4 HUGE Disney Announcements You Missed This Week
Disney4me posted a topic in Disney Food/Restaurants
It’s been a big week for Disney World fans, but not in the way you’re probably thinking. Some big changes happened in Disney World this week! No, new attractions weren’t announced, or hotels for that matter, but nevertheless, these announcements are still BIG deals. Some of them will help you save on your next vacation, some guests got to experience a refurbished ride before its official reopening, but while those things are great, there was also a new system put in place that really threw us all for a loop…and we’re hoping it doesn’t stick around. Disney Cracks Down on Free Hotel Transportation From Disney Springs One of our favorite things to do in Disney World on a relaxing day is to go Resort Hopping, which is exactly what it sounds like — it’s where you pop around to different Disney World hotels just to explore! However, for a limited time (during the spring break season), Disney made a pretty big change to the way you can take hotel buses from Disney Springs. Cast Members checking MagicBands On March 30th, we walked into Disney Springs to see that Disney had set up blockades in front of the bus lines, meaning that you couldn’t get to them without passing by a Cast Member first. That Cast Member would check your MagicBand or ticket for an existing hotel reservation, or a dining reservation at the hotel you were trying to get to. The Cast Member we spoke to specified that travel on the buses was restricted to just serve those with hotel reservations, dining reservations, wanting to participate in recreation activities, or any general business at the resort besides leisure. The Cast Member continued, saying the change was just for the coming week, while the spring break season is busiest, but did mention that there could be an extension. 5 Tips For the NEW Disney Springs Bus Rule Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Opens Early We also got very exciting news out of Magic Kingdom when we saw that Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin had soft opened on March 30th — nine days ahead of its scheduled reopening on April 8th! Buzz open on March 30th If you’re visiting Magic Kingdom prior to April 8th, it’s important to know that Disney can close this ride at any time before April 8th to do more work. We suggest checking the My Disney Experience App to see if it’s listing a wait time — that means it’s open! The ULTIMATE GUIDE To Getting Galactic Hero Status on the NEW Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Save On Your Next Disney World Hotel Stay! Disney+ subscribers are in luck, because there’s a new Disney World hotel deal that can help them save pretty big on their next vacation. The offer is only available for select hotels, but you can get your room for as low as $99 per night! The offer became bookable on Thursday, April 2nd, and is available for most stays June 21st through August 15th, 2026, though a two-night minimum is required. Disney’s Saratoga Springs There are a lot of details to check out, depending on which hotel you want to stay at and how much you can save, but we’ve got it all laid out for you in our post below — trust us, the money you’ll save is worth the extra work! NEWS: Disney World Announces NEW Hotel Deal Starting at $99 Afternoon Ticket Deal Disney World also introduced an Afternoon Ticket Deal, which is a great way to visit the parks on a budget, especially if you already know you’re not a morning person. Entrance of EPCOT This new ticket covers admission after 2 PM to all four parks, and will be available from May 26th through July 29th. Two-day and three-day options are available, and while the price will depend on the start day, they can run from $118 per day to $156 per day. Again, if you’re a late-night person rather than an early morning person, this could be a perfect deal for you! If you’re ever craving those creamy and sweet flavors of gelato in Disney Springs, you probably know by now that you can get gelato…as well as a ton of other delicious snacks…at Vivoli il Gelato. Tres Leches Tiramisu at Vivoli il Gelato But what if we told you this gelato spot is opening a new location? What if we told you that this new location is just outside Disney World at Flamingo Crossings, which is pretty much right next to Disney World and is the same area where many Disney World Cast Members stay? Well, it’s happening, Vivoli il Gelato is opening up a new shop! We were spending some time in Flamingo Crossings, which is where you’ll find some great shopping and dining, after all, and we came across something that stopped us in our tracks. We saw a sign on the door of a building that said: “Vivoli il Gelato: Coming soon!” So it looks like Flamingo Crossings is getting its very own Vivoli il Gelato. Coming soon! We checked the Vivoli il Gelato website to see if we could get more details, but there isn’t anything on there about this new location yet. We’ll be keeping an eye out for more information, though, and let you know what we find out. Although Vivoli il Gelato has four locations in Disney World, this is the first location outside the resort. You can currently find it at three locations in Disney Springs (a storefront and two carts) and at Disney’s Riviera Resort (a cart). Vivoli il Gelato at the Riviera We’ll be keeping an eye out for more news like this, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for more. There is a new rule hitting restaurants in Central Florida. ©City of Orlando And it affects water?? Let’s dive in! A new rule has been passed that requires restaurants in parts of Central Florida to only provide water if the guest specifically requests it. This comes after the Southwest Florida Water Management District board voted to implement new water restrictions to help with the current drought. So, if you want water at a restaurant in Central Florida, you may only be given it after asking! ©Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive And that’s not the only change coming as a result of this drought. The board has also released other restrictions, including: Limiting residential outdoor water use. Limits to at-home car washing. Limited operation of aesthetic fountains to 4 hours per day. Lake Eola These restrictions come as a result of the limited rainfall that has led to the drought and will most likely be lifted once the drought severity has decreased, but there is no confirmation of when these restrictions will be lifted. We will make sure to provide any updates as they come in, so follow Disney Food Blog so you don’t miss anything! A Popular Disney World Lounge is Reopening. Click here to Learn More! There’s so much construction happening at Magic Kingdom right now. When we went to check out the testing on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, a sneak peek of a brand-new land caught our eye! ‘Cars’ land! The all-new Cars-themed land, Piston Peak, is under construction right in front of Big Thunder Mountain. We could see some of the progress during the Big Thunder Mountain test drives! When we zoom in on the Piston Peak construction, it looks like the land will be right up against the ride track of Big Thunder Mountain! There are construction walls right next to the Big Thunder Mountain queue, with the area full of construction materials and vehicles. The closeup! When we looked at the Big Thunder Mountain queue, there were massive construction walls that went right up against the queue line! It looks like Piston Peak will be a seamless transition between the roller coaster and Cars Land. Piston Peak construction The aerial construction shows that the ground is already leveled, with some foundation and structural work just beginning. It looks like we should be able to see more of the Piston Peak area when Big Thunder Mountain reopens, so we’ll be sure to update once it reopens! @bioreconstruct on X Disney has already announced its plans for Cars Land — you’ll enter Piston Peak National Park and zoom around with Cars characters, including Lightning McQueen and Mater, in two new rides. One will be a rally race, and the other will be a more family-friendly one. ©Disney We’re so excited to see what Piston Peak looks like when it’s finally completed. Muppets fans, this is your time to get loud, weird, and very well dressed. ©Disney Between the current Muppets buzz at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s confirmed plans for Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets to open in summer 2026, Muppet energy is having a very real fashion moment in Disney World right now. Kermit has also been around since 1955, which means these shirts are doing that magical thing where they feel both nostalgic and weirdly cool at the same time. In other words, if your park outfit says, “I appreciate chaos, felt, and a frog with emotional depth,” you are in excellent company. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. And honestly? Muppets shirts make a lot of sense for Disney World. They’re playful without trying too hard, funny without being too theme-park-obvious, and they pair beautifully with bike shorts, denim, sneakers, and the kind of iced coffee that becomes a personality trait by 10AM. If you’re putting together park outfits for the year ahead, these are the Muppets tees we’d keep front and center. Dr Teeth Vintage This shirt is for the person who does not believe in subtlety and frankly shouldn’t have to. ©Amazon Dr. Teeth has always looked like he knows a guy, started a band in a basement, and has never once apologized for the vibes. This Comfort Colors tee leans hard into that vintage psychedelic look, which makes it feel less like a basic graphic tee and more like something you “accidentally” found at the coolest thrift store on Earth. Amazon’s listing also notes the relaxed Comfort Colors fit and that lived-in, garment-dyed feel, which is exactly the kind of thing you want for a long park day when the weather is doing its usual Florida nonsense. ©Amazon This is the kind of shirt that looks especially right at Hollywood Studios. It has rock-band energy, old-school Muppets charm, and just enough retro swagger to make it feel intentional without looking like you tried too hard. Toss it on with denim shorts and sunglasses, and suddenly you’re not just rope-dropping. You’re arriving. view ON AMAZON Miss Piggy Why Exercise Accessorize Miss Piggy would like everyone to know that cardio is temporary, but a fabulous outfit is forever. ©Amazon The beauty of this shirt is that it does what Miss Piggy does best: delivers attitude in one clean, devastating line. This is a Comfort Colors heavyweight tee, so you’re getting that roomy, casual fit again, but with a quote that feels tailor-made for Disney World fashion. Because let’s be real, if you are going to power-walk from your resort bus stop to rope drop, you might as well do it while dressed like a glamorous legend. ©Amazon This one is especially great for people who want a Muppets shirt that feels funny and fashionable, not just character-forward. It’s cheeky, it’s iconic, and it has the exact kind of campy confidence that plays very well in the parks. Pair it with gold jewelry, a cute belt bag, and the absolute refusal to be hurried by anyone who doesn’t understand the importance of accessorizing. view ON AMAZON Kermit The Frog There is something deeply delightful about turning Kermit into varsity-core. ©Amazon This shirt has that classic collegiate look, which makes it feel a little cleaner and more timeless than some of the louder graphic options. It’s Muppets merch for the person who wants to rep their fandom while still looking pulled together, and the “Since 1955” detail actually means something, since Kermit was introduced in 1955. That little nod gives the shirt a bit of history baked into the design, which is catnip for Disney fans who love a subtle reference with a real backstory. ©Amazon This is probably the easiest one in the bunch to style. Throw it on with white sneakers and tennis-style shorts and you’ve got a park outfit that feels classic, comfortable, and just nerdy enough in the best possible way. It’s also a great pick if you want something that works beyond Disney World, because nothing says “effortless charm” quite like a frog in college lettering. view ON AMAZON World Tour Driving Car Group This shirt looks like the Muppets are heading into a fully avoidable transportation disaster, and that is exactly why it rules. ©Amazon The listing describes the design as capturing the group’s fun and camaraderie as they head off on another adventure, and that’s the charm here. It has motion, personality, and that gloriously overstuffed group-shot chaos that Muppets fans live for. One snippet also highlights the cool graphic feel and subtle vintage postcard-ish detail, which helps it read less like generic merch and more like a souvenir from a road trip you absolutely should not have taken but absolutely would take again. ©Amazon This is the shirt for family trips, friend trips, and anyone who knows their Disney vacation is going to include at least one unhinged group photo. It’s playful, it’s busy in a fun way, and it has that “all of us piled into one plan with no clear leader” energy that feels suspiciously accurate for a Disney World day. view ON AMAZON The Muppets Show Now, for the people who want their Muppets merch with a side of arcade sign energy. This Kermit neon logo shirt is bold, bright, and very unapologetic about it. The listing frames it around The Muppets Show and puts Kermit front and center with that big chest neon text look, which gives it a more graphic, almost nighttime-ready vibe than the softer vintage tees. It’s the sort of shirt that would look especially good for an evening in the parks, when everything is glowing a little, and your feet are tired but your snack ambitions remain fierce. ©Amazon This one feels a little more modern and a little less nostalgic than some of the others on this list, which is part of its appeal. If you want a Muppets shirt that pops in photos and doesn’t fade into the sea of castle tees and generic Disney merch, this is a very strong contender. view ON AMAZON The Muppet Show Logo Sometimes the logo is the whole point. There is a reason distressed logo tees never really leave the group chat. They’re easy, they’re wearable, and they let the fandom do the talking without turning your outfit into a full costume moment. This one keeps it simple with The Muppet Show logo in a distressed style, which gives it that broken-in, retro-TV feel right out of the gate. ©Amazon If you’re the kind of Disney fan who likes your park shirts versatile, this may be the winner. You can wear it with joggers at the airport, with shorts in the parks, or with a flannel tied around your waist when the forecast starts acting like it was written by Animal on drums. It’s the easiest grab-and-go option here, and that alone makes it a park bag MVP. view ON AMAZON It’s Time to Light the Lights The Muppets are not background noise right now. They’re moving into a bigger Disney World spotlight, and the shirts are following suit. With Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets officially on the way to Hollywood Studios in summer 2026, there’s a very good chance we’re only going to see more Muppet fashion in the parks from here. ©Disney So if you’ve been waiting for the right excuse to buy a shirt with Dr. Teeth on it, wear Miss Piggy’s philosophy across your chest, or let Kermit carry your entire outfit with one collegiate graphic, consider this your sign from the felt universe. These shirts are funny, nostalgic, easy to wear, and just specific enough to make other Muppets fans point at you from across the queue like they’ve found one of their own. ©Disney Which, honestly, is the dream. We’re always on the hunt for the latest and greatest Disney souvenirs and essentials, so don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more! View the full article

If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably signed up for a hotel rewards program at some point, earned a few points, and only thought about it in rare circumstances. Well, I’m here to tell you that too many folks are sleeping on Marriott’s rewards program. The Dolphin Often, rewards programs go overlooked if you aren’t a frequent traveler, but Marriott Bonvoy is FREE to join, and absolutely worth doing so because there are some wildly underrated perks hiding in plain sight. We’re talkin’ benefits that might actually change how you plan your vacations altogether. Let’s break down the Marriott Bonvoy perks that seriously surprised us! 1. You Can Get a FREE Fifth Night on Award Stays When you book a hotel stay of four nights using points, Marriott Bonvoy gives you a fifth night FREE! This automatic, no-limit perk applies to standard rooms, and the lowest point-value night is comped. Standard room This is one of those perks that feels almost too good to be true — especially if you’re planning a longer trip (especially at Disney World). But — yep — it’s true! This perk is essentially an automatic discount without needing a promo code or special offer. 2. Late Checkout We’ve all seen late checkout perks with other memberships that are based on availability. However, with Marriott Bonvoy Elite status, you can get guaranteed 4 PM checkout at many properties. Lobby Late checkout means you can sleep in after a long park day, hit the pool one last time, or squeeze in a bonus morning of fun before heading home. It makes a world of difference to not feel rushed out the door. 3. Room Upgrades Marriott Bonvoy Elite members can score complimentary room upgrades, including suites when available. ©JW Marriott Orlando, Grande Lakes These upgrades can include better views, larger rooms, and sometimes full-on suite upgrades. It’s one of those perks that can quietly turn a good stay into a great one. 4. You Can Turn Points Into Experiences One of the most underrated perks is Marriott Bonvoy Moments, which lets you redeem points for exclusive experiences, like VIP concert access, culinary events, sports packages, and other memorable events. ©Marriott Bonvoy So instead of just booking a room, your points could land you something way more memorable. 5. Free Breakfast Free breakfast isn’t universal across all Marriott brands, but there are ways to score free breakfast. Yum! Marriott Bonvoy offers free breakfast through mid-tier brands like Fairfield, Residence Inn, and SpringHill Suites, and Platinum Elite members get breakfast for free at the premium brands, food and beverage credits, and lounge access. It’s not always obvious when booking, but if you know which hotels offer it, you can save a ton on food — especially at pricier destinations. 6. Mobile Check-In and Key If you’ve ever walked into a crowded hotel lobby after a long travel day, you know the pain of waiting in line at the front desk. With the Marriott Bonvoy app, you can check in before you arrive, use your phone as your room key, and head straight to your room. Disney World’s Yacht Club Resort is home to so many different nautical-themed restaurants that we frequent. Prime Rib Sliders at Crew’s Cup Lounge We were so sad when Disney closed one of our favorites, the Crew’s Cup Lounge, back in February, but Disney quietly announced the reopening date! The Crew’s Cup Lounge is set to reopen on June 1st, 2026! It closed for refurbishment on February 23rd and was expected to reopen in May. The announcement on the Disney site still says the lounge is expected to open sometime in May, so the date could change! The lounge still has the same menu listed on the Disney site, so we’re expecting the same food and drink options we love, just in an updated restaurant. Sometimes, when Disney lists a reopening on the calendar, they tend to move the date around, but it gives us a good idea of what to expect. Crew’s Cup Lounge The Crew’s Cup Lounge is open from 4 PM to 11 PM every day. It’s themed after a port outpost with a cozy seafaring atmosphere thanks to wooden detailing and lanterns. Some of our favorite items there are the Yachtsman Signature Bread for $8 and the Prime Rib Sliders for $21. Inside Crew’s Cup lounge! Neighboring restaurant Yachtsman Steakhouse will be closed starting on May 11th, 2026, and will reopen sometime in August. During the closure, you can grab some of the Yachtsman Steakhouse options at Crew’s Cup Lounge, including the Lobster Bisque for $19, Caesar Salad for $16, and the Yachtsman Signature Bread for $8. Yachtsman Signature Bread We’re so excited to head back to Crew’s Cup Lounge once it reopens. Stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more Disney World restaurant news! When it comes to dining at Disney World, you’ve got a TON of options. When you’re planning your time in Magic Kingdom, your focus might immediately be pulled to the ultra-immersive restaurants like Be Our Guest Restaurant and Cinderella’s Royal Table. And even though the park’s “flashier” table service restaurants have plenty of upsides, we’re begging you not to sleep on this unassuming little spot! Waffle from Sleepy Hollow! Near the entrance to Liberty Square, you’ll find Sleepy Hollow Refreshments tucked in with the gorgeous backdrop of Cinderella Castle. It might not be as large as some of the other Magic Kingdom quick-service restaurants, but we’ve been fans of Sleepy Hollow for years, so we decided to stop by to see if it still holds up against the competition! Atmosphere Sleepy Hollow Refreshments is located in Liberty Square, with a nice view of Cinderella Castle as a backdrop. It’s a pretty small spot, so be sure to keep an eye out for it as you enter Liberty Square from the main hub of the park! Sleepy Hollow Refreshments There is no indoor seating, but there are some outdoor tables behind the building. Seating is pretty limited, though, so if you have a large party or kiddos that need to find a seat quickly, you may want to avoid peak lunch and dinner times so you’re more likely to get a table right away. You’ve got some great views of the castle from this seating area! There is some shade from the umbrellas over the tables, but it doesn’t always provide 100% coverage depending on the time of day. With that in mind, you may want to be strategic about the table you pick, especially if you’re visiting during one of the hotter months of the year. Sleepy Hollow seating area But, on the plus side, you will get to enjoy a view of the castle in the background while you eat! Speaking of eating, let’s look at the menu! Menu As a smaller quick-service spot, Sleepy Hollow’s menu is relatively short and sweet (literally). You’ll find a few different waffle and funnel cake options, with different toppings and flavor profiles. Plus, they also have a hand-dipped corn dog served with house-made chips, if you’re looking for something a bit more savory. Sleepy Hollow Menu You’ll also find a pretty standard assortment of beverages, including fountain drinks, juice, milk, and hot drinks. Sleepy Hollow Drinks Now, for the star of the show…the FOOD! Eats First up, let’s talk about the Waffle with Berries, Powdered Sugar, and Whipped Cream. This might not be the newest or most groundbreaking menu item you’ll find around Disney World, but oh man, it’s a classic for a reason! The waffle is surprisingly delicate and way different from the denser, heavier Mickey Waffles you’ll find around the parks. Waffles with Berries, Powdered Sugar, and Whipped Cream You get a thin, crispy edge that immediately gives way to a really soft bite in the center. The berries are fresh and tart, which gives a nice balance to the sweetness of the other ingredients. Just beware, if you go heavy on the syrup, it can overpower the flavors and ruin the structural integrity of the waffle. A Classic for a Reason! There are tons of things to love about this waffle! It’s light enough to not weigh you down in the Florida heat, and definitely shareable for two. Plus, for $8.79, it’s a solid deal for a shareable dish. That makes it a great choice if you’re looking for something fast with family-friendly flavors that’s also budget-friendly. But pro-tip, just make sure you watch how much syrup you use, so you don’t end up with a soggy waffle! Waffle with Berries But that wasn’t the only waffle we grabbed! We also had the Waffle with Sweet and Spicy Maple Chicken. This one has that same delicate waffle, topped with chicken tenders, which are perfectly fried with just the right amount of sticky-sweet hot glaze all over them. Sweet and Spicy Maple Chicken Waffle Despite the name, we’d say it’s a slow burn at most — there’s not a lot of spice, just a hint for flavor, so if you’re averse to spicy foods, you don’t necessarily need to automatically count this one out. They’re topped with a little sprinkling of herbs, which didn’t give any noticeable flavor to us, but did make it look beautiful and appetizing. The waffle itself was just as good as the first one, and the hot maple drizzle really brings the dish together. A Great Spin on Chicken and Waffles! We loved this take on chicken and waffles! This could be a great choice for you if you’re a fan of the classic chicken and waffles combo. There is a tiny kick, so if you’re 100% anti-spice, you might want to skip it, but it’s mild enough that it could work for most levels of spice tolerance. It’s a little more expensive at $12.29, but still a good choice for a meal on the go or a shareable snack for two! Chicken & Waffles! Finally, we also grabbed one of the funnel cakes — the Funnel Cake with Chocolate Hazelnut Spread, Bananas, & Whipped Cream. They really know how to do a funnel cake at Sleepy Hollow! It was super crispy and consistent throughout, with so many little ridges to crunch on. The chocolate hazelnut spread is rich, but the bananas and whipped cream offer a lighter balance, which makes it a perfectly decadent treat. Funnel Cake with Chocolate Hazelnut Spread, Banana & Whipped Cream A previous version of this dish also used to have berries, so if you’re ordering it for the first time in a while, heads up that the only fruit it’s topped with now is banana. This one is super delicious and RICH, so yet another shareable option for $8.49! If you like bananas and Nutella, it might be worth putting on your snack list! Crispy Funnel Cake! So, what’s the verdict? Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You’re looking for flavors that will be a hit for family members of all ages. You want a shareable snack or a budget-friendly meal. You want to skip the long lines at other quick-service restaurants with a more under-the-radar spot. You should skip this Disney World spot if… You want an extensive menu with lots of different options. You’re not a fan of waffles or funnel cakes. You’re looking for a spot with indoor seating and air conditioning. Overall Sleepy Hollow Refreshments is still home to some of our favorite treats in Magic Kingdom, and it’s a great place to grab an affordable snack! What it lacks in seating and air conditioning, it makes up for in affordable meals that both the kiddos and adults will love. If you’re craving a waffle or funnel cake on your next Magic Kingdom visit, swing by Sleepy Hollow and let us know what you think! Sleepy Hollow In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more! EPCOT’s International Flower & Garden Festival has been underway for just about a month now, and we’ve loved getting to try all the new menu items this year, as well as revisit some of our favorites. Garden Graze Prize at Flower and Garden! If you’re heading to the festival starting tomorrow, though, you need to know that there’s a menu change about to take place. Don’t worry, it’s not bad, it’s actually something we love most about this particular booth! Over at Farmers Feast, which is located inside CommuniCore Hall, there are actually THREE menus you can experience throughout the festival, but they don’t overlap. On select days, the menu entirely switches over from one menu to the other, all reflecting what part of the spring season we’re in. EPCOT Farmers Feast The first menu to debut was the Early Bloom menu, which is available from March 4th through April 5th, and includes: Grilled Asparagus with pancetta bacon, spring peas, frisée lettuce, truffle sherry vinaigrette, and soft-poached egg — $5.49, DDP snack credit eligible Scallop with spring pea risotto, lemon-beurre blanc, and gremolata — $8.19, DDP snack credit eligible Blueberry Crumble Cake with blueberry-lemon zest soft-serve and blueberry compote — $4.79, DDP snack credit eligible Farmers Feast That means that tomorrow, April 6th, a NEW menu debuts! This is the Springtime Menu, and is available from April 6th through May 10th. This menu includes: Heirloom Tomatoes and Fresh Mozzarella with shallot vinaigrette, sourdough croutons, pesto, micro basil, and balsamic pearls — $5.19 Grilled Beef Strip Loin with tomato risotto, tomato beurre blanc, and basil pesto — $8.79 Peach Cobbler with cinnamon gelato and streusel topping — $4.79 Grilled Beef Strip Loin (2025) None of these menu items are new; we’ve seen them at this booth before, but we’re looking forward to trying them again! Sometimes, there are EPCOT booth items that improve from year to year, or unfortunately aren’t as good, and it’s important to us to give them a try and let you know how they are THIS year. Universal fans who live in Texas have something HUGE to be excited about: a brand new Universal resort in Frisco! ©Universal Well, Universal has dropped a lot of details about the new resort, Universal Kids Resort, including what lands it will include and what kind of rides the theme park will have. The park will be themed for families, and it’s expected to open sometime this year! Well, we’ve got some new photos of the construction progress of the new theme park, and it’s really moving along! Universal Kids Resort will feature seven themed lands, including DreamWorks’ Shrek’s Swamp, Jurassic World Adventure Camp, Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom, Illumination’s Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club, DreamWorks’ TrollsFest, DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots Del Mar, and the Isle of Curiosity. Yes, that’s some of your favorite Universal properties! ©Universal Now, we drove by the construction site to see if we could spot any progress, and one thing we immediately noticed when driving by was that there are now road signs up for the new theme park! One highway sign points to Universal Parkway, where the new theme park will be located. Universal Parkway! We also saw some signs pointing drivers to parking for the theme park and hotel (yep, there’s going to be a hotel), as well as to where rideshare drop-off and pick-up will be. SWEET. Parking signs As for the park itself, most of what you can see from the road is the hotel, but we spotted a big “Universal” sign on the top of the hotel. The hotel will have a total of 300 rooms and will also serve as the entrance to the theme park. The hotel and entrance Here’s a look at the hotel and entrance from another angle. As you can see, it’s going to be bright and colorful and inspired by the themed lands in the theme park. It’s so colorful! We’ll be keeping an eye out for more Universal news, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for more. Forget Halloween Horror Nights. Do you want to join us on a treat hunt? Disney Springs We recently went to Disney Springs to try a new treat at Vivoli Il Gelato. Sometimes we can’t help but satisfy our sweet tooth, especially when Disney World has so many sweet treats at so many different locations across the property! Want to see what we got? Vivoli Il Gelato at Disney Springs is a cart over in The Landing, and it has a brand-new treat called the Golden Oreo Tiramisu. You can get this for $10.50, and it is made with mascarpone cream with layers of coffee-soaked Golden Oreos. This treat looks delicious and aesthetic, but how good is it? Golden Oreo Tiramisu First things first, this flavor is for those who like Golden Oreos. If you don’t, this flavor may be a miss for you. The coffee flavor was definitely present in the cookie, and we really like the espresso at Vivoli. This didn’t taste burnt, and it was pretty smooth with a strong flavor. Let’s try it! It’s a tiramisu, so it does not have a lot of variety when it comes to textures. The treat was very smooth and creamy, which was nice when letting it sit in your mouth. It was good, but again, the Golden Oreo flavor is very much there, so it won’t be for you if you don’t like those types of Oreo cookies. Bonus points that it took them like two seconds to make, which is awesome when you need something sweet immediately. You should try it! We’re always wandering around Disney World looking to try sweets and treats. Make sure to follow us at the Disney Food Blog for more food reviews! While we got lots of Disney news this past week about deals and discounts to help make your next trip more affordable, we were grateful that it was another week where major closures didn’t happen around the resort. Jellyrolls While there was one closure in Disney Springs, and we found out another one is on its way, we also heard some INCREDIBLE news about a former beloved spot at Disney’s BoardWalk, AND a Disney World ride that’s been under refurbishment for months now actually reopened EARLY! If you’re visiting Disney World soon, these are the closures you need to know about happening before your trip begins. Disney’s Hollywood Studios Animation Courtyard Animation Courtyard closed on September 25th, 2025, to make way for Walt Disney Studios. This new area will open on May 26th, 2026, and will be a special nod to the Walt Disney Studios lot. Star Wars Launch Bay will be turned into The Magic of Disney Animation. This attraction will have you interacting and exploring with this fun take on Disney Animation headquarters. Disney announced that a new Animation Academy experience called Olaf Draws! will be added into this new area, and it’s been…controversial, to say the least! ©Disney However, most recently, we’ve seen a lot of progress on this upcoming land — new pavement is almost all set, and it’s really starting to come together. @bioreconstruct via X This area will also feature a new Drawn to Wonderland indoor play area and the current Disney Jr. Play and Dance! show will be getting a makeover. During the transformation, you will still be able to visit “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” and Walt Disney Presents. Muppets Courtyard, including Muppet*Vision 3D, PizzeRizzo, and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano Muppet*Vision 3D AND PizzeRizzo closed on June 8th, and Muppets Courtyard has been walled off so construction can begin on the new Monsters, Inc. land. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano has been closed since May 11th. Most recently, we got a good look at the building being formed for the new attraction, which is set where Cast Member parking used to be, and we’re SHOCKED by how massive it is! ©bioreconstruct Don’t worry, the Muppets won’t be missing from Disney’s Hollywood Studios forever. The Muppets will eventually be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in summer 2026. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets Disney has already made tons of progress on the new version of this iconic attraction! The previous name of the ride has already been removed from multiple locations, including on the guitar, which is now behind the scrim and scaffolding. Under construction Disney is also already putting new paint on the car at the entrance to this area, so it looks more like the Electric Mayhem’s iconic van. It looks great! KRNR The Rock Station is also currently closed, and we’re curious to see if it’ll reopen as a new snack spot, just rethemed, in the near future! Closed! We’ll be keeping a close eye on this spot — we know a lot is to come! If I Had a Nickel for Every Viral Disney Animatronic Problem This Week…I’d Have Two Nickels EPCOT Refreshment Port Refreshment Port located near the Canada Pavilion in EPCOT’s World Showcase is temporarily closed for refurbishment as of January 12th. Not so great news if you were hoping to snag a specialty poutine during EPCOT’s International Flower & Garden Festival. The Refreshment Port is closed However, there will still be plenty of yummy snacks to grab! Disney hasn’t yet announced what will be done at Refreshment Port or when the stand will reopen. However, we will keep an eye and ear out for progress and keep you updated. Not To Be Dramatic, But This Disney World Essential Just Changed My Life Disney’s Animal Kingdom On February 23rd, Disney temporarily closed Rafiki’s Planet Watch and the Wildlife Express, which takes guests over to this part of the park, to make way for the new Bluey attraction coming to the park for Cool KIDS’ SUMMER on May 26th. For the time being, you can still visit the Wilderness Explorer badge offerings, as well as a few character meet and greets, at the train station. The signs are covered up! Since February 2nd, it’s been official that DinoLand U.S.A. is officially closed to make way for the new Tropical Americas land, Pueblo Esperanza. Don’t get us wrong, we’re looking forward to what’s new, but especially since we just recently saw the DinoLand sign come down, we’re missing DINOSAUR and the rest of this uniquely themed land already! Most recently, a new permit was filed for the new Encanto ride to “install set elements.” ©Disney We’re also seeing lots of progress on the new carousel attraction coming to this land, which is very exciting! ©Bioreconstruct This new land is expected to open sometime in 2027 with three new rides, a new restaurant, shopping spots, a beautiful fountain, and more, so we’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest! 3 Pin-Trading Essentials for Disney World Blizzard Beach On February 15th, 2026, Blizzard Beach reopened in Disney World, and Typhoon Lagoon closed for refurbishment. Visiting during the summer and don’t want to worry about tons of crowds in one park? Typhoon Lagoon will reopen again on May 12th, 2026, so for the majority of the summer, we’ll have both water parks open again. Blizzard Beach The 4 Best Disney Beach Bags From Amazon, Target, and BoxLunch Disney World Hotels Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa This hotel has been undergoing refurbishments all over for quite some time now, but we know that sections of the hotel — specifically the porte cochere — will continue to undergo refurbishment through early 2027 at least. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa We certainly hope it’ll actually be able to hit this timeline — we’re a little tired of seeing construction all over this beautiful hotel! Bay Cove Pool Area — Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort This week, the Bay Cove Pool, the water play area, and the whirlpool spa at Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will temporarily close for maintenance. From January 26th through early May 2026, the pool area will be unavailable. Disney’s Contemporary Resort During the closure, guests can still use the Bay Lake Pool, the feature pool, the water play area, and the whirlpool spa at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort For those looking to dine at this hotel, you need to know that the Turf Club Bar & Grill and Turf Club Lounge will both be under refurbishment from mid-March through mid-September 2026. To break it down, in early April, the Turf Club Lounge will close for refurbishment and will reopen in early August. In the meantime, the Turf Club Bar & Grill will remain open with a pop-up bar serving a modified Lounge food and beverage menu. The Turf Club Lounge Then, from early to mid-August, the Turf Club patio will close for refurbishment, and finally, from mid-August through mid-September, the Turf Club Bar & Grill will be closed for refurbishment, but the Turf Club Lounge will be open. Leisure Pools — Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Resort Disney’s Yacht Club and Disney’s Beach Club Resort are currently undergoing visible exterior maintenance. The maintenance could affect views and may require alternate routes at times. In addition, two of the resort’s leisure pools will close for routine maintenance. At Disney’s Yacht Club, the Admiral leisure be will be closed for maintenance through early May 2026. Admiral Pool At Disney’s Beach Club, the Tidal leisure pool will be closed for maintenance through early May 2026. During the construction, guests may see or hear construction work, but it will only be done during the daytime hours. Crew’s Cup Lounge — Disney’s Yacht Club Resort On February 23rd, Crew’s Cup Lounge closed for refurbishment until May 2026. Crew’s Cup Lounge While we don’t have a specific reopening date yet, we do know that when the lounge reopens, Yachtsman Steakhouse will close instead, also to go under refurbishment. Turtle Pond Pool, Turtle Pond Pool Spa, BBQ Area, and Playground — Disney’s Old Key West Resort Starting early January through early February 2026, the Turtle Pond Pool, Turtle Pond Pool Spa, the BBQ area, and the playground at Disney’s Old Key West Resort will be closed for routine maintenance. Turtle Pond Pool at Old Key West During the closure, guests can head over to the Sandcastle Pool or one of the resort’s leisure pools. There are two different leisure pools available: the South Point Pool and Miller’s Road Pool. Surfboard Bay Pool and Kiddie Pool — Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort From January 2026 through April 2026, the Surfboard Bay Pool and Kiddie Pool at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort will be closed for maintenance. Don’t worry, though, if you are in the swimming mood, you will still have plenty of options for pools. You may just need to travel a bit farther. Surfboard Bay At Disney’s All-Star Sports, the Grand Slam Leisure Pool will still be open. As well, you can also use any of the pools at the other All-Star Resorts. You can use the Calypso Pool and Piano Pool and kiddie pool at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort or the Fantasia Pool and Duck Pond Pool and kiddie pool at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort. Promenade Fine Art Gallery — Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Resort The Promenade Fine Art Gallery will be closing its Disney’s BoardWalk location on October 20th, 2025. However, the Promenade Fine Art Gallery isn’t closing for good, and it will just be moving to a new location. Promenade Fine Art Gallery The gallery hasn’t announced yet where that new location will be, but we will keep you updated as we learn more! Jellyrolls — Disney’s BoardWalk Jellyrolls at Disney’s BoardWalk officially closed on April 19th, 2025. This entertainment venue has provided our team with countless memories, and we know many others are also sad to see it close. Jellyrolls had its final farewell performance on April 19th and closed its doors forever on Disney’s BoardWalk. Jellyrolls Now, we know that Jellyrolls will be moving to a new location about 10 minutes away, and a grand opening is planned for late summer or fall 2026. We also know that the new location will have free parking, be closer to the space that the original Disney location was in, and allow people to be dropped off and picked up by rideshare services right at the front door.
