Disney4me
Disney’s new World of Frozen land is opening in just a few, short days! We want to stay here forever! This fully immersive new land boasts two distinct areas with rides, entertainment, snacks, merchandise, and fun interactions with the characters from Frozen. There are also quite a few new eateries in this land, and we’re bringing you with us to try some eats from the Golden Crocus Inn! Atmosphere Golden Crocus Inn is a quick-service restaurant located in the Arendelle Village section of this new land. You’ll find hearty eats and even some chocolate fondue! Golden Crocus Inn Imagineers shared with us that the entrance color scheme is based on the coronation dresses — left is Elsa and the right is Anna. We totally see it! They noticed that in Norway that alleys go under two different houses and they thought that was so interesting they wanted to use it for this restaurant. Outside of Golden Crocus And now, onto the eats! Menu There are some pretty traditional Norwegian-inspired eats on this menu along with some delicious desserts. We’re talking prawns, meatballs, lamb shank, pasta, and more. Of course, there’s a meal for kiddos and a few different side dishes as well. ©Disney Since this is a quick-service restaurant, you’ll order and then go pick up your food from a counter. But enough about that, let’s find out what we’re trying this time around! Eats We kicked things off with the Bayside Food Medley with potatoes, cream sauce, and a brown sugar roll. It was essentially a seafood stew and there was TONS of seafood. The salmon was in large chunks and slightly dry but nice with the broth. The mussels were definitely fishy but the shrimp was nice and the veggies were just soft enough. The best bit was dipping the brown sugar bun in it which was the most amazing sweet and savory combination. This thing was LOADED We also tried the Innkeeper’s Special Braised Lamb Shank with polenta potato purée, roasted vegetables, and beer gravy which was so, so impressive to us for a quick service option. It was massive — and very flavorful. The glaze on top was hearty and the lamb itself was incredibly tender, though a bit on the fatty side. Lamb Shank We certainly didn’t mind, though, as that’s where all the delicious flavor came from. The potatoes were super smooth as well which just made it feel like something a family member would make. Lamb shank is usually roasted in Hong Kong from what Imagineers shared with us, but this one is slow-cooked. So tender Next up was the Forest Mushroom Pasta with forest mushrooms, poached egg, and truffle cream sauce, and y’all — this was SO good! It was a vegetarian option and was also very hearty for being meat-free. The egg in the middle was perfectly runny and added a nice element to cut through the strong flavor of the truffle. The truffle was the main flavor profile but the mushrooms were there aplenty and there were several different kinds to keep things interesting. Forest Mushroom Pasta The Village Chicken Roll Stuffed with Ham & Cheese served with sauteed vegetables and a mustard cream sauce was essentially chicken cordon bleu — but that didn’t take away from the fact that it was darn tasty. Village Chicken Roll It was a comforting and safe choice in our opinion — a lot of familiar flavors for many folks. The outside was crispy although the chicken was a bit overcooked. Inside the roll This was another meal that tasted like something a family member would have made with love. And, we didn’t get to try the Chocolate Fondue as we ate at the restaurant before 6PM when it’s available, but it’s on our list! Nosh or Not You should dine at Golden Crocus Inn if… You want to immerse yourself in the World of Frozen and experience all it has to offer! You’re looking for a hearty meal that will keep you full while you’re in the park. You don’t have time for a full sit-down meal/ You should skip eating at Golden Crocus in if… You want a full table-service experience. You’re looking for something to eat that’s a bit on the lighter side. You don’t really care about the Frozen story or its characters. Overall Overall, Golden Crocus Inn would make a great stop for any Frozen fan or just someone looking for a hearty, filling meal in Hong Kong Disneyland! We were impressed with the quality of the dishes for a quick-service restaurant, and would definitely go back to dine here again. Of COURSE we’re trying the food at Hong Kong Disneyland too!
