  1. We can’t believe 22 NBA teams will be traveling to Disney World to finish their 2019-2020 season. It’s really HAPPENING! NBA Experience at Disney World And to get Disney and sports fans extra-fired up out the 88 “seeding games” (you can view the full schedule here) ESPN has just shared some fun logos we think you’ll enjoy! @pkairdesigns, an artist and self-proclaimed “sneakerhead” has decided to make a few new “Disney-fied” logos for the visiting NBA teams! ESPN scooped them up and added them to their Insta today including this adorable Utah Jazz logo featuring Pluto jammin’ on a saxophone! ©ESPN The Denver Nuggets logo has also been doctored up — with DOC! We love how the artist also added the Seven Dwarfs to the side of the mountain! Does this mean the players might be singing “Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho, it’s off to the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex we go?” ©ESPN Tigger has become the adopted Disney mascot for the Pheonix Suns thanks to his rather sunny disposition! ©ESPN Meanwhile, Mickey Mouse will be repping for the Boston Celtics. Looks like they really lucked out with landing the main MOUSE! ©ESPN Mavs fans can rejoice over their new logo featuring Bullseye! We always thought the Dallas Mavericks were big fans of Buzz and Woody! ©EPSN We bet Milwaukee Bucks player (and HUGE Disney dude) Robin Lopez will get a kick out of his team’s new Bambi logo. ©ESPN It looks like another Toy Story character has been drafted. Toronto Raptors has a reimagined logo featuring Rex! Must be hard to dribble with such tiny arms! ©ESPN The Portland Trail Blazers will be putting on their super suits soon. How awesome would it be if they actually added The Incredibles on their jerseys?! Pretty incredible if you ask us! ©ESPN Winne the Pooh has lent his likeness to the Memphis Grizzlies! He looks more adorable than threatening! ©ESPN And last but not least, Ariel will be flipping her fins as the Miami Heat’s mascot! ©ESPN We gotta say, we thought the best thing we could hope to see when we found out the NBA would be playing the rest of its games at Disney World was Mickey Mouse wearing some sweatbands and a pair of basketball shorts — which, btw, we’re still hoping to see! But we love seeing what this artist has come up with so far! Here’s hoping they have a few more Disney design ideas up their sleeve for the rest of the NBA team logos! 5. Disney World is busy making preparations to reopen its theme parks. So far they’ve started testing transportation and recalling Cast Members. Spaceship Earth And last week we learned that Disney would be asking some of its equity performers to return soon to begin rehearsals. Disney World was in talks with Actors’ Equity Association and was hoping to resume rehearsals soon. But according to Deadline, it appears the two parties are at a bit of impasse. The executive committee of Actors’ Equity Association has unanimously rejected Walt Disney World’s plan for the safety of its members due to the absence of testing in the proposal. Epcot In a memo sent to its members, the association said testing “has only become more important over the last week. Since our public call last week for testing, there have been more than 43,000 new coronavirus cases in Florida.” At this time, Disney World hasn’t recalled any Equity members to work, and Equity’s leadership is asking its members to speak out about the importance of testing on their social media platforms. Broadway is set to remain dark until 2021. Get the latest news here. Do you think Disney World should agree to testing for their performers? Let us know in the comments below. 6. Heigh-HOOOOOOO! One of my all-time favorite moments of any Disney attraction happens aboard Seven Dwarfs Mine Train inside Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida … but more on that in a moment. This rustic mine train in New Fantasyland takes you inside the world of the classic Disney film “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.” With your creaky cart teetering back and forth, you feel the wind on your face as you navigate dips and turns before eventually arriving at the lovable dwarfs’ mine. As you chug through the cavern, you get to see them at work (most of them, anyway … looking at you, Sleepy!), collecting colorful gems. And then as you reach the bottom of an incline leading out of the mine, all the dwarfs’ voices coalesce to sing their famous “Heigh-ho!” chorus. It is such a beautiful moment that literally surrounds you, their voices echoing off the walls and seemingly buoying your train up the climb out of the mine. It gives me chills every time. In this new “Ride & Learn” video, whistle while you work on discovering all sorts of fascinating facts about Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, one of the most popular attractions in all of Walt Disney World Resort. I’m looking forward to experiencing it again in person real soon when Magic Kingdom Park begins its phased reopening July 11. 7. Governments around the country are still grappling with the best way to handle the current global health crisis. Hollywood Sign Just days after the delay of the reopening of Disneyland, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced that 19 California counties, including Orange County (Disneyland’s location), will be impacted by an action that ceases all indoor operations for certain sectors. News of the action came today during a press conference with the Governor. All restaurants, wineries and tasting rooms, movie theaters, family entertainment centers, zoos, and museums and cardrooms in the 19 impacted counties must close their indoor operations. Orange County is included in the impacted counties. Impacted Counties The action also includes the total closure of bars in all 19 counties. Newsom went on to urge that citizens not gather with anyone outside of their household. Parking areas at state beaches will be closed as well and Newsom encouraged the cancelation of 4th of July fireworks in impacted counties. ©The Sun The action will extend for at least the next three weeks. Do note that outdoor dining and operations are not prohibited at this time so if a business can move their operations outdoors (such as with outdoor dining space), they can remain open. An empty Downtown Disney It is not yet clear how this action will impact the reopening of Downtown Disney, currently slated for July 9th. We spoke with Governor Newsom’s office and they explained that since Disneyland was not specifically mentioned, they don’t know whether it is included. We also spoke with Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes, a location in Downtown Disney. They explained that they couldn’t legally talk about how the action affected them but that Downtown Disney is still aiming to open on July 9th. Black Tap As of right now, we don’t have a definitive answer on Downtown Disney — but we’re investigating for you. Stay tuned to DFB for more updates about how this action affects Disneyland. 8. There’s a lot of moving and shaking happening at Disney World right now as the theme parks’ phased reopening approaches. Can you believe it’s less than two weeks away?! Disney’s Skyliner Earlier today, we learned when guests can expect to ride Disney World’s monorail and Skyliner gondola system. And thanks to a reader, it looks like we might know more details regarding Disney World’s ferryboats soon! We’d like to give a big shout out to @always_amanda79 for sending us these photos of Disney World testing out its ferryboats on Seven Seas Lagoon today! Ferryboat Testing So far, Disney World’s ferryboat service is still shrouded in mystery. We don’t know when they’ll be coming back and Disney has only told us ferryboats may be limited, but that’s pretty much all the info they’ve shared. Ferryboat Testing But, today, Disney was testing these guys out. We will be interested to see if they reopen with Magic Kingdom so that Disney can help disperse guests when helping them get into the park. And while we did find out Disney’s Wilderness Lodge’s boats would resume on July 11th, it looks like one has pulled into the dock a little early. It’s not quite ready to take guests out across the Seven Seas Lagoon just yet, but we’ll be looking forward to enjoying our first boat ride soon. Disney’s Wilderness Lodge We’ll continue showing you all the ways Disney World is getting ready to welcome back guests, but in the meantime, did you know Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf has reopened too? 9. Now that the new McDonald’s location has just debuted at Disney World, we know where to find a fast Chicken Nuggies fill-up! Speedway But if you’re looking for some bubbling crude (but more likely its derivative, gasoline) to put in your family’s roadster, you’ll be happy to know the Speedway gas station next to Disney’s BoardWalk Inn has reopened too! If you find yourself running on empty during your visit to Disney World, the Speedway gas station is one of the most convenient spots on property to get you back on the road with a full tank of gas in no time! They also have a convenience shop loaded with snacks and beverages in case your body could use a refueling as well. Speedway We spotted this sign posted on the door at Speedway today stating its new hours (7AM to 11PM daily) which also mentioned a few of its enhanced health and safety protocols. Due to Orange County’s recent order mandating face masks, all guests must wear a face-covering inside the store. Speedway’s Safety Guidelines And while you’re filling up your tank, don’t forget to look UP! Hopefully, you’ll get to see some of Disney’s Skyliner gondolas whizzing by! They aren’t carrying any passengers quite yet, but they will be starting on July 15th! Speedway Get the latest news regarding Disney World’s transportation here! This gas station is heavily frequented by both Cast Members and guests alike, so it’s convenient to have more options for filling up your tank on property again. 11. While we originally weren’t expecting any of Disney World’s miniature golf courses to reopen any time soon, Disney always likes to keep us on our toes! Fantasia Gardens Previously, they stated mini-golf would most-likely be unavailable to resort guests during Disney World’s phased reopening while Standard golf and FootGolf would remain open, but like so many things right now, it appears they changed their minds! Although Winter Summerland at Blizzard Beach remains closed, Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf has recently reopened! Let’s check out the course to see what safety modifications they’ve made! Temperature Screening Sign First of all, you’ll need to have your temperature taken to make your way onto the fairway! Face masks must also be worn by all guests (ages two and up) for the entire duration of their stay. Heath and Safety Guidelines Sign If there’s a line at the temperature checkpoint, there’s some covered and uncovered seating along with water provided for guests. Benches have socially distanced while some seating areas may have “not available” markers if they’re closed off for guests. Fantasia Gardens Just like Disney Springs, AdventHealth workers are performing the temperature screenings using touchless thermometers. Temperature Screening There are two family-friendly 18-hole courses at Fantasia Gardens. The Gardens Course is open daily from 10AM to 10PM while the Fairway Course (the more-challenging course) opens a 10AM and closes an hour earlier at 9PM. Fantasia Gardens We were allowed to choose which course we wanted to play, and since it’d been a while since we putted (although we’ve been watching lots of Holey Moley), we went with the Gardens Course! Gardens Course Health and Safety reminder signage was featured predominantly throughout the course played and we noticed most of the trash cans had their lids propped open. Trash Can and Safety Signage Some of the holes had their own portable hand washing stations, too! They’re similar to the ones we’ve already seen at Disney World where you pump the water with your foot. Hand Wash Station Of course, we had to take some time to appreciate all the scenic beauty Fantasia Gardens has to offer! It’s almost like stepping foot inside the movie at times! It’s Yen Sid! We love all the sculptures of hippos, alligators, and elephants! Not to mention each hole is just challenging-enough without making us wanna pull a Happy Gilmore. Fantasia Gardens Getting a hole-in-one at Fantasia Gardens is our agenda for the day, so you know where to find us now that mini-golf is back in play at Disney World! 12. The Disney World area is slowly reopening — and that includes some third party hotels. Four Seasons Resort Orlando Last month, we got the news that the Four Seasons Orlando resort would be reopening in July. Sure enough, the Four Seasons opened today with a bunch of new health and safety measures to boot. Let’s take a look! According to Fox 35 Orlando, Four Seasons has implemented their new Lead with Care initiative to help guide their protocols during the reopening. The initiative includes intensified cleaning and sanitizing, appointing a Hygiene Officer to supervise measures, retraining housekeeping staff, and implementing new technologies. Four Seasons Resort Orlando Pool There are some measures more focused on the guest experience as well. All rooms come with a Lead with Care kit that includes masks, hand sanitizer, and wipes. There are physical distancing measures being implemented, reduced capacities, contactless delivery and ordering, and offerings in the Four Seasons app. When speaking on the new measures, Four Seasons President of Global Operations Christian Clerc said, “While the Four Seasons experience may look different in this new environment, it will ultimately feel the same – our dedicated people will continue to deliver the same intuitive service and personalized care for which Four Seasons is known and trusted the world over.” Stairwell to the lobby We experienced the updated dining experience at Four Seasons for ourselves when it first reopened! 13. It ain’t easy being green, but Disney World’s new McDonald’s makes it look pretty EFFORTLESS! McDonald’s The former McDonalds on Disney World property shut its doors back in October to undergo a major renovation. The new location originally planned on opening sometime in March, but let’s just say their timeline got a little waylaid. Now, the new McDonald’s is finally OPEN, so let’s go check it out! We’ve been closely monitoring the construction of the new Mickey D’s since its predecessor was demolished last year. The new location is much LARGER than the previous McDonald’s, plus this newer model comes fully-equipped with lots of eco-friendly bells and whistles! Solar Panels Outside of McDonald’s In addition to a bigger dining room, the new McDonald’s features an enormous outdoor seating area. Solar panel awnings provide guests with some shade while collecting energy to fuel the restaurant! Outdoor Patio Believe it or not, the new McDonald’s runs ENTIRELY on energy provided by Florida’s SUN! You’ll see little markers throughout the restaurant with facts about solar energy so you can learn something while enjoying your Big Mac attack! Marker There’s even an interactive element to the new Mickey D’s — you’ll find some stationary bikes off to the side, and if you pedal them fast enough, you’ll light up the iconic Mickey D’s sign! Sign Outside McDonald’s Now we’re sooooo happy we’ve been doing all of those virtual spin classes at home these last few months! We can really feel the burn! Stationary Bike There’s also a hand bike for those with better upper body strength than us. Hand Bike The new McDonalds still has a drive-thru so you can get your food without leaving your car. Drive Thru There are multiple pick up windows that span one entire wall of the restaurant. McDonald’s drive-thru is pretty popular with a lot of guests who are either heading to the parks or are on their way home and just need a quick bite or drink! Drive Thru The pretty much covers the exterior of the new McDonald’s, so now it’s time to head inside. We noticed this enhanced safety measures sign posted on the door which states McDonald’s is conducting wellness and temperature checks of its employees, while they’re also requiring all workers to wear face coverings and gloves. Due to Orange County’s order mandating face masks must be worn in public areas, guests must wear face coverings until they’re seated at the restaurant. Then they’re allowed to remove them to enjoy their meal. McDonald’s Sign We noticed some nifty foot pedals had been installed at the entrance… Foot Pedal You press down on the pedal with your foot so that you don’t have to touch a door handle! Door Pedal Once inside, we noticed several hand sanitizer stations had been set up in case you wanted to disinfect! We liked the “free gift” gimmick they were advertising it as! Hand Sanitizer Guests can use kiosks to place their orders and pay for their food. You can also use McDonald’s free app or, if you prefer, you can walk up to the counter and order your items the old-fashioned way. The choice is up to you! Kiosks You’ll either take an order number or be handed one if you place your order with a McDonald’s team member. Then you take it to your table and an employee will bring your food out to you. Table Some of the tables were unavailable and had markers indicating guests should find somewhere else to sit. We also saw if we forgot to order something or were still hungry, there was a QR code we could scan to order more food without getting up! Table Unavailable Several tables had built-in tablets, although none of the touchscreens were active when we stopped by. Table And while the restaurant is equipped with self-service fountain drinks, the beverage bar is currently closed to guests. Fountain Drinks To get a refill, you can ask a McDonald’s team member at the counter for a fill-up! Closed Sign And now that we’ve got our Happy Meal in hand and have had the chance to explore the new McDonalds after many days of waiting, we’re feeling pretty happy ourselves! Happy Meal If you’re looking for a fast (and CHEAP!) meal on your way to or fro from the Disney parks, Disney World’s new McDonald’s is fully operational — and pretty neato, too! 19. Prior to the grand opening of EPCOT back in 1982, I was patiently waiting to see Spaceship Earth at night. We all knew even then what an iconic symbol that massive geosphere would be for Walt Disney World Resort, but I wanted to see it for myself. It did not disappoint. I took this photo the very first time Spaceship Earth lit up at night, and the way the light bounced off the geodesic panels was amazing (then and now). And then to top it off, we had a fantastic full moon that night, as well – a bit of Disney magic! So to capture both those icons in all their glory in one image, I decided to try using a multiple exposure technique. Back then, we didn’t have digital imaging software (or digital cameras, for that matter). If I wanted a multiple exposure, I had to create it in the camera itself on a single frame of film – the definition of “old school.” Working on a tripod, I attached a super-telephoto 400mm lens to the camera to capture the moon. Then, I pressed a button on the camera that would not advance the film when I clicked the shutter. I then switched back to a wide-angle lens to capture Spaceship Earth on that same frame. Because it was all on film, I had no idea if it worked until I returned to my darkroom the next day and developed the shot. Wow, how times have changed! Lucky for me, this experiment turned out pretty well, and proved to me just how fantastic Disney icons look under celestial bodies – a motif I’ve played with over the course of my nearly four decades as a Disney photographer. 22. As Downtown Disney gets ready to welcome back guests on July 9th, the reopening of Disneyland’s theme parks and hotels have been pushed back. Chocolate-Vanilla Twist Soft Serve! And now, the city of Anaheim (where Disneyland Resort is located) has just issued a citywide face-covering requirement for all residents and visitors. Due to a surge in cases, New Jersey and New York added California to their travel advisory yesterday. The executive order requires travelers to complete a 2-week self-quarantine when returning from a state with a high infection rate. Now, Anaheim has issued a citywide face-covering requirement. According to Anaheim’s website, the new order requires the use of face coverings: Inside and in line for any indoor public space At any healthcare setting Using public transit or rideshare At workplaces in common areas For any food service, packaging or distribution In any room or enclosed area where you’re unable to distance from those outside your own household. Outside when within six feet of others Sleeping Beauty Castle The website also states those with special considerations would be exempt, and face coverings are not required in certain situations: Children younger than 2 Those with health, mental or developmental considerations Those who face workplace risks from wearing a face covering Medical treatments where removal is necessary While eating or drinking While exercising outdoors or indoors when distanced from others While working outdoors when distanced Those who are incarcerated Orange County, Florida mandated face masks a few weeks ago and is also on New York and New Jersey’s travel advisory. 23. There are some pretty spectacular stage shows at the Disney parks! From Festival of the Lion King to Fantasmic, we’ve seen incredible entertainment of the highest caliber! Festival of the Lion King While many shows at Disney World and Disneyland have pulled out all the stops, other shows left us scratching our heads. We dug up shows that you won’t BELIEVE were at a Disney park! The Astuter Computer Revue The first show on our list opened with EPCOT on October 1, 1982. There was a ton of new and innovative technology on display when EPCOT first opened, including the earliest versions of the computer. The Astuter Computer Revue was the first “behind-the-scenes” show at Disney World and showed guests some of the computer technology that ran EPCOT. Spaceship Earth in 1985 Home computers were not prevalent yet, so the show dwindled in popularity over time. The Astuter Computer Revue was actually the first attraction at EPCOT to close after the park opened, and it played its final performance on January 2, 1984. Check out some of our old family photos at Disney World! Tracey Starring In Diamond Double-Cross Disney’s Tracey film was supposed to be a massive blockbuster hit, and Disney added its very own stage show to MGM Studios shortly after the film premiered in 1990. A Disneyland version of this show also existed, although it did not last long on either coast. Tracey Starring in Diamond Double-Cross © Disney It ran at MGM Studios from May 1990-February 1991, and at Disneyland from June 1990-December 1990. Looking back, we’re sort of glad this show didn’t last long as it was designed. Those characters looked FRIGHTENING. Think you’re a Hollywood Studios expert? See how much you know here! Dinosaurs Live Remember that early 90’s ABC family sitcom Dinosaurs? They’re coming BACK, but did you know they had their own stage show and mini-parade at MGM Studios!? The puppet-like quality of the dinosaurs lent itself to be featured in a Disney park, and it was created as a means to promote the television show. Dinosaurs Live © Disney Reports indicate that it never caught on with guests, and the show ended its run less than a year after it began in August 1992. Ever wanted to own a piece of Disney history? Find out how you could have done so in a BIG way here! Doug Live The hit cartoon series Doug found success on both the Disney Channel as well as Nickelodeon throughout the 1990s. This popularity carried over to the Disney parks, where in March of 1999 it got its very own stage show at MGM Studios. Doug Live © Disney Audience members were selected to go on stage to play with the fictional Doug band, The Beets, in their big show. Doug Funnie and Pattie Mayonnaise were also added as walk-around characters in the park. The show lasted for about two years and closed in May of 2001. Why can’t we meet MORE rare characters these days? Find out why, plus other weird things that need explaining, here! Epcot Center Daredevil Spectacular Our next show ran from 1986-1987 as part of EPCOT’s 15th-anniversary celebration. This show was MASSIVE, as there was literally a center-ring circus in the middle of Future World! Epcot Center Daredevil Spectacular © Disney The show featured circus animals, acrobats, and more! Looking back, those costumes were VERY 80s. It’s also hard to imagine circus elephants walking through EPCOT, but at least we have the photos to look back on. Check out our historical timeline behind one of Disney World’s most iconic snacks! Goosebumps Horrorland Fright Show and Funhouse This cult-favorite stage show ran in MGM Studios from October 1997 through November of 1998, just in time to squeeze in two Halloween seasons for this popular children’s horror book and television series. (Y’all, MGM was a WEIRD, wild ride, wasn’t it??) Goosebumps Horrorland Fright Show and Funhouse © Disney The stage show itself was a spinoff of the television series and was more of a magic show for guests. The show was then followed by a funhouse maze of mirrors, which brought guests into a gift shop. Now, R.L. Stine is bringing his creations to Disney+! Ever wonder what the backstory was behind some of Haunted Mansion’s residents? Find out here! The Magical World of Barbie In 1994, EPCOT got its very own Ambassador of Friendship, and it was none other than Barbie! Yes, THAT Barbie. Disney and Mattel were working on a partnership that involved several of Mattel’s property appearing in the parks, including the massively successful doll known as Barbie. Magical World of Barbie © Disney The show was a by-product of this attempted partnership. It ran from November of 1993 until May of 1995, and took place in the American Adventure Pavilion in World Showcase. Barbie drove around World Showcase in her pink GLITTER stretch limo and guests could meet Barbie and Ken after the shows! Check out 25 fun facts you probably didn’t know about Disney World! The Mickey Mouse Club Circus We’re traveling WAY back in time for our next show! The Mickey Mouse Club Circus debuted in Disneyland during its inaugural year of operation, in November of 1955. The show was held in a big top tent behind Fantasyland, where admission at the time was 50 cents for children and adults. If you wanted reserved seating, it would run you a whopping $1.00 per person. Mickey Mouse Club Circus in 1955 © Disney The show was 75 minutes long and featured twelve major acts, including animal performers, clowns, acrobats, and more. The run of this show, however, was not very long, and it closed in January of 1956, just a couple of months after it began. Check out these real-life places that were the inspiration behind some of your favorite Disney animated films! Splashtacular This next show, Splashtacular, was loosely based on the show “It’s Magical!” from Tokyo Disneyland. When it moved to EPCOT, it lost its fairytale, fantasy-based theming, and instead took on a more sci-fi look and feel to fit the mold of Future World. Splashtacular © Disney The show took place near the Fountain of Nations and ran from November 1993 until June 1994. Once the show closed, however, the additions to the Fountain that produced elaborate water displays throughout the day remained in Future World until 2019, when the fountain was demolished to make way for changes due to the Epcot Transformation. Check out the major transformation coming to EPCOT here! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The last show on our list is actually the longest-running out of all the shows we’ve talked about! The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles had their own show and mini-parade in MGM Studios from 1990-1995 and was immensely popular with guests! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles © Disney This was one of the more successful non-Disney franchises to find its way into the parks, which we have learned was NOT uncommon in the early years of MGM Studios. Some of these shows were straight-up bizarre (and most of them came, not surprisingly, from the craziness that was early MGM Studios!). While we may look at the stage shows of today in the Disney Parks and think how great they are or what they COULD be, just remember — there was a day when Slappy the Dummy and Ace Ventura were trolling the streets of now-Hollywood Studios. Just think of how our grandkids will look back and talk about how we were crazy for Festival of the Lion King or Mickey and Minnie’s Royal Friendship Faire! Actually…none of that can touch Tracy and aliens fighting around the Fountain of Nations. Those were straight-up ODD. We’re learning more and more about Disney World every day! See some neat things we JUST learned here! Did you see any of these shows back in the day? Share your stories in the comments! 25. We all know that Disney+ is a fantastic way to access all of your favorite Disney films, old and new, in one place! But Disney+ is also treasure trove when it comes to the off-the-beaten-path content as well. ©Disney And when you do some deep digging, you’ll find that there are some CREEPY films on Disney+ that you can watch right now! But don’t worry, we checked them out so you can have a full understanding of what you’re getting into! Use this as a watch list if you feel like watching some pretty bizarre stuff this weekend! Return to Oz Our first “creepy” film on our list is Return to Oz, a 1985 sequel to The Wizard of Oz. In this film, The Emerald City is under attack and Dorothy learns that her friends from her first trip to Oz are in danger. She teams up with a new set of pals to rescue not only Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion, but the Emerald City as well. © Disney While no one would dispute a good old sequel to The Wizard of Oz, we can’t help but wonder exactly what went wrong in the costume and makeup department. Dorothy’s friends seem to have this bizarre human/puppet hybrid quality to them. We all know that Oz can have some creepy qualities to it, so we’re willing to buy into the absurdity. It’s summer! Time to pop some popcorn and binge-watch tons of Disney+ content! Click here for a summer watch list. Don’t Look Under the Bed Our next film started out as a Disney Channel Original Movie in 1999. Don’t Look Under the Bed came out around Halloween and centers around a high schooler named Frances McCausland, who uses the help of her brother’s imaginary friends to take on the infamous Boogeyman. © Disney Clearly, some spooky stuff is afoot! But when you realize how CREEPY the imaginary friends are, in addition to how frightening the Boogeyman is, you may start to wonder how this film was approved to air on the Disney Channel in the first place. Disney+ is huge and analysts predict it will only keep growing! Learn more here! The Black Hole When you hear that a film is categorized as a “space opera,” you know you’re in for a treat. The Black Hole came out in 1979 to generally mixed reviews. And while sci-fi movies by definition can seem a little “out there,” the mere premise that this film takes place in outer space doesn’t qualify it as creepy. © Disney However, what’s a bit bizarre about this film is that it strikes a lot of similarities to Star Wars, which had been released just two years prior. The Black Hole even features two fun-loving robot sidekicks, and critics were keen to point out that Disney seemed to want to get on board the Star Wars bandwagon. Want more ideas for what to watch on Disney+ this weekend? Click here! Mr. Boogedy This next film is CREEPY, full stop! While Return to Oz has a whimsical quality to it because, well, it takes place in Oz, and The Black Hole is bound to have its moments of bizarre space peril, we can’t offer much explanation for Mr. Boogedy other than it is just plain CREEPY. © Disney The film takes place in the fictional town of Lucifer Falls (natch), where an innocent family moves into a haunted house. Don’t worry, if you end up watching Mr. Boogedy and want even MORE, it has a sequel called The Bride of Boogedy. Check out our Disney+ watch list when you’re bored at home here! Can of Worms This next film almost needs no explanation. J/K. While we were doing our research for this article, the first screenshot we found from this film is already going to give us nightmares for weeks. © Disney Can of Worms is about a teen who believes he doesn’t belong on planet Earth and calls on aliens to help him escape. Plot aside, we have a few questions we need answers to: is that alien wearing socks and shoes? WHY does the alien have human teeth? Who approved this design? Disney released a watchlist for Earth Day this past April! Check out the full list here. Fuzzbucket This next film is creepy, but in a kind of adorable way. Fuzzbucket is about a young boy in junior high who seeks the help of his invisible friend Fuzzbucket to deal with troubles at home and at school. In return, he promises to make Fuzzbucket visible. © Disney Once we see Fuzzbucket, well…he may have been better off invisible. You definitely need to warm up to Fuzzbucket, but once you do, it’s a rather charming film! See what the newest additions to the Disney+ lineup are here! The Ghosts of Buxley Hall The next couple of films move away from the sci-fi genre and are creepy for entirely different reasons! The first is The Ghosts of Buxley Hall, which tells the story of a 100-year-old academy that finds itself in financial trouble. The school is haunted and the ghosts call upon a young boy, who is the heir to a large sum of money, to help save the school. © Disney Sounds innocent enough, right? Once you start watching the film, however, you come to realize that the ghosts are up in arms over the fact that the academy, which at one time was an all-boys school, wants to invite girls to attend for the first time. This “battle of the sexes” turns out a lot of one-liners that may make you cringe more than laugh. Some films may NEVER arrive on Disney+. See the list of those films here! The Black Cauldron The final two films on our list are the only two animated movies we included. In general, Disney’s animated films seem to be straightforward in their ‘family-friendly’ factor, but every once in a while we’ve seen movies that break that mold and are rather creepy and perhaps frightening for younger viewers. © Disney This next film has a huge cult following, so we know there are probably lots of people out there who would NEVER say The Black Cauldron is creepy. However, given its dark nature, we would say that its content is rather bizarre for a Disney film. The Black Cauldron was considered a financial flop, and many deemed it to be too dark and scary for children. It was one of the first films Tim Burton worked on out of school so, if you need some more perspective, there ya go! What other things has Disney gone too far on and have had to ‘dial back’ over the years? Find out here! The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad: “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” Our final film on this list is part of The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad! Specifically, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” This film is partnered with “Wind in the Willows,” which is a stark contrast in tone. © Disney Disney’s older animated films by default have a twinge of creepiness built-in, just from the mere fact that they are older animation styles, and the sound has that “vintage” feel. For 1949, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” was a big achievement in animation, even adding to the creep factor! It’s one scary tale, but one of Disney’s most impressive! Wonder where we get that UBER creepy Headless Horseman at Disney’s Halloween bashes? Oh Hey There, Creepy Yep…this movie. Check out a HUGE Disney+ watch list inspired by Disney Parks! Despite these films being creepy, scary, and downright bizarre, we still recommend you check these out for yourselves! Spending time on Disney+ makes you realize just HOW MUCH content Disney has produced over the years, and there is really something for everybody! What has been your favorite new discovery on Disney+?
