In 2021, the Magic Kingdom will be celebrating its 50th anniversary (we feel SO old just typing that!).

And you might not have noticed, but the Magic Kingdom has REALLY been stepping it up lately! Some additions have been announced to celebrate that big b-day, but you might be surprised to know how many NEW changes the OG World park has already brought in. So let’s check in on what’s been goin’ down at the Most Magical Place on Earth… .

New Tomorrowland Entrance

Tomorrowland’s entrance recently got a refresher, and we are LOVING it! The new sign’s design is modern, sleek, and simple in all the best ways, which fits well with the overall theme of the land.

The fresh look comes ahead of some exciting future additions to the land, including the hotly anticipated TRON coaster, and we think it’s the perfect entrance to make you feel like you’re walking into that great, big, beautiful tomorrow of Walt’s dreams!

Everything’s Coming Up Dole Whip!

While you’ll never see us turning down a regular Dole Whip, Magic Kingdom has really been expanding our horizons on the ol’ classic. Now you can pick up some twists on the traditional frozen treat, including some new favorites such as the trendy FOMOsa, or Redd’s Revenge (a strawberry-flavored Dole Whip float with strawberry Fanta, topped with a chocolate Pirate’s hat!).

While you can currently grab favs like pineapple and (new fav!) raspberry at unofficial Dole Whip Headquarters, Aloha Isle, we’ve picked up fun flavors at Sunshine Tree Terrace, Storybook Treats, Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies, and more — you never know where a new flavor will show up next! Magic Kingdom has seen lime Dole Whip a la the Peter Pan Float, lemon Dole Whip (we still missin’ you, Lost Princess Cone!), and even MANGO! We’ll take them all, please and thank you!

Exclusive Merchandise

Magic Kingdom offers some merch you just can’t find anywhere else on property. They change up their offerings frequently, so you have to keep your eyes out for unique items! And TODAY we got word about the new Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party exclusive merchandise. But one of our fav spots to find unique merch year-round is at Memento Mori.

Magic Kingdom’s one-stop-spook-shop recently debuted these amazingly detailed Haunted Mansion Dioramas! Check out all the cool little figures the Attic Scene comes with!

And check out Leota’s Seance Room!

The Haunted Mansion in Disneyland recently celebrated 50 years of happy haunts, and the Magic Kingdom joined in on the celebration with a release of limited-edition merch! We loved this Dooney & Bourke Haunted Mansion Anniversary Tote available at a few spots like Memento Mori or Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe. It would be perfect to bring with you the next time you board a Haunted Mansion Doom Buggie!

Hopefully NOT limited-edition is the seriously spooky Madame Leota Perfume. Housed in a fabulous Madame Leota bottle, this ethereal perfume is one VERY welcome haunt to our collection!

Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! Street Party

In honor of Mickey and Minnie’s 90th anniversary in late 2018 (what a milestone!), the Magic Kingdom debuted a new show in early 2019 to celebrate.

Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! Street Party is a dance and sing-along celebration for Mickey and Minnie that features live singing and dancing as well as colorful floats. Oh, and of course you will find Mickey, Minnie, and all of their friends joining in the party!

The Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! Street Party has been a hit at the Magic Kingdom, bringing a high energy show that the whole family can enjoy. (Warning: if your kid loves it as much as ours do, you WILL have to drop everything to follow this little parade/show multiple times per day.)

Castle Walkway Expansion

Recently the walkway around Cinderella Castle completed a much-needed widening.

Cinderella Castle Walkway

The path from the entrance to Liberty Square to Fantasyland is now significantly more opened up and allows for traffic to much more easily pass through the busy area. We’re always happy to see Magic Kingdom evolving to keep up with the needs of guests.

Mickey Celebration Donut

Is one single food item worthy of its own paragraph? IT IS HERE! (This is Disney Food Blog. Duh.) In the case of Mickey’s Celebration Donut, we might even give it TWO PARAGRAPHS (look out)!

You can find this positively GIANT Mickey-shaped donut in chocolate and vanilla glazes at the Main Street Bakery, or in strawberry at the Cheshire Cafe.

The perfect sugary start to your day, the Mickey Celebration Donut can easily be shared among friends and family, or, if you’re feeling up to it, you can take on the Mouse by yourself! So grab a coffee and get to eating — this donut is one you won’t want to miss!

Read our review of the Mickey Celebration Donut here!

We even compared it to the (delicious!) Joffrey’s giant donuts (made by Donut King, locally). You can check that out here!

TRON Lightcycle Run

What else is going on in Magic Kingdom these days? Oh, yeah — a HUGE NEW roller coaster is going up in Tomorrowland DID YOU KNOW?!

Tron-Coaster-Construction_02-700x525.jpg

TRON is Coming!

We’ve had big ol’ heart eyes for TRON Lightcycle Power Run ever since it opened in Shanghai Disneyland in 2016, so when we found out it was coming to Disney World we were PUMPED. Slated to open in 2021, we can’t wait to see how the glowy blue thrill ride will fit into the Tomorrowland skyline!

Check out the first look at the costumes and ride vehicle for this new ride here!

Disney World Early Morning Magic

There are few experiences that can compete with walking down Main Street, U.S.A. first thing in the morning. Now, Magic Kingdom has made that easier than ever with Early Morning Magic! This hard-ticket event allows guests early entry to the Magic Kingdom, letting you into the park a few hours early to enjoy some of the park’s most popular rides with little to no wait time!

When you reserve Early Morning Magic, not only do you get access to several popular Fantasyland rides before the park opens to the general public, but you also get a buffet-style breakfast at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe included in your ticket from 8-10AM. It’s easy to see why this popular event keeps coming back. The Magic Kingdom makes for a truly magical start to the morning!
