Disney4me Posted January 7, 2022 Report Share Posted January 7, 2022 Disney has had some major events take place recently, including the holidays, Disney+ Day, and the start of 50th Anniversary celebrations in Disney World. Cinderella Castle There’s another big day coming up very soon! January 10th is going to bring some MAJOR changes to the Disney parks, including ride closures, transportation changes, and new snacks. Here are ALL of the things that will be changing on that day. It just so happens that a lot of the major changes coming to Disney parks are happening on the same day. So if you’re visiting Disney World or Disneyland on or after January 10th, be prepared for a few important changes. Attraction Closures Disney World In Magic Kingdom, Splash Mountain will be closing for a month-long refurbishment. This refurbishment is expected to last from January 10th through February 10th, 2022. Splash Mountain The refurbishment is just for routine maintenance, so it looks like we won’t be seeing the big Princess and the Frog updates quite yet. Splash Mountain in Disney World Splash Mountain can close around this time of year for refurbishments, so this change isn’t a huge surprise! Click here to read more about the Princess and the Frog updates coming to Splash Mountain in the future. Disneyland Disneyland has a few more refurbishments beginning on January 10th. Splash Mountain and Haunted Mansion will both temporarily close in Disneyland Park on this day. Splash Mountain in Disneyland Splash Mountain is expected to reopen sometime in the spring of 2022. Disney hasn’t said yet what the refurbishments will entail on this attraction. Splash Mountain Finale Haunted Mansion has a much shorter closure, and it should be open again on January 21st, 2022. We’re guessing that this closure is to take down the Haunted Mansion Holiday decorations, since the holidays end in Disneyland on January 9th. Haunted Mansion Holiday In Disney California Adventure Park, The Little Mermaid — Ariel’s Undersea Adventure will close on January 10th as well. ©Disney This attraction is scheduled to reopen just a few days after its closure, on January 14th. Attraction Changes Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Changing to Standby Queue Back in Disney World, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in EPCOT is switching from a virtual queue to a standby queue on January 10th. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Starting on that day, you’ll be able to wait in a standby line to ride Remy’s instead of getting a boarding pass through the virtual queue. The virtual queue will no longer be available (although Disney could always bring it back — we’ll keep you updated if that happens!). Virtual Queue Entrance when it’s GO TIME! If you don’t want to wait in the standby line, you can also purchase a Lightning Lane pass for this attraction. It’s a pay-per-ride attraction, which means it’s not included with the standard Genie+ $15 per day service. Instead, you can pay a separate fee to skip the line at this single ride. Lightning Lane Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in Disney’s Hollywood Studios changed from a virtual queue to a standby line near the end of last year. The standby line for Rise of the Resistance can be pretty long. We’ve seen it be 2 hours long or sometimes longer. We tried a TON of new snacks on that day, and most of those are still available in the parks! Cinderella Castle But starting January 10th, several of these 50th snacks will be going away and will be replaced with NEW snacks. Mickey Mouse Dome Cake Here are all of the snacks that will be LEAVING on January 10th (you’ll only be able to get them through January 9th, 2022: Not-Too-Late Tea from Cheshire Cafe Seven Dwarfs Specialty Cone from Storybook Treats Pecos Bill Widowmaker Sandwich from Golden Oak Outpost Showtime With José Dole Whip float from Aloha Isle Mickey Mouse Dome Cake from Gaston’s Tavern Widowmaker Sandwich All of the new snacks that Disney has announced so far are coming to Magic Kingdom (with many of them replacing the ones that will leave). ©Disney Here are all of the new snacks COMING on that day: 50th Anniversary Cinnamon Roll at the Main Street Bakery Slue Foot Sue Fish Sandwich at Golden Oak Outpost Always Tea Time Slush at Cheshire Café Donald Duck Dome Cake at Gaston’s Tavern Croque Monsieur Flatbread at Pinocchio Village Haus ©Disney We can’t wait to try these new additions! Transportation Changes On January 10th, we will officially say goodbye to Magical Express. This is the last day that guests can ride a Magical Express bus from the Orlando International Airport to Disney World. Magical Express bus In the future, guests will be able to choose between a few different transportation options to get from the airport to their hotel and back to the airport at the end of their stay. One replacement service for the Magical Express is Mears Connect, which is run by Mears, the same people who ran Magical Express. Another service called The Sunshine Flyer is also debuting soon, which will use buses with designs meant to look like 1920s trains. Or you can always use ride shares like Uber and Lyft. Mears Connect is one new option! None of the replacement options are free, and the best choice for you will depend on your travel preferences and budget.
