  2. Sephora has finally re-opened to guests (and all you makeup lovers) in Disney Springs! Sephora On top of the discount they’re offering for frontline healthcare workers right now, Sephora is also giving back to the community when you purchase some merchandise in their store! While places like American Threads and Vera Bradley have been selling face coverings, Sephora is now offering their own version with a red and black-and-white-striped heart print! Sephora Employee They’re the same face coverings they give employees to wear, so you can show your support for Sephora. But, the best part is that $5 of your purchase of the $10 face covering will go to charity! Sephora Face Mask We LOVE to see so many Disney Springs stores giving back to the community during this time! And, if you want to check out more face masks, Disney is selling some adorable ones online so you mix and match them with your outfits. Find out which face masks are the most comfortable to wear in Disney World here! Have you started collecting Disney face coverings? Let us know in the comments below! 3. Although merchandise comes and goes in Walt Disney World, it can pretty exciting when you’re surprised with a returning item that you thought was gone for good! The Basket at Wine Bar George Ever since Wine Bar George’s The Basket has been serving up its “Fries and Frozen” promo, we’ve been snagging up all that frozen Dole Whip goodness in their cute, reusable Corkcickles they sell. But soon after we first spotted the newest color option, the restaurant was all out of the accompanying teal and lime color block Corkcicles. We were told that there was a possibility that the new Color Block Corkcicle would not be returning after it sold out, but we were SUPER excited to see it was back again today! New Corkcicle Remember that the refill procedures are a bit different now! You can still go back to The Basket for $10 refills of Froscato, Frosé, or Freaujolais after purchasing a Corkcicle for $13, but the quick-stop will put your drink in a plastic cup instead of directly in the Corkcicle. New Corkcicle Procedure Even though they used to refill it inside the Corkcicle itself, The Basket is following the health and safety procedures at Disney Springs during this time. If you want the refill, you’ll still need to bring your Corkcicle along with you to show to the cashier to get the discount! Those frozen drinks are SO worth it, though. Read our full review of Wine Bar George’s re-opening here! What’s your favorite drink to get at The Basket? Let us know in the comments below! 4. We’ve been going to Disney Springs every day to bring all the news you need to know (and to get a Froscato, of course). Disney Springs While there have been plenty of restaurants and stores re-opening around the shopping and dining district, we couldn’t help but notice that one place had disappeared today! Although Joffrey’s Coffee is open for guests to grab some Face Coffee, the Joffrey’s Handcrafted Smoothies kiosk on the West Side is gone! Joffrey’s Handcrafted Smoothies Area Instead of the kiosk, there are a bunch of plants and shrubs in the area instead. Where Did Joffrey’s Go?? While the Marketplace kiosk is still open… Joffrey’s Handcrafted Smoothies …we’re not sure if the West Side Joffrey’s Handcrafted Smoothies will be returning or if this is just a temporary move! Missing Joffrey’s Handcrafted Smoothies Cast Members weren’t sure if the location would be coming back or not, so we’ll keep you updated on whether Joffrey’s Handcrafted Smoothies’ disappearance is temporary or permanent! We’ve got all the details on how you can drink your Joffrey’s Coffee with a face mask here! What’s your favorite Joffrey’s drink? Let us know in the comments below! Related posts: Review! 5. We spotted several bars at Disney Springs that have now reopened! Disney Springs Looking for a place to grab a drink in Disney Springs? Well then, we have great news! On our walk-through of Disney Springs, we noticed a handful of locations have reopened their bar seating as of today. So, where can you go to snag a spot at the bar? The Front Porch Bar at House of Blues Well, let’s start with The Front Porch Bar at House of Blues! While the restaurant and retail store had already reopened earlier this week, the patio and outdoor bar are now welcoming back guests as well. The Front Porch Bar at House of Blues The patio is also offering live music performances and happy hour specials! House of Blues Happy Hour Specials Guests are asked to maintain social distancing of at least six feet, and contactless payments and menus are available. Check out the newly reopened House of Blues! Wine Bar George Bar seating has also resumed at one of our favorite Disney Springs restaurants, Wine Bar George! For now, bar seating is very limited and is only available downstairs. Wine Bar George Bar Seating Wine Bar George has implemented a number of new health and safety measures upon reopening. Have you seen these loaded fries from The Basket at Wine Bar George?? The Boathouse The indoor bar at The Boathouse is reopened, but guests are asked not to move the barstools from their current locations. The Boathouse Indoor Bar The outside bar at The Boathouse is still closed for now! We visited The Boathouse when it reopened, check out our experience! Paradiso 37 We noticed a similar situation at Paradiso 37 — the indoor bar is now reopened, but the outdoor bar is still currently closed. Paradiso 37 Indoor Bar Pairs of barstools were spaced apart in order to encourage social distancing. Paradiso 37 recently updated its operating hours! STK Orlando Bar seating is also now available at STK Orlando. STK Orlando They will be keeping an empty bar seat between each party in order to allow for distancing. Check out our review of the reopened STK Orlando! The Polite Pig And The Polite Pig has reopened both the outdoor and indoor bars. Here’s a peek at the outdoor seating… The Polite Pig Outdoor Bar …and here’s a look at the reopened indoor bar seating! The Polite Pig Indoor Bar We spotted a private barrel bourbon flight on the menu here, so the bar seating could be a great place to give it a try! Check out our review of the NEW menu items at The Polite Pig! So, if you’re looking for a place at Disney Springs to grab a quick drink, these newly reopened bars should give you several options to consider! Looking for something sweet? 6. Tired of rewatching the same old Disney movies or waiting for new stuff to arrive on Disney+? ©Disney We feel ya there! That’s why we’ve decided to crack open some Capri Suns, bust out the Fruit Roll-Ups, and revisit a few of our favorite TV series from the past that are currently streaming on Disney+! Shows like The Mandalorian, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Prop Culture, The Imagineering Story, and One Day at Disney have all been gettin’ some major love! Heck, even WE are rendered completely helpless by The World According to Jeff Goldblum. It’s all we ever wanna watch every time we plop down on our sofas! The World According to Jeff Goldblum ©Disney But here are a few Disney+ shows nobody’s talking about — even though EVERYONE should be! And if you’re an 80s baby, you might be surprised to learn that so many of the shows you grew up with are now streaming on Disney+! Let’s take a look! See which shows we think every ride or die Disney parks fan should watch here! The Simpsons Now you might not associate Bart Simpson’s wisecrack antics with Disney’s more gentle and calm family-friendly programming, but the company acquired 20th Century Fox which is why you can watch 30 seasons of The Simpsons currently on Disney+! The Simpsons ©20th Century Fox Now if you’re a true Homer-aficionado, you might not be in love with the widescreen formatting which tends to cut off some of the screen of the first nearly 20 seasons. Disney has assured us they are currently working on the problem and are hoping to offer a fullscreen version of The Simpsons in the near future! America’s Funniest Videos Long before YouTube or social media were ever a thing, people watched viral videos on a little show called America’s Funniest Home Videos — or AFV for short! AFV ©Disney Bob Saget (the comedian dad who portrayed Danny Tanner on Full House) was the original host of AFV, but you’ll only find nine seasons of America’s Funniest Home Videos on Disney+ and they’re ALL the Tom Bergeron years — from 2002 to 2012! Don’t worry, they’re still totally hilarious and just as dated as you remember them, even if they do lack that Danny Tanner charm! Gargoyles Do you remember the niche cartoon, Gargoyles? It aired from 1994 to 1996 and was a little RISKY by Disney standards! Gargoyles ©Disney But Disney is no stranger to dark stuff (just look at all the wicked villainy that takes place in many classic Disney films!). If you’ve ever wanted to know how 1,000-year-old gargoyles from Scotland cope with modern-day city life in New York after being awoken from a curse, check it out! X-Men Another show you might be surprised to see on Disney+ is the mega-popular 90s X-Men series. Although Disney didn’t play a role in creating the animated show, which loosely follows the Marvel comic books, the show was previously aired on Fox (like The Simpsons). This is how the mutants came to be live on the Disney streaming service. X-Men © Disney If you’ve watched X-Men before, you’ll remember many of the episodes are sequential — playing out like a cartoon soap opera at times with complicated love relationships forming between many of the characters. Next time you’re endlessly scrolling through the Disney+ library for something to watch, how about checkin’ in with your old buds Gambit, Rogue, Cyclops, Beast, Wolverine, Jean Grey, Professor X, and Magneto! Bonkers While The Disney Afternoon had great success with hit shows like DuckTales, Darkwing Duck, and Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers (which are also ALL available on Disney+!), only one season of Bonkers was ever made — which is SAD! Bonkers is and forever shall be one of the most truly under-appreciated Disney shows! Bonkers ©Disney The cartoon aired in 1993 and follows the lovable Bonkers T. Bobcat — a movie star turned comedy cop. We think we love this show as much as we do because it put off some MAJOR Roger Rabbit vibes at times! TaleSpin Remember when The Jungle Book’s Baloo and King Louie got their own cartoon spin-off…flying planes? It was the 90s and it was a glorious time to be alive! TaleSpin ©Disney But just like our friend Bonkers T. Bobcat, Baloo only got to fly the friendly skies for one season. We still can’t get its theme song out of our heads! The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh While the Winnie the Pooh books and movies are classic, we think it was The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh cartoon series that made us fall in love with the silly old bear and his Hundred Acre crew! The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh ©Disney Four seasons of the show were made from 1988 to 1991 and, although Winnie the Pooh’s voice is provided actor Jim Cummings and not Sterling Halloway (the original actor who did a lot of voice work for Disney including Pooh in The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh), it’s still a quality re-watch! Plus, the theme song is a straight-up JAM! Adventures of the Gummi Bears And while we’re on the subject of bears, there’s one final show we can’t fail to mention. The Gummi Bears! Adventures of the Gummi Bears ©Disney Do you remember these guys bouncing here and there and EVERYWHERE, ’cause we sure do! We bet our moms do too because we were usually flying around the room whenever this cartoon was on (pretending we had our very own Gummi Bear Juice, of course!). We’re not sure if we can muster that same level of energy, but we’re still enthusiastic about this great show. Check out all six seasons of Adventures of the Gummi Bears now on Disney+! We love watching these throwback shows on Disney+! It helps to make us feel like a kid again!! Check out which classic Disney TV broadcast will be getting its own movie reboot here! 7. One of the most important accessories to have while walking around Walt Disney World is a backpack, of course, so you can carry everything you need for a day at a theme park. Denim Loungefly Backpack And with Disney World reopening on July 11th, it’s time to stock up on a stylish NEW backpack so you can hit the parks in style! Today, while strolling around World of Disney at Disney Springs, we spotted two new cloth Loungefly backpacks featuring two Disney icons, and they were FLYING off the shelves. We’ve seen a similar style backpack with a castle print, but this was our first time seeing these cuties! New Cloth Loungefly Backpacks at World of Disney The first backpack features the ICONIC Mickey Mouse balloons. This bright blue bag is decked out with stitched-on Mickey balloons in all the colors of the rainbow! The new cloth Mickey Mouse balloon backpack at World of Disney The amount of detail on this bag is insane. The Mickey balloons even have little yellow stitching surrounding them, mimicking the translucent part of the balloon! Mickey balloon Loungefly backpack close-up The second new cloth Loungefly backpack features some of our favorite songbirds from Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room! This emerald green bag has stitched tropical birds all over it, and you can practically hear them serenading you! Enchanted TIki Room Loungefly backpack at World of Disney In addition to a big pocket for your water bottle, wallet, first aid kit, and other park essentials, both bags also feature a smaller front pocket, perfect for a phone charger. Enchanted TIki Room Loungefly backpack up close Both of these Loungfly backpacks cost $75, but they were FLYING off the shelves (like a sad, lost balloon or a rogue tiki bird). A World of Disney Cast Member told us these WILL be back in stock, but didn’t say exactly when, so keep your eyes peeled! And, we’ve got the perfect new merchandise to pair with your Air Hercs! These new Pain and Panic Socks we spotted at the World of Disney in Disney Springs are almost TOO hilarious to pass up! Pain and Panic Socks Hades’ henchmen are decked out in their iconic fuschia and blue colors together as Panic looks a little jittery and Pain, well, he looks like he’s just seen the Fates cut his life thread. Pain and Panic Socks There are even little fuzzy ears on top of the socks (they were going for innocent)… Pain and Panic Socks …and Pain and Panic’s tails on the back that line up if you wear them together. Pain and Panic Socks You can get the Pain and Panic Socks for $14.99, or $11.99 if you buy two pairs of socks at the World of Disney! 12. We’re taking a DEEP collective breath and getting ready to plunge into Disney World once some of the theme parks begin to reopen on July 11th. Magic Kingdom And if you’re still planning on making a trip to Disney World this summer, you may be wondering what changes you can expect. While some of the ways Disney World has adapted to these times will be more obvious than others, here are the five most important differences you should know before you go. Disney World Will Have a Limited Capacity As you’ve possibly heard by now, Disney World will only be allowing a certain number of guests to visit each day. They hope to achieve this by implementing a new reservation system. To put the new system in place, they had to temporarily suspend all ticket sales and aren’t accepting any new reservations at this time. Disney Springs Disney also canceled all previously booked FastPasses, dining reservations, and Disney Dining Plans. The planning functions for each of these offerings have also been frozen until Disney World works out the exact number of guests they’ll be accepting each day. (Note that you CAN now make dining reservations in Disney Springs through the Disney World app.) Once the new reservation system is up and running, guests with valid park admission and a hotel reservation will be given priority access to book theme park reservations. While all of this seems like a lot to take in, Disney CEO Bob Chapek has stated one of the changes will be significantly fewer people inside the parks, meaning possibly much shorter wait times for popular rides. Click HERE to check out our answers to these most important questions our readers are asking us about Disney World. Face Coverings Will Be Mandatory As we’ve already seen implemented at Disney Springs since its May 20th phased reopening, guests over the age of two will be required to wear face masks at all times when visiting the theme parks. Disney World is working on a plan to offer guests “relaxation zones” where they can temporarily remove their masks for a spell. Disney Ambassadors Disney World’s Cast Members are also required to wear face coverings at all times and a new health and safety group has been formed to help navigate guests through all of the guidelines while ensuring everyone is following the rules. They’re called Social Distancing Squads and you can learn more about them here! What happens if I refuse to wear a face mask at Disney World? Find out here! Temperature Screenings Are Also Required for Entry While you’re probably used to walking through a security checkpoint and having your bag screened, you must have your temperature taken using an infrared touchless thermometer before you’ll be allowed inside the parks. Disney’s Hollywood Studios We’ve also seen this implemented at Universal Orlando as well as when entering Disney Springs. AdventHealth employees are conducting the screenings at Disney World and you must have a temperature of 100.4 degrees or lower to enter. If your temperature comes in too high, you’ll be given the opportunity to sit in a cool-down tent for a bit, then recheck your temperature. If your temperature still comes in too high, you AND your party will be asked to leave. Click here to read everything you need to know about temperature checks at Disney World! Eating Will Be Uniquely Different When Disney announced they were canceling all pre-existing dining reservations, they also stated they would be shifting from a 180-day booking window to a 60-day booking window going forward to allow guests to make their plans closer to their visits. 50’s Prime Time Cafe at Hollywood Studios But it’s not just how you’ll make dining reservations that will be different — the whole process of sitting down to enjoy a meal at Disney World has drastically changed. Hostess booths have plexiglass shields while many restaurants are offering contactless check-in, menus, and payment options. Mickey Pretzel Tables are spaced apart or labeled “not for use” while condiments and silverware aren’t being left on the tables anymore at most restaurants. All servers are wearing masks (and usually gloves) while only guests who are seated at a table are able to remove their masks. You can also lower your mask if you’re walking around Disney Springs with a snack or beverage. See PHOTOS of what it’s like to eat in a reopened Disney World restaurant right now! Shopping Poses a Few New Challenges We’ve been checking out some of the retail locations at Disney Springs that have begun to reopen. While many shops have made modifications to their check-out counters such as laying down social distancing markers, installing plexiglass barriers, promoting self-bagging, and providing hand sanitizer for guests, some of the rules tend to vary from store to store. Disney Springs Some businesses have fitting rooms available to guests, but we’ve found many do not. Some stores are only allowing a handful of customers inside at one time with guests queued up outside waiting for their turn to enter. We’ve seen some shops are still allowing guests to test their products (such as Basin), but others like Sephora aren’t. It can be a little tricky to interpret the new set of rules each store has implemented so if you’re unclear about anything, just as ask a cast member in the store! See what it’s like to shop in reopened Disney Springs here! Now that we’ve discussed five of the biggest changes you’ll see at Disney World, here are five MORE things you’ll need to wrap your head around! Guest Experiences May Be Modified Disney World has made this very clear that not all experiences will be offered upon reopening — they’ve posted this information on their website everywhere you turn. Now we finally know what a few of those “modifications” will be. Character dining is temporarily on hold, and Disney World’s water parks aren’t expected to reopen, (at least, not right away). Mickey Mouse In addition fireworks, parades, and character meet and greets being postponed, and Disney World is also revising their park hours. Extra Magic Hours have been halted and some Disney World transportation services (such as the monorail and ferryboats) may be reduced. See what else you WON’T SEE when Disney World reopen here! Disney World is Making Changes to Its Annual Passholder Policies Even bigger changes are being announced for Disney World’s Annual Passholders. There are so many, in fact, that they’ve launched a new webpage to address AP-specific concerns. Walt Disney World Annual Passholder While APs will have a special preview of the theme parks as well as early access to make theme park reservations before the general public does, Annual Passholders will only be allowed to hold a certain number of reserved days at one time. More updates regarding Disney World APs are forthcoming. Read more about the latest Disney World Annual Passholder policy changes here! How Will You Travel to AND Around Disney World As we mentioned earlier, Disney World has already announced some of its transportation services will be limited, but that only covers internal transportation. How will you be planning on getting TO Disney World? Disney’s Magical Express Sign For many travelers who have never considered an alternative to flying, it might make more sense (both financially as well as practically-speaking) to drive instead of fly. Read more about this Disney World shake-up here. Click HERE for the five things you need to know if you’re planning to go to Disney World when the parks reopen! Where Will You Stay at Disney World Planning your trip is even trickier right now since Disney World hotels aren’t currently accepting new reservations and we only know of the Disney Vacation Club resorts that will be reopening June 22nd (Note that Disney Vacation Club members CAN still book new resort reservations at this time). The other Disney World hotels don’t have a confirmed reopening date yet. DIsney’s BoardWalk Inn Disney World originally announced the theme park resort hotels would also be reopening July 11th, but later retracted the statement. What we do know is guests with a current hotel reservation and valid park admission will be given first crack at making reservations once the new system is released. See which Disney World hotels will be reopening June 22nd here! What Time of Year Should You Visit With so much uncertainty still looming, you might be wondering if it’s even worth it to go to Disney World this year. Magic Kingdom Sign It’s a difficult question but you have some alternative options if your previous spring or summer trips were canceled. Booking a trip to Disney World in September has its benefits while November is also a season you should consider. Magic Kingdom Click here to learn more about the times of year you can consider visiting Disney World It’s practically certain that Disney World will be QUITE different when it reopens. But if you’ve done the work of preparing for the unique challenges you’ll be experiencing and have taken every necessary health and safety precaution into consideration, we know Disney World is still committed to providing their guests with a magical experience regardless of the changes they’ve made and will be making in the future! 14. Some of these attractions might not sound cool, but trust us, they’re worth considering next time you go to Disney World! Behold: The PeopleMover While we’re the first ones that will tell you about the hottest new show or attraction at Disney World, we also want to make sure you aren’t quick to write anything off! Some of our favorite rides and experiences are those under-the-radar offerings that, on paper, might sound a little boring! Trust us — you might find yourself falling in love with some of these next time you visit! Rides and Attractions Not every ride in Disney World is going to be as flashy as Rise of the Resistance! These rides and attractions are just as cool, despite the fact that they may sound a little drab. Living With the Land Living With the Land is a slow-moving boat ride in The Land Pavilion in Epcot. Guests are brought through several working greenhouses where you learn about how Disney is developing innovative agricultural methods that yield higher amounts of produce! Living With the Land Boat We know, that might not sound like the most thrilling experience you’ll have while at Disney World, but lots of folks SWEAR by this ride. It’s arguably one of the most relaxing twenty minutes you’ll have on vacation (is it just us or is that first scene where you’re floating through the thunderstorm SO zen?). Living With the Land The catchy old “Listen to the Land” song may not play anymore (in our HEARTS it does!), but this ride is actually really entertaining and offers a chance to see some unique plants you may have never seen! You can even head to neighboring Sunshine Seasons or Garden Grill and eat the food that is grown in those greenhouses! See how Living With the Land plays a key role at the Food and Wine Festival here! Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover Next time you visit Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom, look up! You may notice some very happy and relaxed guests floating by on Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover, or simply The PeopleMover. People Mover! This attraction is often SKIPPED because folks don’t realize that it’s a total gem! We know, it kind of looks and sounds like a glorified escalator (or perhaps those moving walkways you see at airports), but Disney fans know that this is one of the coolest rides in the park! Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland The PeopleMover is a great opportunity to give your feet a break while enjoying a bit of a breeze from up above Tomorrowland. You even get some unique views inside popular Tomorrowland attractions like Space Mountain and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin AND a chance to see Walt Disney’s original model of what would become EPCOT — Progress City. Now, if only The PeopleMover came with a snack stand…we may never leave. We found PeopleMover’s DIARY!! Does it miss us? Find out here! Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress Another “cult classic” attraction at Magic Kingdom that often gets a bad rep’ is Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress. Many see this as only a great spot to take a nap. We aren’t saying they are WRONG, but we strongly encourage you to fight the urge to catch some zzz’s and instead bask in all of its glory! There is so much more to this ride than air conditioning! © Disney To truly appreciate just how cool this attraction is, we have to go way back to the 1964 World’s Fair. That’s when this show first premiered (audio-animatronics and all!), after Walt Disney himself first came up with the concept for Disneyland. Despite the original concept being shelved for Anaheim, it was brought to Florida and it has run continuously at Magic Kingdom since 1975. © Disney While it may seem outdated to some, there’s a certain charm to this all-American family as they traverse through the technological progress of the 20th century! And as Disney prepares for its own 50th Anniversary in 2021, the Carousel of Progress hit its own milestone this year — its 45th anniversary! See what FIFTY things you should do before Disney World turns FIFTY next year! Pandora — The World of Avatar Pandora is one of the coolest places in Disney’s Animal Kingdom for a few reasons. Flight of Passage is a technological wonder, and even its less popular, “calmer” counterpart, Na’vi River Journey, features a jaw-dropping audio-animatronic. Inside Na’vi River Journey Combine those two rides with one of the best counter service locations (Satu’li Canteen) in Animal Kingdom and you’ve got a recipe for a COOL land. But if folks don’t know this, they may only associate Pandora with the film Avatar. Believe it or not, this movie came out eleven years ago. And while there are sequels in the works, the franchise’s relevance over the years has declined. Pandora But there’s a reason both of Pandora’s attractions are Tier One FastPasses. Beyond the rides, the land itself is an Imagineering feat, and it completely transforms from day to night! Even if you weren’t a big fan of the movie, you might fall in love with Pandora – The World of Avatar just like we have over the years! Read more about Pandora – The World of Avatar here! Walking Tours A great way to spend a few hours in the parks is to take a walking tour! Some of these tours can run you a few hundred dollars and take up half of your day, while other tours are much shorter and are pretty affordable! Behind the Seeds Tour Since we just convinced you that Living With the Land is a really cool ride, let’s talk about the walking tour that takes you “behind the SEEDS!” Have you ever been on Living With the Land and spotted a bunch of other guests walking around the greenhouse? They’re on the Behind the Seeds Tour! Behind the Seeds Tour Desk This super fun, super informative tour departs multiple times throughout the day and brings guests into the greenhouses where you get an even MORE in-depth look at the innovative agricultural methods Disney is developing. The tour also includes fun activities, like identifying various spices through smell, feeding fish in their Aquacell, and if you’re lucky, you might even get to taste some of the vegetables grown in the greenhouse for yourself! Mickey Plant on Living With the Land As of June 2, 2020, the cost for Behind the Seeds is $29 per guest. The tour is one hour long, and afterward, you’ll likely want to ride Living With the Land all over again! Learn more about Behind the Seeds here! Disney’s The Magic Behind Our Steam Trains Tour Did you laugh when you read the title of this next tour? We get it, steam trains are…not the coolest things in the world to everyone. If you aren’t a train expert, you may wonder why anyone would ever want to spend a couple of hours listening to someone else talk to them about steam trains. The Walt Disney Railroad On Disney’s The Magic Behind Our Steam Trains Tour, you get to learn all about the locomotives that call Magic Kingdom home! One of the cool things about this tour is that it starts before the park opens to guests — 7:30AM to be exact. That early morning will be worth it, though! Getting into the parks before they open is a super neat experience that is typically reserved for those with early morning tours or dining reservations. Walt Disney Railroad Steam Train “In Residence” at Main Street, U.S.A. Station Because the Magic Kingdom Railroad is currently closed due to the construction of TRON Lightcycle Run, the Magic Behind Our Steam Trains Tour is also currently unavailable. But once things are up and running again, consider booking a tour! The tour costs $54.00 per person and lasts three hours. Learn more about The Magic Behind Our Steam Trains Tour here! Disney’s Yuletide Fantasy The only thing cooler than checking out all of the beautiful holiday decorations is to learn where they are stored the rest of the year, right? Christmas in Magic Kingdom Alright, so maybe on paper Disney’s Yuletide Fantasy tour doesn’t sound like the most thrilling activity to bring the family on, but Christmas aficionados will totally soak in all of the behind-the-scenes logistics of how Disney World is able to pull off the holidays each and every year. Whoever thought LOGISTICS would be so cool? Christmas Decorations on Main Street! The three-hour tour departs from Epcot and brings guests to the Floral Department, as well as Disney Springs where you’re joined by a culinary expert that will help you “whip up” your very own holiday treat! Epcot UK Christmas Tea Topiary Disney’s Yuletide Fantasy is offered on select days in November and December. The cost is $149.00 per guest, and everyone receives a special gift at the end of the tour! In the past, these have been super cute trading pins. Keep in mind that guests must be at least 12 years of age to participate. Yuletide Fantasy Tour Pin If you have the time to spare on your Disney World vacation this holiday season, consider filling that time up with this one-of-a-kind, behind-the-scenes tour! Curious? Learn more about Disney’s Yuletide Fantasy here! Activities Outside of the Parks There’s plenty to see and do outside of the four theme parks. In fact, you’re missing out on some of the best activities Disney has to offer if all you do is go to those main parks. Let’s briefly go over a couple of our favorite things to do when we aren’t standing in line for Slinky Dog Dash or eating the seventh Dole Whip of the day in Adventureland. Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long at The Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort One of the reasons folks love coming to Disney World is that they get to have experiences that they wouldn’t normally get to have at home. So, when given the opportunity to make s’mores by a campfire, a lot of people may decline and hit up the parks for an extra few hours instead. Welcome to Fort Wilderness! And while that’s a totally logical decision, if you find yourself with a free night, you may find that the best vacation memories are made from the simplest of activities! Chip & Dale host a campfire sing-a-long every night at The Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Lodge. While the event is FREE (and free is cool!), you do need to purchase s’mores supplies from the Chuckwagon Snack Bar, or you can bring your own ingredients. It’s certainly cheaper than dinner in the parks! Benches where you can enjoy a movie under the stars! And once it’s dark, cuddle up under a blanket and enjoy a movie under the stars! There are plenty of benches for you to use, or you can bring your own chairs. There are actually TONS of cool activities at Fort Wilderness to do on your “day off” from the parks, like horseback riding, hiking, and more! Check out all of the restaurants at Fort Wilderness and make a whole day out of it! The VOID at Disney Springs Our last activity that is way cooler than it sounds is The VOID. At first glance, it’s really hard to tell exactly what goes on in The VOID. Are you in a void? What do you do in this void? The Void in Disney Springs ©Disney The VOID is actually one of the coolest activities you and your family can take part in at Disney Springs. This highly interactive virtual reality experience hooks you up for fifteen minutes to these helmet-mounted machines that really make you feel like you are IN the action! And it’s not just any action — you can embark on your very own Star Wars or Wreck it Ralph themed adventure! The Void ©Disney Prices range from $35-$40 per guest depending on which experience you choose, and you have to believe us when we say that it is TOTALLY worth the cost! We’ll leave it up to you to decide if it’s cooler than Rise of the Resistance. The VOID is also available at Downtown Disney in Anaheim! Learn more about it here! What’s considered “cool” in Disney World is totally up to you! Some folks agree that the high-speed, thrilling attractions are the coolest things in the parks, while others are totally mesmerized by the special exhibits and behind-the-scenes tours that Disney provides. No matter what your definition of “cool” is, we hope that this gave you some ideas on new things to try next time you visit Disney World! What is your favorite thing in Disney World that others might not think is “cool”? Argue why you think it is the coolest thing in Disney World in the comments! 15. We all know how much fun you can have on a Disney World vacation, but is it all just a trick of the mind? Cinderella Castle Believe it or not, Disney is working some EXTRA behind-the-scenes magic you might not even be aware of! Leave it to Disney World to always have a few tricks up its sleeve — after all, Sorcerer Mickey does live there! It’s Mickey! Let’s examine a few of the head games Disney likes to play, shall we? Disney Knows A LOT About Color Theory If you haven’t worked for Disney (or any major company that knows a thing or two about advertising such as McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, Target, etc), you might not realize the role color plays in influencing consumers’ emotions and decisions. Have you ever felt an inexplicable burst of emotion at the Disney parks such as happiness, excitement, or hunger? (Well, who hasn’t?!) Night Blossom at Pongu Pongu But still, you might be totally surprised by how most people experience the same emotional reactions to certain colors. Disney knows this and they also know how to use it to their benefit at the parks! It’s time to whip out your color wheels, cause we’re going to break down why Disney uses certain colors! Red The sidewalks and bricks when you enter Magic Kingdom are red because back in the early days of Disneyland, Walt Disney wanted to subtly signal to guests they were rolling out a red carpet for guests! (It also looks great in pictures with a blue sky!) The color red is known to elicit an excited response when people see it. Most people associate red with love, excitement, and passion. It’s also one of the most naturally appealing colors to children (maybe why a certain Mouse duo sport the color so much)! Cups of Water Ready to Take Since red and green are opposites on the color wheel you’ll notice red used a lot to make natural green elements appear more vibrant and lush. Look down in World Showcase at Epcot — the ground is a shade of red to make everything green pop! Red has also another superpower — it has been scientifically proven to make people hungry when they see it! Casey’s Corner Your body physically reacts to the color, causing your heart rate to increase, which speeds up your blood flow — resulting in hunger! Next time you’re dining at the Disney parks, try to spot all the red accents in the room (Casey’s Corner is a good place to start!). Click here to see more of our favorite Quick Service spots in Disney World Yellow, Pink, and Orange Disney also knows which colors that are scientifically proven to make people happy — that’s why you’ll usually see TONS of vibrant colors like yellows, pinks, and oranges in lots of Disney’s foods and attractions! Popcorn Makes us HAPPY and Now We Know Why! These colors are known to create a sense of excitement and optimism, so you’ll also see these bright, poppy colors used for parade floats, costumes, and other celebrations. Check out the costume Mickey wore during his 90th-anniversary — it features TONS of happiness-inducing hues! Mickey’s Ready to Celebrate With You! These happy colors also have been shown to make people think positive, cheery thoughts! Bright colors like orange and yellow in particular can make people feel energized — something all of us could use a little more of at the Disney parks! Dole Whip But did you know that when we’re happy and energized, we’re more likely to loosen our purse strings? That’s right — these colors can also make you want to impulsively spend some EXTRA money! Look for them next time you’re browsing a gift shop in Disney World! Click here to see inside the newly reopened World of Disney store! Greens and Blues Greens and blues tend to have a calming effect on people. You’ll see LOTS and LOTS of these shades being used where Disney wants you to chill out. Look for them in queue areas — they even use green and blue throughout their Baby Care Centers and First Aid Centers that are located inside the theme parks. Magic Kingdom Baby Care Center Green is known to reduce anxiety, while blues are commonly associated with promoting a sense of security and has been known to reduce appetites (you might not spot this one TOO much at your favorite quick-service spots!). You’ll Spot LOTS of Calming Blues and Greens Inside Na’vi River Journey But green serves another purpose in at the Disney parks. You might have heard of the term “Go Away Green” if you have any Disney Cast Member friends. It’s a term that refers to a particular shade of green that is so unnoticeable, it tends to make things Disney doesn’t want you to see “blend in” with the background! It’s used to hide utility boxes, Cast Member doors to backstage areas, and even construction projects the size of Space 220 Restaurant! Space 220 Construction See if you can spot some stuff Disney doesn’t want you to see next time you visit the parks! Check out the latest construction of Epcot’s Space 220 Restaurant here! Purple Purple is a color that invokes a sense of creativity and imagination. Ever wondered why that lovable dragon in Epcot, Figment, bears the purple hue? He is quite literally a “figment of imagination” and lives in the Imagination Pavilion, after all! Figment! Interestingly, purple also can represent spirituality including GHOSTS! Wonder why so many of the Disney Villains and the Haunted Mansion bear the hue so often? The color can quite literally represent the otherworldly! Check out our ultimate guide to Disney Villains After Hours parties at Magic Kingdom here! Next time you’re in Disney World, look around and consider how all the colors are working together to influence your thoughts. Even just look at Mickey Mouse — he’s decked out in the colors that evoke excitement and happiness — so you basically can’t help but smile when you meet Mickey! That’s how Disney tricks our MINDS, but, now let’s examine how Disney plays tricks with our EYES! Forced Perspective We’re throwing all sorts of new terminology at you, but even if you’re not a professional artist, the theory behind “forced perspective” is pretty simple. It’s a way of tricking a person’s eye into thinking something is taller or further away than it actually is, and Disney has mastered this technique over the years! Magic Kingdom This is normally achieved by the use of scale and special painting effects — all of which Disney’s highly trained staff of scenic artists excel at. Why Disney Uses Forced Perspective The Disney parks are only SO big, so Disney has only a finite amount of space to create its different “worlds” and “lands.” You’ll see forced perspective being utilized all over the parks — even the buildings on Main Street, U.S.A. have smaller windows on their second and third stories. It’s a barely noticeable detail to the naked eye, but it makes the buildings seem MUCH taller than they actually are! Candy Palace at Disneyland Disney also utilizes this technique on its castles — next time you visit Magic Kingdom, take a look at how the “bricks,” windows, and roof shingles appear much smaller towards to top of Cinderella Castle’s towers. It draws the eye upwards, creating a taller-looking castle! Cinderella Castle Makeover Progress This little trick was also used when Sleeping Beauty Castle was refurbished last year. The blue spires of Disneyland’s iconic pink castle (which is MUCH shorter than Cinderella Castle) received a special paint job — the bases were painted a darker blue hue that lightened towards the top to make the castle appear to have some extra height. You’ll notice the pink color also gets lighter the higher up you go as well! Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle Disney World’s Cinderella Castle is in the middle of receiving the same style makeover! The pink on the body of the castle will be darker and more saturated the lower you look, and the blue of the spires will too! Some of our other favorite places to admire Disney’s use of this special painting technique are the rock formations at Disney California Adventure’s Cars Land… Cars Land at Disney California Adventure …as well as the floating mountains of Mo’ara in Pandora: The World of Avatar located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom! Pandora – The World of Avatar These scenic elements seem much further away than they actually are thanks to Disney’s expert team of painters. These visual tricks transform our whole experience as guests by making us feel more immersed in the story Disney is trying to tell. Even More Ways Disney World Tricks Our Senses Reverse Forced Perspective In Epcot’s American Adventure Pavilion in World Showcase, Disney actually utilizes a technic called “reverse forced perspective” which is the exact opposite of what we just talked about! They used this to make a large building appear SMALLER! American Adventure Colonial Era buildings were only typically 2-stories tall, yet the three and a half story building needed to be larger to house the theater inside. Imagineers scaled windows on the top floors larger than on the ground floor to make the building appear much smaller than it actually is! Speaking of the American Adventure, take a look at the BBQ at the NEW Regal Eagle Smokehouse! Hiding Construction The last thing Disney wants to do is bum you out on your vacation with all the stuff you CAN’T enjoy, so that’s why you’ll often see temporary barricades and construction walls (along with that good ol’ Go Away Green) covering up the stuff they’re working on. Construction Wall for Rodeo Roundup Barbecue Disney even covers up buildings they’re working on with covers printed to look like the buildings they’re covering! Talk about a total mind-bender! Snow White’s Scary Adventures Construction Maybe they think if you squint real hard, you won’t be able to tell the difference! It does make for better photos, though! Click here to see some of these covers in action in Magic Kingdom Nothing “Out of Place” and How Sightlines Work How badly would it ruin the illusion to see a Haunted Mansion Cast Member in Tomorrowland or a Jungle Cruise Skipper in Fantasyland? Have you ever noticed how this NEVER seems to happen? Disney does this intentionally for its guests so that nothing pulls you away from the fully-immersive experience they’re trying to create. Haunted Mansion You’ll also notice how it’s almost impossible to see from one land to another — and that’s thanks to A LOT of strategic planning! If you’re standing inside Adventureland, don’t expect to see any elements of Main Street U.S.A. or Frontierland, even though they’re right next door! Disneyland’s Adventureland This is most notably seen with the Tower of Terror in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. When the tall attraction was being dreamed up, Imagineers knew the structure would be visible from Epcot. Imagineers designed the color and architecture of the tower so that if viewed from Epcot’s World Showcase, it appears to blend right in with the Morocco Pavilion! Tower of Terror If you’re ever at Disney World and see what looks like giant colored balloons floating in the sky over a certain location, these are testing sightlines! Imagineers can go near and far around the location to see how the planned attraction will impact the views of the area! Not sure what you guys think, but we’re pretty impressed with all the crazy ways Disney messes with our brains. Next time you suddenly crave a hot dog when you stroll down Main Street, or find yourself rushing to buy that merch you didn’t know you needed, now you’ll know partially what’s to blame (or maybe you’re just hungry!). We hope we’ve given you a lot of cool new stuff to be on the lookout for next time you visit the Disney parks! What’s your favorite illusion at the Disney parks? Let us know in the comments below! 17. It’s no secret that phones are pretty pricey, and we’re always looking for new ways to keep our phones safe without sacrificing on style. And we don’t have to spell it out for you, Disney usually has some ADORABLE phone cases! Luckily for us, a new D-Tech phone case allows us to secure our devices while still looking cute! We’ve previously covered the pretty mugs and the adorably designed trinket boxes from the ABCDisney Collection, and we were pumped to spot a new product in the line at Disney Springs! Matterhorn Bobsleds Mug Stopping by the D-Tech on Demand kiosks at the Marketplace Co-Op store in Disney Springs, we noticed the new ABCDisney phone cases, with TONS of personalization options! Personalization Station You can choose from a variety of beautifully illustrated alphabet designs to adorn your phone. Animated Movie Options And a closer look shows the detailed designs. The Enchanted Tiki Room design is adorably adorned with exotic birds while the Tomorrowland case is — dare we say it — out of this world :). Close-up look at the personalization options There are a few different options when it comes to personalization. Depending on your taste (and initials) you have the ability to choose between adding a name to the case or leaving it blank. The Haunted Mansion style might just be one of our favorites, featuring the Hitchhiking Ghosts and an H adorned with a mystifying design. Name Options Pricing is currently set at $29.99 and up, with personalization costing an extra $5. A look at the pricing The ABCDisney Collection features super cute monogram items that are great gifts (even if that gift just so happens to be for yourself!), and these phone cases look like they live up to the quality that we’ve come to expect from the awesome products we’ve covered in the past. 18. There are a LOT of reasons we can’t wait to visit the Walt Disney World theme parks again when they reopen on July 11th. In addition to all the rides and treats, we’ve even been missing the little things, like rocking our MagicBands! MagicBands While there is NO shortage of fun MagicBand colors and styles, right before the parks reopen, there’s a royally GORGEOUS new shade on the block! Today, we spotted a new color of MagicBand at World of Disney in Disney Springs…Magenta! New MagicBands at World of Disney The new solid color MagicBand costs $14.99. It reminds us of similar rich MagicBand colors, like dark green, dark gray, and navy. New MagicBand display at World of Disney The bold, rich shade reminds us a little bit of some of our favorite Disney queens and villains — think Anna from Frozen or the OG villain, The Evil Queen from Snow White. ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex Yesterday, we found out more about the potential dates and arrangements for the NBA at Disney and what teams would likely be joining the league at the Orlando resort. The coming weeks will have the two organizations working out some details as they move towards a July 31st resumption of the season. 20. Just moments ago we reported that Amorette’s Patisserie had officially reopened in Disney Springs! Amorette’s And while they only have a limited menu right now (they hope to be fully operational by Sunday), we noticed they’ve made few price increases on some of their alcoholic beverages! When we stopped by Amorette’s Patisserie earlier today, we snapped this pic of their menu and we compared some of their items to their pre-closure prices, we noticed a few discrepancies! Amorette’s Menu While Taittinger by the bottle still costs $80 (this place is fancy FANCY!) the champagne served by the glass is now $18 instead of $17. Amorette’s other bubbly, Iron Horse Fairy Tale Celebration, is still $38 by the bottle but has gone up to $18 from $15 by the glass. Wine Slushy Machines at Amorette’s Patisserie Banfi Rosa Regale Sparkling Red is still $31 by the bottle, but now costs $16 by the glass instead of its former $13. Nino Franco Rustico Prosecco is also still $28 by the bottle but $12 by the glass — a dollar extra. Lastly, their Wilson Creek Almond Sparkling Wine has gone up from $39 to $45 by the bottle and from $9 to $11 by the glass. Amorette’s Patisserie Those are all the items Amorette’s Patisserie has raised its prices on so far — we’ll be sure to let you know if we spot any more increases! One of our favorite Disney Springs just reopened! Find out which one here! Do you enjoy visiting Amorette’s Patisserie on your visits to Disney Springs? Let us know in the comments below! 21. It has been an exciting day at Universal Studios now the theme parks are open to the general public! Hogsmeade And believe it or not, the crowds haven’t been too bad today! We’re not sure what sort of wizardry is at work, but we’ll take all the extra elbow room we can get in Hogsmeade right about now! The line for Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure was noticeably more subdued as we waited for our chance to ride! We had reserved a spot in the virtual line this morning using the Universal app, but there was still a short wait! Line for Hagrids’ Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure But alas! Just as it was almost time to embark on our adventure, the ride broke down! Since no one knew when the attraction would be up, the crowd dispersed. Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure But just when all hope seemed lost, we received a push notification…and WHAT WAS THIS?! Universal sent us a one-time use Express Pass for our troubles! Screenshot of Universal App That’s right — the QR Code for a single-use Express Pass (which is a feature Universal guests usually have to pay for) magically showed up on our device. Similar to Disney’s Multi-Experience Fast Passes (which Cast Members sometimes issue to guests when things don’t work out quite right) this was Universal’s way of saying, “Sorry for the trouble!” Unfortunately, the Express Pass wasn’t available for every attraction, but it was awesome to be able to walk up to any ride at any time and use it whenever we wanted! Screenshot of Universal App We can’t guarantee Univeral is giving out these one-time Express Passes every time a ride breaks down or if we just got lucky today! Either way, we wanted to share this little tip with you so you could be prepared just in case this happens to you! Check out 6 things we learned from attending Universal’s reopening here! 23. During our stroll through the Town Center of Disney Springs today, we paid a visit to the newly reopened Kate Spade New York! Kate Spade New York in Disney Springs The location has been offering store-front pickup prior to today, but now guests are invited to enter the store once again! Of course, as is the case at all the shops and restaurants throughout Disney Springs, new health measures are in place to keep guests and cast members safe. Doors at Kate Spade Signs posted on the door remind visitors to please keep on their mask and to stay 6 feet apart. (You’ll see these before spying the bright “Live Colorfully” sign peeking at you from inside.) Doors at Kate Spade And guests are kindly thanked for their patience if they encounter a brief wait outside since the store is limiting the number of guests inside the shop to maintain physical distancing. Door signage at Kate Spade “Keep six feet apart (but you’re always close to our heart)” are the distancing reminders you’ll spot in markers along the floor. Distance Markers We also noticed hand sanitizer available for shoppers. Hand sanitizer And, hey, while we’re here… Jewelry at Kate Spade … let’s have a look around, shall we? 24. With the reopening of Disney World parks set for July 11th, a lot of folks with June reservations have been left in limbo. Polynesian Resort Lobby Shortly after the official announcement of a reopening date, Disney’s hotel reservations and ticket sales systems went dark so Disney could begin to implement their new reservation system. That meant no new reservations and no modifications to existing reservations. For many folks who just wanted to reschedule their June reservations, that was frustrating. Well, now Disney is allowing guests with check-in dates prior to June 21st to call and modify their reservations. As of right now, anyone with existing reservations between now and June 21st can call Guest Services at (407) 934-7639 to modify their reservation. The ONLY locations that you can currently rebook for are Disney Vacation Club Deluxe Villas and Fort Wilderness Cabins. Bay Lake Tower Wherever your original reservation was, you can reschedule for one of these locations but you will need to pay the difference in price if you choose to do so. If you take no action to modify at this time, your reservations prior to June 22nd will be automatically canceled. Fort Wilderness Cabin ©Disney We know this is a big change, so if you have any questions please let us know and we will do our best to get those answers for you! We’ll be keeping a close eye on developments with the reservation system at Disney so keep up with DFB for all the latest updates. 25. We know you guys have a lot of questions about the Universal Studios theme parks grand reopening today! Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure Queue So far, we’ve been running around to give you guys some perspective on what it was like arriving at the parks as well as how the crowds have been today! And while we’re finally starting to get the hang of using new Universal’s virtual line system, we noticed something we wanted to share with you guys as we disembarked from Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure — a sectioned off rider swap area! Rider Swap at Universal We can finally confirm Universal is continuing to use rider swap. If you’re not familiar with this term, it’s where one person waits in line while another person stays outside with a small child (or guest who doesn’t want/isn’t able to ride the attraction). Once the first person rides, they can then “swap” with their partner, and the second person doesn’t have to wait in line again! Disney World also permits rider switch, so we’re interested to see if they will continue to offer this once the parks reopen. Click here to learn how Universal’s virtual lines work! Rider Swap at Universal We spoke with a Universal employee who said folks who want to use rider swap will each need to have their own virtual line reservation, so make sure you book a party of two when you reserve your ride time! Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure We’ll be on the look-out for which attractions are offering rider swap since Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure is the first attraction we’ve seen with it! See what it’s like to wear a mask on some of Universal’s rides here! Are you excited Universal is still offering rider swap? Let us know in the comments below!
