NEWS: Actor Carl Weathers From ‘The Mandalorian,’ ‘Rocky’ Has Passed Away at 76

Carl Weathers has passed away, Deadline has reported.

His family announced that he died peacefully in his sleep on February 1st, 2024.

“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Carl Weathers,” the family’s statement read. “He died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, February 1st, 2024…Carl was an exceptional human being who lived an extraordinary life. Through his contributions to film, television, the arts and sports, he has left an indelible mark and is recognized worldwide and across generations. He was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, partner, and friend.”

Weathers was known for starring as Apollo Creed in the first four Rocky films and also appeared in Happy Gilmore, Predator, and The Mandalorian on Disney+, among dozens of other films and TV shows.

Born on January 14th, 1948, in New Orleans, he appeared in more than 75 films and TV shows during his 50-year career. In addition to his role in The Mandalorian, he also voiced Combat Carl in Toy Story 4.

Weathers is likely best known for his role as Apollo Creed, Rocky Balboa’s arch-nemesis from the Rocky franchise.
