Disney4me
Consider this your official warning. Seriously, we’re not joking! You’re willing to keep reading? Okay, well then — we’ve got some DELICIOUS details to share with you! 2023 Booth The 2023 EPCOT Festival of the Holidays has officially begun and it has a LOT to offer. You’ll find food booths with tasty items, shows and storytellers to see, souvenirs to grab (duh), and a cookie stroll to complete. But don’t let it overwhelm you — we’ve got you covered with everything you need to know. And now we’re heading to one spot in particular — Tangierine Cafe: Flavors of the Medina — to give you the FULL scoop! Is it worth a try? Let’s find out! Menu Over at the Tangierine Cafe: Flavors of the Medina booth, you’ll find a variety of available items including some returning eats and new drinks. 2023 Tangierine Cafe Menu Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s dive into the food itself! Eats First up, we grabbed the Grilled Kebabs with carrot-chickpea salad and garlic aïoli. There are two kebab options — Lamb Kefta and Chermoula Chicken (during the Festival of the Holidays in 2021 it was Harissa Chicken, but we saw the Charmoula Chicken during the Food & Wine Festival in 2021). Both are gluten/wheat friendly. You can get these for $6.25. Grilled Kebabs with carrot-chickpea salad and garlic aïoli Out of the two, we definitely preferred the chicken this year! It was seasoned extremely well — had a warm, spiced flavor without actually being spicy. We appreciated the charred bits that added a nice crunch and grilled flavor to the chicken, which stayed juicy and didn’t dry out. The garlic aïoli is where it’s at — it’s bright, fresh-tasting, and adds a nice coolness to the warm spices. The carrot chickpea salad didn’t impress us this year — it was just kind of a mushy mess. Ours did sit for a bit while we took pictures, but we felt the dish was lacking a seriously needed crunch. Grilled Kebabs with carrot-chickpea salad and garlic aïoli The Lamb Kefta was also decent, but ours had a sort of sweetness going on that we couldn’t quite put our finger on — and we didn’t really enjoy it. There were conflicting flavors and we would have preferred more of a savory profile for this rather than the sweetness we tasted. We also grabbed the Stone-baked Moroccan Bread with hummus, chermoula, and Zhoug dips for $5. In the past, when we’ve had this snack the bread has been SO light and fluffy. This year was no different! This was our favorite thing at this booth and we love the different dips this comes with. The hummus is your typical chickpea hummus but tasted bright and refreshing. The chermoula was overwhelmingly cumin-heavy, so keep that in mind if you don’t love that flavor. The Zhoug was our favorite of the three! It was herby, garlicky, oily, and we kept finding ourselves going back for more. Stone-baked Moroccan Bread with hummus, chermoula, and Zhoug dips And now, onto the drinks! Drinks In terms of drinks at this booth, we got the Hard Cider Flight for $10.25, which comes with Bold Rock Orchard Frost Hard Cider (New), Gulf Stream Brewing Company Holiday Snakebite (New), and Woodchuck Winter Chill Hard Cider. Each of these beers is available for $5.75/6oz. and $9.25/12oz. Cider Flight We thought the Bold Rock Orchard Frost Hard Cider was definitely fruit-forward, and it was pretty light for being a bit darker of a cider. If you’re a dark beer fan but not a cider fan, don’t order this one expecting it to be full-bodied and heavy. It was most like your average cider. Bold Rock Orchard Frost Hard Cider The Woodchuck Winter Chill Hard Cider was also on the fruity side, and we really enjoyed this one. It had some serious holiday spices going on that made it warm and bright and was pretty unique compared to other ciders we’ve had. Woodchuck Winter Chill Hard Cider And, the Gulf Stream Brewing Company Holiday Snakebite was definitely the most bitter of the three — definitely not fruity or sweet like the other ciders. If you’re looking for something on the dry side — this is it! Gulf Stream Brewing Company Holiday Snakebite If beer isn’t your thing, you can also grab the Fig Cocktail with fig vodka and white cranberry juice for $11.50. We had a very similar drink at the 2021 Food & Wine Festival (that one had white-cranberry juice and wasn’t described as having sparkling wine). Fig Cocktail When we had that drink back in 2021, we thought the flavor was very different, but unfortunately, we weren’t a fan. The cranberry juice provided an almost medicinal flavor (which is unique) and the drink was pretty sweet. Plus, the alcohol flavor was almost nonexistent. It hasn’t been a hit for us in the past, but if you like the idea of those flavors, then it might be something for you to check out! OVERALL You should stop by Tangierine Cafe if you’re looking for a variety of ciders, some quick protein with the chicken and lamb kebabs, and love a good dip-as-a-meal situation. At the end of the day, though, nothing really stood out to us at this booth, and you won’t find any new dishes here. Keep that in mind if you’re heading to the festival soon!
