to dive deeper into the culinary arts with seminars, demonstrations, and special events like the Party for the Senses. Social distancing requirements could trigger changes to these events including reduced capacity and staggered seating. Party for the Senses The high-contact elements of some events could also be removed — in other words, we might not see book signings or chef meet-and-greets like we have at previous festivals. Check out our full review of the Epcot Food and Wine Party for the Senses! Eat to the Beat Concert Series One of the popular festival events that guests flock to every year is the Eat to the Beat Concert Series held in the American Adventure Pavilion. This is another case where we could see reduced capacity at each concert. Given the popularity of these events, that also calls into question how Disney would manage attendance. Sugar Ray performs during the Eat to the Beat concert series Disney offers Eat to the Beat Dining Packages that include guaranteed seating at the concert, so they could allow only guests with a dining package to enter. If standby seating is still offered, Disney might implement a virtual queue system to distribute remaining seats. Click here for more info on the Eat to the Beat Concert Series — including the 2020 performers that have been announced so far! Fewer Guests in the Park The Food and Wine Festival can get intensely crowded. Disney might have to cap attendance at a lower number to ensure social distancing can be maintained. The Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force has suggested that large theme parks reopen at no more than 50% capacity during Phase 1 and 75% capacity during Phase 2. Phases are a moving target based on the progression of case numbers, so it’s unclear where Food and Wine will fall in this. But this backs up the possibility of capped attendance. Food and Wine If total attendance is reduced, it could possibly be easier for Disney to manage limited capacity at festival events like seminars, demonstrations, and the Eat to the Beat concerts. Read more about the reopening guidelines suggested by the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force here Face Masks At Disney Springs, currently the only part of Disney World that is open, face masks are required for both guests and Cast Members. By the time Food and Wine rolls around, masks might still be required. Disney-themed Cloth Face Masks ©Disney While guests are permitted to take their masks off to eat, it could be problematic for Disney to enforce this policy throughout the festival with so many guests strolling around. Check out these Disney-themed face masks available to order online! We look forward to the Epcot Food and Wine Festival every year. But this year, there will likely be some significant changes to the way the event is run. We’ll keep an eye on how the phased reopening of Disney Springs progresses and of course, we’re on the lookout for any official announcements from Disney. Here are the menu items we really want to see return to the next Food and Wine Festival! What changes do you expect to see at Food and Wine this year? Tell us your thoughts in the comments! Here is another #DisneyMagicMoment from the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend a few months ago, Heather Yang’s incredible story of hope and perseverance … In 2018, Heather Yang was training to run her first half marathon when she was blindsided by a stage 3 colon cancer diagnosis. The disease derailed Yang’s training and led to five months of chemotherapy, but as a United States Army veteran and a first responder during the Sept. 11 tragedy, she knew she had the strength and determination to fight for her life. In March 2019, Yang completed chemotherapy and began a new journey as a cancer survivor, which included getting back to one of the things she loves most –running. In January 2020, that love of running and eight months of training led to her fulfilling a dream when she completed the Walt Disney World Half Marathon. Here’s a look at Yang’s magical experience. There are some essential things you might be leaving off of your Disney World itinerary! Disney World Monorail Planning a Disney World vacation is exciting! In fact, sometimes we get so caught up snagging our Advance Dining Reservations, making our FastPass+ selections, and booking special event tickets that we forget to add some essential things into our schedule. Today we want to talk about something you might be disregarding that could actually make all the difference on your trip to Disney World! Of course, Disney World is a magical place. But as wonderful as it is, it can still make for a draining vacation! You and your family will be walking A LOT, the weather will probably be hot and sunny, and there’s constant mental stimulation all day, every day. The adrenaline and excitement can only fuel your tank for so long — you and your family WILL get worn out! Big Thunder Mountain Railroad The truth is, if you don’t take the time to rest and refuel when you need it, you and your family will get burnt out. So, while we understand the desire to make the most out of every moment of your vacation, you’ll probably make more happy memories if you get the REST you need! Here are our top tips for making sure you and your family stay well-rested and happy during your vacation. Make Sure Everyone is Getting the Sleep They Need This might sound self-explanatory, but it’s surprisingly easy to overschedule yourself at the expense of your sleep! First, keep an eye on how you’re planning consecutive days. For example, if you have tickets for an After Hours Event, you can count on being out pretty late that night — so it’s probably not the best idea to plan on rope-dropping Disney’s Hollywood Studios the next day to get a Rise of the Resistance boarding group! Disney Villains After Hours Also, if you have nappers in your family, try to avoid making dining reservations or FastPass+ selections for mid-day when it’s normally naptime! In our experience, we’ve found it’s best to stick as close to our normal sleep schedules as possible, especially when traveling with the kiddos. Again, that adrenaline will only keep you running for so long before the inevitable crash! Want to learn more about late-night at Disney World? Click here for our ultimate guide to the Disney Villains After Hours event! Build a Resort Day Into Your Vacation This is a great way to recharge mid-vacation! Again, we totally understand the desire to pack as many rides, restaurants, and activities as possible into your trip. But if you plan a resort day about halfway through your vacation, your family can rest up and have more energy to power through the rest of your stay! Cars Building at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort Having the chance to sleep in, rest your feet, and relax can go a long way towards preventing future meltdowns. And even if you do have someone in your group who can’t sit still, there’s plenty they can do at the resorts! There are pools, arcades, and resort specific activities (like the drawing class at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort!) to keep them busy! Click here to see tips for choosing the BEST Disney World Resort! Make Sure Your Family is Getting the Food They Need Yep, it’s important to rest AND refuel! And this can be a particularly tricky situation in Disney World. There are a ton of cupcakes, french fries, and Mickey ice cream bars around the parks and resorts. So it’s easy to eat a lot less healthy — or at least a lot different — than you and your family are used to at home. And these nutritional changes can lead to meltdowns and “tummy aches” for sure, so it’s important to make sure your family if getting the food they need to stay healthy! Satu’li Bowl with Tofu If the urge strikes for something moderately healthy while at Disney, there are some restaurants around property that offer more “whole food” options, like the Build Your Own Bowls at Satu’li Canteen and the Chip ‘n’ Dale Harvest Feast Dinner at Garden Grill Restaurant. You’ll also find fresh fruits and veggies for sale at the resort food courts (but beware, they’re pricey!) and at locations around the parks like Anaheim Produce in Hollywood Studios. Anaheim Produce Or if you want to take it a step further to REALLY make sure you have your food of choice on hand, you can have groceries delivered to your resort! All of the Disney World Resort hotels will allow guests to have packages delivered to the front desk for pick-up. Disney does charge a small fee (right now, it’s $6 per delivery) on top of the delivery fee through whichever service you use. Just be sure to check out all the details before you place your order to make sure your package arrives safely! Click here to learn more about having groceries delivered to your Disney World hotel! Stay Hydrated! Okay, now that we’ve covered the importance of getting the food you need, we have to talk about drinking enough water! Between the heat and humidity, dehydration can sneak up on you sooner than you might expect. We definitely suggest that you bring a water bottle to the parks so you can keep water on hand at all times. Skyliner Water Bottle We’ve also seen Disney add several water bottle filling stations throughout the parks in places like Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and the Flight of Passage queue. Of course, you can use regular water fountains to refill as well, but we find the water bottle fill stations to be easier than a traditional fountain! Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Water Bottle Refill Station And remember, you can also get free cups of ice water at quick-service restaurants throughout Disney World! Here’s what you need to know about Disney World’s refillable water bottle stations (including more locations you can find them!). Keep a Handle on Everyone’s Emotional Well-Being Whether it’s exhaustion, hunger, dehydration, or a combination of factors, Disney World can take a lot out of people! We know from experience how easy it is to get caught up in the magic and miss out on signs that someone else is losing steam. Don’t forget to take a step back and gauge how all of the members of your party are feeling. And if someone isn’t feeling well enough to get on a ride or go to a meal, skip it! Even if you’ve had the reservation for months, pushing past your family’s tipping point isn’t worth it in the long run. Cinderella’s Royal Table If you do have to skip out on a reservation, you can try to reschedule it for later in your trip! Same day FastPasses and dining reservations do come up as other people cancel or reschedule their time slots. Keep refreshing the FastPass page of My Disney Experience to be on the lookout for new openings for rides you want to experience. Also, you can stop by the check-in desk of table service restaurants to ask if they can accommodate a walk-in party. Toy Story Land Holiday Decorations Remember that same-day FastPasses and dining don’t always result in you getting your first choice of attractions and restaurants, but you never know until you try. Trust us, even if you don’t get the exact experience you originally hoped for, it’s still better than sitting through a ride or meal where EVERYONE is miserable! Morimoto Asia Street Food is now reopened in Disney Springs! Morimoto Asia Street Food Select third-party shops and restaurants began reopening at Disney Springs on May 20th. We were there on reopening day to share our experience, and we’re continuing to drop in to check out locations as they reopen. Today, Morimoto Asia Street Food joined the list of reopened locations at Disney Springs, so we stopped in to grab some lunch! Ordering Process Similar to other locations around Disney Springs, Morimoto Asia Street Food has social distancing markers set up to show guests proper spacing as they stand in line to order their food. Social Distancing Markers We noticed that the large overhead menu which used to be placed above the counter was missing. Instead, there was a copy of the temporary menu, with reduced offerings, displayed in front of the register. Morimoto Asia Street Food It wasn’t yet set up when we ordered, but by the time we left, a plexiglass guard was installed in front of the register. Plexiglass Guard They were accepting cash payments, although the Cast Member informed us that they are encouraging contactless credit card payments if possible. The self-serve condiment station has been removed, so the Cast Member handed us sauces, napkins, and silverware after we placed our order. Morimoto Asia Street Food Cast Member They informed us that they’ve placed an order for packaged silverware and napkin kits, but they hadn’t arrived yet. Seating The restaurant removed some tables and spaced out the seating to allow for social distancing while dining. Seating at Morimoto Asia Street Food There was also a hand sanitizer station set up by the seating area. Hand Sanitizer Station As we were eating, another party finished their meal and left, and a Cast Member immediately wiped down the table at which they were sitting. So, in our experience, the team was on top of sanitation procedures! Eats Okay, now for the fun part — FOOD! The restaurant was offering a temporary menu with reduced options. Morimoto Asia Street Food Menu First, we tried the BBQ Pork Bun. We were curious to see how it compared to the Cheeseburger Pods from Satu’li Canteen in Disney’s Animal Kingdom! This was a soft bao bun filled with a creamy pork mixture for $7. BBQ Pork Bun We really enjoyed this BBQ Pork Bun! The texture was nice and fluffy, and the flavor was a bit sweet. So this might be a good choice if you’re trying to avoid excess spice! The bun by itself wasn’t super filling, but it would be great as a snack or a light lunch. It’s safe to say, in our opinion, this bao and Satu’li Canteen’s don’t disappoint! Both are filled with rich, meaty mixtures — it may just be a matter of whether you’re craving pork or beef! BBQ Pork Bun We also tried the Spicy Chashu Ramen, which had Soy Flavored Pork Broth, Roasted Pork, Scallions, and a Soy Marinated Egg. And as much as we enjoyed the bun, the ramen was the real winner for us! Fair warning, it was pretty spicy, so it’s probably best to avoid this one if you’re not a fan of heat. Spicy Chashu Ramen But, in addition to the spice, there was a ton of great flavors in the ramen. We really enjoyed the pork which was sliced super thin and cooked perfectly. The noodles did help balance the spice a bit, and we liked that we could taste the soy in both the egg and the broth. So, the ramen gets two big thumbs up from us! Overall Experience We really enjoyed our time at Morimoto Asia Street Food. Both of the menu items we tried were awesome (especially the ramen!) and we took notice of the many precautions the restaurant and its Cast Members were taking. As usual, it was an absolute delight dining at Morimoto Asia Street Food! We’ll definitely be back again soon — we’re still dreaming about that ramen! Earlier today, we shared some very important news from The Basket at Wine Bar George (in addition to these adorable tumblers). Corticle Tumbers In case you missed it, they are now pairing their loaded french fries with frozen beverages! So we headed to the recently reopened Disney Springs to see if THIS could be our go-to snack for the summer! The Basket’s “Frozen & Fries” are Wine Bar George’s suggestions to make a delicious combo of french fries and frozen drinks to go. Since they are suggestions, they are not being sold as a combo deal at this time. But to refresh your memory, you can choose from the following Frozen & Fries: They paired Queso Fries with their signature Frosé. Queso Fries with Frosé © Wine Bar George Or you can grab the Togarashi Fries with Friezling made with Dole Whip Lime. Togarashi Fries with Friezling made with Dole Whip Lime © Wine Bar George And the list continues with California Fries with Frozcato made with Dole Whip Pineapple (because we think there is no such thing as too much Dole Whip). California Fries with Frozcato made with Dole Whip Pineapple © Wine Bar George It was a tough choice, but we opted to try the Buffalo Fries with Freaujolais on our maiden Frozen & Fries voyage. Instagram… Buffalo Fries with Freaujolais © Wine Bar George …versus reality! Well done, Wine Bar George. We had to take these to-go because the tables that are normally outside The Basket are currently for the Wine Bar George Restaurant only. But, don’t underestimate our ability to use a trash can (or in this case, a wine barrel) as a make-shift table. Buffalo Fries with Freaujolais In a word: YES. These seasoned fries were topped with buffalo sauce, buffalo salt, blue cheese, and chives — and they were delicious. They were served with generous chunks of blue cheese (fortunately we were digging it, but if you aren’t a blue cheese fan, you might not be into it). The fries were well seasoned with the buffalo salt, so you can taste extra buffalo flavor in addition to the sauce. As far as buffalo sauce goes, we’d probably rate this medium because there was a kick, but our mouths weren’t totally on fire afterwards. But if you’re sensitive to heat, you may want to try a different basket. We thought there was a pretty generous portion of fries and the basket was $8. Buffalo Fries It might not be summer yet, but we be sweatin’ in the Florida heat. Or was it the buffalo sauce…hard to say. Either way, the Freaujolais was a delightful way to cool off. It’s made with Beaujolais, Vodka, and Raspberry for $13. We found it to be much more refreshing and not quite as sweet as the Dole Whip drinks (thank you, red wine). Freaujolais Overall we thought these Frozen & Fries were a sweet, spicy, tangy flavor combo that we can get behind! If you loved the Buffalo Chicken Loaded Tots from Magic Kingdom, this is a great snack to tide you over while the parks are closed! Disney Springs is back OPEN with places to shop and spots to grab a bite. Pizza Ponte While Disney-owned locations won’t be opening until May 27th, there are still SO many restaurants and stores that will be greeting guests again. Today, we’re making our way over to the newly-reopened Pizza Ponte to see how they’re handling the changes. Pizza Ponte is one of the Pantina Restaurant Group locations reopening (you can see the rest of them here!) to guests in Disney Springs. Currently, the restaurant will be open from 12PM to 8PM with limited menu options. But, these hours are always subject to change! Pizza Ponte Patina recently stated that they would be instituting a Dine Safe: Commitment to Care program in order to make sure that health concerns and risks are minimized during operation and the hygiene protocols are at the CDC standard or above. The Dine Safe Plan stated that the dining room would have the following requirements: face coverings for guests except while eating or drinking, redesigned table layout to allow distancing, enhanced cleaning and sanitation protocols, the addition of hand-sanitizing stations, controlled access through designated entrances and exits, and single-use menus. Dine Safe Certifications and Hand Sanitizer When we arrived at Pizza Ponte, there were clearly marked entrances and exits for guests to use so the restaurant could control its flow of traffic. Pizza Ponte The spot encouraged the use of a QR code menu to reduce contact points with other guests. They had the menu posted as well. Pizza Ponte Menu The floor had plenty of clear markings reminding guests to physically distance. Pizza Ponte Pizza Ponte has changed its seating lay-out to separate tables to comply with its new procedures as well. Pizza Ponte As a part of the Dine Safe program, the Patina restaurant employees will be undergoing health checks when they get to work, sanitizing their hands when they arrive and continue to wash and sanitize their hands every 20 minutes of their shift, wearing masks while they’re at Pizza Ponte, and taking part in a comprehensive training program. Pizza Ponte At this time, Pizza Ponte is taking cashless payments only. There was hand sanitizer available at the register too! Pizza Ponte We thought that Pizza Ponte upheld the standards that both Disney Springs and the Patina Restaurant Group set in place to keep guests and employees safe. Stay tuned with Disney Food Blog as we explore a reopened Disney Springs for the next few weeks! You can check out ALL the other restaurants open in Disney Springs today here! Universal Orlando is reopening its theme parks to the public on June 5th. Universal Orlando Universal Orlando is set to become one of the first major theme park resorts to reopen in the United States. Though they have set a precedent with the reopening of Universal CityWalk last week, the company is still working out many of the details about how their reopening will look on June 5th. Here’s what we know so far. Going to the Theme Parks According to the reopening plan that Universal submitted to the Florida government, the theme parks will implement a soft opening with limited guests on June 1st before moving to a public and official reopening on June 5th. Universal Unlike Shanghai Disneyland, guests will not be required to make a reservation to visit the theme parks. Still, the parks will be operating at limited capacity so Universal does note that the parks may reach capacity and additional guests will not be admitted. The majority of attractions and experiences are set to be available when the park opens. Some experiences will not be available and some may be altered. More specific information will be released soon and we will be sure to update. Islands of Adventure Gate The rest of the Universal Resort health, safety, and hygiene measures will apply (below). We will keep an eye out for more specific information on the theme park operations. Going to Volcano Bay Universal’s water park, Volcano Bay, will be opening as well. To implement physical distancing, the water park will follow the same guidelines as the rest of the resorts plus a few more specific ones. Capacity will be limited on each attraction (rivers and pools included), one party will be allowed per raft for raft rides, and lounge chairs will be arranged so that parties may sit together with six feet between other guests. ©Universal Guests will be required to wear face masks during their time in Volcano Bay however they will not be permitted on the water slides or in the pools. Team members will be wearing face coverings as long as it is not required that they get in the water. Those who may need to enter the water (lifeguards, etc.) will wear balaclavas when not specifically on a slide or in a pool. Health Measures The general health measures at Universal are as follows: Guests and team members are required to wear face coverings. Guests and team members are required to undergo temperature checks. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 degrees or greater will not be able to enter Universal CityWalk or the theme parks. Parking will be staggered within the parking garage to help create distance between travel groups. Park and attraction capacity will be limited and reduced in Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay. There will be increased cleaning and disinfection of food locations, ride vehicles, and other frequent touchpoints. Physical distancing will be encouraged at all locations through the parks. Virtual Line will be available for select attractions. Cashless payments and “no-touch” policies will be available where possible. CityWalk Reopening With the exception of water rides, guests will be required to wear their face coverings while on the attractions. Hand sanitizer will also be required prior to boarding a ride vehicle and Universal team members will provide guests with sanitizer. Soft Opening As we mentioned, Universal Orlando will be opening with a limited number of guests on June 1st to get ready for the public reopening a few days later. Universal CityWalk At this time, Universal is still working through the details as to who those limited guests may be. Passholder Update Universal Orlando Annual and Seasonal Passholders received an email today announcing the reopening with a “Welcome Home.” Special Passholder experiences will apparently be announced soon. Universal Email Screenshot As a reminder, Universal is automatically extending all affected Annual and Seasonal passes by the number of days that the parks were closed. Hotel Information As for the hotels, Universal is still working out the details. Guests with reservations will be contacted as soon as plans are made available. Universal Studios Aventura Hotel Heart Message For now, guests can modify or cancel bookings held for the closure period with no fee. During the period, cancelation fees are waived for hotel reservations canceled more than 24 hours in advance of arrival. Events Universal has canceled all scheduled events including Grad Bash 2020 and Gradventure 2020. On the subject of Halloween Horror Nights and the 2020 Holidays celebration, more details will be released at a later time. We will update you with any more events information. We will update this post as more details are released about the opening of Universal Orlando Resort. Click here to read the Universal Orlando reopening announcement.
