  2. Disney World has new things popping up and changing nearly every single day, and while we’re in the parks each day to hopefully catch them all, sometimes Disney does stuff so sneakily that even we don’t catch it right away! El Ranchito del Norte While Disney often will announce changes, like closures, reopenings, and changes in hours, that’s not ALWAYS the case. Sometimes, they just make the change on their website and app, and you’ll walk by one day and go “…when did those doors reopen?” That’s exactly what happened over in EPCOT‘s Mexico Pavilion — this store is BACK OPEN after nearly five years! El Ranchito del Norte is a small kiosk tucked away beside La Cantina de San Angel, and is home to lots of souvenirs you can bring home to represent your love of Mexico and this gorgeous pavilion. You’ll find flags, apparel, maracas, and more, including some truly adorable axolotl plushes! Axolotl Plushes This spot quietly reopened its doors, and since it’s tucked away, it’s hard for many people to see it, especially depending on where the sun is in the sky. However, if you hear the Music of Mexico mariachi group performing, you’ll find the shop immediately behind them. Mariachi Cobre As hard as it is to believe, yes, there are still spots that haven’t reopened following the COVID-19 closures six years ago. While the Tea Experience at the Garden View Lounge will finally be opening on March 19th, we’re still waiting to hear about the fate of the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique locations in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney Springs. 4. For decades, refillable mugs have been a favorite souvenir for many Disney fans. The current incarnation are 16 oz. insulated coffee mugs that are sold for about $23 at Disney hotels in the primary Counter Service location. Those on the Disney Dining Plan also receive a mug as part of their package. Purple Flip Top Guests are entitled to unlimited free refills on fountain drinks, coffee, and tea from participating beverage locations at Disney resort hotels (both the one they’re staying at as well as others on property) for their length of stay up to 14 days. Each mug features an RFID barcode, which enables the mug to deactivate when the designated time is complete. So with all that going for them, how could we say that there’s no reason to use one at one of Disney World’s most popular — and oldest locations? Well, it’s all about distance. Disney World Resort Refillable Mug The Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground has been a staple at Walt Disney World since (nearly) the very beginning. See, the campground was always planned for the Vacation Kingdom, primarily to serve as a cost-effective alternative to the Contemporary and Polynesian Village Resorts, and was advertised in promotional materials from the start. However, construction delays pushed the campground back slightly, with Fort Wilderness opening on November 19th, 1971, about 6 weeks after the rest of Walt Disney World. Fort Wilderness campsite ©Disney Today, Fort Wilderness features over 800 campsites and over 400 cabins spread around the sprawling property… which brings to the refillable mug issue. Mugs can be refilled at the campground at the Meadows Pool Snack Bar and the Trail’s End Restaurant, both of which can be a long trek from some of the campsites and cabins. If you do not rent a golf cart, you more than likely have to hop on a bus just to get your morning coffee. And the bus for the Trails End Restaurant takes you in the opposite direction of the buses that you need to board for DHS, EPCOT, and DAK. So, unless you are hoping on a boat to Magic Kingdom right after getting your morning drink, it just ends up being a hassle. Also, if you plan to stay at the parks late, you will find Trail’s End Restaurant locked once you arrive. It’s open until about 9:45 PM most nights. So you won’t be able to hop in and snag a drink then either. Trail’s End Restaurant On top of all that, there’s almost certainly no returning the mug to the campsite after morning coffee before heading out to one of Walt Disney World’s theme parks. So then you are lugging a cup you can’t refill in the parks around all day long. Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground If you’re posting up at Fort Wilderness during your next Walt Disney World vacation, be sure to consider these factors when planning to pick up Disney World’s latest refillable mug. 5. Since its opening in 2019, the Skyliner has become one of the resort’s most used — and most popular — modes of transportation. Skyliner at Disney’s Riviera Resort The gondola system connects EPCOT and Hollywood Studios with the Riviera Resort, the Caribbean Beach Resort, the Pop Century Resort, and the Art of Animation Resort, making it a key piece of Walt Disney World’s infrastructure. Which means that, when the Skyliner goes down, things can be a bit of a nightmare. According to Disney, the system’s 304 gondolas currently carry over 10x the ridership of New York City’s well-known Roosevelt Island Ariel Tramway annually. Suffice to say, that’s a lot of people, and it’s impressive that the system can manage it. However, that’s also a lot of guests depending on the system, which means that if it goes down unexpectedly — say for technical reasons or weather-related purposes — things can get a bit hectic. The Skyliner was down… We experienced this firsthand recently, as a member of our team was planning to travel from Hollywood Studios to the Boardwalk Resort by hopping off the Skyliner at EPCOT’s International Gateway. However, the gondola system went down, leaving guests essentially stranded. This led to the FriendShip boats (which also link Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, and the EPCOT Resort Area) getting crowded… Crowded… … VERY crowded. VERY Now, since the weather wasn’t bad on this particular day, our team members were able to stroll the walking path from Hollywood Studios to the Boardwalk, which took about 15 minutes. (Fun Fact: This walking path links Hollywood Studios and EPCOT, winding through the EPCOT Resort Area hotels.). However, walking might not work for all guests due to potential physical limitations. Not to mention the fact that if the weather had been a factor in shutting down the Skyliner, it likely wouldn’t have been pleasant to walk through either. Walking Path between Disney’s BoardWalk and Hollywood Studios ©Disney Each January, the Skyliner goes through a scheduled closure; for example, in 2027, the system will be down from January 24th to January 30th. However, given the long-scheduled nature of these closures, Disney is prepared and beefs up the remaining transportation infrastructure to ease the burden of the gondola system’s temporary absence. Alternative transportation options during a previous planned closure The Skyliner has become an integral part of Disney World’s transportation infrastructure in the years since its introduction, but that also means a bit of a temporary nightmare scenario when it goes down unexpectedly. 7. On March 29, Disneyland Paris enters an exciting new chapter with the inauguration of Disney Adventure World, its reimagined and expanded second park that features a thrilling array of innovative new experiences that leverage Disney’s globally beloved stories and franchises. From the moment guests enter through the majestic Adventure Way to the impressive brand-new World of Frozen — which recreates the kingdom of Arendelle on a life-size scale — they’ll discover an attraction inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Tangled, 14 new dining locations, an immense lake called Adventure Bay, a breathtaking nighttime spectacular, and more. That’s not to mention the new Olaf robotic character, who will be featured as part of the daily Celebration in Arendelle show. To learn more about the resort’s exciting transformation, which will include a new world and attraction themed to The Lion King still to come, we spoke with Natacha Rafalski, Présidente of Disneyland Paris. On Mar. 29, the resort’s second park will officially become Disney Adventure World, with World of Frozen as its centerpiece. How did you determine which Disney stories and franchises would best resonate with guests across the EMEA region? Our strategy was driven by two key pillars: the proven emotional power of our franchises and our ambition to introduce new stories that complemented those already featured in Disneyland Park at Disneyland Paris. We chose franchises like Frozen, Marvel, and The Lion King because they offer something for everyone, from young children and families to adult fans. While Pixar already has a beloved presence in both our parks, we recognized that Frozen and Marvel have become absolute cultural phenomena that particularly resonate with our European guests. By pairing these with The Lion King, a story that holds a unique, almost sacred place in the hearts of Europeans, we’ve created a perfectly balanced ecosystem of stories. World of Frozen at Disneyland Paris World of Frozen at Disneyland Paris While Disneyland Park, our first theme park in Paris, remains the home of classic, timeless storytelling, Disney Adventure World is designed as a place where guests literally step into the stories they know and love. We wanted to move beyond watching the story to living within the familiar environments seen on screen. Whether it’s wandering the streets of Arendelle or immersing yourself in the high-tech world of the Avengers, we are inviting our guests to fully dive into the cinematic worlds they have seen on screen, providing a fresh, distinct contrast to our first park. These stories clearly travel well beyond their original markets. What does their global appeal say about the enduring strength of Disney’s franchises? It proves that our stories speak a universal language. Disney’s strength lies in building on themes that are foundational to the human experience: the importance of family and self-discovery in Frozen, the values of heroism and leadership in Marvel, or the responsibility and circle of life in The Lion King. When you combine those themes with relatable characters and unforgettable music, you create a shared cultural touchstone. These stories connect people across generations and borders, creating an emotional bond that remains vibrant decades after a film’s release. How did you bring these franchises to life in ways that felt authentic to the region and resonated with local guests? It is a delicate balance between preserving the DNA of these universal stories and grounding them in an experience that feels authentic to our diverse guests, and weaving it into the cultural fabric of Europe. Many of the stories we tell, from Frozen and Tangled to Peter Pan, are originally based on traditional European stories. Our goal is to honor that heritage while inviting guests into the Disney version of those worlds. We achieve this by drawing heavily from European artistic traditions. On Adventure Way, for example, we embraced an eclectic architectural style with a strong Art Nouveau aesthetic — and influential school of design that originated here in France. We also know our European guests have a unique appreciation for nature and the traditional stroll. Our landscapes bring this to life through an English-inspired Gazebo Garden and formal French-style parks, offering a more contemplative, distinctly European way to experience a theme park. Adventure Way at Disneyland Paris That commitment to authenticity carries through to the smallest details of craftsmanship and artistry. In The Regal View Restaurant & Lounge, for example, the decor features striking display plates from the Royal Delft manufactory in the Netherlands — authentic elements that help ground the fantasy in real‑world history. We even localize the experience through sound, collaborating with renowned French composer Philippe Rombi, who created a score for Adventure Way that brings a distinct cinematic sensibility to the land. Finally, we think carefully about how language plays an important role in making the experience accessible and relatable. In our attractions, guests will hear characters naturally shift between French and English, ensuring the story is clear for everyone while maintaining the grand scale our guests expect. It is truly about honoring the European spirit of these tales while inviting every guest to become a part of the story. Michel den Dulk, Walt Disney Imagineering Portfolio Executive for Disneyland Paris, the Olaf robotic character, and Natacha Rafalski, Présidente of Disneyland Paris What are some of the most exciting innovations coming to Disneyland Paris as part of this transformation? Innovation at Disneyland Paris is about elevating every touchpoint of the guest journey, ensuring the magic feels more seamless and alive than ever before. We are particularly thrilled to introduce a next generation robotic figure of Olaf. Developed by Walt Disney Imagineering, this is a true milestone in character technology. Unlike traditional animatronic figures, this Olaf is a free roaming, untethered robotic character that can walk and move with the same whimsical and slightly bumbling gait we know from the films. He can speak and engage with his surroundings in a way that creates a level of character fidelity previously only possible on screen. Guests will be able to see him soon at both Hong Kong Disneyland and right here in Paris as part of our entertainment offerings. Looking beyond World of Frozen, we are bringing a world first to our nighttime entertainment with the introduction of autonomous aquatic drones. These surface vehicles allow us to use the water of Adventure Bay as a dynamic and choreographed stage. By blending this cutting-edge technology with our classic storytelling, we are creating a multisensory show unlike anything seen in a Disney park before. We are also evolving the invisible parts of the guest experience. By introducing new digital ways to order food and modernizing our retail environments with intuitive technology, we are removing friction from the day to day. Our goal is to ensure guests spend less time in line and more time immersed in the stories they love. A rendering of the Lake Show at Adventure Bay at Disneyland Paris This transformation is part of a broader €2 billion investment in Disneyland Paris. What does that level of investment signal about Disney’s long-term commitment to the resort and to its growing presence in EMEA more broadly? This investment is a powerful vote of confidence in Disneyland Paris as the leading tourist destination in Europe. It reflects our continued evolution as a world‑class resort, designed to meet the needs of future generations of guests. By significantly expanding our footprint and diversifying our stories, we are reinforcing our commitment to the EMEA region, ensuring that we remain the gold standard for immersive family entertainment for decades to come. The evolution of Disney Adventure World continues beyond March 29, with a new Up–inspired attraction and an immersive world based on The Lion King still to come. How do these future developments fit into your vision? Our vision is one of continuous growth and layered storytelling. As we evolve, we are focused on creating a balanced park experience. For instance, the new Up-inspired attraction is a charming, family-style flying carousel that serves as a perfect celebration of the film’s spirit, beautifully complementing the lush greenery and atmosphere of Adventure Way. A rendering of the new world and attraction themed to ‘The Lion King’ coming to Disneyland Paris A rendering of the ‘Up’-themed attraction coming to Disneyland Paris Looking further ahead, the upcoming immersive world of The Lion King will be a massive cornerstone for the park’s future. These developments ensure that Disney Adventure World is a place of constant discovery. A destination that grows alongside our guests, offering everything from quiet moments of family fun to epic, large-scale adventures. 8. For more than a century, The Walt Disney Company has continued to expand the ways in which audiences interact with its stories. At this year’s South by Southwest® (SXSW®) conference in Austin, Texas, Disney Consumer Products (DCP) showcased exactly how that legacy is expanding — powered by cultural insight, emotional storytelling, and innovative collaborations that meet fans wherever they are. On March 13, Tasia Filippatos, President of Disney Consumer Products, took to the SXSW stage to detail how the business has grown into a commercial powerhouse, extending Disney’s iconic characters far beyond screens and theme parks into everyday categories such as sports, beauty, fashion, jewelry, and home décor. Amplifying a Legacy of Magic Filippatos opened her talk, “Shaping Brand Relevance for a New Generation,” with a simple statement: each person’s experience with Disney is deeply personal. Whether it’s a memory of a family trip to Disneyland, trick-or-treating dressed as a beloved Disney character, or singing a favorite song on repeat, Disney stories don’t just entertain; they stay with us. And while many fans know Disney for its films and theme parks, DCP is the engine that brings those stories to life in the hands of consumers around the world. But, Filippatos cautioned, “legacy alone isn’t a strategy for the future.” Disney’s challenge, and opportunity, is to remain meaningful to each new generation. To sustain that emotional connection, DCP is evolving how fans experience Disney stories by meeting them where they are, embracing new platforms and touchpoints that make Disney part of daily life. Inside the World of Disney Consumer Products Disney’s consumer products business anchors a $62 billion global retail ecosystem, inclusive of the world’s largest licensing operation. Spanning more than 100 product categories across 180 countries, DCP brings storytelling to life from mass retailers like Walmart to luxury brands such as Gucci, and from games to publishing. At every level, the work is guided by a single purpose: to “create happiness every day.” Tasia Filippatos, President of Disney Consumer Products Evolving With a New Generation of Fans With younger generations shaping global trends faster than ever, DCP is adapting to meet the expectations of digital‑native audiences. Filippatos invited Ron Faris, DCP’s Head of Global Marketing, to unpack how fandom drives cultural relevance. His insight: youth don’t just consume culture; they create it, remix it, and scale it. From games like Roblox and Fortnite to video platforms like TikTok and YouTube Shorts, today’s fans interact with Disney stories on their own terms, and Disney’s approach is evolving accordingly. As Faris explained, the Disney playbook is built on three core ingredients: story, product, and experience, with story as the foundation. “Story is the most important. That’s the lore,” he said, noting that Disney continually shapes and remixes its stories to drive energy and emotion across different segments of consumers. With trading cards and vintage thrifting emerging as two of the biggest youth trends today, DCP leans into high-heat drops and collectible formats like blind boxes, which deepen emotional engagement. Together, this approach allows DCP to create culturally relevant moments that resonate with new audiences. Games as a Gateway into Disney Stories With nine game franchises surpassing $1 billion, Disney games aren’t simple adaptations of box office hits. Instead, they’re full-fledged storytelling universes. Filippatos also welcomed Sean Shoptaw, EVP of Games & Digital Entertainment, to discuss how gaming has become one of the most powerful entry points into Disney storytelling. “Today’s consumers expect to have a voice,” said Filippatos. “And they’re looking for community and shared experiences on these platforms.” Shoptaw highlighted the company’s partnership with Epic Games, showcasing the enormous potential ahead as the boundaries between games, content, and interactive worlds continue to blur. Emotion at the Heart of Creativity Emotion drives everything at Disney and that includes consumer products. To explore this idea, Marcus Rosie, Head of Global Creative, joined Filippatos onstage to talk about how DCP designs products and experiences starting with the question: “What do we want people to feel?” Pointing to examples ranging from Selfridges’ enchanting and immersive holiday takeover in London to a globally celebrated Disney’s The Lion King collaboration with Balmain, shot on location in Africa and the award-winning Bath & Body Works Disney Princess and Villains fragrance collections, Rosie stressed how emotion transforms products into cultural moments. “Once we define the emotional destination – whether it’s wonder, nostalgia, humor or joy – everything else becomes a design choice,” he said. “Emotion is what turns a moment into a memory.” Unexpected Collaborations, Made Authentically Disney The session also spotlighted collaborations that spark curiosity and cultural conversation. Bobby Kim, DCP’s Global Creative Director, shared how Disney chooses collaborators whose stories align with the company’s DNA, leading to partnerships that feel surprising, yet unmistakably Disney. “Collaborations are not just a way to share someone else’s story,” said Kim, “but to shine a light on the nuances and facets of your own brand that you might not have seen otherwise. What you say about the collaborator really says more about yourself.” The Disney x Formula 1® “Fuel the Magic” collaboration was an unexpected pairing that unlocked engagement with a massive global fanbase of 860 million people and made Mickey Mouse an instant star in the F1 paddock. The kick-off spot last May sparked the highest engagement F1 has ever seen around any of its partnership announcements. From the SXSW stage, Filippatos announced the next step in the “Fuel the Magic” campaign — a partnership with F1 Academy, supporting the next generation of female racers while celebrating Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck. A Blueprint for Staying Relevant To close the session, Filippatos highlighted one more example that captures the spirit of Disney’s evolving cultural relevance: the 2024 Coperni runway show at Disneyland Paris, which closed out Paris Fashion Week in front of some of the world’s leading tastemakers. Ultimately, each example discussed reinforced the central idea at the heart of Filippatos’ message, which is relevance is built through creativity, authenticity, and emotional connection. When brands build meaningful connections with their audiences, the magic naturally follows. 9. St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner, and Disney Springs is the place you need to be! St. Paddy’s at Raglan Road Raglan Road is hosting The Mighty Festival once again this year, an annual tradition to celebrate the holiday, from March 13th-17th! The restaurant is going to be decked out in St. Patrick’s Day decor for the weekend and will be offering exclusive special dining options you can only get during the event. This is an event you MUST experience! The Mighty Festival at Raglan Road has begun today, but we got the chance to preview it a day early. As soon as we walked in, the place was glimmering green. Maybe it was all of the souvenirs you can buy in the gift shop that stood out! Inside Raglan Road’s gift shop Speaking of, there will be exclusive merchandise available for everyone coming to Raglan Road during the festival. Check out this Raglan Road Bucket Hat… Bucket Hat! …and there’s also this Mighty Festival T-Shirt. If you want either of these, you might need to be fast, because they could go quickly! Mighty Festival Shirt The special menu being offered is called the March Memories Menu. It features eight different options, including six dining options and two drinks. March Memories Menu We got to try a few of the new menu options, starting with the Ireland in a Spring Roll. The Ireland in a Spring Roll is described as a golden pastry filled with smoked Irish bacon and tender cabbage, served with a velvet red cabbage purée and a pickled vegetable salad. This is a delicious starter that is also the perfect size for a starter. Our sample came with one spring roll, but the normal starter will come with two spring rolls. Ireland in a Spring Roll Some appetizers can feel so heavy that you don’t even have enough room for your main dish. However, this one is a good enough portion that it still leaves you room for your entree. The spring roll is very flavorful. It’s soft, with a nice crunch on the outside. The purée on the bottom is a great addition, making the dish taste a little bit sweeter. This was good! Next, we tried the Chop Chop its Bacon, a chargrilled bacon chop, served with caramelized half cabbage, honey-glazed carrots, and creamy mashed potato. The dish is finished with a rich raisin cider and cider jus. A lot is going on for this thing, but it’s all good. The chargrilled bacon is delicious. It has a super savoury flavor, it’s firm, and is not too hard to eat. You can tell it was chargrilled, and we’re here for it. The rich raisin and cider sauce that is on it just enhances the savoury flavour all the more. Chop Chop its Bacon Just so you know, this isn’t your typical American bacon. This is like Canadian bacon, so basically ham. The mashed potatoes are very soft and creamy. It just basically melts in your mouth. The mashed potatoes aren’t overly salty, and they’re very rich in flavour. They have an almost buttery taste to them. The carrot was pretty sweet, so when they say honey glaze, they mean honey glaze. The carrots are pretty soft as well, making them super easy to chew. The cabbage wasn’t our favorite, but then again, if you like cabbage, you’ll probably like this. It’s sweet, and it’s very easy to cut into because it’s so soft. This was delicious! The Tri-Pies were three Irish pies, including shepherd’s pie with smoked mashed potatoes, traditional lamb hot pot with root vegetables and baby potatoes, and a golden pastry pie filled with chicken, leeks, and wild mushrooms. Tri-Pies The shepherd’s pie topped with the mashed potatoes was very good! The shepherd’s pie was very soft and creamy. The meat was tender and seasoned well. The mashed potatoes on top had a GREAT flavour. Shepherd’s Pie The traditional lamb hot pot was also really good. It was topped with potatoes that were cooked crispy, and then once you get through the potatoes, the inside of the dish was pretty tender. If you don’t like lamb, this is probably not the one for you, but it’s a good thing to try. Traditional Lamb Hot Pot The golden pastry pie was very firm on the outside, but once you broke into it, it had a soft middle. It does take some force to break into it, though. Just like the other two, this pie was super flavourful, and it’s unique. Golden Pastry Pie One of the desserts is the Brownie Dazed. The brownie is a delicious hot fudge brownie. This one was so extremely soft, almost mushy soft. It just squished so easily every time you tried to put your spoon into it. Brownie Dazed It also comes with a side of caramel sauce, so you can drizzle it on top. If you leave the caramel sauce for a little while on top of it, it starts to harden. The brownie also comes with ice cream, which just adds to the dessert. The brownie itself is very sweet, especially once you add the caramel onto it. Brownie Dazed with caramel There was also the Crumble at Will. Basically, picture a hard apple pie with a side of ice cream — that’s what this dessert was! The crust of the apple pie is very hard, making it very hard to break into. You can scoop out the apple pie in the middle and then eat the crust after if you want to. It’s almost easier that way, you might make a mess. This is really just your basic apple pie/apple tart, and ice cream — can’t go wrong with it. Crumble at Will For the drink, we HAD to try the Mint Bailey Shake. We don’t wanna compare it to a Shamrock Shake, but just picture a Shamrock Shake with Bailey’s in it. Obviously, it’s higher quality than a Shamrock Shake. It has a better mint flavor and doesn’t taste artificial. It’s not crazy sweet, which we really appreciated, and it’s not crazy minty to either. It’s a nice, refreshing dessert drink. It’s a really fun drink to get during this festival, and we think it’s a must-grab. Mint Bailey Shak We got a chance to look at the full spread of items coming in their full size. Take a look! All the new items! We’ll be back for more, and we hope you get the chance to enjoy this festival and everything it has to offer. 10. Our team at Disney Food Blog is Disney experts. We’re constantly in the parks and trying out the best new gadgets to make our park days even better. So when we saw this neck fan, we had to try it. Neck fans Long gone are the days of carrying a fan in your hand all day long. We tried two different neck fans, which stay on your neck like a necklace to keep you cool all day long. These sounded so convenient, but are they worth it? Let’s find out! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. First, we tried the JISULIFE Portable Neck Fan! JISULIFE Neck Fan This neck fan boasts a four to 16 working hour duration and 78 air outlets for ultimate cooling. Unfortunately, our battery only lasted three hours and 15 minutes! The air outlets would suck our hair inside and even rip some of it out. But while it lasted, it kept us incredibly cool! JISULIFE fan This neck fan was easier to slide on and off our neck because of the lightweight material, and because the physical opening was wider. The on and off button is difficult to find when you’re wearing the fan — you have to reach behind your head, and it’s kind of hidden in the side. view ON AMAZON Then, we tried the ASNUG Neck Fan! ASNUG Neck Fan This neck fan was 10 times better for the same price. It has a four to 16-hour battery life, which we found to be true! These 360° surrounding air outlets kept us cool all day, and the fan is bladeless, so your hair won’t get stuck! This was amazing for our long summer park days. ASNUG Portable Neck Fan We didn’t like how hard this neck fan was to take off, though. The shape and material of this fan make it difficult to take off and put on your neck, which you do a lot when you’re riding rides. It stuck to our skin quite a bit, too. view ON AMAZON Ultimately, these neck fans were convenient, but they didn’t convert us. We’ll still be taking our handy-dandy handheld fan to Disney with us! We love this handheld mini fan! We love this thing! The JISULIFE Handheld Mini Fan keeps us cool from rope drop to fireworks. This fan is so compact! Most fans are larger and bulky to carry around, but this one folds nicely to take as little space in your bag as possible Folded up – yes, it has little Mickey ears! It also has a built-in flashlight and a power bank to charge your phone. It might be small, but this fan packs a punch even on the hottest Florida days. It barely takes up any space in your backpack, but when you need it, you’ll be so glad you grabbed it. view ON AMAZON We’re always on the hunt for the latest and greatest Disney souvenirs and essentials, so don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more! Carbonara Pizetta from LA Style This small flatbread is made with white sauce, Nueske’s Applewood Smoked Bacon, and a black pepper drizzle for $8. Carbonara Pizzetta We loved that most of the flavor is garlic and parmesan! The bacon wasn’t a super strong flavor, but we liked how the dough wasn’t too thick and didn’t overpower the toppings. The whole pizza was well-balanced and a hit in our books. Pork Chile Verde Chalupas This totally blew us away! The taco shell was a perfect combination of soft and chewy, and the pork was seasoned so well that the flavors exploded in your mouth. The pork had a bit of a kick, but it was balanced by the lettuce, tomato, and lime. READ OUT FULL REVIEW HERE Aguachile Loaded Chips from Paradise Garden Grill For $13.49, you can grab these zesty chips topped with lime-cooked shrimp, fresh cucumbers, and red onion with aguachile salsa. Aguachile Loaded Chips Another hit from Parade Garden Grill! We felt like every chip was perfectly seasoned, and the agua chili salsa had layers of flavor. The chili powder provided a kick, and there’s some in the salsa verde as well, but nothing too crazy. There were so many flavors, and we loved that it was all cooled down by the onion and cucumber. The shrimp added an extra flavor without being too briny, and you can even sprinkle lime on top. SO good. READ OUR FULL REVIEW HERE Spinach Artichoke Grilled Cheese at Pym Test Kitchen This grilled cheese is made with spinach and artichoke on parmesan-crusted sourdough, served with potato bites for $14.99. Spinach and Artichoke Grilled Cheese The parmesan-crusted bread gave this sandwich incredible crunch without overpowering the flavor. The cheese was perfectly melty and gave us that iconic cheese pull, and the spinach and artichoke flavor really came through. If you love a good spinach artichoke dip, you’ll probably really like this grilled cheese. READ OUR FULL REVIEW HERE Best Drinks Our favorite drinks of the festival! Pickle Whisky Sour from Peppers Cali-Ente This drink is made with bourbon, pickle, and lime juices, and sweet and sour rimmed with Tajin Clasico and Tajin Chile-Lime sauce, and garnished with a pickle spear for $19.25. Pickle Whiskey Sour Cocktail We thought this drink was so unique and not something you’d find anywhere else. If you’re someone who could drink pickle juice straight from the jar, you’re going to love this. It had the crispness of a pickle spear, and the Tajin added a nice flavor. READ OUR FULL REVIEW HERE California Punch from California Craft Brews It’s made with mango puree, guava nectar, cucumber syrup, and lemon juice, garnished with a mango-chile lollipop for $9 and is non-alcoholic. California Punch This was a fun blend of unique and fresh flavors with an emphasis on the fruit. The garnish was flavorful, and it totally rises above your average mocktail. It’s a solid choice for a non-alcoholic option. READ OUR FULL REVIEW HERE We were so impressed by this year’s offerings! It was so hard to choose our favorites. 12. Let’s talk about something that can turn the final morning of your Disney World vacation from “relaxing send-off” to “uh…what just happened?” Copper Creek 1 bedroom villa Most Disney vacations end with a pretty predictable routine. You wake up, maybe squeeze in one last Mickey waffle, pack up your suitcase, and check out of your Disney World hotel. In theory, the process is easier than ever thanks to the My Disney Experience app. Mobile check-in and check-out mean you can skip the front desk entirely and head straight to your next destination. But lately, we’ve noticed a small (and honestly kind of awkward) issue popping up that you’ll definitely want to know about before your last day at a Disney World hotel. The Digital Check-Out Glitch Disney has leaned heavily into digital convenience over the past few years. Your room key is on your phone, your reservations are on your phone, and your hotel check-out is handled right inside the app. Usually, that’s great. My Disney Experience app ©Disney However, we’ve heard several reports from guests, and even experienced it ourselves, where the app seems to check guests out automatically before they’re actually ready to leave. Yep. You might still be in the room, packing your suitcase or finishing up a shower, while the system already thinks you’ve left the building. Check Out Feature ©Disney In some cases, guests didn’t even realize they’d been marked as checked out until something odd happened, like suddenly losing access to their mobile room key. When they opened the app to see what was going on, it showed their stay had already ended. Not exactly the kind of surprise you want on departure day. When Things Get Awkward The bigger problem happens when housekeeping gets involved. Once a room is marked as checked out in the system, it can signal to housekeeping that the room is ready to be turned over for the next guest. That means Cast Members may start preparing to clean the room…even if you’re technically still inside it. ©Disney We’ve heard stories from guests who stepped out briefly on their last morning, maybe to grab coffee or take a final walk around the resort, only to come back and find housekeeping already in the room tidying things up. Even worse? Some guests reported that their belongings had been gathered or moved because the system indicated the room was vacant. Needless to say, that can lead to a pretty uncomfortable moment. The Early Morning Knock Even if the system hasn’t mistakenly checked you out yet, there’s another thing you should be aware of on departure day: housekeeping often starts making the rounds before the official check-out time. At most Disney World hotels, check-out time is 11AM. But housekeeping may begin knocking on doors earlier in the morning to see which rooms are already empty and ready to clean. Room occupied sign Typically, they’ll knock first before entering. But if you’re still in the room, especially if you’re packing, showering, or trying to sleep in after a late night at the parks, that early knock can catch you off guard. We’ve even heard situations where housekeeping knocked and then returned multiple times throughout the morning. One guest shared that housekeeping knocked around 10AM, then came back again closer to 10:30AM when they were still getting ready to leave. Imagine scrambling to answer the door while you’re still in pajamas or halfway through packing your suitcase. Not exactly the magical ending you were hoping for. Why It Matters Most of the time, everything goes smoothly. Guests check out through the app, housekeeping comes in afterward, and the next family gets their room ready for their vacation. But when technology jumps the gun, or when communication gets a little crossed, things can get awkward fast. © Disney And on the last day of your trip, when you’re already juggling luggage, travel plans, and maybe one final park visit, the last thing you want is confusion about whether you’ve already checked out. What You Can Do to Avoid Problems Until the system becomes a little more predictable, there are a few simple things you can do to make your last morning easier. First, keep an eye on the My Disney Experience app on departure day. If it suddenly shows that you’ve checked out, even though you haven’t, it’s a good idea to stop by the front desk or talk to a Cast Member right away. Second, if you plan to leave your room temporarily before check-out (for breakfast, a quick swim, or a resort walk), consider taking your valuables with you or storing luggage with Bell Services. And finally, don’t be surprised if housekeeping knocks before the official check-out time. If you’re still getting ready, a quick “We’re still here!” through the door usually does the trick. The Bottom Line Disney’s digital tools make a lot of parts of a vacation easier, but they’re not perfect. A little awareness can go a long way in preventing an awkward situation on your final morning. So as you’re packing up those souvenirs and saying goodbye to your Disney World hotel, just keep an eye on the app, and maybe be ready for that knock on the door. Trust us, it’s a small thing that can make a big difference in how smoothly your Disney vacation wraps up. 14. Stardust Racers is one of Epic Universe’s most popular attractions. The dual-launch roller coaster has riders racing against the opposite track in one of Universal Orlando’s fastest rides. Stardust Racers The roller coaster closed for annual refurbishment on February 19th, but the closure has been extended from late February to mid-March, and now until April 5th! Stardust Racers closed on February 19th for its first annual inspection. Universal will also perform maintenance work and additional capacity enhancements for the queue and ride throughput. The ride is expected to be up and running by April 5th based on the calendar, but Universal has not yet confirmed an opening date. Stardust Racers In January, during Florida’s unprecedented cold front, Stardust Racers closed for several days. The trains would valley during testing, where ride vehicles lose more momentum than usual, making them unable to complete circuits and stall in low points of the track. The carts would also get stuck due to abnormally high winds, and Universal had to use a crane to recover the ride vehicles. Stardust Racers Stardust Racers was also closed back in September, when a rider, Kevin Rodriguez Zavala, was found unresponsive on the ride. Zavala died due to multiple blunt impact injuries, and the manner of death was ruled an accident. Universal now requires wheelchair users to be able to walk independently to any of their thrill rides, and Team Members will no longer be able to assist them on the attraction. Stardust Racers While Universal has taken precautions after mishaps, many guests are still concerned about ride safety. A viral lawsuit went public last month, where twin brothers sued Universal Orlando Resort for injuries from Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry. They allege that Universal knowingly let the brothers ride a malfunctioning ride. Stardust Racers We’ll be following the Stardust Racers reopening. 16. If you’ve ever planned a trip to Disney World, chances are you’ve at least looked into the Disney Dining Plan — Disney’s divisive meal credit offering. But if you’ve ever tried to find the same option for a trip at Disneyland in California, you’ve probably noticed something pretty quickly: It doesn’t exist. Flo’s V-8 Cafe Disney World’s Dining Plan has a couple of different options that allow you to prepay for meal and snack credits that can simply be allocated at an array of restaurants and food stands all over the resort. It is a useful vacation package add-on that many guests take advantage of during a vacation — so why exactly doesn’t Disneyland offer a Disney Dining Plan like Disney World does? The answer comes down to a few key differences between the two resorts — and once you understand them, it actually makes a lot of sense. One of the biggest reasons comes down to size. Saying the Walt Disney World Resort is SIGNIFICANTLY larger than the Disneyland Resort might be an understatement. Disney World has four massive theme parks that dwarf Disneyland’s two, and the Florida resort also features two water parks, a huge shopping/dining/entertainment district, dozens of hotels, and an enormous number of restaurants. As such, Disney World has a thing called the “Disney bubble” — and most guests opt to lodge in it for around a week or so. Disney can build dining plans around multi-day vacations where people are eating most of their meals on property. Welcome to Disney World! But over at the Disneyland Resort, things are very different. The entire resort is compact, and guests can walk between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure in just a matter of minutes. Downtown Disney is also pretty small and is within walking distance to each theme park and all three Disneyland Resort hotels. I also have to mention that one of the biggest appeals of a Disneyland vacation is that it isn’t limited to a Disney bubble. The surrounding city of Anaheim is packed with restaurants right outside the gates, and Orange County and Los Angeles are right at your fingertips. That means Disney doesn’t have the same level of control over where guests eat. Because of that, a dining plan simply isn’t as necessary. The Disneyland Esplanade area connects the two theme parks with Downtown Disney — all of which are only separated by a minute’s walk Another big factor is how long people typically visit. We’ll tell you time and time again that it’s impossible to do and see everything at Disney World in one visit — which will always be true. A prepaid dining plan is appealing to guests who know they’ll be eating most of their meals inside the resort because they just don’t have time to leave the resort and knock out most of their itinerary. But Disneyland trips are often much shorter, and many visitors spend one to three days at the parks. When trips are that short, a complicated dining plan with credits and reservations doesn’t make as much sense. With Disney World, it’s often necessary to carve out a ton of time that focuses on meals. As a Disneyland expert of over 30 years, I can comfortably say I’ve never seen that be the case out in California. You may pick a few restaurants you want to hit up, but you’ll be far more preoccupied with ride itineraries. The demand just isn’t the same on the West Coast. Din Tai Fung Dining plans are also heavily tied to Disney hotels — and while Disney World has a bunch, Disneyland only has three. The Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, and Pixar Place Hotel are each home to some wonderful dining experiences, but these restaurants aren’t as in-demand as the ones inside the parks or in Downtown Disney, since they’re all away from most of the Resort’s action. Napa Rose lounge In fact, most visitors actually stay in the many Good Neighbor off-site hotels, so they never even go into the Disney-owned hotels! Since a large percentage of guests aren’t staying in Disney hotels, a dining plan tied to Resort stays wouldn’t reach nearly as many people — whereas the dining plan is part of a vacation package for Disney World. Disneyland simply can’t offer any comparable vacation package since the Disney-owned hotels don’t play nearly as much of a factor. Disneyland Hotel Since most guests are staying off-site, the surrounding area is PACKED with restaurants. You’ll find everything from quick fast food to sit-down restaurants — and there are also plenty of places inside Downtown Disney that aren’t owned by Disney. At Disney World, leaving property for food can require a car or rideshare. At Disneyland, you can grab a burger across the street in five minutes. That flexibility makes a prepaid dining plan less useful for many visitors. And that’s the thing — right? Flexibility. A Disneyland vacation is so alluring to Disney fans because it’s much more lax in the planning department than Disney World. It’s really easy to just feel out your day and not worry about what you’re eating or where you’re eating. Sure, dining reservations are still a must for those in-demand restaurants, but it’s also okay to show up to the parks, feel things out in real time, and decide you’d rather get food at some place not owned by Disney or away from the Resort. And since a huge chunk of Disneyland guests are local, that’s a common occurrence. River Belle Terrace With all of these reasons in mind, never say never. Disney LOVES testing new ways for guests to spend money, and a dining plan could very well come to the California resort in the future. But right now, the structure of the Disneyland Resort simply doesn’t make a dining plan as practical as it is in Florida. Instead, Disneyland focuses way more on mobile ordering, Magic Key discounts, and seasonal food festivals. And for a lot of us Disneylanders, the freedom to snack your way around the parks without worrying about using credits might actually be part of the appeal. 2025 Festival of Holidays Booth If Disney ever decides to experiment with a dining plan on the West Coast, you better believe we’ll keep you posted — along with all the latest Disneyland updates and reviews! 17. Anyone who has been to Walt Disney World in recent years knows that the Disney World App is an integral part of the resort experience, which makes any changes to the system’s interface a big deal! Magic Kingdom’s Cinderella Castle In mid-March 2026, Disney rolled out some changes that updated the My Disney Experience app’s visual language as some functionality elements. The app’s main welcome page still looks similar, with information on the Lightning Lane tiers… ©Disney … along with park hours, and links to ongoing events and new attractions. ©Disney The full Disney World map remains available as one would expect… ©Disney … including the ability to zoom into each park to see all attraction and dining wait times. ©Disney The visual look of the search interface has been overhauled, with the images made large and changed in shape from round to rectangular. We did note some occasional glitches with the search, as well as the tendency to list events before the attraction itself. ©Disney For reference, here’s what the search page used to look like when populating results: ©Disney Shortcuts are still available to pull up from the bottom of the page… ©Disney … and features including dining reservations, mobile order, tickets, Lightning Lanes, etc. are still available as well. ©Disney Given the importance of the Disney World App to the overall resort experience, any change — even visual updates — is worth monitoring. 22. It feels like we’ve been getting tons of Disney World hotel construction news over the past couple of days, and that trend is continuing with this new refurbishment news about Disney’s Contemporary Resort! Contemporary Resort with Bay Lake Tower Disney’s Contemporary Resort is undergoing a refurbishment that will take multiple phases! It started in September 2024 and is scheduled to go through late 2027. We now have some new news about the work that is taking place across several areas of the resort, including Bay Lake Tower and the Main Tower. The agents at Small World Vacations know how to save money on your Disney Vacation! When you book your trip with Small World Vacations, their experienced agents monitor your reservation for possible future savings. They also compare discounts and figure out which one works best for your travel party, dates, resort, and touring plans. And they share expert tips and first-hand advice with you about your magical vacation. If you have a Disney World vacation coming up in the springtime, you’re going to want to be aware of a couple of things happening at the Contemporary Resort. On March 23rd, exterior maintenance work will begin on the Main Tower. It won’t be a major inconvenience, but it may affect views from various locations around the resort. Disney’s Contemporary Resort There’s a chance that the work could also require alternate paths of travel at times, but we’ll have to wait and see if Disney says anything further on that. Of course, construction activity may be visible or audible during daytime hours, so it could be bothersome to some. Disney usually does a good job of not being a disturbance, but you can only do so much when you’re working on construction. Contemporary Resort Since January 26th, the Bay Cove Pool, Cove Bar, water play area, and Whirlpool Spa have been temporarily closed for maintenance at the Bay Lake Tower. That will now continue on through early May 2026 — with no official date set yet. The Main Pool, water play area, and whirlpool spa at the Contemporary’s Main Tower remain open. Just something to be aware of if you’re staying at the resort this spring! Contemporary Feature Pool Also, exterior elevator landing repairs at Bay Lake Tower are scheduled to begin in late March, so we could see work being done there in a week or two. This maintenance is scheduled through late May 2026. New rooms at Bay Lake Tower Lastly, from March 30th through May 1st, 2026, the Skyway Bridge connecting Bay Lake Tower and the Main Tower will be closed Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM. This is definitely something to pay attention to for guests planning to stay at the resort, and even guests visiting the resort. The bridge reopens each evening after 5 PM and is available all day on weekends. Alternate routes may be needed during weekday closures. Disney’s Contemporary Resort We’re always keeping an eye out for any construction news happening at Disney World. 23. Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Disney Adventure, is packed with “ooh shiny” moments, but there’s one nighttime experience that’s basically yelling, “Cancel your post-dinner plans, bestie.” Because yes, Disney is doing what they love most: taking an already-extra idea and making it even more extra. It’s a BIG show On select nights, the Disney Adventure will light up the open ocean with a brand-new fireworks spectacular called “The Lion King: Celebration in the Sky.” And if you’re thinking, “Fireworks… on a cruise… is that allowed?” the answer is: Disney has been doing fireworks at sea for years and remains one of the only cruise lines to offer them, and now they’re leveling up the whole concept with a full-on Lion King production moment. So what’s the vibe? Think: the emotional punch of The Lion King soundtrack, the goosebumps of a big show build, and the dramatic flair of pyro and lighting effects… but happening above the actual ocean instead of above a castle hub where you’re also being gently bonked by someone’s balloon. This show is designed to bring the heart of the story to life with pyrotechnics and lighting effects synced to iconic music, so your “evenings at sea” suddenly feel like a headline event instead of “I guess we’re going to the lounge again.” It’s a big show! We have to say this is probably the BIGGEST fireworks show we’ve ever seen on a Disney Cruise. It fills the sky, and y’all, it’s pretty impressive. Now let’s talk music, because Disney didn’t just press play on a playlist and call it a day. The show features beloved songs like “Circle of Life,” “Hakuna Matata,” “He Lives in You,” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?” with fresh arrangements performed by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra plus vocals by the Ndlovu Youth Choir. And it’s all to music from The Lion King! Translation: this isn’t “background music while fireworks happen.” This is “your feelings are about to be personally targeted.” And then Disney went ahead and added a narrator, because of course they did. Shah Rukh Khan is the narrator throughout the experience, tying the show together and guiding guests through the Lion King-inspired storytelling. ©Disney Cruise Line He also voiced Mufasa in Hindi-language versions of The Lion King films, which makes this feel like a very specific, very intentional casting flex. Why this matters (aka: why you should care even if you’re not a Fireworks Person) If you’ve ever watched a Disney nighttime show and thought, “I don’t even like crowds but I’d fight a stroller for this finale,” this is that energy… except you’re out at sea, under real stars, with fewer “someone’s filming on an iPad the size of a TV” complications. We were blown away! Also, cruise fireworks already feel rare. Disney Cruise fireworks feel like a brag. Disney Cruise fireworks plus a full Lion King soundtrack glow-up, orchestra arrangements, and a celebrity narrator feels like Disney gently whispering, “Yes, we know you have options. Anyway, look at this.” A quick “watch like a pro” pep talk You’ll want to keep an eye on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app once you’re actually on the ship, because “select evenings” means you should plan around it, not assume it happens nightly. Get a good view! If you want the absolute best spot to watch the fireworks, it’s the portside between the forward and middecks on Deck 18. Also, we were able to get a good spot without staking it out, so you don’t even have to arrive too early! Bottom line: this is THE nighttime “don’t miss it” on the Disney Adventure. Whether you’re a Disney Cruise Line veteran or a first-timer who’s about to become emotionally attached to deck fireworks (it happens), “The Lion King: Celebration in the Sky” sounds like one of the most immersive onboard nighttime offerings Disney’s done, period. The Disney Adventure And yes, we’ll keep you posted as more details and showtime specifics roll out while the Disney Adventure gears up for its Singapore sailings in March 2026.
