We’ve been waiting with bated breath to see what would take the place of the much-beloved old Mickey’s Star Traders sign that disappeared from the Tomorrowland gift shop in the Magic Kingdom a short while ago.

Mickey’s Star Traders Sign Removed

And now it appears we have our answer — check out the newest Star Traders sign here!

While Mickey’s Star Traders has been undergoing a refurb for the last couple of weeks, it’s been open, but greatly reduced in size with large construction walls blocking off most of the back part of the store. Work has also been taking place outside as the exterior received a fresh coat of pink and coral paint to complement the new teal blue and white Star Traders’ sign!

Umm…wait, where’s Mickey?! If you recall, this store has always been named MICKEY’S Star Traders, and featured a large smiling Mickey head for its logo. Looking up Mickey’s Star Traders name on the Disney World website directs you to just plain ol’ Star Traders.  My Disney Experience shows Star Traders as the name as well.

So it would appear one of the big results of Star Trader’s refurb was the loss of its owner and operator on the signage, a certain Mr. M. Mouse we’re rather familiar with ’round these parts! The old sign with steampunked Mickey sure was cool, but as Walt would say “We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things…” so out with the old, and in with the new!

Next time you’re in Tomorrowland be sure to swing by Star Traders and check out its newer, sleeker design (and snap a pic in front the sherbet walls outside OBV!).

Speaking of new signs, check out the other newest sign that debuted earlier this week at Hollywood Studios here!

What do you think? Are you onboard with this more streamlined design? Let us know in the comments!
