Spaceship Earth But that was before Disney just announced the DATE Spaceship Earth (as we know it!) will be CLOSING! Disney has just released a statement that they’ll begin reimagining the iconic Epcot attraction starting on May 26th, 2020. Spaceship Earth Disney went on to say, “this means Spaceship Earth in its current form will close for a time starting that day.” Spaceship Earth There weren’t very many additional details released about Spaceship Earth’s transformation that we didn’t know already, EXCEPT for this new artist’s rendering of the Eygpt portion of the classic ride! According to Disney, “You’ll visit Egypt, which is part of the current version of the attraction, but it will be an Egypt like you’ve never seen before, transformed through the power of light.” ©Disney Click here to read everything we know so far about Spaceship Earth’s refurbishment! Disney also said, “Throughout the attraction, you’ll hear new narration and see how light plays a central role in our shared human journey, coming to life in dynamic ways in a celebration of the magic that’s possible when we all come together.” This is similar to the statements Bob Chapek, Disney’s new as-of-today CEO, made during last year’s D23 Expo.
