Disney4me
The Disney Skyliner gondola system is brand, spanking new, and with that newness comes some logical questions and needs. What’s it like to ride the Skyliner? Can I bring my stroller on board? What happens if I get stuck twenty feet over Hourglass Lake (oh wait…that already happened!)? Check out our Skyliner FAQs! Skyliner sailing to Epcot But what we need — what we really need — is a Skyliner Food Tour! We already created a delicious and extensive DFB-exclusive Skyliner Pub Crawl that’ll find you sippin’ margaritas in Mexico, sampling wine at Riviera Resort, and relaxing with a fruity cocktail at Caribbean Beach Resort. But now it’s time to grab a fork (and some napkins) because there are plates and plates of stellar food to eat along the (sky)lines. View of Skyliner from the Caribbean Beach Station It’s time to take to the skies and dine! Skyliner Pro Tips: how to maximize your ride in the sky! Skyliner Food Tour at Riviera Resort On December 16, 2019, Riviera Resort will be open — and with it, a rooftop table service restaurant, a pool bar, a cafe/wine bar, and a quick service spot! That’s a lot of opportunities for some culinary indulgence. We’re starting our Skyliner Food Tour here — so if you’re gliding along with the Skyliner before the Resort opens, you’ll start at the second stop. (Just think of this as our way of helping you justify doing the Food Tour twice!) Riviera Station Arrival It’s time for breakfast, and there are two locations at Riviera Resort where you can order up our favorite dish from a recent media preview of Riviera’s food: Blueberry-Lemon super fluffy Pancakes! You’ll find these on the menu at Primo Piatto (the Resort’s quick service spot) and at Bar Riva (the Resort’s pool bar). Blueberry-Lemon Pancakes Read more about the Blueberry-Lemon Pancakes here! If you’re embarking on the Food Tour with a partner, consider ordering the Fruit Plate, too, and sharing the two dishes. (You’ll be eating a lot today, after all. Best not to fill up early on!) Fruit Plate Still hungry or want a Skyliner snack? Stop into Le Petit Cafe on your way back to the station. You can order up a specialty coffee or pick up a French pastry, like these Lemon Madeleines! These would be great to pack away for a mid-day snack! Lemon Madeleines Skyliner Food Tour at Epcot’s World Showcase From Riviera Resort (or as the first stop on your tour if you’re voyaging before Riviera opens), head to Epcot. Epcot’s Skyliner station sails into the International Gateway and (as far as we’re concerned) directly to Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie in the France Pavilion. Here you’ll order your next dish: something savory or something sweet — you really can’t go wrong. We love the flaky Croissant Sale with eggs, ham, and cheese. Croissant Salé Read our full review of the Croissant Sale right here! Or order the equally flaky but markedly sweeter Frangipane. This and a cup of hot chocolate or coffee? Mais, oui! Frangipane Read more about why we love the Frangipane here! Continue your Skyliner Food Tour at the United Kingdom Pavilion where you’ll get the first of a couple fried potato dishes on the Tour (sorry not sorry! Carbs keep your endurance up, right?). Yorkshire County Fish Shop serves up thick-cut chips…er, fries that we just can’t quit. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and irresistible with some malt vinegar or ketchup, we say grab a side order, and find a place to munch while you watch some local entertainment! They aren’t sold on the menu as just a side, but if you ask they’ll be happy to serve it up for you! Chips And because the only thing better than French fries is French fries topped with gravy and cheese, the next stop is Refreshment Port, where you’ll order some poutine! Traditional Poutine (French fries topped with brown gravy and cheese curds) is always a solid choice, but you can check out the seasonal varieties, too. During the 2019 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, Refreshment Port is serving up Duck Confit Poutine and Beef Brisket Poutine in addition to Traditional. Traditional Poutine Check out our review of the Traditional Poutine here! Continue your Tour around World Showcase, and make a stop into Norway’s Kringla Bakeri og Kafe. Here you’ll order the Olaf Fall Cheesecake. This light, lemon-flavored treat first appeared for Easter season in 2019, but it’s stuck around with some small adjustments. Whereas the original came topped with buttercream and chocolate eggs, the current version is decked out with a cheerful looking white chocolate Olaf and fall leaves sprinkles. Either way, the cheesecake itself is mildly sweet and citrusy — and completely delightful. Olaf Fall Cheesecake Check out our full review of the Olaf Fall Cheesecake here! Counteract that sweet treat with something super savory: the Jumbo Pretzel from the Germany Pavilion’s Sommerfest! This pretzel means business. It’s bigger than a large plate, and you’re definitely going to want to share this if you have any hope of surviving the rest of your Skyliner Food Tour! (If you bring along a small storage bag or ask for a to-go bag, you can save your leftovers for later!) Sommerfest Jumbo Pretzel Click here to read more about this monster-sized pretzel! The next item on the Skyliner Food Tour isn’t going to weigh you down, so be sure to stop at the beverage and frozen treats cart in the Italy Pavilion to pick up a Cocktail Pop! These are grown-up ice pops made with flavorful combos like Berry Sangria and Limoncello. We loved the Sparkling Strawberry, and there’s a non-alcoholic Strawberry Popsicle on the menu, too. Whether you choose wine pop or just regular pop, it’s a refreshing treat to enjoy on your way back toward Skyliner. Sparkling Strawberry Wine Popsicle Read more about the boozy popsicles in the Italy Pavilion here! Still hot by the time you make it back around to the France Pavilion again (it is warm most of the year in Florida, after all!)? Merci for L’Artisan des Glaces! We’re partial to… well, everything on the menu, but the Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich (seen below in its pumpkin spice form) is a classy way to have your ice cream and eat it, too! Pumpkin Spice Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich Check out our early review of the tasty Macaron Ice Cream Sammies here! Skyliner Food Tour at Art of Animation and Pop Century Resorts It’s time to leave Epcot, and you’re going to need some time to digest. Climb into a gondola at International Gateway and make the 9-10 minute journey back to Riviera Resort. Stay onboard and complete the 2-3 minute journey to Skyliner’s hub at Caribbean Beach Resort. Transfer to the Art of Animation and Pop Century line for a five-minute journey to the Resorts’ shared station. Art of Animation and Pop Century Skyliner Station From here, head to Pop Century for Everything Pop‘s famous Tie-Dye Cheesecake. We know: so. much. food coloring. But it’s tasty, it’s fun, and it’s only found here. Plus the combination of cheesecake and red velvet cake base is A+. Disney’s Pop Century Resort Tie Dye Cheesecake Read more about this tasty explosion of color here! Over in Art of Animation’s Landscape of Flavors, you’ll want to check the pastry case for the Confetti Cupcake. It’s a simple and colorful treat that works for kids of all ages! It’s got kind of an odd appearance with that scoop of buttercream, but it’s such a satisfying cupcake. Definitely grab one of these if you’ve got a sweet tooth that needs satisfying! Confetti Cupcake Read more about the Confetti Cupcake by clicking here! Yearning for something savory? Landscape of Flavors has a great Surf and Surf Burger that, when it’s on the menu, will satisfy your hunger for something salty. Or go for some classic Chicken Nuggets. (We won’t judge; we’re always game for some nuggs!) Surf and Surf Burger Check out why we heart the Surf and Surf Burger here! Skyliner Food Tour at Caribbean Beach Resort It’s time to glide back to Caribbean Beach Resort for one or two bites. If you’re short on time, head to the Resort’s pool bar, Banana Cabana. We rarely meet a cheese dip we don’t love, so you’ll want to order up the Chili Con Queso here. It’s savory and rich, with a base of skirt steak chili that’s sure to hold you over for a while! Chili Con Queso Explore the cheesy goodness of the Chili Con Queso here! Want to sit and eat at a more leisurely pace? Have an Advance Dining Reservation for Sebastian’s Bistro so you can share the Empanada appetizer for crispy pockets of protein… Empanana Sampler …and then double-down on the meat with the Taste of the Caribbean! We loved this trio of proteins served with simple sides! Taste of the Caribbean This is a great way to get a little taste of a LOT of different flavors. Yum! Read our full review of the Taste of the Caribbean by clicking here! Skyliner Food Tour at Disney’s Hollywood Studios The last official stop on the Skyliner Food Tour is Disney’s Hollywood Studios. We’re heading deep into the park for a treat that’ll make you feel like a kid again: Lunch Box Tarts from Woody’s Lunch Box! We’ve loved these grown-up Pop Tarts since we first tried them, and with some seasonal options popping up here and there, the Lunch Box Tarts are still a must-get! Lunch Box Tarts Learn more about the Lunch Box Tarts here! But Woody’s also turning out another must: Totchos. These are nacho toppings (chili, cheese) on top of tater tots. They’re super indulgent and super delicious. Just dig in, and don’t question it. Totchos (FYI the totchos here are baked, not fried. So HEALTH CONSCIOUS!) Read more about why we love Totchos here! Another savory bite is a short journey to a galaxy far, far away: Ronto Roasters in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge! The Ronto Wrap is this quick service window’s signature dish consisting of a pork sausage, roasted pork, a seriously yummy peppercorn sauce, and crunchy slaw. It’s a hand-held sandwich on a pita, so you can carry it to your next destination! Ronto Wrap Read our review of the Ronto Wrap by clicking here! Thankfully that destination isn’t very far away, either: it’s Epic Eats (formerly Oasis Canteen)! And you know what that means: it’s funnel cake time! We suggest the Cookies and Cream Funnel Cake topped with soft-serve ice cream, chocolate sauce, powdered sugar, Oreo cookies, and Oreo cookie crumbles. But if you want to go for the Strawberry Topping Funnel Cake, we’re okay with it. Cookies & Cream Funnel Cake Click here to drool over the Cookies and Cream Funnel Cake with us! Skyliner Food Tour at Riviera Resort (Again) There’s a good chance you’ll be too full to fit in another bite at this point, but on the chance that you’re feeling hunger pangs, we suggest a second stop at Riviera Resort. Topolino’s Terrace — Flavors of the Riviera promises to be a celebration of the flavors of Italy and France, with many imported ingredients and regional specialties. We can’t wait to give the Burrata con Pana a try. It’s served with shaved black winter truffle and crispy seed lavosh bread. Burrata Topolino’s will be making fresh pasta on-site, and they’ve promised Shrimp Scampi that diners won’t want to miss. We think it’s the perfect dish to end an exceptional day of food. The Art of Inspiration Video Screenshot ©Disney And Topolino’s Terrace is serving up one more exceptional offering: stunning views! Peep the nighttime show at Epcot just beyond the tower of the Resort itself, or enjoy views of Hollywood Studios’ show from another vantage point.
