Why THESE are the Heroes We NEED During the Disney Park Closures!

Recommended Posts

It’s been over a month since the Disney Parks and Resorts have closed. But, honestly, it feels like an eternity!! ):

With Disneyland and other Disney parks closed “until further notice,” it’s hard to predict when we’ll finally be walkin’ down Main Street, U.S.A.. And, if we’re gonna get real, there are a lot of questions we just don’t have answers to right now.

There has been some talk about how to re-open theme parks and cruise lines and what safety precautions are going to have to be instated (just look at the new procedures Shanghai Disneyland is already taking). But while it’s still unclear when the parks will return to normal or even reopen right now, we wanted to chat about something that may brighten your spirits!

Even though you might not be able to visit the Happiest Place on Earth at the moment, there are actually still ways you can see what’s happening in Disneyland and other Disney spots every day! We’re talkin’ about live stream videos and other Disney footage! 🙂

Howard Johnson Mattercam

The Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel Anaheim is right across from Disneyland (and a great spot to consider if you’re looking for an off-site location). Since we can’t go to the parks currently, the HoJo is bringing that magic to YOU at home!

This cam has been around for years, but it’s extra special to watch with the parks closed. The hotel live streams from its “Mattercam,” which sits on the top of the roof looking at Disney California Adventure and Disneyland.

The live stream plays 24/7 (!!!) and switches to a new angle roughly every 30 seconds so you can spot your favorite attractions and park landmarks.

Since we’ve been watching, we’ve spotted Pixar Pier, Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: BREAKOUT!, Space Mountain, and the Matterhorn to name a few.

Our hearts feel so full seeing the parks, even if they’re pretty quiet and peaceful without guests right now.

Disney Live Cams

But, Howard Johnson isn’t the only place live-streaming the Disney Parks and Resorts. Disney Live Cams is transporting viewers all around the world to watch different Disney locations. You can watch the Golf Course on Disney’s Aulani Resort

…or even the Nassau port, if you miss setting sail on the Disney Cruise Line!

While this one might not be live, you can still travel to Disney World with the Main Street Cam!

Hello from the Magic Kingdom!

This is a pre-recorded “cam” synced up to play what would be happening in the park at that exact moment throughout the day, just like the day when it was filmed (yeah, we totally watched Festival of Fantasy parading through the streets earlier!).

Check out our picks for the best things to watch on Disney+ if you want to feel like you’re in the parks!

Other Ways to Experience Disney

If you’re still missing the Disney Parks after all those streams, you can also catch the Magic Happens parade, Dapper Dans performing songs, and the Living Legends of the Haunted Mansion event from Disneyland…

Although we’re REALLY missing the parks, we are so happy to be able to get a little bit of the magic at home. 🙂 Check out one of these live cams the next time you’re feeling homesick for your happy place!
